Every nation has its own unique customs and systems for choosing a leader. How does yours do it? Election? Bloodright? A mix of the two, or more?

In Codagh, the King may name an heir. Many times, however, it changes hands via ritual combat, when one no longer feels the King represents the people, they challenge them to a battle to the death, the winner being crowned King of Codagh. If the current King should die with no heir, the Provinces may send a champion to fight in a tournament to crown the new King.

Each Emperor designates an heir who inherits the position on their death. This heir does not have to be a blood relative, and the heir has usually been a close friend of the current Emperor rather than a descendant. The current heir, Elizabeth Norton, is an exception, being the firstborn daughter of Emperor Norton II. Emperors can designate secondary heirs as a backup. If both the Emperor and all heirs die, the position is inherited by Ministers starting with the the Foreign Minister. If all the ministers are killed at once, the governor of the state with the highest population becomes Emperor.

The president can enjoy a democratic mandate for 4 years, once that period is over he can be re-elected once. Once the second consecutive term is fulfilled, by constitutional law, the former president will no longer be able to run until the mandate of another government passes.

The President of The Democracy of HUElavia is chosen through a national election. Three months prior to the election, the candidates are decided by each party through a national vote by party (I.E. Liberals can only vote for Liberal candidates, Conservatives can only vote for Conservative candidates).

Then, once the party chooses a candidate, a national election is done, which falls on the first Monday of every October, which each election is done every 4 years.

The Monarchy in the SR has been a new tradition, even though it's been in existence for almost 2 centuries. In the SR, it's the year 2598, and the Salvatagardian Monarchy was formed by King Ivan II the Great of the Noble Grand House of Stalin (2332-2414) in 2407.

The Monarchy does not hold elections for the Monarch.
The office of Monarch in the SR is hereditary to the eldest son. If there's no sons, to the eldest daughter.

The next step down in line is the General Minister.
"By order of King Ivan II of the United Kingdom and Empire of the Salvatagard Republic, the General Minister must be appointed by the current King or Queen. If the King or Queen dies, the General Minister's term is over. If the General Minister dies before the King or Queen dies, a new General Minister must be elected by the General Public. The Acting General Minister must be appointed by the King or Queen, or any member aprt of the King's/Queen's Council or the Royal Family. If the King or Queen's Council agrees with the Election Results, the Electee who won the Election becomes the new General Minister. The next step down in line is the Governor-General.
The GG is elected by both the National Parliament in the Capital and by the rulers of the Kingdoms, Duchies, Archduchies, and Governorates.

The three equal members that make up the Crown of TurtleShroom each appoint a "Majestic Twelve": twelve creatures of their species the given King deems worthy to succeed them. Upon the death of a King, the next King is selected from the Twelve by the casting of lots (sortition).

The official procedure for what happens if a King's entire Majestic Twelve is killed off before the selection of the next head of state states that the Judgemaster, if he is of the King's species, becomes King. If the Judgemaster does not match the right species or is dead, the succession moves to the Chief Justice of the Grand Alcoholic Tribunal, and so on. If none of these are eligible, a Designated Survivor of each species is always present in the event of this exact catastrophe.

The next election will be in 1990, and the next president will be chosen by the Union Party Convention. Members of the Union Party are elected by the people, but to be chosen as a candidate their views must adhere with the ideology of rectificationism.

In order to be eligible you must be a party member and a Minister, or high-ranking official (such as Vice Chairperson or Republic President) of the Council of Democrats. The Vice Chairperson is elected by the Council off of the advice of the Chairperson. The Presidents of each 16 Republics are selected from democratic vote from their given population.
