Ostrov Svobody International Communications

Ostrov Svobody would like to extend warm greetings to our contemporaries in the world stage. Though our nation has suffered greatly under an autocrat and dealt with the fallout of successful revolution, our stability has reached a point where we would like to reach out towards the global stage and create everlasting bonds of trade, tourism, and friendship. The first step, of course, is to welcome your personnel with open arms to our newly-constructed Ambassador's District in our capital city of Zaytsevgrad.

Why Ostrov Svobody?

We are a nation that values independent freedoms, absolute democracy, and a pacifistic approach to diplomacy. New as we may be, we are buoyant on a strong state-run fishing industry which employs many of our people. Oil is also looking to be promising, though we are still constructing the necessary infrastructure. Favorable trade agreements begin, of course, with the establishment of an embassy in our capital to maintain tighter communications. We are seeking other like-minded free nations that do not suffer under the yoke of tyranny, in the interests of strengthening the individualistic ethos. Though we may not be the largest, most sprawling nation, we are growing, and are hoping to begin our international outreach before our stability is fully realized.

For the more personal reasons, Zaytsevgrad is a charming city with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. There are parks, a museum, and a few cafés and restaurants to peruse at your leisure, though we currently have a shopping mall under construction that we hope to fill with a panoply of international businesses. We have two schools that have received a majority of our funding for your younger and older children, though we also have private tutors that we can have learn your language and work around your schedules. Ambassadors will be given respect, and allowed to bring as much of their home with them as they would like - including staffing, guards, pets, and most miscellany. Your nation's ambassadorial staff will be given one of many buildings we have available in the district that are wired with standard internet and luxuries.

Unfortunately, the Ministry of International Relations sees a measure of concern with the level of armaments you are requesting to bring with your ambassadorial attaché, as well as the general lack of political and individual freedom that comes with an institution of governmental gentry and compulsory military service. Therefore, it is the unanimous decision of the chair and councilors to reject Toaslandia's application for an embassy. Communications will have to remain over secure channels.

    In Her Majesty’s Hands
    President of the Electoral College
    Elected Yohannesian Emperor
Her Excellency the President Anya Vikhrova
His Excellency the Vice President Petr Vikhrov
Honourable Members of the Ostrovyan Legislature

      From the Terra Incognita,
      In the Name of Friendship and Love;

Being desirous to create without interruption the representation at Your Excellency’s court of the interests of my people, and the Nineteen Countries of the Yohannesian continent entrusted by electoral right upon me, I have judged it expedient to accredit to Your Excellency my trusted friend and former parliamentary colleague Ms Emely Schützenberger in the character of my Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in The Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody.

Having already seen with certainty Ms Emely Schützenberger’s fervour and talent for My service, I doubt not that she will realise the important duties of her Embassy in such a manner as to merit Your Excellency’s assent and esteem, and to prove herself worthy of this new mark of My confidence.

Please convey my warm thanks to The Honourable Members of the Ostrovyan Legislature, and the Heads of Departments of Your Excellency’s government for their message of sovereign greetings, sent on this occasion of joyous moment.

    Your Friend beyond The Seas,

    MARION M

    Office of Hon Margaret Larsson
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Embassy and Consulate Programme
    Electorate of Oberluizen
    2 OCTOBER 2018

    Dear Minister of International Relations,

Thank you for your thread creation of 1 October 2018 allowing for a Parliamentary Confirmation into agreement of embassy exchange between the Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody and the Nineteen Countries of Yohannes. I am also responding on behalf of The Rt Hon First Lord Hilda Von und Zu Hartjenstein and The Hon Minister Emily Kirchweger to whom I report on the matter.

Ostrov Svobody and the Nineteen Countries, I believe, share the same values of embassy and consulate partnership, of responsible government, and a history of open diplomacy — three important things to realising a harmonious relationship between two nation states. I have been impressed also by the good manner of the Ostrovyan people during my visit to the prosperous city of Zapad Gavan’. It is for that reason that I would like to acknowledge the strength that you have shown, and are showing, in furthering the economic and social well-being of your people. Your governing principles align well with the eighth introductory principle of Economy and Industry of our nation state. That is why I am committed to realising this embassy exchange agreement.

Following the discussion held by our respective diplomats behind the scenes over the last few days, I would like to clarify that parliament did finally issue their assent on 25 September 2018, Parliamentary Motions — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary: The Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody, which confirmed the letter of credence of Her Excellency Emely Schützenberger in her place as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Realm of Yohannes to the Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody. A copy of the Executive Council’s response and parliament’s final assent and report of stipulations in their entirety will be published on the Electoral Debates Hansard website shortly.

I am keen to encourage Yohannesian businesses to participate in the Ostrovyan market. As I suggested based on the discussion at our last meeting, I believe that new commerce and trade between companies of our respective citizen sectors may offer new opportunities to maintain our respective nation states’ growth target for the fiscal year 2018-2019.

I would like to finish by acknowledging the important contribution Her Excellency the President Anya Vikhrova is making to the cause of open diplomacy and the principle of open embassy exchange between members of the international community of nation states and regions. I hope that I will be able to attend the Ambassador Introduction event next week, and I look forward to seeing you then.

    Yours sincerely,

    MARGARET

Nation Name: The Realm of Yohannes
Why are you interested in Ostrov Svobody? Bilateral diplomacy with the Government of Ostrov Svobody to focus on long-standing agreements between our two nations such as cultural exchanges, embassies, and trade agreements.

Emely Carina Schützenberger, Her Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (born 20 March 1979), is a Yohannesian diplomat and solicitor who is the first and current Ambassador of the Nineteen Countries to the Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody. Her accreditation was registered by parliament on 1 October 2018.

Raised by her parents Harald and Patricia in the Grand Duchy of Kradenmark, Schützenberger was educated at the private Queen Theresa’s College in Vång and attended the Guildford University to study Law. Upon her graduation in 2001, she was nominated to become one of many promising interns for the World Assembly Mission of the Nineteen Countries. Schützenberger returned to the continent of Yohannes after two years to work at the specialist business law and corporate solicitor firm Berthold Bessemer in the Regency of Lindblum. Coming into contact with the then local Member of Parliament for the Nemencius electorate, the Late Lennard Kellermann, her name was forwarded as a possible Legal Attaché for the Yohannesian embassy in the Confederate States of Arkinesia.

In February 2018, following the electoral victory and subsequent reign of The Right Honourable Marion Jeanne Maréchal-Le Men as the eighteenth Yohannesian Emperor, Schürmann was nominated, in her position as a senior diplomat and provisional parliamentary adviser to the Thirty-sixth Christian Democratic Executive Council by then, as a possible candidate for the Office of Ambassador of the Nineteen Countries in Ostrov Svobody. In October 2018, her candidacy was finalised before parliament’s select committee, and following her accreditation she became the first Ambassador of the Nineteen Countries to the Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody.

From the desk of President Anya Vikhrova, Protector of the People.

I write this letter extemporaneously, having been moved quite greatly by the personal address.

Warmest greetings, exalted Empress and President Marion M;

Our ambassadorial programme has been an issue of importance to our people, and one of much trepidation and nervousness. A nation of our size would usually be brushed aside as an uninteresting satellite, to send a keynote ambassador to for the express purpose of keeping an eye out for any developments that might warrant interdiction - wanted or otherwise. I was quite touched to see this arrive in my office, as was Vice President Vikhrov. Though the decision will not fall squarely on my shoulders whether or not to accept your embassy, your diplomatic intonation and well-intentions have sparked a mutual interest in the exploration of a relationship between our two nations. To that end, I will be speaking to my esteemed colleagues in the Ministry of International Relations to hereby recommend an expedited process to establish these relations. I am personally impressed and ever-eager to begin these proceedings.

Here's hoping for stronger relations sooner. The Minister of International Communications, Mr. Ilya Dudko will hopefully send a reply with any concerns, change requests, or further questions. Hopefully any problems can be ameliorated swiftly, should any arise at all.

On behalf of the people of the Democratic Republic of Ostrov Svobody,

Our warmest regards,

Anya Vikhrova President of Ostrov Svobody, Protector of the People.

From the office of Ilya Dudko, Minister of International Relations, regarding the ambassadorial application of the nation of Yohannes and H.E. Ms. Emely Schützenberger

Warmest greetings to The Honorable Margaret Larsson, First Lord Von und Zu Hartjenstein, and Minister Kirchweger. As well as Ms. Schützenberger;

Regarding your pending ambassadorial application.

We have been happy to receive your delegation's approval, as well as a kind - and sudden visit to our shining city of industriousness. Furthermore, we are pleased to know that the Ostrovyan hospitality was to your liking. With our economy spurring to life, we are hoping that your staff will find Zeytsevgrad - and, by extension - the rest of Ostrov Svobody to your liking as more businesses and recreational areas open up. We hope to be a free, and clean place where Ms. Schützenberger, Mr. von Reichenau, and the retinue of staff will be able to call home. Of course, if the tone of this letter isn't indication, we have unilaterally decided to accept the Yohannesian delegation within our approval committee. Attached to this letter will be the location and specifications of your embassy, a quick overview of Ostrovyan cultural facts for an easier integration, and a few small requests that should hopefully not be too egregious; all in the name of safety and clarity between the Ostrovyan Militsiya, citizenry, and the ambassador.

We must also state our exuberant approval of the Yohannesian way of life. Exemplary nations such as your own are benchmarks in our emergent, optimistic hopes for Ostrov Svobody. It is our sincere desire that this embassy shall be a first step in what shall be a healthy relationship of trade, communication, and exchange of ideas. We look forward to welcoming the Yohannesian people with open arms.

There should be [2]two attachments underneath, all addressed on proper stationery. If any are missing, please send a missive back to this ministry as quickly as you are able to.

We look forward to meeting you!

Mr. Ilya Dudko, Minister of International Relations.

Your embassy will be located closest to the Senate Hall and office of the Executive, located on 1389 EMBASSY BLVD. A spacious two-story building in a comfortable town-house style. electrically wired above-and-beyond standards for fire safety, surge protection, and the ability to operate a high capacity of electronics at once for the staff's convenience. It will be 12,000 square feet, with a main floor, top floor, and basement.

The ground floor will include working spaces for your security detail, minor secretaries, and custodial staff, which can be arrayed as you prefer. It features a modest, but serviceable restaurant-style kitchen. with stainless-steel appliances, and complimentary dishware. There are two separate stairwells to the upper floor, and the basement. A common area with a flat-screen television is available for your off-duty staff, guests, and families.

The top floor will be almost exclusively space for the ambassador's affairs. The main attraction, on the north side of the building, is a luxurious office which may be decorated per your standards or tastes. There is also a master suite with adjoined bathroom available to the ambassador. If desired, there is spare space for staff in each floor - though we are also able to subsidize nearby apartments that are suitable for working households.

The basement is hopefully something that will not have to be used as much. It includes a small server room for your connectivity needs, a panic room in the event of an emergency, and an armory where your guards can safely store their firearms and ammunition.. With a central camera monitoring room adjacent. Cameras are installed for almost total coverage, except for the ambassador's bedroom, bathroom, and study. Removal of cameras can be done on request, though Ostrov Svobody does not have access to the feeds.

Our warmest salutations to you,

We are appreciative of Dreshand's efforts to connect with Ostrov Svobody. As we are geographically close nations, it is within our best interests to seek cultural, and economic exchange. We are more than willing to settle you in our building on 1401 EMBASSY BLVD, however, we have a few concerns that we wished to bring up before we went ahead with our settling process. We ask that you do not take offense, as these are merely concerns, and can be sated with sufficient reasoning. We look forward to your swift reply, and we ask that you answer these questions in earnest, with said reasoning provided.

This paper is for authorized personnel only. If you are not authorized personnel of the I.S. of DRESHAND, please turn this paper in to your nearest government building.

Issues regarding the embassy of Dreshand,

1: Number of guard staff. Though we can appreciate a desire to keep your ambassador safe, we are a small nation with a non-existent military. Your embassy would be on a street that is overseen by the central police station of Zaytsevgrad. Would you be willing to lower this number to 10 maximum? If not, why?

2: Armaments. Though we are pleased you would not be bringing automatic weaponry, would you be willing to downgrade to sidearms that can be concealed in a jacket or chest holster? As ambassadors are permitted to leave the premises with their guards armed, it is our desire not to cause confusion or panic in our citizenry.

If something in your post is breaking the format of the forum, don't just leave it; try and fix it. Certainly don't re-post something similar that is clearly causing a problem right after it, either. At least attempt to fix it; this is why guides on BBCode exist.

If, after all that, you can't fix it, then report it. Don't just let it sit.

We are pleased to see such a swift response to our original application. Most of us here within the Incorporated States are pleased to see the cooperative attitude towards shared progress that sadly many other nations lack. We understand your concerns and will address them below, we hope we can better accommodate to our hosts and grow towards a much brighter future together.

1: We understand your concerns and are willing to meet your demands, at the time of writing we are already reassigning excess personnel to bring security personnel numbers down.

2: In regards to armaments we would like to suggest a compromise, while we too understand that your government would like to avoid unpleasant public reactions to foreign dignitaries, I'm afraid we cannot simply discard our current armaments due to security concerns as well as the personal request of our Ambassador. Instead we would propose that the armaments listed in our original document would be only equipped on embassy grounds. When leaving the embassy all security personnel will follow the restrictions you have put in place.

OOC: I should learn to write responses like you and Yohannes more
