On December 30th, 2017 the people of the Republic of Puani will head to the polls to elect the 3rd Parliament of Puani, after the Prime Minister of Puani, Matvey Şatovaya, dissolved Parliament on December 23rd and called for new elections. The Prime Minister had been facing mass protests against him and his governing National People's Alliance coalition (left wing) between the People's Party and his party, the Puanian Socialist Party. The people were demanding economic reform, as the economy has grown slightly under the NPA coalition government, but has been largely stagnant over the past year and wages have not been increasing. They also cited government control of the economy and an absurd tax rate of 70%. Puani's closest neighbor, Ounteler, has been experiencing rapid economic growth and overtook Puani's economy this year, the people cited the Ounteleri President's policies to be enforced in Puani. The Prime Minister of Puani said that since he is against the policies of the Ounteleri President and are against his beliefs he shall call for a snap election to allow the people to decide who they want to govern the country and who represents the policies they demand.
