Penal Battalions in Las Islas Maur Salao

Postby Las Islas Maur Salao » Mon May 08, 2023 8:09 am

Does your nation use Penal Battalions for military service? Yes.

What crimes can make you eligible for penal service? As the nation has abolished the judiciary system, any crime could get you penal service if your unlucky, but the most common crimes to result in penal service are (in order from most to least common): Political Activism/Being openly against the regime, Robbery, Disloyalty to the regime, Disrespecting the Royal Family, and, in certain circumstances, murder.

How many men in your military currently serve as penal troops? Currently, the number of penal soldiers in The Royal Maur Military is not available to the public, but it is estimated to account for more than 35% of the nation’s military.

Describe the roles penal troops play in your military. Any role, generally standard infantry but it depends on what is needed on the battlefield.

Are penal troops given any training? If so, describe briefly how. They are given basic military training that isn’t specific to their role on the battlefield.

Describe the relationship between Penal Troops and Normal Soldiers. How would they cooperate on the field? They cooperate as any standard battalion would, but Penal Troops have a bad reputation amongst the army.

How well are Penal troops equipped compared to Normal Soldiers? The exact same.

How do conditions of Penal Troops compare to those of Normal Soldiers? Significantly worse, they don’t get shelter, they work longer hours, and are often given the most dangerous jobs in the military to protect more valuable units from death.

Las Islas Maur Salao Grading System.

Postby Las Islas Maur Salao » Mon May 08, 2023 9:02 am

Is the grading scale the same throughout your nation? Yes, it used to be different, but when the nation became independent, different grading scales throughout the country became unnecessarily complicated, so now, all schools use The Maur Standard Grading System.

If so, what is the grading scale in schools throughout your nation?

A++ = 100 = Perfect (Pass)
A+ = 90-99 = Excellent (Pass)
A = 85-89 = Notable (Pass)
B = 65-84 = Above Average (Pass)
C = 60-64 = Average (Pass)
D = 50-59 = Below Average (Pass)
E = 40-49 = Near Pass (Failed)
F = 40- = Complete Failure (Failed)

Does your nation adopt MREs?: Yes. Soldiers on combat missions are often given 3 to 5 day supplies of MREs. Soldiers on base have unlimited access to high-quality mess halls, but may also request up to 5 MREs per day. At least three options for each dietary restriction (e.g., no gluten, vegan, halal, kosher) is available.
What are the contents of an average MRE?
-Entree (chicken strips, spaghetti, etc)
-Side (rice, crackers, macaroni & cheese, etc)
-Small breadsticks
-Cookie or brownie
-Candy packet
-No-flame heating kit
-Seasoning and utensils, as needed for items
-4 water purification tablets, water collection bag
-Lemonade powder or sports drink powder
-Common medications: 2 anti-nausea tablets, 2 anti-diarrhea tablets, 2 ibuprofen tablets, 2 antihistamine tablets, 2 nicotine tablets
-Emergency medications: Antibacterial cream, 2 morphine tablets, 2 anti-anxiety tablets
(Note: Because most medicines and water purification tablets are not used, they can be recycled if still in packaging)
How often do your soldiers recieve rations? They are available on all military bases 24/7, and packaged for soldiers pre-mission. Soldiers always get to choose their meals.

Another School Uniform survey
Country name: Russian Empire
Do schools in this country mandate a uniform or dress code? Yes (Full Uniform)
Similarly, do universities mandate a uniform or dress code? Yes (Dress Code)
What kind of uniform or dress code is considered normal or standard at state schools? Uniforms are differentiated by gender (Male and Female) and Generally follow a sharp old-miltaristic style. School districts usually have an assigned "Emulated Branch" in terms of uniform styles, Either Army, Navy, or Air Force. Colors are school colors, rather than actual military colors. For Example, Ushakov High School in Saransk, Mordvin Governorate has a Naval Uniform Style, with red as the primary and white as the secondary color.

University dress codes, with the exception of Military Academies, are far more civilianized, but quite formal. A student is expected to wear a long sleeve button-up shirt at minimum to all classes. If there is any presentation involved, or a meeting with a professor, they may dress up even more.

Do girls and boys have different uniforms or dress codes in state schools? Yes
Are hats, bags and accessories a part of the uniform or dress code in state schools? Yes. Boys and men remove their uniform hats at a far greater number of customary times than women and girls do.
Are hair, facial hair, hair products, tattoos, makeup or jewellery controlled in state schools? Yes. Normative Religious Jewelry is allowed (Almost always meaning Orthodox Baptismal Crosses). Makeup isnt completely banned, but quite limited. Tattoos must be covered at all times (and really, students only have a very narrow band of time to legally aquire them while still in high school). Hair is to be undyed, and for boys, appropriately short on the sides and back, and in no way tied, and must also maintain a clean-shaven appearance (though Army and Air Force Themed schools may allow Juniors and Seniors in high schools to grow a tidy mustache if they are able to produce one sufficiently full within 10 days of starting). Girls, conversely, need a parent's note for a hair length under 2 inches, and must braid or bun it rather than let it fall on their shoulders or back at longer lenghths.
Is the standard different in private or independent schools, if they exist? Mostly the same, but the parochial schools of minority pacifist religious sects might forgo the military styling entirely.

What calendar does your nation use? Qaruvian Variant of the Gregorian Calendar
What date format(s) does your nation use? year-month-day
What is today's [IC] date for your nation? Today is "January 28th, 2024"(1-28-2024 or 28-1-2024) in the regular Gregorian calendar. In the Qaruan calendar, it's "F.E 123-January-28" (F.E 123-11-28)
What clock(s) does your nation use? The 24-hour clock
Does your nation use a different clock format when speaking VS in writing? No
How are times written in your nation? Give an example It's 18:13 right now (6:13 P.M)
Are there any other important things to know about your nation's methods of date and time notation? The year 1900 is F.E (federal era) 0. The year 1800 is BN (before nation) 100. The reason January is marked as the 11th month is because it is the 11th month in the Qaruvian calendar. The Qaruvian calendar starts in March (as opposed to January in the normal Gregorian calendar)
