The festivities began at exactly 10:00 yesterday morning with a carriage drive through Los Bouxiana by Their Imperial Majesties, The Royal Family and the various visiting Royals. The Bride, as per tradition, rode alone through the capital in the Queen Mary Couch, but was met at the door of the Cathedral by her father, the Argentinstanian King. They processed down the aisle to the Handel's Arrival of The Queen of Sheba, and were met at the altar by Prince Rainer and The Archbishop of Los Bouxiana, William Adam Lambert. After during the customary deference to the altar, the ceremony began. Conducted by the Archbishop, it followed the well-established order of weddings in the Dou Bouxian Church: they both promised to be faithful and true to each other and to honour and cherish each other till death do they part. With the signing of the three marriage registers, a uniquely Royal tradition, all was official. The newly created Prince and Princess of Santana (the King-Emperor having bestowed the title on Prince Rainer yesterday morning) paid homage to the King-Emperor and Queen-Empress and the King and Queen of Argentinstan and left the Cathedral to greet the millions of well-wishers eager to see the newly-weds.

Another carriage procession to the Imperial Palace for the reception followed. The reception took the form of a State Lunch for some five hundred important guests. A ball later that evening, for some one thousand five hundred, lasted last into the night. The details of the couple's honeymoon have not yet been released, except that they will be spending part of it Semolia at the invittation of the Royal Family.

Hopefully this is the start of a bright new future for the Prince and Princess!

It's Official!

Palace announces engagement of Prince Jacques Eduardo to Constance, Lady Newcome!

Robert Thistlemore, Royal Correspondant

The wait is over! It's official - they're engaged! After being together for twenty-years, Prince Jacques Eduardo, Prince of Bonafacio (The King-Emperor's cousin and The Crown Federation of Recon's Delegate to the World Assembly) and Constance, Lady Newcome (entrepreneur, humanitarian and phillanthropist), have decided to tie the knot! In keeping with centuries old tradition, the official announcement -made by the by The Duke of Saint-Carl in his capacity as The Lord Chamberlain - was pinned on a notice board outside the Palace this morning; however in an embrace of modernity, the notice was also uploaded onto the Palace's website and onto social media. The text of the momentous announcement may be seen below:

Image
(above) The announcement from The Imperial Palace
In an interview with this reporter, Cynthia, Lady Reynolds, a close friend of the couple, and a trustee of The Hamilton Foundation, said: "I am extremely happy for both of them. It is a match made in absolute heaven! They completely and utterly adore each other and I suppose in a sense, are true soulmates, in every sense of the phrase. Their relationship has lasted the amount of time it has because it is built on love, compassion, companionship, acceptance and mutual respect. Each one accepts the other for who they are, no matter what. The fact that they are able to acknowledge each other's strengths and weaknesses makes their relationship even stronger.

They also respect each other's work, hobbies and passions. He respects her work at The Hamilton Foundation and in her family business (The Hamilton Holdings Group, LLC.), and she respects his ambassadorial work, his philanthropy and his role as The Crown Federation of Recon's Delegate to The World Assembly. Both of them understands that the other has lost a spouse (Jacques Eduardo's wife, Jacqueline, died in a plane crash in December 1997; and Constance's husband, Robert, died of cancer in January 1998), and neither of them is trying to remove the memories that the other has of their late spouse, but both of them have made the decision that they want to be together in their twilight years, as companions, as friends, and as husband and wife."

Image
(above) Cynthia, Lady Reynolds
Not much has been made public about the engagement as of yet, except that it took place yesterday evening during a sunset stroll and picnic in The Orangery at Bonafacio Castle, the Prince's primary residence in Bonafacio. After a stroll through the orange groves, the Prince proposed to Lady Newcome under a nearly three-hundred year old orange tree, known as Cupid's Tree, under which generations of Bonafacio Princes have either been engaged or married.

The Prince presented his future Princess with a stunning 20 carat (one carat for each year that they have been together so far), emerald-cut, type IIa, flawless, white diamond ring, set in platinum. It is unclear who the makers of this astonishing creation are, but experts believe that it is likely to have been, Angelo's, the Crown Jewellers.

Details about the wedding itself have not yet been made public, except that it will take place in June, that it will be in communion with The Church of Dou Boux (of which both the Prince and Lady Newcome are members), and that it is most likely be small and intimate. It has also been announced that in preparation for the wedding, Lady Newcome will be undergoing a name change. The Palace announced that the King-Emperor will be granting Lady Newcome a Royal Warrant to amend her name from Jane Constance Hamilton Newcome to Constance Alexandra Adele Marie Newcome. Although she was born with the name "Jane", she has never used it, and has always been known as "Constance". The change of name is not to brush away her heritage, experts say, but rather to keep within the practice of brides having only one surname, but multiple given names, and Lady Newcome feels that because she has never used the name "Jane", there is no reason to keep it. However, the Royal Warrant will only take effect the day before the wedding and Lady Newcome will still retain her title.

Eric Dabney, Head of Public Relations at The Hamilton Holdings Group, made the following statement this morning: "On behalf of Sir Charles, Lady Newcome's brother, and the entire staff of HHG, may I just say how thrilled we are at this wonderful announcement! We wish His Royal Highness and Lady Newcome a long and happy married life together."

This reporter cannot wait for the day that the Prince and Lady Newcome finally say "I DO!" It's going to be spectacular!

The Sun Still Rises on The Empire!

Government announces that Southern Bristen Protectorate is to become Colony!

Oswald Fields, Colonial Correspondent

In a move that many in the know have praised as "fantastic" and "marvelous", The Government realeased a statement early this morning confirming that, Yes - the remours are true, the Protectorate of Southern Bristen is to become a Dou Bouxian Colony on the first of July.

Image
(above) The announcement from The Government
This announcement comes in the wake of an Order-in-Council passed by the King-Emperor to the effect of annexation this morning. The Order-in-Council brings to the end a six month process which started when Dou Bouxian troops landed in the then dysfunctional Colony of West Bristen Faults, after The Kingdom of Jeltronia left the Colony in early December 2017.

Dou Boux then entered into negotiations with Semolia, another great colonial power who also has substantial interests in Bristen Faults, over the fate of the ill-fated Colony. After months of negotiation, the two powers struck a deal: Dou Boux would annex the lower half of the Colony and Semolia would annex the upper half. This was formally ratified and completed.

Dou Boux then declared a Protectorate in the lower half of the former Colony, under the name The Protectorate of Southern Bristen, with Brigadier-General Maximillian Arterbury serving as Administrator. This was the arrangement that would serve until plans could be formally implemented for Southern Bristen to become a Colony.

It has taken a substantial amount of time - nearly seven months (which is a long time in the life of any Government) - for the plans to come into fruition, but they finally have. On the advise of Prime Minister Sir Anthony Redgrave, the King-Emperor executed an Order-in-Council (now called The Southern Bristen (Annexation) Order-in-Council) this morning, which declared that the Protectorate of Southern Bristen, on the 1st of July 2018, would be annexed as a Dou Bouxian Colony, The Colony of Southern Bristen.

Image
(above) The Partition Line
Portion "A": The United Kingdom of Semolia
Portion "B" The Colony of Southern Bristen (under the sovereignty of The Kingdom of Dou Boux)
In a statement to reporters outside the Houses of Parliament, shortly after the Order-in-Council was passed, Sir Ferdinand Montrose, Secretary of State for The Colonies said: "This is truly a wonderful day for The Kingdom of Dou Boux! This annexation has come as a result of months and months of hard work with the end goal being to give Dou Boux the ability to improve the lives of all those living in Southern Bristen. We are extremely happy with the results and we, The Colonial Office, wish Southern Bristen all the best for a truly prosperous future!"

Dame Constance Somerset, former Head of The (now defunct) Transitional Council made the following statement: "We, the people of Southern Bristen, are truly delighted by this absolutely wonderful news! We look forward to a long and happy relationship with the Kingdom of Dou Boux!"

The Government also announced that Madison Court, the de facto Capital of Southern Bristen, is to become the official Capital of the new Colony and that it will undergo a name change and, as of the first of July, become known as Fort Salisbury. Brigadier-General Maximillian Arterbury, former Administrator of the Protectorate, is to become the first Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Southern Bristen. The Governor will be sworn in at Government House, Fort Salisbury, tomorrow.

NEW MARRIAGE BILL INTRODUCED!

House of Delegates Packed As Bill That'll Give Homosexual Couples the Ability to Marry Is Brought Before Parliament

Dianne Colbert, Senior Parliamentary Correspondent

Los Bouxiana - The House of Delegates was packed to the rafters this afternoon for the first reading of The Marriage (Homosexual Couples) Act, which - if passed - will give homosexual couples the ability to marry was brought before Parliament for the first time. Introduced by Sergio De La Cruz, the Minister of Home Affairs, the bill seeks to give homosexuals a right that they have been campaigning for, for decades - the right to get married.

After shouting had died down, the Minister began by saying: "Good afternoon Honourable Members. I thank the Speaker for being given the opportunity to speak here this afternoon about a bill that effects the lives of thousands and thousands of Dou Bouxians. Honourable Members, the right to marry is one that millions of people in this country take for granted. Any one over the age of eighteen in this country can marry. However, there are people in this country, loyal citizens of His Imperial Majesty, who cannot marry the person they love, simply because the person that they love is of the same-sex that they are.

Image
(above) A packed House of Delegates this afternoon
Honourable members, I'd like to put a little thought into the minds of members who are oppossed to this bill, particularly those who are married. Imagine yourself and then imagine your partner, husband or wife, it doesn't matter. Now imagine if, irrespective of how much you love your partner, you cannot get married. Imagine it - think about how youd'd feel. Angry, upset, distraught. Now think about all of those people who cannot marry the one they love, simply because they are homosexual."

He then went on the read the bill for the first time to an absolutely quiet house. The bill was then seconded by Eileen Wyatt-Sherman, the MP for Stravaté-West.

The second reading of the bill is set for the 18th of December 2018.

Jack and Connie

A Royal Wedding 20 Years In The Making!

Robert Thistlemore, Royal Correspondant

Los Bouxiana - It took them long enough, but Prince Jacques Eduardo (His Imperial Majesty's cousin and The Crown Federation of Recon's Lord Delegate to The World Assembly) and his long term partner, Constance, Lady Newcome (entrepreneur, humanitarian and philanthropist) are now officially married! In a break from tradition, the couple had both their civil and religious weddings on the same day. A source close to the couple said: "They have waited so long already and they have just decided that they don't want to wait any longer".

Image
(above) The Charles IV Salon
The action-packed wedding day began at 10:00 yesterday morning in The Charles IV Salon of The Imperial Palace; where, in the presence of some 250 close family, the couple were married civilly by Lord Coleman, the newly-installed Lord Chief Justice. For the thirty minute ceremony, the bride wore a white silk suit by Emanuel Ferreira (who has been the Royal Family's trusted couturier for decades) and a diamond parure given to her by the Prince as a wedding present. After the ceremony, the couple and guests went to get reading for the religious ceremony set to take place at Saint Augustine's Cathedral later in the day.

Things kicked off again promptly at 13:00 with a carriage ride through the city by Their Imperial Majesties, The Royal Family and the visiting Royals invited to the service. The bride, as per centuries old tradition, rode to the Cathedral alone in the Queen Mary Coach. Now wearing a white silk and lace dress (again by Emanuel Ferreira) and a second diamond parure (on loan from the Queen-Empress), the bride was met at the door by her older brother, Sir Charles Hamilton (Chairman of The Hamilton Holdings Group). They processed down the aisle to Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks and were then met at the alter by Prince Jacques Eduardo and William Adam Lambert, the Archbishop of Los Bouxiana (who was to conduct the wedding). Sir Charles kissed his sister and hugged the Prince before taking his seat next to his wife, Lady Hamilton.

Along with the Archbishop, the couple did deference to the altar and then the ceremony began. In accordance with traditions of the Dou Bouxian Church, the couple promised be faithful and true to each other and to love and respect each other, till death do they part. As is by now a well-established royal tradition, the couple signed three marriage registers and with the completion of their signatures, all was official! After twenty years together, the couple were finally married!

Image
(above) The King and Queen of Argentinstan before the religious ceremony
Although a strictly family and friends affair (at the couple's request), over an estimated thousand people gathered in the Cathederal to watch the ceremony, which they all agreed was long overdue. Amongst the guests were: the entire Royal Family (including the Prince's children from his marriage to the late Princess Jacqueline), the Hamilton family, the Newcomes (the bride's children from her marriage to the late Lord Newcome), as well as hundreds of friends that the couple have made over their decades in business, philanthropic and diplomatic circles. Special guests included: Their Majesties the King and Queen of Argentinstan, TRH Prince and Princess Thales Sherman Legrand of The Recon Empire and TRH The Earl and Countess Vaneader of The Recon Empire (the second and third couple representing HM Queen Joan of The Recon Empire). All three couples attended as members of the extended Royal Family. Although a non-political event, The Earl of Weldon, KGCC, a former Prime Minister and now humanitarian, attended in his capacity as a close friend of both the bride and groom.

Image
(above) Randolph Hamilton, the bride's nephew, and his wife, Sofia
The bride and groom were then led back into the main Cathedral by the Archbishop and introduced to the congregation as a married couple. The Prince and his Princess (who will now take the official title Her Royal Highness The Princess of Bonafacio, Lady Newcome, DGCC) then paid homage to the King-Emperor, the Queen-Empress and the Queen-Empress Dowager (as well as the King and Queen of Argentinstan) and then left the Cathedral to greet the millions of people who had gathered outside to catch a glimpse of them.

Image
(above) The King-Emperor and Queen-Empress arriving for the religious ceremony
The couple, the Royal Family and the visiting Royals then took part in a carriage procession back through the capital to The Imperial Palace for the wedding reception. The first reception was a State Dinner in The Margherita Dining Room for over six hundred guests (family and close friends of the couple). After the dinner, guests retired to prepare for the Ball that was to take place later that evening. The Ball, for some 1000 guests, started promptly at 22:00 and ended in the early hours of the morning. According Imperial Palace insiders, part of the couple's honeymoon will be spent at Mount Tyche, the Duchess of Barcecedo's 7500 acre plantation in De Ladzlo. The Duchess, an incredibly close friend of the couple reportedly offered it to them as a honeymoon destination as soon as she heard they were engaged. The Prince and Princess are set to leave for their honeymoon on Friday the 11th of January.

This reporter is delighted that the Prince and Princess have (finally) tied the knot, and wishes them every success and happiness in the future!

Princess Clarisse to Wed!

Palace announces engagement of Princess Clarisse to Prince Linnaeus of The IRU!

Robert Thistlemore, Royal Correspondent

Los Bouxiana - The friendship between Dou Boux and The Imperial Royal Union reached new, fantastic heights this morning with the announcement of the engagement of Princess Clarisse, the King-Emperor's youngest daughter, to Prince Linnaeus, Marquis of Lurnfeld, cousin of Emperor Thales XIII of The Imperial Royal Union.
Image

(above) Her Royal Highness The Princess Clarisse
In keeping with long-established royal traditions, The Lord Chamberlain's official announcement was pinned on a notice board outside the Imperial Palace early this morning, as well as being posted on The Palace's website and social media pages. The official announcement may be seen below.
Image
(above) The announcement from The Imperial Palace

According to Countess Sofia di Armando-Scarsi, a friend of Princess Clarisse, the couple first met at the wedding of the Princess' brother, The Crown Prince, in 2016. The then 20 year old Princess was partnered with Prince Linnaeus for the wedding celebrations and they struck up and immediate friendship. The pair were then united again in 2017 at a diplomatic reception given at Sylveraus Castle, the King-Emperor's estate in The Imperial Royal Union.

In June 2017, the King-Emperor invited Prince Linnaeus to join the Royal Family for a cruise of the Gustavic Sea on the royal yacht, Deo Volente. It was on that two-week cruise that Princess Clarisse and Prince Linnaeus became a couple. The Prince was a constant feature at almost every single Dou Bouxian state event for the next two years inviting rumors that marriage was on the cards for the couple (hopefully). However, there was no official announcement regarding marriage until this mourning.

This afternoon, Princess Clarisse and Prince Linnaeus (who holds the title Marquis of Lurnfeld) made an appearance outside the Imperial Palace to answer questions from the Press. According to the Princess, the Marquis "popped the question" at the Fortress of Santa Rossi, one of the ancestral seats of the Dou Bouxian Royal House. She said: "We were having a sunset picnic on the roof, and he suddenly got down on one knee and asked if I would do him the honour of spending the rest of my life with him. And of course, I said yes!" The groom proposed with a ten carat internally-flawless white diamond, set in platinum. The diamond is rumored to be from The Imperialean Royal Treasury and the ring is believed to have been created by Angelo's, the Crown Jewelers.

Details regarding the wedding have not been released yet. However, it is believed that it will take place in late July and that there will be two ceremonies (one civil and one religious) - in accordance with The Royal Marriages Act, 1725. We shall release all details of the wedding as they are made available. We wish Princess Clarisse and her Prince Charming every happiness in the future!
