Popular Dishes in your Nation

Postby Alexandregia » Fri Apr 20, 2018 2:58 am

In Alexandregia, we are often known for our Alexandrian salad, pasto, calamares, sustenos and huevas. Our desserts include creme fria, churros and the sought caramel sauce.

What are some popular dishes in YN? For example, China has dimsums, Japan has sushis, and Italy has pizza and lasagna.

Fish and squid are considered integral parts of the Xmaranese diet. Rice, bread, and various fruits and vegetables are also common (food is grown in specialized greenhouses designed for growing in polar climates). Pierogis are extremely popular in Xmara. Coastal cuisine is typically a bit spicy, with curry being a common ingredient there.

Van Hool cuisine borrows heavily from Indonesian, Belgian, and Dutch cuisine, with dishes like satay (from Indonesia, brought over by Indonesian immigrants), moules-frites/mosselen-friet (from Belgium, brought over by Wallonian immigrants) hachee (from South Holland, brought over by South Hollander immigrants, who make up a majority of the nation's Dutch population), , nasi goreng (also from Indonesia) being popular imports. Fish and chips were also brought over from the United Kingdom, and have become popular in coastal areas, and are made with Pacific barramundi and snapper rather than the cod and haddock typically found in Britain's chippies. It's also common for mayonaisse to be served with fish and chips, as in other dishes with chips/fries, a practice also brought over from the Benelux countries.

When it comes to desserts, stroopwaffel and apple pies were brought over by Dutch immigrants, and are popular, especially during the winter months.

In EldrichVoid1-3, light is the populace's favorite food. Contrary to NS, EldrichVoid is an inorganic species that doesn't need food to survive. Sadly, I can't simulate that here. So, as a response, I choose light as Eldrichen "eat" it. More absorbing it but close enough.
I fed my beliefs some performance enchantments. Now this is here.

Meat, green and root vegetables and grains are the staple items in dinners in Great Nortend. Fish is de rigeur on Fridays, Lent, and on other fast days. The most common meats are pork, chicken, mutton, beef, hogget and lamb, along with cheap game such as goat, rabbit, lobsters and oysters. Rarer meats include horse, badger, veal, venison and game birds such as quails, pheasants and partridges. Green and root vegetables form the bulk of a typical person's dinner, and include such common foods as carrots, potatoes, peas, lettuce, sorrel, cabbage, turnips, beans and spinach. Common grain products are mainly wheaten, such as breads and pastries, however oats, barley, rye and ruttock are all used in various parts of the country.

Whilst foods differ between class, region and location, common dishes include various savoury pies and puddings, such as steak and leek pie, lamb and liver pudding, fish pie and horsemeat pudding. Roasts of meat are also highly popular, especially on Sundays and feast days, and commonly served with peas, gravy and brown pudding. Soups and stews of meat and vegetables are also popular, with many common rural dishes including jugged hare, Larkshire stew, coagh soup and jugged cock.

Well, as a nation founded by indigenous Mesoamerican peoples, who were known for their usage of the cocoa bean, Aztlan produces some of the highest-quality chocolate products in the world.

Some of our most widely recognized dishes are corn-based, although we have a widely diverse array of meals. Most of them are spicy. We're also known for our street food.

Despite our highly devalued currency, meals are very low in cost. A meal can cost only 120 Japanese American Yen. Converted into U$D, that is about 31¢. Meals, dominated by Asian and American cuisine, and in some regions, Mexican cuisine, are very diverse. The cheapest meals are from American cuisine fast-food restaurants.

Food

Postby Swadony » Fri May 25, 2018 11:37 am

There are a lot of diversity in food in my country, Swadony. It ranges from sweet to spicy, sweet to sour but a lot of our dishes compose of seafood and potato. For example, we eat potato crab salad, potato and corn soup, sweet and sour shrimp and rice, etc. our national dish is Patilla, which is spicy beef stew and rice. (Beef, carrots, celery, peas, rice, tomatoes, and Chiles) :3

Wonton noodle soup, char siu (a type of barbecued pork), dim sum (not a dish, per say, but really an entire style of cooking common in southern China, including Guangzhou), lo mein, siu mei (which includes a variety of roasted meat dishes, including the aforementioned char siu, as well as roast pork, roast duck, and roasted goose). Many Cantonese dishes have crossed the Pacific and have become popular staples in American, Canadian, and Australian Chinese cuisine, as a good number of Chinese emigrants originate from southern China, including the city of Guangzhou.

Coq au vin ("Chicken with wine") is considered the "national dish," generally chicken cooked under red wine, lard, butter, pearl onions, garlic, mushrooms and spices. It is usually served over rice or potatoes.

Beef bourguignon, a similar dish, is also popular, along with pot-au-feu (meat stew), cassoulet (sausage and beans casserole), aligot (mashed potatoes and cheese), bouillabaisse (fish / seafoood stew) and ratatouille (vegetable stew).

Pain perdu, or "French toast" is popular for breakfast or late evening meals.
