As it is Orthodox Christian, it surely does. In fact, it is one from few fun things in otherwise gloomy life.

despite the fact that we're not even from Earth, Like the majority of the cultures and civilizations in the world, the first month of Winter (being so close to the winter solstice) is a month of holidays for Pilarcraft too. we do not celebrate the birthday of a fictional character, but we do celebrate the Day of New Life, which occurs on the same week as Dec 25, and we also do celebrate Magnus' Plight, which is the day of winter solstice. well, not as much 'celebrate' as gather together, drink, read books, and possibly dine together.

On a national level, Christmas isn't a celebrated in the islands. But as such, AHSCA does have a small Christian population that does celebrate the holiday.

Christmas is celebrated, but being a nation that is only slightly over 1% Christian, it is celebrated as a secular holiday here by most citizens, not a religious one.

Postby Chadtonia » Mon Dec 25, 2017 3:28 pm

Catholicism is a minority religion in Chadtonia. Only approx. .05% of Chadtonians maintain this religion.

Interestingly, many previous government leaders were Catholic. At that time Catholicism was a minority religion but growing. Catholicism was introduced by Bigtopians.

When a bomb killed about 1/3 of the population in the Capital City, and it was discovered to be a Bigtopian spy affiliated with Catholicism that planted the bomb, many Chadtonians, including government officials left the religion.

However, some Chadtonians maintained the faith practice as is permissible due to Freedom of Religion (excepting the Jehovah Witness terrorist cult.)

Christmas is therefore only practiced by a very very small portion of Chadtonians.

Originally, we just have a solstice celebration that coincides with the new year on Ermarian. However, off-world traditions and rituals (mostly in secularized form) have sort of percolated into the Empire via cultural osmosis over the past century. Our winter celebrations now share some elements of Terran Christmas and Thanksgiving, as well as the Equestrian Hearth's Warming tradition.

And, of course, there is a considerable number of immigrants and native converts (albeit a small fraction of the overall population) who do follow some denomination of Christianity and observe the religious festival.

Edit Fri Feb 16, 2018 5:20: I should add that most of the imported holidays have been fixed more or less arbitrarily to the Ermarianese calendar. As neither the day nor the year are the same length as on Earth, trying to stick to the Earth calendar would be a fool's errand. The solstices sync up once every 43 Earth years (and once every 50 Ermarianese years).

Edit 2021-01-25: The exceptions are commemorations that are more explicitly tied to Terran history than to the seasonal cycle. For example, the very few Terran immigrants who still observe traditions of their previous nationality (Armistice Day, Remembrance Day, Independence Day, Reunification, etc) would do so on whichever day comes closest to the date on Earth, which will be a different date on Ermarian every year.
