OOC: The referendum was legal in Catalonia. The Spanish forces who cracked into poll stations and brutalised voters and arrested deputies who were elected democratically were illegal. But I don't think that's the place to talk about it.

We do not recognise Catalonian independence. The separatists have flagrantly disregarded the rule of law--contrary to the assertion of some nations, the referendum was declared illegal by the Constitutional Court of Spain before it took place, & again after it took place. We also feel that Madrid's response should have been stronger. Any Catalonian police who refused to stop this & any Catalonian poll workers who went along with said illegal referendum have clearly broken the law & should be prosecuted.

Finally, we have determined that we will not recognise the separatist government formed from the snap election that called by Madrid. We will also withhold any & all currently-existing & future recognition of any high-ranking government official who is part of a Catalonian separatist group at all levels of Spaniard government.

Catalonia won. Most modern states that refuse to recognize Catalan Independence, were themselves not recognized by other states at their inception. So their opinion is irrelevant
