Does YN have land borders with other nations? Yes, the Empire shares some colonies with other countries. The biggest example would be Serghessa, a far rim/frontier colony shared between Archonium, the Empire of Ksarith, Federation of Xemestris, and the Quaraol Confederation.
Is YN part of any open border agreement? Yes, all full members of the Alliance of Sovereign Nations are bound in the Avrosia Convention of 1365 on the Free Interborder Movement. There are however ID and security checks at border checkpoints to mitigate terrorism, human trafficking, and other transnational crime.
Who is responsible for guarding YN's borders? The 24th Internal Protection Division of the Imperial Army and Archonian Police Agency's Border Security Unit are responsible to provide land border protection within Archonian territories, while the Imperial Navy and its Marine Corps is responsible to provide terrestrial and extraterrestrial naval border protection. The Navy and Border Security Unit also guards security checkpoints at spaceports.
How strict is the border control out of 10? (0 = no checks at all, 10 = closed borders) 5. We are very strict concerning the movement of weapons, illicit drugs, national/sacred relics, protected wildlife, and individuals with criminal notices or notorious criminal record.
What security features do borders have? Biometric reader which will analyze and bring up the individual's national personal identity information, medical records, and criminal records, alongside other equipment such as body scanners and baggage scanners.

What travel documents are required/accepted? For regular citizens, government officials, and diplomats, a passport or laissez-passer is usually required (usually embedded in their smart-tool). For some monarchies, whose passports are issued in the name of its respective Sovereigns, they are not required to possess passports or laissez-passer to travel abroad; instead, they are given Letter of Travels by their Minister of Foreign Affairs, requesting host nations to provide its Sovereign the same protection it would offer to officials or diplomats. In Archonium's instance, the Emperor is issued a passport in the name of the People of the Imperial Union of Archonium.

Are there any internal border checkpoints? None, such practices are befit only to nations under despots.
Is a visa or entry permit required? No for full members of the Alliance of Sovereign Nations, visa-on-arrival for non-member observer states, and normal visas for non-member states. For citizens of ASN member states, they are required to pay entry taxes, which cost around 15 chrysarums (or about US$27.50).
How to get a visa, and how much does it cost? Apply to the nearest Archonian embassy, consulate-general/consulate, or legation, follow the procedures (filling out identity forms, giving health and criminal records, scanning biometrics, and finally interview), pay the required amount of around US$125, and voila your visa will be issued in maximum 2 weeks.
Are any nationalities or groups exempt from visa requirements? As I have stated before, citizens of ASN member states.
How long are foreigners allowed to stay at a time? Can this be extended? 30 days, for citizens of ASN member states they can pay an additional fee of 50 chrysarums to extend their stay for another 30 days, or visa extension with 3/4 of the original price. Permanent residents, foreign workers and foreign students of ASN member states have their own Residential Permits, otherwise there are permanent residence visas.
What happens to people who overstay? For the first week of overstaying, they will be notified to either immediately extend their visas/permits or exit the country. If the one-week threshold passed and they did not heed to the notification, they will deported by their own or their respective embassy's expense.

As there are not many land borders, us being an archipelago, there are open borders with the countries we do border and regionally-domestic airports. International airports have strict gating and passport checking, patting down, etc. Travel visas have, at most, 6 months. People who stay past their visa's expiration are fined and then forced out of Hertisy. If they wish to stay, they have to pay double the original fine in total.

It must be noted that the main objective of the Medwedian border's security features is not to keep people out but to keep them in.
Land borders are highly militarized, even in Greenland. Countless fences, concrete walls, security towers barriers (mostly hedgehogs) and minefields, guarded by patrol teams and cars as well as cameras and drones, separate Medwedia from the "No Man's Land" and the border fortifications of the respective other country. The border stripe is lit by high-powered lamps. Military bases are regular along the border. The total length of Medwedia's militarized border exceeds 30.000 kilometers; it is visible from orbit and commonly called "the longest fortress of the world". Usually, it takes several years (for most Westerners) and costs several thousand US dollars officially, with the bribes required significantly higher. Russians and Belarussians profit from a slightly easier application process, especially if they have relatives in Medwedia, but are still not able to travel to the country spontaneously.

If you're a foreigner, or even a weak-looking Decepticon, they will attempt to raid you just out of opportunism. Even if you have a 10-km long capital ship, someone will try to raid you! They'll just be more sneaky if you have a huge craft, and attempt to get aboard by stealth - whereas if you have a one- or two-person ship, they'll try a strongarm attack.

We think this makes perfect sense because they obviously want to stay, so we might as well let them - just not where or how they were planning. Domestic Intelligence will have been watching them from the moment they hit the relevant planet's Zone of Control (the space border), and if a random slaver doesn't capture them soon enough, it'll send its agents to do the deed.
