Streuburgan General Election of 2018

It's time for another election! After 3 terms and 12 years as Chancellor Rudolf Klosser is stepping down. King Charles Frederick IV has desolved The Streuburgan Grand Parliament from today (9/10/18) until the final vote is counted in this election. So, what will happen? Will the Social Democrats hold onto their majority, will the United Conservatives break their 12 year losing streak, or will minor parties rise up? It's for you to decide!

The Social Democrat Party
Ideology: Centre-left, progressivism, big government

Candidate: Norbert Spiegel

Bio: Born in Hamburg on May 10th, 1961, Norbert Achim Spiegel is currently a MP representing the eastern parts of the Hamburg Metro Area. Ever since he was elected to the position in 1996, he has served to further the progress of social equality, and environmental reform. He has campaigned on continuing the legacy of Chancellor Rudolf Klosser, And he will be the first second Jew to become Chancellor.

The United Conservative League
Ideology: Centre-right, Conservatism, big military

Candidate: Dr. Carla von Maissel

Bio: Born in Kiel, in June 21st, 1969, Dr. Carla Marina von Maissel was born to an aristocratic family of military commanders and statesman, most notably her uncle, Chancellor Lukas von Maissel (1970-1978). In 2006, two years after graduating from Wolter University with a PhD in Politcal Science, she beat the 29 year long incumbent for be a Senator representing Schleswig. She continued to be a rising star in the UCL when in 2017, it was suggested that she should run in the party's primary for Chancellorship. She won , foiling Hübert Eichel's dream for a second run. If Von Maissel wins, she will be the first female elected as Chancellor.

Equal Pay Party
Ideology: Democratic Socialism, most ideas of Marx, Progressivism, Anti-War, leftism

Candidate: Magnus Hildebrandt

Bio: Born in the outskirts of Krefeld on November 4th, 1972, Hildebrandt was born to a relatively lower-middle class family. After receiving a scholarship and studying in Wolter Law, he began his work to help the working class. He did this by founding multiple organizations to help the poor. After working on this for almost 15 years, he was appointed as the Labor Minister in 2013 after the death of the incumbent. In the election the following year, he ran to represent Krefeld and won by a landslide. Now, representing the Equal Pay Party, he hopes to win the Chancellorship.
Chances of winning: unlikely


The Populist Front
Ideology: Far-right beliefs, anti-immigration, anti-EU, anti-King CF4, strong military, protection of values

Candidate: Josef Metzger

Bio: Born in the captial city of Kloyding, in January 22nd, 1974, to a middle class family, Josef always spoke his mind as a child. This came much to the dismay of his teachers, and he was punished accordingly. But after serving in the navy for three years, he became a journalist. After working for The Hamburg Coin for close to a decade, he got a tv show on a popular news channel. There, he gained a following, and then wrote some books about his beliefs. Although sold alright in the General populace, it was a best seller amoung those with the Populist Front, a place he soon found a home. In 2014, he decided to run under the PF ticket, and lost horribly. But now, people are getting tired of the decade with Klosser, and they want a change.

Streuburgan expatriates residing in Alpenzell generally support the incumbent SDP. As such, a vote has been cast in their favour.

"Folks since it's 11:30, we can now confirm that every vote have been casted. So we can also see that Norbert Spiegel, and the SDP have hanged on to both houses of government.
