Interesting Minorities in your nation?

[Suhkkot]

Exactly what the title says. Sukkot has quite a few due to it's position between two large empires, and the country's nature of being one welcoming to refugees and skilled immigrants.

Sukkot was founded by a tribe of Jewish Turkic-speaking peoples called the Proto-Suhkkim, who have split into many different ethnic groups. The Hedahi are the main group, and all of these tribes used to use the Karaite liturgy in their practices, but have recently switched to either Conservative or Reform rites in the 1910s.

The majority of the population are Ashkenazim, but there is a peculiar population of Yiddish-speaking Muslims who constitute a whole village in the south of the country. Numbering 3,000 individuals, this people-group used to be much, much larger, peaking at 20,000+ individuals in the Litwaki Province. However, during the Zionist One-Party rule, these people have either moved to other areas of the world and assimilated into those cultures, were killed during a general genocide targeting non-Jewish peoples, or assimilated into other Muslim ethnic groups in the nation. The village was able to avoid upheaval due to trusting nearby Hedahi families with their properties.

The Western Border has a sizable population of Lutheran Germans, who were invited by Kaganid khans in the 1700s-1800s. The population of this ethnic group peaked at 28% of the country, and lowered drastically after both One-Party rule and gradual immigration to the west.

[Ru-]

Perhaps it could be considered interesting that humans are considered a minority in Ru. Taken as a whole, they are the predominant minority making up a little under 40% of the population. Most have Ruvian ancestry dating back several thousand years, just like the majority ethnicity, as the earliest days of Ru saw humans and foreign peoples of all kinds brought into the empire as slaves and servants. Not to mention the human dominated Kingdom of the Lakes, which was conquered and incorporated into the empire as the Northern Lakes province and creating a new group of humans in the Ruvian aristocratic class as a result.

In more modern times, there are many humans in Ru that have immigrant ancestry instead. Ancient Ru's strict caste system was much more heavily based on birth, lineage, and wealth rather than race. This has created and contributed to a bit more tolerance, however Ruvian history, and the origin of humans in Ru as predominantly making up the servant classes (which the one notable exception of the conquered nobility of the Lake peoples.) And a significant economic gap between the majority and later generation human populations has still created a large amount of racial tension that exists in Ru to this day.

Ru is considered a melting pot nation. While it can be rather typical for many Ruvians to lump humans all together as just being human, there are human races from all over the world calling Ru home. As well as a significant variety of Drailen cultures as well. The lands of Ru are geographically vast and diverse. Each of the provinces was once it's own independant kingdom or society at one point in time, and a few are made up of even smaller groups of native tribes or city-states. The Eastern half of Ru alone has several startling different eastern cultures depending on which city or group of villages one may be visiting.

[Cottony]

The only oddity in terms of minorities in Cottony is the one Catholic family from France. We don't quite know how they ended up here, but it's probably linked to the French Cottonian rule in northern Cottony... Maybe they moved into the Cottonian Empire before colonisation and moved onto Dirland during, then somehow stayed when the Empire was pushed off? It's certainly interesting, considering they're also the only openly religious family in Cottony.

[Tchud]

There are three major ethnic groups in the Imperial Republic. Firstly there are the Tchudi people, from whom the nation gets its name. They make up around 15% of the population and live mostly in the cities. The Tchudi are the dominant class - literate and wealthy by Tchudi standards (even the poorest Tchudi are middle class, unless they are criminals or other outcasts), they are tall and dark skinned with a noble history as warriors and conquerors.

Secondly there are the Whites. These are the descendants of Atlantyan colonists, as well as other ethnic groups that these colonists brought along with them at the time. At one time these people made up as much as 10% of the population, but since the great migrations (the rapid withdrawal of Atlantyans from many of the colonies) they now make up only around 0.2%. Many of the Whites that remain are actually mixed-race (with colonists mixing with the Tchudi natives) and weren't allowed to return to Atlantya because of the Empire's racial views. The Whites are key supporters of the regime and are disproportionately represented in Tchud's bureaucracy, as well as owning nearly 70% of arable land.

Lastly there are the Kaffele. They make up the majority in sheer numbers, but have essentially no representation in government and few rights whatsoever. They occupy a status somewhere between serfdom and slavery and make up the vast majority of those who work. They are shorter than both Whites and Tchudi, with skin that's a kind of caramel yellow-brown rather than the light pink-brown of the Whites or the deep red-brown of the Tchudi. Historically they're regarded as a primitive, weak people who deserved to be conquered and dominated by the superior Tchudi - a narrative that really took hold during colonial times thanks to Atlantyan racial scientists.

Although there are other racial groups in Tchud they tend to get lumped in with one of these three groups. For example a visiting Huazian might find themselves described as White despite not actually being a part of that ethnic group.

[Subhurbia]

Suhurbia has no dominant ethnic group, as there are 11 major ethnic groups in the nation, each being the dominant population of each of the respective 11 divisions. However, some ethnic groups are more populous than others. But one of the most interesting ethnic groups are the Pyranians, or Native Southern people. Pyranians have had a great influence on most of Suhurbia, as well as the world. Pyranians are a proud, successful people who are known to easily get what they want in life, and their culture is energetic, and full of life.

Another interesting group, are the Raegonian people, or the Native Southwestern people. These people, though not as well known as Pyranians, are known to be a strong willed, determined, independent, and hardworking people. They are good at succeeding in all areas of life. A third of all the overseas Suhurbian people that live very successful lives are of Raegonian origin.

[Achaean-League]

Achaea has small groups of Africans, mainly of Somali or Nubian descent have been present, commonly called the Puntites, after the Land of Punt. They are the descendants of orphaned children brought to Achaea between the 1960s and 1990s, and most have fully adopted Achaean culture and the Pantheon. This is due to the fact they were adopted by Hellenic and Latin Achaean people. There is a degree of racism but it is viciously shut down when found out.

[Zhouran]

Considering how extremely ethno-culturally homogeneous Zhouran is, the country doesn't really have any interesting minority groups. Although, with Zhouran having an embassy in Pyongyang, North Korea, the DPRK has an embassy in Ouyang, the Zhouranese capital. The North Korean embassy workers themselves could probably fit in the definition of interesting minorities considering Pyongyang's weird tight-control over its own citizens in other nations as well as the peculiar behaviors of North Koreans overseas due to being supervised by their minders. The Ministry of National Security strongly monitors on the North Korean embassy workers, not to mention that there are baseless rumors of the MNS kidnapping North Koreans in Europe, Middle East, and Africa who are connected to the Kim Dynasty, KPA, and the DPRK's nuclear weapons program, and sending them to classified black sites in order to be brutally tortured and interrogated.

From the 1960s right to the 1990s, the North Koreans would sometimes permit a handful of their scientists, doctors and engineers to study in Zhouran due to the high-quality rigorous education of Zhouran's universities along with the strong technically-oriented academic emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in Zhouranese academic discourse. However, following North Korea's missile program in the 1990s and further accelerated by their nuclear weapons program since the 2000s, the Zhouranese have denied permitting North Korean university students from studying in any Zhouranese universities. Not only that, even from the 1960s to 1990s, the North Korean university students studying in Zhouranese universities were strongly monitored by the MNS, not to mention that many Zhouranese people feared the North Koreans could use the knowledge gained from Zhouranese universities in waging their blood-fueled war against the South Koreans. It has been reported that half of the North Koreans who studied in Zhouranese universities ended up becoming either defectors or political prisoners, while others ended up serving as technocrats of the Kim Dynasty in various fields such as nuclear weapons engineering, rocket science, etc.

We have whites and blacks as minorities. The east Europeans are settled in the western urban areas and and blacks scattered. Other whites in rural areas.

[Andocara]

• Spanish Andocarians: Distinct from Latin Americans and Spaniards, Spanish Andocarians are the descendants of the first European settlers in Andocara, being Spanish colonists. It wasn’t long before the land was taken over by the English, but Spanish Andocarians still maintain an identity to this day.

Some of extreme north-eastern Lipnitia is home to Pogors, an Eastern Slavic group which still practice native Slavic pagan faiths as opposed to the majority of the country which practices Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

[Wochaystein]

Despite the relative economic backwardness of Wochaystein, there is a community of Palaeodiarcesians that live in the northeast, near the military base of Fort Aleshut. Influences of the architecture of the capital city of Arcesius is evident in their residences.

[Pacomia]

There’s a small group around the Steel Coast Region that are a different ethnicity from the rest of Pacomia. They’re native to the area, and there’s about 925,000 of them in the Steel Coast and about 215,000 of them in the rest of Pacomia. They look similar to the Earth’s Thai and Vietnamese people.

[The Huterric Union]

There is a small minority at the very northwest of mainland continental Huterrica in the state of Wyche who speak Wychean (also called Ancient Huterric) instead of Huterric as their mother tongue. Huterric is very much a blend of the English, German, and Wychean languages with the grammar being identical to that of Wychean, so the language is incredibly easy to learn once you know Huterric. However, Wychean is one of the few languages not to derive from any other language, and Huterric is the only language with Wychean influence. Wychean has its own alphabet, but nowadays Wychean is mostly spoken and most words have been rewritten in the latin alphabet.

Only 5% of the population natively speak Wychean, whereas 30% of the population can speak it if learners are included.

[Euphrateans]

Euphrateans has basically outlawed immigration and minorities, sooo.... yeah

[Tinhampton]

Although most people are White Tinhamptonian, a not insignificant proportion of the population comes from our old colonies and allies: About 7% of Tinhamptonians are from Gladom Newion, mostly black and generally Christian of some flavour; about 4% are from Soche, mostly Black Muslims; slightly above 2% are from Demanams, mostly the white Anglican majority.

[Yamoi]

80% of Yamoians are of native Yamoian descent, either in whole or in part. The rest are various minority groups. Most of them make sense when you consider Yamoi's history and geographic location. However, one group that stands out are the Chileans.

During the early 20th century, a large number of people from Chile (mostly fishermen) emmigrated to Yamoi. Nobody is entirely sure why so many people from that specific country chose to settle in Yamoi of all places, but the fact remains that they did. Today, a little under 1% of Yamoians claim Chilean descent.
