Beneath the Imperial Palace in the Ktathrian capital city, Skulrydge, lies a network of caverns and vaults. This underground repository contains all of the Empire's official records – miles of documents, photographs and other such items including the original charter for the founding of Ktathria around 1,700 years ago.
These records range from being as innocuous as personal correspondence between Empresses and their Archduchesses, to being as significant as declarations of war. Due to the vastness of the collection even the official record keepers cannot be certain how many documents are present, but it is thought that there could be more than a million.
The vaults also house the Empress's wine cellar, the Imperial Jewels and more than 300 of the official garments worn by previous Empresses during public engagements. Periodically these garments are fetched out of storage and auctioned for charity, with some selling for more than a million shillings as domestic and overseas visitors compete for a piece of the Empire's history.
In the realm of Celestria, beneath the Great Temple of Ktathria, lies a second storage facility. This one is home mainly to ancient artefacts, many of which are said to have religious significance while others are archaeological finds of unknown significance. Some of these artefacts come out of storage for predetermined lengths of time to be exhibited to the public at museums across the Empire.
