Heroes in Your Nation

Postby US-SSR » Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:46 pm

Here in the US-SSR we recognize and honor our many heroes. Our heroes are great and brave men and women who do not worry or lose their spirit as they protect our great Colony.

Heroes in the US-SSR do a fantastic job of keeping us safe...

...and protecting us from the worst criminal elements.

Heroes in the US-SSR are so brave. They are the bravest heroes ever!

How does your nation honor its heroes? Sorry they are not as brave as ours. SAD

We're not going to control the pandemic!

It is a slaughter and not just a political dispute.

"The scraps of narcissism, the rotten remnants of conspiracy theories, the offal of sour grievance, the half-eaten bits of resentment flow by. They do not cohere. But they move in the same, insistent current of self, self, self."

Amenria honours heroes, as well as military and government officials, for that matter, by treating them like celebrities. They get posters, commercials, merchandise, basically stuff you'll usually associate with idols. You'll see fanart, fanfics, and other fanmade things about Amenrian superheroes and people from the Imperial Amenrian Armed Forces or various branches of the government and that's pretty normal considering all the good they do.

Lmao your last sentence is hilarious. Amenrian heroes aren't afraid of death because if they do die, they'll die as martyrs and go directly to Heaven without having their past sins weighed first. Who's sad now?
The Empire of Amenria (亚洲帝国)
Sinocentric Asian theocratic absolute monarchy. Set 28 years in the future. On-site factbooks are no longer canon. A 13.14 civilization, according to this index.

Who is Tinhampton?

Postby Tinhampton » Tue Aug 21, 2018 5:58 am

No Tinhamptonian can truly be considered a hero unless he acts in defence of himself, his nation and his pride. If you do not have any of this in a man, you have a coward; if you have none of this in a man, he is unworthy of being a Tinhamptonian.
~~~ Lt. Euan McGregor, a then-devout Communist who admittedly refused to take part in that year's revolution, 8th November 1957.
On this momentous day in Tinhamptonian history, we also need to ponder the cases of the heroic men who fought back against the horrendous acts of terrorism that were threatened by Martin North and his inexplicable band of farmers. If it were not for their efforts, it is very likely that Tinhampton or its allies may have been ground to a pulp by what he described as grain silos. Well, if this were any less serious, I'd suppose he could have a bit of fun trying to detonate wheat everywhere... not that he can, of course.
~~~ Katrina Petroshenko AM's Mayoral re-election speech, 28th March 1987

That terrorist attack did not happen on my watch. It happened on theirs - that Abdullah Al-Hassan and his acquaintances could use firearms against a willingly disarmed populace. Those 56 people who shedded their lives at high noon that day could be forgiven, and the police force who stopped them dead will; these terrorists, however, will never be. I wouldn't even call them that - I'd call them blood-sucking murderous bastards. I've successfully nagged Euan and Dave into giving the remaining two-hundred and ninety thousand of you a minute's silence at noon tomorrow.
~~~ Lydia Anderson AM, then a United Conservative backbencher, 2nd October 1993.
Here in Tinhampton, we have so many heroes. We have Steve Douglas who founded our city, we have Euan McGregor who commandeered the military to take down those evil communists, we have so many other brave people who fight against our forced integration into the shambles of a global community, we might have Lydia Anderson soon if we carry on like this. But have any of these men, any of these women, arrested or impeached any illegal alien immigrants who threaten the Tinhamptonian way of life, who bring drugs and massacres and crime wherever they roam, who could destroy the entire city as we know it? H... to the E... to the DOUBLE-ELL-NO! A true hero looks a criminal bastard in the eye and says "Just royally PISS OFF!" That, and he carts him off in a black lorry too!
~~~ Nathan Ball AM, leader of the Tinhampton First Party and presently serving Infrastructure Minister, 15th March 2015.

What, Mike flipping Atherton's a hero? He doesn't work for the American Soviet Union's immigration team - how sad that he is not! Sad, I tell you! SAD! This is the saddest moment of them all, that a man can be a hero without being Immigrations and Customs control!
~~~ Fred James AM, T1P-aligned Tinhamptonian Libertarian Party acolyte, 19th August 2018
We define a hero as someone who is willing to put the lives or well being of others ahead of their own, even face danger, to keep the rest of us safe and free. They are ordinary people who do extraordinary things, that benefit society, people, and our civilization as a whole.
1. Emergency Workers: Police, Fire Fighters, EMS, Disaster First Responders. The people who run into the same danger the rest of us run away from. They deal with threats to our community, property, health, safety, and wellbeing.
2. The Military. The men and women who proudly wear the uniform of our nation, and keep us all safe and free. Since military service is compulsory, unless a person has a mental or physical condition that prevents them from doing so, almost everyone in out nation is considered a hero at one point in their lives, at least.
3. The Unsung Hero. People who work, normally without reward, to the benefit of those around them. This could be, for example, a teacher who spends extra time with a struggling student, helping them understand what they are being taught. A person who does charity work on their free time. An activist who feels it necessary to call attention to a wrong taking place. A person who sees another in trouble, and takes action on their behalf. These are some of our greatest heroes, who's work often goes unnoticed by most people, yet benefits others, and the community as well.
Being a real hero isn't always about bravery, it's about doing the right thing, for the right reason, for the benefit of others. For those who die heroically, be it a solder in battle, a First Responder in the line of duty, or just an average person, who gave their life to save others, get a memorial. The first two listed get their name written in stone in our Hall of Fallen Heroes. The latter, often get plaques or statues in their honor. As for the rest, the memories of the heroic actions they took are the only rewards they will get, along with the possible gratitude of those who benefit from their action. Just being a hero is a reward onto itself.
