Does YN Know Climate Change Exist

Postby -Korean Empire- » Sun Jun 03, 2018 10:08 am

So does your nation believe in climate change if so how does your nation stop climate change/slow its progress.

Here in the Korean Empire the Royal Family and The Senate believe in climate change which is why they joined the Paris Accords in 1987 as of right now Korean scientist are looking into using nuclear energy the only problem is that once the Nuclear Power Plant are set there will be major concern that they will be unstable like past incidents in other nations like Japan in Fukashima.
While scientist are still finding ways to use atomic energy safely, The Korean Senate has reduced the use of CO2 by 50%

There's nothing to believe or disbelieve. Climate change is real and happening. We're trying to minimize the use of substances that harm the environment.

Of course climate change is real, it's been happening millions of years before humans even existed. In regards to energy efficiency, the Zhouranese have gone bold and revolutionary by challenging the worldwide anti-science anti-nuclear mindset and paving the shining path to a nuclear future. Being the world's second largest producer of electricity as well as the world's largest producer of electricity through nuclear power, Zhouran's massive nuclear power industry allows the nation to not only be the leading country in civilian nuclear power but also the leading country in cost-efficient highly-affordable electricity, experts agree that nuclear power has done well for Zhouran's robust power grid and that Premier Tan Zhineng's promise to increase Zhouran's nuclear industry and decrease the power usage of coal-based sources allows the nation to continue committing to environmental friendliness and scientific progress. The International Atomic Energy Agency says that the People's Republic of Zhouran is currently the leading nation in civilian nuclear research together with Germany, the organization states that Zhouran leads the world in nuclear power due to the highest amount of electricity produced through nuclear power as well as having the most amount of nuclear reactors, in regards to nuclear fusion research the country is known to spend large amounts of money in the field, contributes to various international nuclear fusion research programs and is also a member of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor.

The Liamese Government doesn't believe in climate change and does nothing to stop this false event. The nation stays clean though due to a social belief that it is right to keep God's creation clean.

Yes, but we really don't care about it in particular. We do have "green" and "eco-friendly" efforts, but they're from a desire to be good stewards of the Earth and to keep our country beautiful, not because of climate change...
- 100% of our power comes from clean, renewable sources
- Excess power is sold to other countries
- Roads are not designed for automobile traffic
- Gas stations are prohibited
- The only types of manufacturing allowed are very light and, with a number of restrictions, light

Yes. We have not signed any international climate treaty or anything like that, but our emphasis on nuclear, geothermal, and hydroelectric power keeps our greenhouse gas emissions down to very low levels.

Releasing greenhouse gasses creates a thicker atmosphere on Earth that allows it to retain more heat. This is a very real threat to Earth's environment. On Mars however, greenhouse gasses are released for the purpose of making our atmosphere able to support life.

Edit: In terms of energy though, Martians are careful not to rely on greenhouse gas. The greenhouse gasses are being released in the short term to strengthen the atmosphere but it wouldn't be sustainable to release greenhouse gasses forever. There are also no fossil fuels on Mars in the first place. Their main energy sources are nuclear and solar.

100% yes. During the 21st century, climate change severely damaged global ecosystems and led to societal collapse in hard-hit territories. By now, we have reversed the effects of climate change via carbon reduction technology.

Yes. It’s real and their evidence to prove. Rapture runs on geothermal energy, a clean sustainable energy as why we don’t want to pollute the ocean with dirty energy to keep the underwater paradise thriving.
Rapture City

  • In the underwater city, two roles have emerged from the City's ongoing civil war: the City Monitors who defend the peace and the Red Caps who fight against unjust systems. The city's infrastructure is crumbling under its own weight and kinship is snuffed by the paranoia of totalitarianism. Yet the people would be in for a surprise as their virtual overlord have died many years ago as the oppression continues under his name...
  • Not an 1-1 exact replica of Bioshock lore and Rapture City. Only the city's atmosphere and setting is maintained.

Yes, we believe that it is real, and, as an Island, it is a pressing threat. If not stopped, we could loose parts of our Island into the sea. We use hybrid/electric cars and public transport, and we get power from solar/wind/nuclear sources instead of coal or oil.

We do not 'believe' in climate change as their is no belief when it comes to scientific consensus, there is only acceptance of facts or denial.

Naturally, of course, we fully accept the scientific consensus regarding man-made climate change.

It is fully real, but we do not really take measures to reduce our extremely high amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Because of this, it is possible that any normal human being, should they be permitted to live in the DGES, would not survive here for more than a month, let alone a year, unless wearing a gas mask at all times and have a magical immunization installed to prevent the scorching heat here from affecting their body.

Also, we have experienced years without rainfall (1997, 2003, 2011), and this had damaged our agricultural sector.

Okstovskaya, as an original ratifier of the Anti-Climate Change Treaty, acknowledges the existence and effects of climate change in the world. It has come to realization, after the verified increase of wildfire rates in central Okstovskaya, a gain of 2 cm in coastal sea levels last year, and the further decrease in water levels in national hydroelectric dams, the lowest since 2003.

In 2013, the Government prohibited the use of chemical, inedible ingredits into production of plastics (such as bags, beer cases, utensils, etc.), and instead encouraged the use of edible food as substitute, in order for marine wildlife casualties to decrease, which is caused primarily by the ingestion of plastic products.
Teslas are growing in popularity after the approval and passage of bills that tightens environmental regulations regarding carbon emissions among land and air vehicles. Oil companies have now installed electricity modules in their gas stations for further compatibility and capability of Okstovskaya to handle non-oil vehicles.
Renewable energy plants have been built by the government as replacement for former fossil fuel facilities. These include large wind and underwater mill farms, solar power fields, etc. Fracking has been banned since 1993.

My nation is not on Earth, but rather an Earth-like world. However, as with Earth, being post-industrial, we do have climate change effects taking hold and CO2 has been identified as the primary source of this.

The Strathan Government does recognise the impact of human civilisation and industry on the environment and, especially, the global climate. At present, the Department of State for the Environment and the Department of State for Energy and Water are working together to construct action plans and Carbon Emission Reduction Targets (CERTs). As part of these targets, several new pieces of legislation have been introduced over the past few years, building on work by the former Peoples' Commissariat for Energy.

Since 1977, production of electricity by coal-fired power-plants has been phased out, with the seventies and eighties seen large scale construction of nuclear power plants. By 2002, 45% of electricity demand was met by nuclear power and the remainder by gas-fired power stations and small contributions from wind power. The present Strathan Government is constructing a new fleet of nuclear power stations, as well as expanding renewable means of generation, such as; wind, hydroelectric, and tidal barrages.

The questions of transportation and heat have also been brought up, presently accounting for 30% and 40% of Strathan average energy use respectively. The Government is currently legislating for an eventual ban on the sale of petrol and diesel powered vehicles and a move to electric vehicles, however, this will require substantial expansion of the current electrical generation capacity. Moves are also being made in parliament to legislate for district heating schemes using biomass and geothermal energy to heat homes and businesses, in an effort to decrease the use of natural gas as a primary means of heating.

Another challenge faced is the size of the Empire which Strathy still controls. With vast overseas and island territories, many of which have predominantly rural communities, overhaul of energy use across the entirety of the Strathan Realms will be difficult. The Strathan Government is, therefore considering making Energy policy a devolved matter for local governments, however, this has attracted criticism from environmental activists who want the central government to take a hard stance on the matter. Likely solutions will include a move to more renewable sources and potential overhaul of the Strathan National Grids system to more decentralised Smart Grids.
