What's the meaning behind YN's flag

[Vysnia]

The gold stripes stand for the fertile Vysnian fields, the white for the purity of the land, and the palm tree being a national symbol.

However, many ethnic Vysnians do not like this flag, seeing as it does not adequately represent her people and dates back to British colonial rule, so some have taken to designing their own.
In an unofficial flag vote, this is the most popular flag, being based off of traditional Vysnian bark cloth.



The red stands for the blood shed in the war for independence and the gold for the prosperity brought forth.

[Bears Armed]

The green background stands for the woods in which our ancestors "awakened" to sapience and within which many of urrs still live: It's split between two different shades to represent the nation's two main divisions, the 'Mainland' (in which deciduous 'broadleaf' trees predominate, hence the brighter green) and the 'Northlands' (in which evergreen coniferous trees are more important; hence the darker green).
The paw-print represents the fact that this is Ursine territory, which we stand ready & willing to defend. (Also, it's a 'rebus' [i.e. visual pun] on the nation's name...) It is in gold for the Sun that nurtures life, the clean light that chases away Chaotic beings, and for honey.

The acorns and pine-cones stand for prosperity, and hence also for the peace that is a prerequisite for this. They can additionally be interpreted as representing the four directions in which our ancestors migrated after the 'Great Awakening', the four main races of Ursines (although people from different parts of the country might disagree with each other about just which 'peoples' should actually be included in that set, and so at least one of these emblems is commonly taken -- in this context -- as standing for "everybody else"...), or the four 'Great Clans' that were co-founders of the Confederation.

[Subhurbia]

The star on the Suhurbian flag represents the elements of earth, water, air, fire, and spirit, reflecting the 5 primary cultures. The tricolors in the background are all the primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) which has had multiple different interpretations. The most popular interpretation is that it represents the three orientations of Societies that all exist. The red representing the masculine cultures in the nation, the blue representing the feminine cultures in the nation, and the yellow representing the neutral societies in the nation. The reason red is on the top is because it symbolizes the ascending nature of the masculine principle. Hence, the alchemical symbols for fire and air (the masculine elements) are upward pointed triangles. Similarly, the blue is on the bottom symbolizes the descending nature of the feminine principle. The alchemical symbols for earth and water (the feminine elements) are downward pointed triangles. The branches beneath the star represents the federation, that these distinct different societies are all part of one federation.

Blue - The blue as used in the field of the flag is considered the traditional colour of Aikoland and has symbolised the monarchy and later the nation since at least the 14th century.

Fleur-de-lis - The three fleurs-de-lis are officially intended to symbolise the Île-d'Aiko, Île-de-Saun, and Île-de-Boullién, the three states of Aikoland. However, they are also considered to symbolise the Catholic heritage of our nation and people. (A popular misconception is that they also symbolise the monarchy, as our nation's coat of arms also depicts three fleurs-de-lis on it, but the ones depicted on the coat of arms are in a different arrangement than on the flag, having two smaller ones on top and a larger one at the bottom rather than one large one at the top and two smaller ones on the bottom)

The civil flag is actually a rendition of the official state flag without the styling of the current dynasty. The design dates back to the 1600's. The red was the original banner of the Makwadjil peoples, the Green Triangle represents a future of wealth and prosperity, the Crescent moon and 4 stars represent Islam uniting the Makwadjil peoples from each of the original 4 princedoms.

In the center are the seven chakras, layered together. The outermost layer is the crown chakra, the innermost layer is the root chakra. The right side of the flag symbolizes the masculine principle. The left side of the flag symbolizes the feminine principle.

The flag of the Democratic Federal Republic of Russia flag is the traditional Russian Tricolor, used since the late 19th Century. One substantial change is the emphasis on the azure band in the middle, as opposed to a deeper blue. This azure-striped version was a rallying banner behind the Liberal reformers of the early 20th Century. In the 1940s, during the fascist Rodzaevsky Regime, the tricolor became a symbol of defiance.

The version being used in the game is the state flag, defaced with the government seal. The civil flag is merely a tricolor without the seal.

The flag is named Big Red, but is more commonly called Old Baldy, after the bird in the top left corner.
