”What is freedom? Is something worth fighting for...? Or is it just another word used by politicians to wage pointless wars?”
-VictorNet
Rapture City

  • In the underwater city, two roles have emerged from the City's ongoing civil war: the City Monitors who defend the peace and the Red Caps who fight against unjust systems. The city's infrastructure is crumbling under its own weight and kinship is snuffed by the paranoia of totalitarianism. Yet the people would be in for a surprise as their virtual overlord have died many years ago as the oppression continues under his name...
  • Not an 1-1 exact replica of Bioshock lore and Rapture City. Only the city's atmosphere and setting is maintained.

The formerly wartorn nation keeps a facade of normalcy and order while enjoying the societal and cultural decadence that marks the new Roaring Twenties. The paranoid authoritarian government tries its best to uphold order in the face of uncertainty, while its people want nothing more than a breathing space. Alfred Best - Common Citizen

Hello,

I’ve heard that your world has magic in it. How does it work? How has it affected your nation’s culture?

(Sorry these have piled up. I thought people forgot this was a thing, and I’ll be answering these later today if I can.)

Factbooks | Music | Tech Level: PT/FanT | Current Year: 1943 UE (1958 AD)

In a strange world not so different from ours, a young empire stands in the heart of Europa. Born and forged in the fires of war, it is headed by an embittered Kaiserin and a camarilla of aging, scheming generals. Stretched to a breaking point and groaning under the stress and hubris of its past victories, the Fatherland stands on guard. But on the forefront of a new world, fighting a new war from without and within, will it survive?

"To Director Pereverzev of Zitravgrad,

The public opinion on individuals with disability is somewhat complicated, however it is overall sympathetic considering that among the disabled are many veterans who have returned home from the front badly wounded. While the private and public sectors of the Empire have made some efforts to provide greater accessibility to the disabled, the material and personnel demands of wartime have more or less completely halted the endeavor.

Our world's medical technology has, naturally, been unable to completely eliminate disability, however strides in conventional prosthetics have relieved some of the Empire's physically disabled, and advances in experimental treatments aided by magic have shown promise in reversing certain conditions such as blindness, however again material shortages as well as a lack of mages on the homefront have made progress in this field extremely slow.

As for employment opportunities, the handicapped are of course at a disadvantage. Positions from munitions factory workers to shop clerks are preferably staffed with more able-bodied individuals by employers. This is understandably disheartening and perhaps grim to more advanced societies where they can be accommodated, however the Empire's less fortunate are not at the mercy of discrimination when all is said and done. The permanently disabled and the families thereof have been entitled to pensions to ensure their well-being since the late 19th century, and are provided for to the extent that the Imperial government can in these trying times."

- Joachim von Neurath, Imperial Minister for Foreign Affairs

(If this wasn't a great answer, sorry, it's late and I'm running on fumes here after an all-nighter. I'll have something for Normund later tomorrow, and that one shouldn't be too difficult considering the length of the question. The response to it will be edited in this post. Sorry to keep you guys waiting.)
