[Coconut Palm Island]

Coconut Palm Island is, as the name suggests, an Island. In the Atlantic, it is mostly round-shaped. As with many Islands, people tend to congregate toward the beach, away from the rainforest in the inner Island.Our entire Island has just under 14 million citizens, plus up to 2 million tourists in the busiest times (although, with what's going on now, tourism is down almost 50%).

Our largest city is Largo Beach, with about 2.5 million people plus about 1 million tourists. In Largo Beach is the Royal Palace, which includes the Senate chamber and the King's offices and residence. There is also the Royal Court, where the Court meets and where ceremonial occasions (inaugurations, big speeches, etc) occur. Largo Beach is by far a top location for tourists due to the history and the beaches. King's Beach, the beach where the Royal Court and the Royal Palace are located, is the top destination, with all kinds of tourist attractions. King's Beach is a historic location, where the King announces election results and hosts the New Year's Eve party, the Election Day party, and the Freedom Day Party (July 1 each year, when the newly elected Senate assembles). Largo Beach hosts Largo Beach University, the largest university on the Island, which specializes in teaching social sciences such as political science, psychology, etc.

Our second-largest city is Palm City. If Largo Beach is the clean, bustling city, Palm City is the secluded more suburban-feeling city. Palm City is almost directly across the Island from Largo Beach, on the opposite coast. Largo Beach is home to 1 million, including many retirees. It is quieter, with tourist attractions being more nature-based and less party based. Largo Beach hosts about 200,000 tourists at any given time. There is less beach, more rocky shores, and a lot of prairie and rainforest preseves. Palm City is home to Palm College, a liberal arts university.

Our third-largest city, Canopy City, is the only major city located in the rainforest, home to 700,000. It's a halfway point between Largo Beach and Palm City (or, just about any cross-island trip). Largo Beach is on the North beach, Palm City is on the South beach, and Canopy City is just about dead-center, in the rainforest. The tourist attraction is minimal for all except the most avid hikers, but it is home to many more introverted citizens. Canopy City hosts many scientists, and is home to King's Institute of Medicine, the premier Medical school on the Island.

Beyond those three, our Island has no other cities home to more than half a million. Because of the small size of the Island, individuals tend to live far from where they work. For example, the average citizen may work and hang out in Largo Beach, but live in a small suburb about 30 minutes into the rainforest. The Island is small enough that a person could drive around the circumference in less than a day. Yet, only 30% of the Island is inhabited, the rest is wilderness. About 10% of the Island is nationally protected, and no one can live in these areas without special permission.

For example, Berlin is the largest city and the capital of Prussia, but it is not in the largest metro area as the province of Brandenburg is not as urban.
