The Freehold of Ephyra does not actually permit women into politics in the traditional sense. Women do not vote nor do they run for office, and as a result, neither the Archons of the Freehold, nor the Archons of State that form the Executive Council (or any other position) are ever held by women.

This typically leaves however the highest ranking women in the Freehold being the wives of the highest ranking men, those being the two Archons of the Freehold, a joint position to ensure better rule. Though the wives of these men hold no official title, they are commonly referred to in English speaking nations as the 'First Ladies of the Freehold'. In the Freehold, they are distinguished by being addressed by their full name. It is customary for women of the Freehold, though they are given clan-customary birth names, to be addressed by a feminised form of their clan name. For example, a woman born to the clan of Anogarīha would be routinely addressed as Anogaria, and often denoted numerically from her sisters, should she have any.

The First Ladies of the Freehold, as important women, are routinely designated by their full name. They are currently Ephyra Kessathihir Velareon (Kessathia), wife of the Archon Aenor Kessathihir Velareon. As a result of their higher social class, theirs is a family that follows the tradition of incest. Ephyra Kessathihir Velareon is the sister of Archon Velareon. The other First Lady, wife of Archon Vaedar Skorihir Laeriar, is Leyla Skorihir Laeriar, cousin to the Archon, rather than a sister.

These women often accompany their husbands on foreign visits, as well as welcoming dignitaries and especially greeting the most prominent women of foreign nations. Also of significance are what are called the 'First Daughters', female offspring of each Archon, though these are far less politically prominent than their mothers, husbands, and brothers.

It's hard to tell who's the highest ranking woman in the Federation of Lillorainen. Women's role in Lillorainian politics has been on the rise since Day 1. Currently, about a third of all Meritocratic Council members are female - and out of nine states, four have a female Prime Minister (or equivalent).

Our historically quite young nation has already had two female Presidents; Henriette Rostrup and Marie Seelscheid.
