History

Pre-Confederation History
The Confederation traces it's roots back to the Native Tribes of Ochea. The Natives had formed Confederations of Tribes as a form of larger government long before the arrival of settlers and colonists from Kingdoms such as Kanadorika and Dominatus. While skirmishes and warfare between tribes was not uncommon, the forging of larger Confederated alliances would ensure that disputes between Tribes would be resolved without resorting to violence. Despite the presence of such larger governments, no stronger or more centralized institutions would emerge as Tribes would either break off of a Confederation to join another or they would occasionally splinter and form new alliances. But these loose Confederations would take on new meaning and become more assertive after the first foreigners began to arrive in the form of lost settlers from Dominatus in 1661. The settlers who had lost contact with their homeland, and happened upon land far away from where they had originally planned soon made contact with the natives. A Confederation of tribes was formed to debate how to approach the Chinese immigrants. Eventually, diplomacy was settled upon, and while a language barrier was present. The meeting was a historical one.

The settlers had learned eventually that they had landed upon a island. And the settlers own explores had learned that their was land on a continent beyond that. However, the settlers who consisted of around 1,000 men and women whom had traveled on a fleet of ships had decided to settle upon the island which they called 'Xanyu'. With contact cut off from their homeland, the settlers formed their own Kingdom on the island helped along through cooperation with the natives. But as the years passed and the population of the new Kingdom grew. They pushed further and further onto the island, eventually starting conflicts with the natives over the land. It would not be for nearly 60 years, that again the balance of power in the region would be changed once more.

In 1724 expeditions from the Empire of Kanadorika arrived, carrying new immigrants to settle new lands. These new immigrants settled the Continent beyond the Island Kingdom of Xanyu. Of course, the expanding Kanadorikan Empire did not take long before exerting control over the fledgling island Kingdom and beyond. Establishing the colony of Estain on the main continent. More settlers would arrive over the next five decades to the 'New World' but tensions rose as well. New ideas of governance spread across the Kanadorikan colonists and many began to desire self rule. The Xanyu, now occupied by Kanadorikan soldiers plotted to restore their Kingdom and Emperor. And the Native Ochean Tribes battled constantly to maintain control of their lands. The Estainian Patriots realized that their was little chance of success in opposing the Empire alone. So, on November 12, 1769 in a small farm house in a Estainian town, a meeting between three figures took place. The Estainian Patriot Eric Auber, Zhen Hao a descendant of the Xanyu Royals and Ochean Chief Wohali. It was on that day that the foundation of what was supposed to be a temporary alliance and a means to an end, would begin what would one day become the Confederation. As what would be known as the 'Six Years War' begun.

The Founding of the Confederation
On November 25, 1775 after the signing of the Treaty of Nandao in Xanyu which ended the Six Years War which had secured sovereignty for the new nations of Xanyu, Estain and the Ochean Tribes, a new debate on the future of the region began. The delegates from the various nations agreed that cooperation would be essential in maintaining their sovereignty in an Age of Empires and that none of the three nations were powerful enough to prevent threats in the future. Eric Auber, inspired by what he has seen from the Confederations of various native tribes made a proposal. That the three nations of would enter into a pact of Confederation. That each would retain sovereignty unto themselves but act together on an international stage. This was seen as the best compromise and the best way to ensure that they would not fall under the sphere of influence of a foreign power. But, there were matters which needed to be settled. The Ocheans demanded that the Estainians cease their movements eastward if they were to agree to the terms. And after some deliberating a settlement was reached. The Xanyu would insist on the Capital being located within Xanyu, but the Estainians rejected that and eventually they agreed on a new district being set up that would be outside of the the political zones of all three. That the Capital City of the Confederation would be governed by the shared government itself in it's own district, that city became known as Agreos. With all matters eventually settled the parties drafted up what became known as the 'Declaration of Confederation' which became both the founding and governing document of the Confederation of Sovereign States.
