Originally, conscription in Agarntrop lasted 14 months and started age 16 for men only. In 1989, the Agarntrop government voted to increase the age of conscription to 18 and in 1990 put a complete ban on conscripts serving in combat roles. In 1992, the period of conscription was shortened to 12 months and shortened even more to 30 weeks in 2016. Conscription apllied to women aswell in 2005. University can begin once Agarntrop citizens have finished conscription. (Agarntrop conscription is sort of models on Finnish conscription not Isreali or Korean conscription)

Agarntrop conscription, especially in modern times, is mainly focused on educational value and discipline rather than military strengthening.

1. The Federation of Lillorainen does have conscription. Three months of military service are mandatory for all men above 18. However, bypassing military service is relatively easy nowadays, and there are alternate civil services.
2. OOC - It has pros and cons. The country I live in has abolished conscription one year before I turned 18, and it doesn't bother me a lot.

Patagonia has compulsory national service for men aged 18. This can be delayed to 21 if the conscript is a student or apprentice.

National Service usually lasts for a term of 18 months, but is not purely military. Conscientious objectors can opt to do civilian service such as working for the ambulance service, coast guard, police or border force. Medically unfit people are exempt.

1. There currently isn't conscription. The only thing close to conscription we have is basically a city defense program where, if we have them, we distribute small arms to each household and ask kindly that they will, if not shoot at the enemy, at least defend themselves and their building from being taken up by them.

2. I think its something that should be avoided if it can be. Its especially bad if you not only do not want to fight, but dissent to the government to which you are being forced to kill and die. I have less problems with it if being a conscientious objector is enough to get you out of it.

Conscripts are no less capable than volunteers if they are properly trained, led, and equipped. Prussia was once the most feared military machine of Europe, and Prussia had legal conscription basically throughout its history as an independent state, and then carrying on into the age of a unified Germany.

St. Perpetua has a year of national service that all citizens (male or female) must complete once they reach the age of majority at age 20. This may be postponed for up to three years. The service requirement can be fulfilled by training and serving with the Home Guard, the Army, the Navy, or the Alternative Service (for conscientious objectors). Training and time served are paid. Refusal to complete service results in the forfeiture of monthly citizen's dividend payments until service is complete. Only citizens with disabilities and those in reserved occupations are exempt.

Our military is composed of 100% volunter troops. Many citizens want to join the army but are turned down for some reasons.

Conscription is a standard part of Decepticon life. The goal is to ensure that every adult knows how to fight with at least military levels of skill, knows our standard military formations and maneuvers, and is immediately ready to kick the ass of any enemy that dares to try to invade us. There is also special training on how to interact with our official military when acting as a privateer within an active war zone, so that the two classes of fighters don't get in each other's way and so they are all working for the same general goal.

Notably, Decepticons are activated with two Standard Blasters already attached, giving them the immediate ability to be lethal. By putting the cost of the original set of blasters onto the Coders (parents) who wish to activate a new offspring, we eliminate the funding problems that would come from the government trying to arm every single person - while still ensuring that every single person is indeed a full-on war machine right from the start.

Those who decide that they want the Mil-Spec Blasters they are issued while in the military can buy theirs after discharge. Many people do this, making the general population's deadliness level very high. Forcing everyone to actually practice using their blasters under standardized military training protocols makes them even more lethal, especially to outsiders who do not have this experience.

The first conscription stint is at 5 years old. This is the age of majority here. For us, maturation is just a matter of developing enough sapience to be considered an adult, and this happens very quickly when you do not have to wait for a physical brain to grow and configure itself. While someone this young still acts teenager-like, he is at least as mature as an 18-year-old human, and can handle military service without a problem.

Since we can theoretically live forever, we have multiple conscription stints. How frequently someone is called back for another stint depends on how much warfare is expected. Usually, there is a gap of at least 10 years between stints, with a bit longer being the norm.

IRL: I'd expect conscription in a non-warrior culture to produce substandard soldiers, so I'd save it for use during emergencies, or if there is some kind of advance warning, just before the actual emergency started (to give more time to train before getting in the war zone).

In Cosmicium, all able-bodied male and female citizens who reach the age of 18 are conscripted for 1 year in a militia training program, but joining the army is completely voluntary.

Azadistan has conscription based on the idea that people's freedom may be restricted to protect the freedom of others(ala John Stuart Mills) in this case the freedom of Azadistan and foreign countries protected by peacekeepers especially as those who refuse out of cowardice and laziness only have those freedoms because others are willing to risk their lives for it so we consider draft evasion a form of theft similar to leaving without paying for a mechanics services etc. Conscientious objectors are exempted because they would rather not benefit from the war than fight and also because they would be as good soldiers(and even the lazy ones could be controlled with punishment unlike pacifists). Non-Muslims are exempt from wars based on protecting fellow Muslims

Anyone who supports peacetime conscription but had no legitimate aspirations of joining the military themselves is a hypocrite. I am against peacetime conscription in any way shape or form

Citizens of the Sakhalinsk Empire that do not have any disabilities are required to undergo a 6-month period in the military once they turn 16. The person in question is given a salary (I haven't defined how much) and citizens wishing to partake in higher education may attend their classes on Saturdays and Sundays.

All able-bodied citizens between the ages of 18 and 40 are required to complete 18 Months of service with the Savannah Defence Forces or Savannah People's Militia, although during peacetime, conscription is not strictly enforced.

At moment it's optional. The government will send to all 18 years old boys and girl the conscription letter, but he/she can decide if do the year-duration military service showing up to recruiting office or send the message or email to recruiting office the refuse to do the year-duration military serivce. In moment of crisis and/or war the Confederal Goverment with the vote of VolksHaus may make compulsory the conscriptio for all eligible men and women without choice of refusal except for serious and motivated reasons.

1. Conscription is mandatory for all girls and boys at age 17, for a 3-year period. If someone is medically incapable of fighting, they will be assigned support jobs. All concripts are placed in intensive training programs until they pass a test deeming them ready for service. After the 3 year are up, people can decide whether to stay in the military or go home or to college

2. I support conscription in times of war, for men and women. However, I think they should be given a reasonable amount of training before engaging anyone.
