Metric system is the one and only system in the nation, anyone caught using Imperial measurements are subject to convert it.

Great Nortend uses the Catherinian system of weights and measurements. It is similar to the British Imperial system however the relationships between units differ and the exact size too. For example, there are 1728 yards in a mile instead of 1760 and 1728 pounds in a ton short instead of 2240. The system is based around the number twelve and has also been known as the Dozenal system. It has been in common use since the 18th century and is based on previous Nortan units which were amalgamated and simplified. There are also a large number of subsidiary units in common use in certain fields and industries. The system also includes electro-magnetic units as well as units for more recent scientific developments.

The Catherinian system (and its subsidiary units) is the only legal system of weights and measurements to be used in Great Nortend for trade purposes. It is also the only system in common use both domestically and in scientific and industrial fields. The metric system or any other form of units is not permitted for trade and is not taught in schools and only as an aside in universities and colleges.

Democratic Cottony uses a soft metric system, with the imperial measurements said in the equal metric measurement. Butter is commonly sold as 454g, for example.

Lancaster Island has used the metric system in agriculture and retail since the collectivisation of agriculture in 1970.

Road signs are metric too, but in everyday speech Lancaster Islanders use miles and yards. We also use stones and pounds for weight, and feet and inches for height.

The Imperial Dominion of Longweather and Her Dominion Worlds and Colonies use the système international d'unités. This was nothing other than a practical decision as the ancient Alor conquerors of the House of Longweather created the Imperial Dominion from a nation that used it as did the much of the global community. The Longweather nobles would have preferred to use a system of units from their native universe before their exodus (The Daggerlander Standardized Units or the Alor Customary Units) but they didn't initially have the international influence at first to push for a change. By the time the Imperial Dominion was properly established and power was solidified, the nobles had grown accustomed to SI units. Also, it would have been costly to force such a change.

OOC: No, all those people give me more and more reason to maintain the imperial system. With the fact that Robespierre's France was the first country to adopt the metric system, one should rather call the metric system uncivilized.
