Geography Question

Postby Vivaxea » Sat Jun 30, 2018 10:44 pm

Hello everyone of NationStates! I have recently been thinking about how I want to put the factbook. The thing I am stuck on however is to figure out how the regions and climates of my nation may go along with my map.

Image

As you can see, this nation is off of the coast of Africa, Spain and France in the Atlantic. What possible regions such as desert, rain forest etc. could exist here? I am hopeful that some geography expert could answer this.
Thanks for any help!

I'm no climate nor environment expert, but I'd say that everything below the line in the pic I provided would be almost hot & desertous, similar to Moroccan climate but a bit more subtropical. Everything above the line would be similar to the Iberian Peninsula's climate still with that subtropical-ness.

Fonts in Factbooks?

Postby Nouvel Acadie » Wed Jul 04, 2018 12:27 pm

I would like to use just a slightly larger font to segregate sections in a Factbook entry, but the font tag at the bottom of the creation pages seem to assume that one knows what fonts and sizes are available. Can anyone direct me to a list of fonts that could be used? Thanks!

(Redirect to technical perhaps?)

Here's a good link for the fonts. -> http://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/1444848

As for sizes, all I can really say is that [size=100] is the standard (10). And that all you have to do is add or take away 10 to go up and down your standard sizes. (i.e. size 12 is 120 and size 8 is 80, etc.)

Hope that helps. :P

Hi all. I am currently trying to resize my flag on my factbook but its not working for me. The flag ends up throwing my main factbook out of wack and when I try to resize it, it ends up just becoming closer to a thick red band. Any and all help is much apperciated!

If you want your flag to be smaller on your factbook, is this good enough?

Hi Kyrusia, is the flag I currently have acceptable? There was one I previously had that ended up being deleted. Is this one ok?

I see nothing immediately wrong with your flag, but this isn't the place. This is for factbook help; this isn't Moderation or GHR.

Coat Of Arms Tools

Postby East Gondwana » Mon Aug 06, 2018 4:49 am

Hi guys, sorry if there's already a topic for this but I couldn't find one,

Does anyone know of any programs or websites that let you design your own coat of arms, most of the ones I've found seem to focus on medieval European family crests and the sort symbolism associated with that, which doesn't really work for my nation.

I know exactly what I want for my nation's coat of arms, I'm just a little stuck as to how to make that a reality.

What should I add to my culture factbook?

Postby Nioya » Wed Aug 08, 2018 10:56 pm

I really wanna add stuff to my culture factbook. I feel like I wrote it awkwardly. It mentions clothing, religion, atheism, sexuality, gender issues. I feel like that’s just awkward. I don’t know what else to write about. I’d like suggestions to about how to be more comprehensive here.

What kind of norms?

I can do values, but values about what? Be more specific.

And again, what traditions? Though I can do holidays. I’m studying like social rituals as well.

Add some depictions of the dress.
Rites of passage, and what other IRL cultures influenced your country's culture?
Did Nioya remain that traditional well into the 20th century?
Would be great too if you talked about counterculture. Every country has a counterculture.

Last but not least? Add headings.
BALITANG MAKABAYAN: Ayala Diversified celebrates 234th anniversary, remains oldest and largest conglomerate in PH || Punong: (Zóbel de Ayala family) aided state development of PH, helped rebuild Mindanao post-2050 Civil War || Chairman of Ayala Diversified: 'We deliver results', alludes to role of conglomerates in economic growth || 1 USD=12.46PHP ||

Stuff like "never put your chopsticks on an upright position" or something. I'm sure your nation has that sort of taboos and crap.

In my Wiki-style factbook I divided culture into visual arts, architecture, music, literature, theatre and cinema, cuisine, media, and sports.

You're best off taking some inspiration from Wikipedia articles: take the United States for example. Use similar headings to break things down.

Having had a look at your current Culture factbook entry, with the exception of dress codes, it talks very little about culture besides religion and gender codes. I honestly fee like Religion and Gender Roles could be their own separate entries because of how much can be said. As for culture: Think of what Nioyan's like to eat, what music they like to listen to, art and media etc.

Under the category: POLICY, my nation is supposedly in favour if marriage equality, when, in fact, I have never voted in favour of that on any issue. Why is this?

Basic Welfare State? (What do you think?)

Postby The United Kingdoms of Germany » Thu Aug 16, 2018 3:10 pm

Reformed Welfare: Monitary aid to cover basic monthly expenses that can not be covered, by the persons job, most people have private services, must have a job, and welfare will not be taken away, if they make more than their benefits, they will be taken when they reach a self supporting level, but, if they buy something super expensive, that dosen't count as basic, that they can't afford.... So... They're paying' for it...
Medicare: Healthcare Coverage for the poor, must have a job.

Eldcare: Healthcare Coverage for the Elderly, covers healthcare expenses.

Pensions:
Some money for old people, payed into by them, All of the money they payed into it, eventually returns to them, they can choose their coverage, but must pay more, if its higher.

Note: We have no coverage or insurance coverage for the normal, ...

*All of these require Citizenship or legal immigration.
