Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), popularly Esquerra Republicana o Esquerra, is a Catalan political party that is defined as the Social-Democratic left, favorable to the independence of the Catalan Countries.

The party is implemented in all the Catalan Countries: in the Principality of Catalonia, the Valencian Country (ERPV) and the Balearic Islands and Pitiüses (ERIB). He also maintains a link with the Juventudes de Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (Republican Youth), considered his youthful branch.

Its publication is the magazine Esquerra Nacional and uses, indistinctly, the star sign with a blue triangle and a white star, with a yellow triangle and a red star.

Convergence and Union

(Image)

Ideology: Catalan independentism, economic liberalism, pro-European, Catalan and Social Democracy, liberalism and Christian democracy.
Political position: Centre-right

Convergència i Unió (CiU) was, first, a stable coalition (1978-2001), and then a federation (2001-2015) between two Catalanist political parties, formed by the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC), liberal, and Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC), Christian Democrat.

The federation dissolved on June 18, 2015, as a result of discrepancies in the political project of both parties that formed it. Currently, however, the federation still has a representation in the municipalities in which it was presented (and obtained at least one councilor) in the municipal elections of 2015, since these were held one month before the dissolution of the federation and, until 2019 (the year in which there are elections again), in the municipal governments in which CiU obtained representation will still be in CiU, not as a CDC or UDC.

Popular Unity Candidacy

(Image)

Ideology: Catalan independentism, anticapitalism, eurocepticism, ecology and feminism
Political position: extreme left

National affiliation: CUP-CC

The Popular Unit Candidacy (CUP) is an organization set up as a joint political organization whose scope is the Catalan Countries and which, working from the municipal sphere, works for independent, socialist, ecologically sustainable, Catalan Countries, Territorially balanced and non-patriarchal. It differs from the traditional political parties in that all the decisions of the party are taken by the militants and not their elected officials, thus applying direct democracy. Through its councilors, the CUP applies to the Municipal Hall of Municipalities the decisions taken by its members in the Local Assembly. At the same time, it promotes the associative fabric and local social movements and denounces the high salaries that professional politicians charge by giving, for example, a portion of their salary to the Local Assembly.

Ideology

The CUP is a joint political organization of scope and national scope, that extends throughout the Catalan Countries and that, starting from the municipal scope, works for independent, socialist, ecologically sustainable, territorially balanced and non-patriarchal Catalan Countries.

In the same way, the CUP through the "popular unit" bet by:

1-The defense of the political rights of the Catalan people: the exercise of the right to self-determination, participatory democracy, the defense of unity and territoriality of the whole of the Catalan Countries.
2-The defense of the rights of the popular classes and equality: towards a society of redistribution of wealth, the fight against unemployment and precariousness, the defense of public services, the establishment of mechanisms of popular control of the Economics and the deployment of effective policies that guarantee gender equality.
3-The defense of the territory: against the ecological and urban aggressions, against the splitting of the territory and its destruction to the benefit of a few, and a truly sustainable development.
4-The defense of the language and the national identity: for the unity of the language, the officiality of Catalan throughout the national territory, its own cultural and self-centered cultural industries, the strengthening of the cultural fabric of popular roots throughout the Països Catalans .

The Popular Party

(Image)

Ideology: Liberalism, Constitutionalism, Autonomy, European Federalism, Postnationalism, Laicism - Popularism.
Political position: Right .

The Partido Popular Català (in Spanish: Partido Popular Catalán, also known as: Partido Popular de Catalunya or Partido Popular, acronym: PPC) It was created in January 1989 with the birth of the Popular Party, heir of the People's Alliance. Headquartered in the Urgell street of Barcelona, it is currently chaired by Nicolau Carles.

Ideology

Described as the main conservative-liberal party dels Paisos Catalans, the PP evolved into a conservative party, with elements of Christian democracy and, above all, liberal elements in economic policy. He transformed the party into a more modern organization into a "Christian Democratic" line, and the economist Vicenç Navarro accused the PP of a conservative-neoliberal coalition with a neoliberal economic policy.

According to Juan Avilés Farré, the Popular Party used a pragmatic Europeanist discourse,

The PP in the statutes of 2012 is defined as a political formation of a reformist, pro-European center that defends Christian humanism.

Citizens

(Image)

Political position: Right center.

Citizens - Party of Citizenship (electoral name: Citizens - Party of Citizenship, official name in Spanish: Citizens - Party of Citizens, acronym: Cs) is a political party of Spanish scope originated in Catalonia. He is self-defined as a liberal progressive, and non-nationalist, although he is often classified as a party that does politics of right. Cs defends the individual freedoms among citizens and their rapprochement to the institutions, always from a constitutional point of view.

Ideology

The essential lines approved at the founding congress are based on the rejection of Catalanism and on the defense of individual freedoms, equality between citizens and bilingualism (in the Catalan Countries). Until now, his ideology had been shaped by two public manifests, in which they had opposed Catalanism, which they considered dominating the Catalan Countries from the Transition, and to the consequences of this hegemony, which they value Negative for coexistence, citizen rights and democracy. He has often been described as a Spanish, anticatalanist and lerrouxist party because of the resemblance of his anti-Catalanist speech with the speech of the Radical Republican Party.

His ideology is articulated in the following five main axes:

* Citizenship: territories have no rights, only people have it. In April 2013, he proposed removing the health card from immigrants in an "irregular" condition, arguing that "in times of scarce resources they should be careful about how they are used" and that "tourists and people who have entered Irregular way should not have the same right to access medical services that people who are living in the country in a regular situation. "
* Freedom and equality: promotes the critical spirit and advocates for democratic and enlightened values. The state must promote equal opportunities so that neither the ethnic origin, nor the language, nor sex, nor the economic position of the family, determine privileges.
* Abortion: Citizens have consistently abstained on the abortion right proposed to the Catalan Parents' Parliament. Doing so explicitly in February 2014 when Parliament called for the immediate removal of the draft bill submitted by the then Justice Minister.
* Secularism understood as the neutrality of the public Administration in both religious and identity aspects, and defense of democratic and illustrated values. The feelings and the identities (national, regional, religious ...) are respectable as private activities, but they can not be allowed to be imposed before the public rights of individuals. In April 2013, Citizens proposed amending the law in order to prohibit the use of the burqa in public buildings as well as in the street.
* Defense of bilingualism: the concept of "own language" is a nationalist concept. In Catalan Countries there are three official languages, used indistinctly by their citizens, which will be against any type of institutional discrimination due to language.
* Tax system: Citizens have been opposed to any increase in taxes arguing the liberal dogma. Thus he voted against establishing a tax that would tax bank deposits and increase the tax on inheritances. He has voted against approving a tax on emissions of polluting gases, as well as a tax increase to record Internet operators in favor of the audiovisual sector. He also abstained in the vote approving the Commercial Time Law aimed at restricting the liberalization of the trade sector.

In March 2017 we could break it off and in May they formally adopted the name of Catalonia in Common. His president is Eulàlia Agustí.

Ideology

The party is defined as a sum of left-wing parties. Within their public ideology, they promote an economic and ecological model based on the common good, a just and egalitarian society, a fraternal and sovereign, feminist and inclusive country. The party defends the right to decide and conduct a referendum but in the sense of the vote, where it would give freedom to its constituency.

Initiative for Green Catalans

(Image)

Ideology: Ecosocialism, federalism, anti-capitalism, republicanism, feminism and catalanism.
Political position: Left.

In the defining documents of ICV, expressions often appear ecosocialism, ecopacifism, transformative left, left alternative or left green national.

According to the same definition, Iniciativa per Catalunya Verds is an organization of the national green left that fights for a society of men and women, free and equal, in a habitable planet and, with the widest citizen participation, drives the construction of a social and political majority of the left wing in the Catalan Countries.

The Government approves the bill for electronic voting for residents abroad

Image

The Minister of Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency of the Government of Catalonia, Ernest Maragall, announced on Tuesday the approval of the bill to enable the electronic voting of Catalans living abroad, a norm that is not He came to approve Parliament in the previous legislature when the House was dissolved for the application of article 155 of the Constitution.

At the press conference after the meeting of the Catalan Executive, Foreign Affairs Minister Ernest Maragall emphasized that this bill, approved today again by the Executive Board, is only for "the elections to the Parliament and electoral procedures or consultations that are the competence of the Generalitat ".

Maragall emphasized that the Government recovers this law, which reminded that the process was not completed in Parliament because 155 was applied to "guarantee the right to vote and improve participation rates".

The counselor has confided that the law has sufficient support in the Catalan Chamber - it requires a qualified majority of two thirds - and it has even been asked in a rhetorical way: "Is it imaginable that there is any group against it?".

Official Communiqué - Policy Committee of the Caritist Social Union
Akrovix Dáltakríva - Étilakirstuv Karitarisēx Askolaþūrá

After in-depth consultation with our foreign policy advisors and consideration by the Policy Subcommittee for International Affairs and Interparty Relations, the Caritist Social Union hereby declares its support for the Popular Party and their leader Nicolau Carles in the upcoming parliamentary election in Països Catalans. We believe that a truly just society and a prosperous future for the people of the Catalan lands can only be arrived at through a principled and evolutionary approach to political reform guided by Christian humanism. We believe that a centre-right coalition of the Popular Party and Convergence & Union would deliver an administration that embraces the richness of the Catalan/Valencian language and regional culture while steering clear of narrow linguistic nationalism, and that works to improve the economic, social, and spiritual wellbeing of the people while rejecting revolutionary transformations and materialistic conceptions of the human condition.

We wish Mr. Carles and all other candidates standing for the PP the best of luck as they contest this election and work to provide a new Christian-democratic pathway to economic prosperity, social justice, and spiritual renewal for the Catalan countries.

Good afternoon.

I was more than pleased to receive your message to provide my support for a party involved in Paisos Catalans' current Parliamentary Campaign. Following some deliberation with advisers and other members of my party, the Barboneian Työväenpuolue, or Worker's Party, on behalf of the Commonwealth of Barboneia, would like to extend my support for the Comunistes dels Paisos Catalans, or Communists of the Catalan Countries, in hopes that they will prove to ever progress the needs and hopes of the workers and working class of the Catalan Countries, and bring them onward towards prosperity. It is my solemn belief that, no matter which party acquires the most support, the nation will prosper as a whole.

May fortune shine favorably upon you, and may the Catalan Countries continue to thrive.
