Maotelia | Fantasy Medieval Region

The lands of Maotelia is a fantasy medieval world based in which kingdoms & nationstates reign over the lands, magic is exerted by the willed, Dragons are revered as Gods and much more in which you the user decide the rest as you build the world of Maotelia by your actions as a nation.

Joining the region of Maotelia is free to the public, although those wanting to participate in the lore, appear on the map, etc... must fill out a form, that is if they meet the requirements to do so.

Is this still accepting applications? I'm interested, but I'd like to ask a few questions -

- are we allowed to develop our own religions, or is the dragon-worship generally recognized as the worldwide faith?
- how exactly does magic work? Is it easy or difficult for the majority of people?

Maotelia is and still open to applications

- Yes you may develop your own religious institution, dragon-worship is just the generalize faith.
- Magic is a difficult art, one must be born with the affinity for it and or undergo intensive training (This is a good question, I may make some changes on the topic of magic based on races.)

Nation Name: SIndhus

Government Type: Absolute Theocratic Monarchy

Head of State: (De facto leader) High Zealot, Azima on the Path

Capital: Mais Ra Otash

Race Group(s): Human

Backstory: Sindhus was a tiny and immaterial emirate on the southeastern shores of Elashia for the majority of recorded history, known for its stern people and cheap mercenaries. Sindhusi coastal towns imposed stiff taxes on sea trade in the region, making the ruling nobles considerably rich while the common mob remained impecunious. This situation remained static until a beggar named Herima wandered into the capital city and began preaching tenants of a strange new faith, one that held fire as a holy entity and denounced the dragons as false idols. His followers grew and quickly came into conflict with the crown's men, but even the power of the monarchy could not hold back the tide of fanatically devoted urban poor for long. A religious revolution swept the capital and the emir's palace was stormed. The royal family was captured and desolated, a Sindhusi form of execution that involves being nailed to a marble disk and being left to be eaten by carrion birds.

With the old order uprooted, Herima was named 'Beacon' and he assumed direct control of the capital, which he remained Mais Ra Otash, or Flame of Salvation. The Beacon oversaw the construction of his first official temple, called a Signal, and then burned himself alive in a display of devotion to his faith. After his death, the military stepped in to form a new government. A general named Kardadis Razah was made the new emir, and the new college of religious officials called zealots effectively became the administrative body of the nation.

Kardadis Razah's dynasty thrived for nearly a century, creating an army of preeminently disciplined soldiers that conquered the surrounding areas and brought them under both the administrative and religious control of Sindhus. The Sindhusi legions enforced their strict religious laws on all conquered peoples, putting particular focus on the expulsion or extermination of nonhumans from their new lands.

With the shocking death of the current emir by a terrible disease and the mysterious murder of his singular heir, the country is now under the firm control of the religious and military authorities until a new candidate can be selected for the monarchy.

- Your backstory is sufficient and overall a great example for reference
- Your starting claim is a tad bit larger than I had expected, but I'll make a minor pixel adjustment.

Nation Name: Umbræn

Government Type: Matriarchal elective constitutional monarchy

Head of State: Queen of Umbræn and the Umbræ, Ophelia III

Capital: Magreumos

Race Group(s): Dark Elves

Backstory: Umbræn was founded in the aftermath of the collapse of the old Umbræ Empire, an expansionist power that worshiped dark gods and enslaved races the Umbræ believed to be inferior to themselves. This evil empire remained virtually unchallenged due to it's sheer might and power, but was eventually brought down by a coalition of aligned races which toppled the malevolent slaver state, driving it's denizens into hiding. The Umbræ are currently believed to be extinct, but in actuality they had fled to a recently discovered hidden vale - the entrance to which they have hidden via a powerful magical enchantment - and now live in isolation and repentance for their formerly malignant ways. They have since abandoned the practice of slavery, worship of the dark gods, and any notions of racial superiority as the destruction of their empire and the subsequent civil war that followed had shaken them to their core, and exposed them to their villainous nature. They currently keep themselves hidden from the rest of the world, fearing possible retaliation from the other races that they believe will be unwilling to forgive the past deeds of their long-dead empire.

Umbræn has remained undiscovered for over 800 years, during which it has undergone a radical cultural revolution that has produced a new identity which is simultaneously completely separate from the old imperial identity without outright rejecting it. The Queendom has been ruled by Ophelia III since it's founding, with she herself being one of the last Umbræ alive who had seen the Empire first-hand for the tyrannical blight upon the world that it truly was. Her own haunting deeds in service of the Empire and during the civil war have driven the sorrowful sovereign to undertake precautions to prevent traditionalists and revisionists from bringing about the return of the old Empire in all it's wicked glory, while also making sure that Umbræn remains well-hidden and, barring that, well-defended.

The changes that have occurred in Umbræ society are pronounced in their efforts to move away from outright matriarchal tendencies in favor of true gender equality, while their renouncement of their former dark faith has left them largely spiritual and agnostic, though not atheistic. Likewise, their xenophobia - which was initially supremacist in nature - has morphed into a fear of the foreign (more specifically foreign retribution for past sins), leading them to remain slightly prejudiced and furthering their isolationist nature.

Nation Name: Hamidoğulları Beyliği (just shorten it to Hamidi Beylik)

Government Type: Absolute monarchy / Beylik (warlord state)

Head of State: Selim Abdul Hamidoğlu

Capital: İnhisar

Race Group(s): turk/kurd.



The Hamidoğlu dynasty: a classic warlord state, semi-nomadic turc tribe who conquered the surrounding area. Selim Hamidoğlu bey rules with his family over a rather small area.
His Grandfather, Hamid, was installed as governor by the Seldjuk dynasty, but as those overlords were under threat from their borders and eventually defeated, Hamid declared himself independent.
His father Mehmed conquered the port city of İnhisar, establishing himself as Emir and consolidating his reign.
His grandson Selim has his seat in the same city, though he prefers to travel and enlarge the Beylik. The Hamidoğulları are devout sunni muslims though they see all existing caliphs as illegitimate.
As magic is concerned, Allah blessed the Sufi orders, their frenzied dancing and whirling unleashes the ancient arcane powers of the steppes and mountains,
empowering the warriors and giving them greater energy in battle...or so they claim. The real strength of the Hamidoğulları are their excellent horse archers and swarm tactics.
The Hamidoğulları maintain good relations to their fellow nomads and warriors, seeing themselves as Gaziler, as warriors for the prophet.

Oh, I thought by race you meant ethnic origin... sorry :rofl:
