Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby The Scarlet Eagle » Wed May 16, 2018 2:11 am

Since we are a Socialist Monarchy, we don't have many homeless people.
For the few that exist, we have special "hotels" for them paid by the welfare funds for them to saty until they can get back on their feet.
We also have programs to give them work, even the most menial tasks.
Sometimes, we even make them work simple duties, and give a paid vacation to the original workers of these tasks.

We have virtually no homeless people living in our nation. Our Constitution guarantees housing as a right of all citizens.

More than 75% of our population lives in a subsidized housing unit. Many of these are refurbished shipping container apartments.

In my nation, the income for the poor has risen and will continue to as I do not believe in rich having a ton of money but having a fair and equal amount as it's lower class citizens.

Homelessness is not really much of an issue thanks to our culture.

Basically Purpelian culture places a high emphasis on family values. And perhaps the most important of those is that families should stick together, no matter what, those that fail to do so being collectively seen as bad people. And in Purpelia that can lead to really bad things including but not limited to being refused service or even loosing your job. So it is very rare for a person to be homeless and not be taken in by family members even if that leads to atrocious living conditions.
After all, even if you have 5 children and live in a 1 room apartment your self you'll still happily take in your 5 brothers and their 5 children (each) over loosing your home and job and the respect of all humans around you permanently.

So really if you are homeless chances are you either have a very bad family or no family at all, which are culturally and socially speaking far greater problems for you than not having a home.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Give them homes, of course.

There are some people, however, who choose to refuse the free housing and prefer to live without permenant settlement, usually for cultural reasons. However, these people usually spend their time in more rural areas, not cities, so it’s really nobody’s problem and if they want to be that way they can.

Homelessness is basically nonexistent. If are ever without a home, the individual can apply for Lukquan Homelessness Housing and you will be given, at minimum, a bed in a government-funded dorm. Basic food and basic necessities are provided at no cost to the resident. The employees will assist every resident in education and job seeking. You may stay in the dorms as long as you wish, provided that you are actively looking for work after a small free period of two weeks. After finding full-time employment, the former homeless individual is permitted to remain in the dorm for up to 9 months free of charge from the start date of employment. After that point, they must either pay a fee to continue to rent the bed and use the facilities (food must be purchased themselves) or vacate the space entirely and apply for government-funded affordable housing elsewhere.

Travellers in Azadistan(we don't have people lacking shelter

Postby Azadistan-land of the free » Sat May 19, 2018 4:57 am

Bedouin tribes sometimes live in caravans due to their traditions.
There is a great deal of understanding between them and the government and they often have tribal regiments in the Millitary.other than that they are generally self employed as tour guides, door to sales people and
poets.

They generally live very much according to their traditions with the exceptions of having modern caravans, high literacy rates and modern warfare. Some women's rights have also improved.
Due to their honoured place in society they are actually less likely to steal than other groups.

Roma people also frequently live in Azadistan often working as skilled craftspeople. Like Beduin they are unlikely to steal due to a fair society and most of the are Muslim. They came to Azadistan fleeing the Nazis.
Many have also since become Alims. They fought on the side of the allies in WW2 and so have their own regiments.

Both traveller groups are considered well integrated into society.

People must immediately report to the UDoS Ministry of Housing if they become homeless, they are then taken to the UDoS Ministry of Truth and shot, their name wiped from existence, people who knew them either memory wiped or killed, essentially purging them from existence.

So long story short:

What homeless people?

Every day, a routine inspection of Ghettos are conducted by the Department of National Education. Where they are physically assessed, and either employed by the state to perform basic jobs for the collective or given the option to be re-educated. If one is re-educated, they will be given the basic knowledge to start life anew.

This is a one-time procedure, as if they end up homeless despite their new degrees then they will be forced to work hard labour for the state. Essentially, you are required to work once you are above the legal age to begin doing so.

Purgatio is an absolutist hereditary monarchy run as a one-party fascist dictatorship, which seized power in a sudden and abrupt coup d'état of 1987-1988, on an authoritarian eugenic and socially Darwinistic political philosophy and ideology, now ruled and dominated with a brutal iron fist under the watchful reign of Le Grand Roi Chalon-Arlay de la Fayette and La Grande Reine Geneviève de la Fayette (née Aumont) (i.e., the 'Founding Couple' or Le Couple Fondateur).

They can apply to stay in state housing, funded entirely by the welfare system. Unfortunately, said housing is infamous for focusing on quantity over quality, with vast expanses of identical condominiums surrounding the major cities, left as absolute ghettos. Generally, a safer bet is to get into a charity shelter. This issue was covered famously in the documentary I Live in the Wall.

The DRD has a strong welfare program that helps people get back up on their feet. Homelessness is a huge issue within the urban cites and nonexistent in the jungle villages and towns.

There is no homelessness in Brystolville. Everyone is required by law to be in a home, and the State provides public housing for anyone who cannot afford their own flat.

If a person is issued a no-rent flat by the State and later found not to be living in it, or is homeless and refuses public housing, they can be charged with a crime and jailed.

Homeless people in Aldina are offered (voluntary) residence in state public housing. Thus, anyone who remains homeless usually does so willfully.

You need to expand your OP, otherwise this thread is going to be locked. How does your nation treat the homeless? What sort of factors contribute to homelessness? Why is (or isn't) addressing the issue a good/bad idea? All of these are recommendations on how to actually make a substantial OP, and no, they are not exhaustive.

Officially, there are no homeless. the government endeavours to ensure everyone is housed and in work they are capable of doing. Even if they have no qualifications, they can be assigned to at least unskilled labour.

Homelessness is almost non-existent here. Those who want homes but can't pay for them are given council housing, which is a bit spartan but safe and clean, sometimes even furnished. Those who don't want homes and pose no danger or nuisance to others are allowed to go their way. Those who do pose a danger or nuisance are placed in institutions. Nuisance covers a wide range of undesirable behaviors including begging, sleeping in doorways or on city pavement, or setting up one's tent near a residential or commercial area. Those determined to have a mental disorder are hospitalized and given treatment. Those who simply wish to skate through life on other people's charity doing the minimum to take care of themselves are picked up, given a free room and must attend daily hour-long classes on getting a job, a place, and not being a burden on your fellow Dagnian.
