It is legal as long as both parties's religions consent to it.

Because of the neko sex ratio, polygyny is not uncommon. One man can have up to two spouses but they all need to consent, and usually those two women are family members.

Article III of the Marriage Act reads:
Polygamy, recorded through history as a hallmark of increases in a culture's general level of violence and decreases in standards of legal gender equality, and furthermore being regarded as abhorrent by the majority of the empire's parent cultures, is illegal. No man shall take more than one woman as his wife, nor shall any woman take more than one man as her husband. Any marriage that violates this law shall be annulled and all property held jointly by the violating marriage transferred to government possession.

Since there's no major groups that allow polygamy and since the country's preodminately Catholic, polygamy's an illegal practice which is frowned upon by the populace.

While there are no laws prohibiting the amount of people you can be in a relationship with at once, marriage is limited to only two persons of legal age.

Illegal, with adultery also absolutely illegal. Before the Revolution, it was not illegal to have extramarital affairs or hire prostitutes. But now we also made adultery illegal in order to maintain an upright society and to find a quick excuse to put disobedient politicians and high-ranking civil servants in jail.

Polygamy is a practice that is illegal. If it does happen it is largely frowned upon and discouraged.

General not considered to be illegal, however, this isn't a issue for the central governments in the eyes of the Federal Congress, Union Council or League Government.
It is left to planet states to decide if its illegal, and by and large it is very heavily discouraged, though still legal across most of colonized space. Several species in the nation naturally just can't handle Poly, while others may be able to, but face social consequences as a result of it.

Polygamy is not recognised as legitimate marriage, and no church in the country would ever host a polygamous marriage.
Besides, such marriages are illegal.

Marriage is defined by Saiderians as a holy union between one man and one woman. So no, polygamy is not legal.

It is a crime under the law of Great Nortend for any person who is married to attempt to enter covertly or overtly into a second marriage. Any such attempted marriage is invalid. Furthermore, it is illegal for any person being present at the marriage knowing such that one of the persons to be wed is already wed to not object. This is part of the law as discovered by the King's courts, known as the King's law (or 'Queen's law' during the reign of a female sovereign). There is no statute law covering polygamy in itself, however there have been recent cases such as Alsmith v Alsmith where it has been held that a man marrying a new bride on the belief of the death of his wife is illegal.

Since most marriages are common law and the ones that aren't are more of an economic thing than anything else, we don't regulate marriage at all except to eliminate incest, rape, and pedophilia.

polygamy (multiple sexual partners) and polyamory (multiple spouses in a marriage setting) are accepted universally throughout the empire. And polyamorous marriages get a tax break.

Love and marriage are viewed as gifts from the Light Celestial. The citizenry of Lux Bellorum are seen as servants of the Light, moving like chess pieces according to Its heavenly will. As such, when someone feels in love with more than one person and wishes to engage in polygamy, they are free to do so - for their love is a part of the will of the Light Celestial, and to deny it would be to deny that will.

Laws concerning Polygamy within Yokotari are entirely nonexistent, at least for husbands taking wives. It has been unofficial court-policy for about three hundred years that polyandry (One woman and multiple men) be illegal and punishable. Generally this is done via social contracts rather than by the police, as its seen as disgraceful to allow ones wife to "dominate" the men, or be unable to control her sexual advances with other men. Therefore one would have a difficult time finding a woman who engages in polyandry within Yokotari, barring of course the courtesans of The Imperial Court.

A man taking multiple wives on the other hand, is common, at least for the upper classes. Generally speaking a peasant and artisans and even lower-end merchants are expected to take only one wife, and indeed usually can only obtain this sole partner. Samurai and other high-ranking military leaders may have two wives, assuming they can court two ladies in waiting. Finally the Imperial Family, where one is allowed to take three wives, however it is common practice that one only take a single wife and several concubines, if they must. There are no limits on the amount of concubines a person of the Imperial Family could have, though the common answer is two.
The Empire of Yokotari is a Alternate Nation of the person who rules over The Frozen Forest, it is purposely mean to not represent my personal views, and is meant to mimic a Japanese Empire-esque state. I have no intention of letting it fade away and i intend to develop it. If you want to interact with it shoot me a telegram either through this nation or The Frozen Forest.

In Erystan, marriage is unrecognized by the state and regarded as a private affair between individuals. Therefore the laws regarding polygamy are the same as the laws regarding unmarried polyamorous relationships, which are legal as long as everyone is consenting. (which also means that all members of relationship are over the age of consent)

Polyamorous relationships are mostly accepted by society, even a conservative minority considers them as morally wrong. Discrimination against polyamorous relationships or individuals are banned by the Federal Anti-Discrimination Law, according to a clause which was added in 1994 by the Federal Chamber, at the request of the Libertarian Party of Erystan.
