YN's immigration and visa rules

Postby Estado Novo Portugues » Wed May 16, 2018 1:28 pm

Nation: Ecclesiastical State of Portugal

Does YN have land borders with other nations? Only one, with Spain.
Is YN part of any open border agreement? no
Who is responsible for guarding YN's borders? The Army, usually conscripts are used for this purpose.
How strict is the border control out of 10? (0 = no checks at all, 10 = closed borders) 8 – you can only cross at official checkpoints, and all entries and exits are recorded. Border guards will also check your passport very carefully and ask you a lot of questions, especially if you're not a Portuguese or Spanish citizen.
What security features do borders have? There is a fence all along the border with Spain, forcing everyone to use the official checkpoints. Sensors in the ground will activate an alarm if you hop the fence. The border guards are active duty soldiers so they are armed, and will shoot if they think you're a threat.

Does YN allow foreigners? (if answer is no, ignore all the following questions) Yes, as long as they obey the law and cause no trouble.
What travel documents are required/accepted? Foreigners entering the Ecclesiastical State must have a passport valid for the duration of stay plus 180 days, and a Portuguese Visa valid for the duration of stay. They must also be fingerprinted.
Are there immigration checks on entry, exit or both? both
Are there any internal border checkpoints? Not permanently, but you must show your ID when demanded by police.
Is a visa or entry permit required? yes
How to get a visa, and how much does it cost? You must get an appointment at a Portuguese embassy and pay a non-refundable application fee (varies by nation). There are several supporting documents you need:
  • Invitation letter
  • Bank statement
  • Vaccination record and bill of health from a doctor
  • Written travel plans
  • Tickets, if you are arriving by ship
Bring these with your passport. You will also be given an interview about your background and plans.
Are any nationalities or groups exempt from visa requirements? Spanish citizens do not need a visa if they are staying 30 days or less. Roman Catholic clergy from any nation do not need a visa if they are in the Ecclesiastical State for religious duties. On Christian holidays, Catholic and Orthodox Christians visiting for pilgrimages are exempt, but they are only allowed to stay 30 days.
How long are foreigners allowed to stay at a time? Can this be extended? Visas can be for 30, 60, 90 or 180 days. They cannot be extended except in emergencies, so make sure you choose the right visa when applying.
What happens to people who overstay? The Ecclesiastical State has zero tolerance for anyone breaking the law, including foreigners. Because all entries and exits are recorded electronically, overstays are immediately flagged by the computer. The fine is 1500 escudos, and you will not be allowed to leave until the fine is paid at a bank. Then you will be banned from entering for 10 years.

Nation: The United Federation of Charellia

Does YN have land borders with other nations? Silila to the East and and Ourdria to the North
Is YN part of any open border agreement? The Charellia-Silila Mobility Pact allows citizens to move between the two nations with only minimal restrictions.
Who is responsible for guarding YN's borders? The Federation Border Service
How strict is the border control out of 10? (0 = no checks at all, 10 = closed borders) 5
What security features do borders have? Checkpoints along highways and rail lines, drone patrols, military detachments stationed at some checkpoints for added security.

Does YN allow foreigners? (if answer is no, ignore all the following questions) Yes
What travel documents are required/accepted? Passport (or Sililan National ID), visa (if not exempt), travel itineraries may be requested.
Are there immigration checks on entry, exit or both? Both, however exit checks are merely to record the foreigners have left the country. Charellian citizens are exempt.
Are there any internal border checkpoints? No
Is a visa or entry permit required? Yes
How to get a visa, and how much does it cost? This very much depends on the applicant's nation of origin. A standard visa costs 50 NSD, and requires the submission of proof of identity and certain medical documents. Most people can apply online, however citizens of nations that do not have internet, are hostile to Charellia, or are otherwise deemed high risk, must submit an application in person and have a face-to-face interview. In this case the visa is more expensive. Visas for longer stays usually require a more intensive application process.
Are any nationalities or groups exempt from visa requirements? Charellia has entered into agreements with several nations to waive visa requirements for their citizens. The Ministry of Immigration has the authority to issue waivers of up to 90 days.
How long are foreigners allowed to stay at a time? Can this be extended? A standard visa lasts for ninety days, and may be renewed once. Immigration officials may also issue a 72 hour temporary visa to short-term visitors. This cannot be extended. Visa-free travellers may also apply for a visa in order to extend their travel time. Citizens of Silila are subject to an entirely separate set of rules under the Mobility Pact.
What happens to people who overstay? Those who overstay may be fined and deported. However immigration officials have a fair degree of discretion in these matters and will usually allow a small amount of leeway before they pursue those who overstay.

YN's immigration and visa rules

Postby Ciriet » Thu May 17, 2018 6:55 am

Nation:

Does YN have land borders with other nations? Yes.
Is YN part of any open border agreement? No.
Who is responsible for guarding YN's borders? Land owners and the Border Security Agency of each state, aided by the Cirietian Department of Immigration and Border Security.
How strict is the border control out of 10? (0 = no checks at all, 10 = closed borders) 7 or 8
What security features do borders have? it depends, each state and land owner is free to put whatever they want, but in general, there are fences in walls in some areas.

Does YN allow foreigners? (if answer is no, ignore all the following questions) Yes
What travel documents are required/accepted? Passaport and Visa (if not exempt)
Are there immigration checks on entry, exit or both? Both
Are there any internal border checkpoints? It's up to each state to decide if there will be internal border checkpoints or not, but at the moment, all of them do have.
Is a visa or entry permit required? For some countries
How to get a visa, and how much does it cost? It can be obtained in a consulate or embassy, it costs 80 C$ (Citrietian dollars)
Are any nationalities or groups exempt from visa requirements? Americans, Dutch, French and Italians are the only ones exempt
How long are foreigners allowed to stay at a time? Can this be extended? A normal visa lasts 30 days but can be expanded up to 60 (or possibly 90 in some cases, but it's not normal).
What happens to people who overstay? If you overstay your visa you will most likely be deported, if you overstay your visa under 30 days, you won't be barred of entering any Cirietian state, overstaying more than 30 days will already bar you from entering almost all states for at least one year and overstaying the visa for more than 270 days will lead to you being prevented from entering the country for 10 years, some states have some differences on the number of days you need to overstay to be bared, but the rule of overstaying over 270 days is consistent in all states.

Nation: The Federation of Democratic Exodian Territories

Does YN have land borders with other nations? No, we’re an island archipelago.
Is YN part of any open border agreement? We have an open border agreement with the Second Kekistani Republic, as well as nations closely affiliated with them. While technically still not an open-border agreement, most of the more extensive security restrictions are not needed for nations such as Gagium, Purnelaw, Atkemri, and most member nations of the Angel’s Alliance.
Who is responsible for guarding YN's borders? National and Territorial Defense sections of the military, if needed. Exodian Army and Navy military police guard the coastlines and potential illegal entry points with the assistance of civilian militias and district Trooper/Ranger police officers.
How strict is the border control out of 10? (0 = no checks at all, 10 = closed borders) 7-8
What security features do borders have? Guard towers and cameras, alongside regular guard patrols and flybys from drones and aircraft. Some coastline areas have pillboxes and anti-aircraft emplacements, and heavily-populated areas such as New Collective City, Brightwater, and Dryvet Metro have some coastal artillery.

Does YN allow foreigners? (if answer is no, ignore all the following questions) Yes.
What travel documents are required/accepted? A valid passport is required, if not a valid Exodian ID or a valid ID from affiliated nations.
Are there immigration checks on entry, exit or both? Entry, but exit are only on special cases.
Are there any internal border checkpoints? At the borders of New Collective City.
Is a visa or entry permit required? Yes, unless applying for refugee/asylum status.
How to get a visa, and how much does it cost? As well as being available in Exodian embassies and consulates, visas are normally issued with a cheap $5.00 Approv fee after border security checks the first time any non-refugee foreigner enters Exodia. However, visas can be denied to anyone with a felony, a violent crime, or a fraud crime on their criminal record, comes from a nation high in gang violence organized crime, or terrorism without a valid reason, or has an expired passport, and will be denied to anyone infected with a sexually transmitted disease or a communicable disease, anyone considered to not have a good moral character or a potential threat to national security (includes citizens from nations in the Jupiter Pact and nations hostile to Exodia/our allies).
Are any nationalities or groups exempt from visa requirements? Kekistanis and those from the Second Kekistani Republic and closely affiliated nations. Citizens from member nations of the Angel’s Alliance do not require a visa, either.
How long are foreigners allowed to stay at a time? Can this be extended? 30-31 days. It can be officially extended to 45 days in case of a family emergency or legal issues.
What happens to people who overstay? Unless they choose to become permanent residents on a path to citizenship, they have to be deported.
An early-PMT island-archipelago nation in the Gulf of Mexico with right-libertarian and neoconservative tendencies. Born on memes and guns by the British and Spanish but built for something deeper.

Nation: The Freehold of Ephyra / Senate and People of Ephyra / Ephyrio Kemion Āsrar

Does YN have land borders with other nations?
Yes. The Freehold possesses borders with the Kingdom of Taralus to the north and the Islamic Monarchy of Persia to the east, whilst also sharing a small border with the Republic of Liberatin to the south in the African continent as well as a long border with the United Kingdom of Weriana along the Arabian peninsula. The Freehold also holds a massive sea border, and extensive borders into disunited and sub-national lands that lack any form of national cohesion. These borders are focused along three continents, a minor protrusion into Europe, a massive push into Asia, and a subsequent subjugation of most of north-east Africa.

Is YN part of any open border agreement?
It is not. The alliance, the Eurasian Defence Pact, of which the Freehold is a member, does not operate any such policy and were it to introduce such a policy it would be opposed by the Freehold. The concept of open borders is utterly antithetical to the concept of nationhood, as it removes the defining feature of what makes a nation. A boundary encircling a civilisation, where everyone accepted inside is part of the in-group, and everyone not accepted or located outside is part of the out-group. Borders should be well maintained in the eyes of the Freehold and its government, or the nation will cease to exist.

Who is responsible for guarding YN's borders?
Up to three areas of government co-operate on this. Both land and sea borders are patrolled by the Freehold Border Patrol Taskforce, a paramilitary unit controlled effectively by the Sphere of the Interior. Along borders that operate outside of the heartland geographic region of Selia and it's nine provinces, the FBPT falls largely under the local jurisdiction of the branch of the Sphere of Provincial Affairs, as these units are now operating outside of the heartland and typically comprise of locals rather than Selian natives, the culturally and politically dominant people (though making up just 18% of the population due to conquest).

Similarly, the Sphere of Justice has some oversight, as the crossing into the Freehold without utilising proper and accepted channels is a criminal offence, and the FBPT has the authority to arrest those that violate this law. Those who violate it in an aggressive manner, such as trying to sabotage border defences, smuggle weapons, or otherwise act in a perceived aggressive manner, are liable to be shot by the taskforce, in which case the Sphere of Justice takes over in justifying the death.

How strict is the border control out of 10? (0 = no checks at all, 10 = closed borders)
8. The Freehold is very restrictive on who comes into the nation, and prohibits travel from areas deemed culturally inappropriate. This is rendered all the more complex and difficult to enforce by the sheer vastness of the border, and the highly diverse cultural divisions within the Freehold's territories. For example, whilst a vast number of black Africans reside in under-developed African territories of the Freehold, no citizen of an African nation is permitted to enter the Freehold. This is to prevent a mass influx of perhaps more capable yet still culturally unacceptable peoples from arriving in the heartland.

However the sheer difficulty of maintaining such coherent enforcement is overwhelming. The reliability of locals to properly enforce the borders, especially if those entering are of greater cultural affinity to the guards than the guards are to Selia itself, is shaky at best. Financial incentives of pay aim to reduce this, but it is thought that in some areas, bribery and corruption are rife should entrants lack sufficient papers. Though there is not a vast number of people trying to enter the Freehold (most are deterred by its highly Darwinistic society, lack of interest in the poor, and the presence of slavery, regular internal strife, and general reputation), the Freehold does not enjoy the idea of anyone being able to enter the nation.

What security features do borders have?
Fences, barbed wire, checkpoints, regular border patrols, armed security guards, watchtowers, and other such features. Through sea, the Freehold Border Patrol Taskforce maintains a small naval branch patrolling the coastline, and docks and ports used for arriving visitors or immigrants also possess such checks, though as most people would be attempting to land at the heartland, it is here where security is greater.

Does YN allow foreigners? (if answer is no, ignore all the following questions)
Yes, though from certain areas. Asiatic peoples are highly screened, European peoples are well screened also but less likely to be rejected, whilst African peoples are outright banned on the grounds that they are too primitive and their 'cultures' are too alien.

What travel documents are required/accepted?
A valid passport, visa, and proof of citizenship are required. If attempting immigration, medical and any genealogy records are also necessary.

Are there immigration checks on entry, exit or both?
Both.

Are there any internal border checkpoints?
Yes. The border of the geographic region of Selia, heartland of the Selian race, maintains much more advanced border checkpoints staffed by reliable people. It is they who typically handle immigration from better developed nations, those trying to migrate for an actual want to be part of the nation from Europe or the European Americas, rather than those attempting to sneak into the African or Asian provinces due to poverty or other reasons. These checkpoints also guard against infiltration into Selia from those people if they make it into the provinces. Most attempts are caught, and it is at this stage that most illegals are deported.

Is a visa or entry permit required?
Yes.

How to get a visa, and how much does it cost?
One must apply for a visa, typically at an embassy or consulate, and hand in the application with relevant documents. After processing, a rejection or an acceptance will take place. The process can take up to a few months in some cases. Visas usually cost around 200 Honours.

Are any nationalities or groups exempt from visa requirements?
No.

How long are foreigners allowed to stay at a time? Can this be extended?
30, 60, 90, or 120 days at a time. Extension is not permitted but applications can be made in case of emergencies.

What happens to people who overstay?
Fines and deportation. However it's not unheard of for stateless peoples, such as illegal refugees, to be moved through secret channels and wind up on a legal slave market.
