Oh dear, we’ve had quite a few. Hmm...let me think....probably the day of the Attack of the Discuentos. Discuentos is a Galician portmanteu of the word’s for careless and tyrant, which became the description for the exiled aristocrats and moguls of the Royal Republic of Granluras (and since they’re all ded now it’s used for regimes like the DPRK, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Nazi Germany, etc.). Just a few years after Granluras was founded the Discuentos mustered private armies and mercenaries and sent them into Granluras so they could take control again. So many Granlurasians fought that one mercenary said:

“The men who are paying us have no idea who exiled them. We moved through the coastal city of à Coruña, miraculously, a few hours ago. I say miraculously becuase of the conditions we faced. The moment we saw the town from the water the [Granlurasians] saw us and ran to the armory of à Coruña. Once we landed we marched off in groups of ten. The first two groups were mowed down by an already armed and gathered militia at the end of the docks. There were 180 of us, and when we were able to even get into the village there were 130 of us. Finally we were able to overpower this militia, but this town was too armed, cunning, and populous. We were well aware of the principal “women and children first”, so we ignored the running masses of women and children, this was another mistake. Once they got behind us we heard a cacophony of clicking, looked back and looked down the narrow of dozens of muskets that we didn’t notice the women carrying. After the volley there were only 110 of us. We ran into an alley and came across some children. Even though we had just learned moments earlier not to trust the innocent we didn’t see any arms on the children. We felt a little safe, especially because these kids mistakes us as the militia. We, of course, said we were, but they must’ve heard our accents soon as my commander smelled the gas. With a quick strike to a lantern the children created an inferno. Within ten minutes of stepping into Granlurasian soil there was only 97 of us left from 180, and we’d only killed 28. Our commander gave up, said we’d invade from another point, and we lost six more men running back. The Granlurasians are not one to mess with.

While we did win, we lost a lot of our citizenry, with nearly half of the people of the capital dying due to hysteria and combat in an engagement that was only three hours long. We commemorate the fallen and our victory for a week every year.
