Slavery Tier System

Asucki is a Tier 1 Society. Slavery was historically a gray area in most jurisdictions of the Isles, and Asucki's isolated geography prevented any slave trades from gaining traction. Upon Unification in 1933, slavery was implicitly banned in the nation's constitution and explicitly banned in early legislation. Prior to the early 1980s, Asucki would've been classified as a Tier 2 Society as it pursued a staunchly isolationist foreign policy and thus did nothing to prevent slavery outside its borders.

The Greater Ordenstaat of Ordena is a Tier 6 Society. While Slavery has long been officially declared illegal the current Ordenite government do operate large scale labor camps and other detention facilities which are under de-facto slave conditions.

Tier 1
Slavery has been banned due to the dignity of human life and as a result we enforce this both inside and outside our borders, using tactics like lobbying, corruption, or even abductions/assassinations.

[Nu Elysium]

Nu Elysium is a Tier 2 Society. It does not interfere with other nations, but it does formally condemn slavery.

[Rentoln]

The People's Republic of Rentoln is a Tier 1 society. Chattel slavery is unheard of in its history since centuries and indentured servitude had been abolished in all territories currently part of the People's Republic in the 1700s. Slavery, human trafficking, and labour exploitation is outlawed and punished with severe penalties by Rentolnian law. The People's Procuratorate and the People's Militia participate in international cooperation for the suppression of slavery. Rentoln claims universal jurisdiction over the crime of slavery, however it doesn't prosecute offenders not in the territory or control of the People's Republic where there is no jurisdictional link to it. The Inter-Commissiom on Foreign Affairs is active in supporting international instruments against slavery.

[Aetherlina]

Aetherlina fits in the "Tier 2 Society" catagory as it is strictly illegal in Aetherlina, but Aetherlina doesn't attempt to abolish it from other nations as Aetherlina prefers to focus on itself because Aetherlina is meant as an escape from the world of other nations.

[Kaiserholt]

The Most Serene Republic of Kaiserholt considers itself to be a Tier 1 society, seeing as we proactively seek to abolish slavery outside of our borders. Though we must be honest, and offer details.

Tier 1 Society: The Most Serene Republic has spent centuries abolishing slavery in all foreign nations with which we have any relations with. We do this by purchasing the foreign nation’s existing enslaved populations, forcing them to pass laws to eliminate any domestic slavery within their borders, and offering them competitive prices for any “prisoners of war” that they may obtain in perpetuity…as long as those prisoners fit our standards.

Tier 7 Society: Both chattel slavery and serfdom is legal within the Most Serene Republic. Slaves are a small percentage of the population because it is very easy to buy oneself into serfdom after a very short duration of time.

Tier 8 Society: A majority of the Most Serene Republic’s citizenry are slavers, and their position in society is often judged based upon just how many slaves they can financially maintain.

Tier 9 Society: While we admonish the implication of “forced breeding,” one of the ways a slave buys his or her serfdom is in how many new assets they can provide to their owners.

We are curious to see how our society is categorized by other nations, and why. (OoC: but obviously not on this thread )

[The Terren Dominion]

We are a Tier 7 Society. There are slaves and surfs within Terren, although there is a verity of laws in place which protect them from flagrant abuses. Families of surfs may not be separated. Surfs, known as Prastagott, can be lifted out of serfdom and even gain titles of nobility through exceptional service and skill. Slaves are comprised only of the worst criminals, and becoming a slave is an optional alternative to being executed for a heinous crime. Slaves and Surfs do not make up a sizeable percentage of the Imperial economy or Imperial culture, and both institutions are on the decline.

P.R. Iaepatius has always been and will always be a Tier 1 society. Iaepatusians view slavery as an abhorrent evil and the highest expression of the vile tyranny of antirevolutionary ideals. Iaepatusians have nothing but contempt towards those who profit off of the exploitation of the innocent and vulnerable.

The Revolution shall ensure those who profit from slavery will be punished to the fullest extent.

[Lanansia]

Lanansia is very much anti-slavery. But, Lanansia does not actively fight the slave trade overseas as of now, given recent events threatening national security. Therefore as of now, the Kingdom of Lanansia is a Tier 2 Society.

[Bilancorn]

Bilancorn is a Tier 1 society: we strive to abolish slavery worldwide and we do not trade with nations involved in slavery. We also free slaves if some ship filled with slaves come nearby our waters.

"We do employ prison labour for prisoners convicted of class A crimes, but this does not make us a Tier 5 Society, since the last death in labour camps occurred more than 50 years ago, and prisoners still have access to healthcare, education and other fundamental rights, despite they work 10 hours every day" Chairman Lord Khaos stated.
