Weapons are based on a four-tier system:

Tier 1
Weapons like pocketknives, batons, etc. These are not regulated, but in some instances (tazers) have age restrictions.
Tier 2a
Handguns, shotguns, most non-automatic weapons. To get a 2a permit, citizens must complete 10 hours of training with each gun, and 2 additional every year. Violent felons and those severely mentally ill may be restricted or banned from having these weapons, but appeals are available on a case-by-case basis. Both concealed and open carry are acceptable.
Tier 2b
Heavy weapons, like automatic rifles. To get this weapon, a citizen must complete 2a weapon training and complete 20 additional hours plus 4 additional hours per year. To have a tier 2b weapon, a person must receive permission for each weapon. Felons or severely mentally ill individuals almost never receive 2b licenses. While 1 and 2a weapons are seen as a right, 2b weapons are seen as a privledge for those who can responsibly own guns.
Tier 3
Military (and sometimes police) only weapons. Mostly used for bombs and grenade launchers.

All non-automatic firearms are permitted under licence in Fenton Island. All licence holders are automatically enrolled in the Fenton Island State Militia, and are required to attend militia training exercises for two weeks each year as a condition of holding the licence.

Civilians are only allowed to personally own shotguns and single-shot rifles, after attaining a permit by going to mandatory safety courses and evaluations. However, civilians employed as security guards can carry around handguns as part of their jobs, although the security guard company owns the gun.

Traditional weapons such as swords have very few restrictions, only that the purchaser be over 20 and not be a violent criminal.

All ballistic firearms not designed to propel an explosive charge have a legal pathway to ownership in Vertpilier. Shotguns, handguns, and manual action rifles can be acquired upon satisfactory completion of the Civilian Firearms Acquisition Application. Semi Automatic Rifles may be acquired through the Individual Defense Firearms Acquisition Application (which includes completion of a psychological evaluation), Full Auto weapons may only be privately owned by those who are awarded a Charmorral Letter of Militia. These are beseeched from the citizen's Legislative Representative and awarded at their sole discretion, though a general precedent is that police or military veterans who meet all qualifications for the IDFAA are essentially guaranteed one on request.

Federal law in Sudbrazil defends every citizen's right to the ownership of weapons. There are three weapons tiers available:

1. Unregulated: things such as pressure guns, knifes and batons are unregulated. Any citizen can carry them. Black powder weapons, though, are practically in this category, with the only restriction being the amount of powder a citizen can own.

2. Small Arms: handguns to automatic rifles have varying restrictions. For semi automatic weapons, a simple test suffices, along with a small background check.
For automatic weapons, the shooter must have owned and operated a gun responsibly for at least six months, and pass through heavier regulation

3. Destructive Devices: rare due to their price, they include bombs, cannons, flamethrowers and the like. A citizen must pass through several tests, and must have committed no felonies in the past few years. After that, he can own the device he wants. The most common case of these are flamethrowers, and the largest destructive device recorded in the recent years was a 40mm AA cannon.

None. They're banned in TFGO. A taser takes a month, often two to file paperwork for a license to get one and even then they cost quite a bit.

Re-editing because of new legislation. All pistols, legal. Shotguns (except automatic) legal. Rifles (not military grade) legal. SMGs, legal. Other firearms and explosives (grenades) illegal. Most melee weapons are legal.

Most firearms are permitted under license for the citizens of Hokkaido-Sakhalin. The following are not:
-Firearms classified as “Machine Guns”
-Explosive Firearms
-Anti-Tank Rifles

Otherwise, you are free to purchase weapons at state-owned Recreational Firearms Stores.

Weapons tend to be expensive, so most citizens generally hold a pocket knife or other handheld weapon. Farmers like to purchase shotguns, while the few sane folk generally hold a pistol if they can even afford one. Aside from that, all weapons are strictly for military or police use.

Those not in prison, not in a mental hospital, and not on probation or parole can own all firearms up to the AK 47 level, and all non firearms except for tazers (restricted to police and prison guards) the most recent sort of baton (restricted to police and prison guards) although other batons/truncheons are ok, and pepper spray (de facto banned for everyone.) Grenades, RPGs, WMDs, and guns that are deadlier then AK47s are for the police/military only. Even many of those on probation or parole might well be permitted non-firearm weapons for self defence, unless doctors think them mentally unfit to bear arms entirely.

It is not uncommon to see cargo and Ore Haulers carrying plas-pistols (Plasma pistols), and most civillian ships have Armories with Pulse and Plasma Rifles, even obsolete slug guns. Basically you need to be registered as a Hauler or other similar job in order to have anything more powerful than a slug gun, and have to be registered with the Sector's Firearm Agency to own any firearm.

Appalachian law allows citizens to keep arms for defense of their home and property, and for sport. Concealed carry by non-police is prohibited, however, as is "brandishing" a weapon in public (a weapon being transported from place to place should be in a locked container).

Allowed weapons include semi-automatic pistols, rifles, and shotguns, and bolt-action rifles. Automatic weapons are not allowed. For hunting purposes, scopes and silencers are allowed.

Guns are registered and purchases tracked, and a written safety test is required for purchase. Violent offenders may lose their right to ownership for life. A person deemed mentally unfit by a public health authority may also be blocked.

The second amendment gives our citizens the right to bear arms. This was interpreted by our constitutional literalist supreme court to mean that citizens had the right to own not firearms, but the severed arms of bears. Consequently, our citizens now have a constitutional right to keep and own severed bear arms.

Non-automatic firearms may be acquired upon completion of the various background checks, mental health checks, home safety checks etc by the police. Automatic weapons and 'heavy' weapons (explosives, rocket launchers, etc) are strictly not permitted under any circumstance. Gun clubs and sport shooting are quite popular in the Union, and many gun owners keep their weapons stored at their gun club rather than at home.

Only those of sound mind, clean criminal record and proper training may own a firearm. As mandatory service has been in effect for over 40 years, most have at least the last one. Mentally disabled persons are not included in mandatory service.

Anything not fully-automatic is up for citizen ownership, though one can gain a special permit for fully-automatic weapons that must be renewed every 12 months.
Only those in a militia may open carry, but not in public spaces.

Militias as organisations can purchase artillery and other weapons under special licenses.

To purchase firearms, a citizen must have undergone military training. As conscription is mandatory, this means that a large segment of the populace is qualified to carry firearms. Citizens who opt to undertake a different type of national service but later wish to buy firearms, must undergo a six month training course in their use beforehand. All qualified citizens are encouraged to keep a pistol in their home, and to carry it with them when they are in public. As concealed carry licenses are issued alongside firearm ownership certificates, concealed weapons are common. Semi-automatic weapons are legal for citizens to own, but fully automatic weapons are not. Only citizens who are part of a regulated militia may own automatic weapons.

From 1892-1895 Granlurasians had the right to bear arms, and this only included revolvers and rifles. This was to assure that the nation would have a militia, like the one in the US, to defend itself against tyranny. Obviously it didn’t work out (we’re a dictatorship :P) and the citizens were told that the nation was secure and there was no need for a militia or right to bear arms.
During the Spanish Civil War the Republicans attacked Granlurasian border because of Granluras’ support of the Nationalists. This didn’t just make the government go to war with the Republicans and intervene in the Civil War, but it lead to the passing of our equivalent of the second amendment, but it was in eight place. I’m going to copy this from the constitution draft I’m working on:
“In times of war or whenever the civil populace (in part or entirely) is threatened, the State is allowed to implement a policy of selective weaponization, which [only] allows the high-risk areas of the populace to be armed for means of self-defense. Once the threat is nullified deweaponization is to occur and the status quo ante bellum is to return.”
TL;DR we use to have the right but it was dropped and now we only have weapons, to a certain degree and limited number, during crises.
