The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has decided to open a poll where foreign nations can show their support to the party of their choosing. This well help us see what other nations think about our parties.
Change 2018 (C18)
Short background: Leader of the party,Oleg Glagolev, was born in 1962 in Petrozavodsk. He worked at the local coal mines when he was a child. When he was 16, he was offered a job in the Workers' Nationalist Party. He moved to Forssa, the capital of Viksberg, to study when he was 23.
In 2000 he started The Brothers of Freedom, a resistance group to combat the communists. This group eventually evolved into a party, that is today known as Change 2018.
In the early 2018, when the communist regime fell, Oleg's party had so much popularity that it was able to form the new government alone. However, Change 2018 has lost a lot of support since their corruption was discovered. Polls suggest that they will suffer a defeat in the election, and end up in the opposition.
Party Info:
Ideology: Christian democracy, agrarianism, social conservatism
Political position: Authoritarian centre to centre-right
Viksbergian Coalition (VC)
Short background: Leader of the Coalition, Heidi Lõoke, was born in 1984 in Narva. Her parents were executed a short time after her birth, since they actively campaigned against the communist regime. She grew up with her grandparents in Tallinn. When Heidi was eventually told the truth about her parents, she was devastated. This didn't stop her from becoming very successful at a young age, though. At the age of 21, she had already been Viksberg's ambassador to five different countries. At the age of 24, she was the head of the state-owned Company for Arms Manufacturing. And finally, at the age of 34, she was one of the leading figures in the March on Forssa, a surprisingly non-violent protest which was one of the final blows to the already weak communist regime.
Heidi is expected to lead the party to success in the election, having one of the highest support ratings at the moment.
Party info:
Ideology: Liberalism, liberal conservatism, economic liberalism
Political position: Libertarian centre-right
Social Democrats of Viksberg (SDV)
Short Background: Leader of the Social Democrats, Daniel Jansson, was born in 1982 in Gothenburg. He was born to a family of fanatic communists. This, and the fact that Viksberg was communist back then, made it hard for Daniel to say his opinion on anything that his family and other communists disagreed with. When he told his family that he politically identifies himself as a social democrat, they threatened to turn him over to the government. They decided not to do this, but they still disowned Daniel. Luckily he was old enough to live on his own at that point. He eventually became a teacher in the city of Stockholm.
In 2017 Niko Suominen, a good friend of Daniel, became the president of Viksberg. Daniel started persuading him to allow democratic elections, but Niko wouldn't listen. After that Daniel and other people all around Viksberg organized a mass strike. Daniel told Niko that if he really cared about Viksberg, he should allow democratic elections, which would end the strike. Finally, in early 2018, after the March on Forssa and after the army and the police arrested the most influential communist politicians, Niko Suominen allowed democratic elections, ending the communist regime.
Although left-wing ideologies haven't had much popularity since the communist regime fell, Daniel is expected to lead his party into an influential position in the People's Council.

Ideology: Social democracy, democratic socialism

Patriotic Party of Viksberg (PPV)
Short background: Leader of the Patriotic Party, Teuvo Soini, was born in 1962 in Rauma. Due to his father being a sergeant in the army, Teuvo started to create a career for himself in the army as well. However, his plans were ruined when he was injured in the Soviet-Afghan war, where he was sent as a part of the volunteer troops of Viksberg. Teuvo wasn't allowed to continue serving in the army after the injury. He was sad about this, but decided to move on with his life. He started studying at the University of Forssa and graduated as Master of Political Science when he was 28 years old.
Although Teuvo wasn't allowed to serve in the army, he still kept close ties to friends he met there. Teuvo's connections to the army proved to be useful, when the army decided to something about the oppressive communist regime. Teuvo was a member of a group called Citizens for the Freedom of our Fatherland (which is today known as the Patriotic Party of Viksberg). Teuvo's group worked together with the Brothers of Freedom, and they had planned an armed revolt for a long time. The only thing they needed was weapons and the army's support. In early 2018, Teuvo, his group, Brothers of Freedom and the army launched their plan. The army went and arrested communist politicians and army leaders, while Teuvo and the rest clashed with the last supporters of the communist regime. The death toll was high, but this revolt was one of the most important strikes against the communists. A few days later, the communist regime fell.
Even though his party has been insignificant to this day, Teuvo was able to get a lot of the former Change 2018 supporters on his side. This is why some believe Teuvo will surprise everybody and lead his party to victory.
