Hello Everyone!

I am Renée Lépicier, representing our blessed nation of Mizialand as the 60th Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Mizialand. Mizialand is a nation located in Western Maredoratica with a population of over 28 million. Comprising three different cultural and linguistic groups, the Kingdom prides itself as one of the youngest democracy of the world. Our humblest Queen Sophie Vincent throughout the year 2015 and 2016 decided to usher in a new era of civic liberties by converting a 104 year old absolute monarchy into a constitutional one. Please take time to visit our updated factbook if you wish to know more about our nation.

I have come upon, this portal to answer any questions related to Mizialand or anything else. I am ready to give reply to anything you ask that is why I have named this portal 'Ask Me Anything'. This is an initiative to get general public of other nations as well as Mizias to know more about our glorious Kingdom. I will be much delighted to hear your questions about art, culture, philosophy, history, geography, army or anything you have.

What is your nation's most popular cuisine?

The country's geographical division also follows the food eaten by majority of population in each concerned part. The Northern areas have a variety of cheeses, nuts, dishes made from reared animals such as cow, pigs, sheep, hen, fishes etc. Fondue, Cow Tongue, Beef Salad, meatball, etc. feature as popular dishes in this region Peculiar to the interior of these mountains is the healthy use of insects, albeit by a small minority of the people. With spread of globalization and urban lifestyle, the traditional food are being replaced by easy to make food, fast food, cereals, non tradition meats such as chicken, goat, lamb; veganism is gaining popularity slowly but surely in this region.

The people in central and coastal parts of the country (where majority of population live) are well known for their "cold lunch". It consists of bread with a slice of cheese and ham. Breads of various kinds ranging from the humble white bread to the multigrain ones are available in the supermarkets. Dinner usually consists of a green vegetable, potato, a meat dish (usually pork, fish, beef or chicken) along with an alcoholic beverage (wine being the most popular).

A significant proportion, mainly Muslim immigrants and Jews follow their dietary restrictions and have modified the traditional food along these lines.

What do you think of our national anthem?

Since the question asks my personal opinion of the national anthem, I think it is a very false gallop of verses. My ears bleed on hearing it. Officially, the Kingdom of Mizialand recognizes the sovereign right of choosing national music of each nation as it deems fit and respects the values and ethos expressed therein. The Kingdom wishes peace and prosperity on each nation.

What is the symbolism of your flag?

The Mizia flag was adopted by the Parliament on the eve of establishment of the Kingdom in the year 1912. The orange background represents the colour traditionally associated with Mizia monarchy. The blue cross represents the sea, inland waterways, canals, channels, rivers, lakes etc. which form an important part of Mizia identity. Traditionally an agrarian economy, Mizialand has made intensive irrigation advances allowing it to become self reliant in agriculture. Furthermore, the cross divides the flag into four parts each of which represent the initial four dukedoms of the country. The trumpet and the red ribbon represent these initial four dukedoms. The flag bears the Mizia royal standard of arm crowned by a tiara which represents the prevailing power of the ruling monarch.

What is your nation's opinion of Karlsland?

The Kingdom recognizes the shared German ethnicity and language with The Holy Romagnan Empire of Karlsland and believe it to be a point which can take forward our relations. However, development in this aspect require a note of the Kingdom's opposition to colonialism, a policy which Karlsland continues to follow. Assurance of securing the rights and autonomy of the overseas territories is crucial to healthy relations between Karlsland and Mizialand. Furthermore, the Kingdom wishes to express disapproval of Karlsaland territorial claim over Kashmir.

In contrast to the otherwise perceptions, especially among foreign observes the transition of the Kingdom from an "absolute monarchy to a full working democracy" has not been in "such a short time". The Kingdom began political reforms in 1978 when Queen AmberLynn LaPierre began the dissolution of power to local self governing bodies. Since 1979 elections at municipal levels have been held regularly. In 1983, protests demanding greater autonomy erupted in the German speaking provinces of Euskanina. In the same year student protests demanding greater political freedom and 'free and fair' elections were held in major cities such as Heleventia, St. Louis and Dakota. However these protests subsided after the coronation of the current monarch HRH Queen Sophie Vincent in 1984. In 1991 HRH legalized the formation of political parties and moved towards a 'semi constitutional monarchy'. 40% of the members of the Parliament La Frachiere were to be the elected 'non official members'. In the same year all royal titles such as Duke, Count, Sir, Dame and the privileges therein were abolished making the country a 'unitary semi constitutional monarchy' with the Queen and the Immediate Royal Family being declared as the sole Monarchical representatives of the Kingdom. To satisfy the dissatisfaction of the noble gentry, they were given important positions in the now centrist government; however power of the local bodies still remained sacrosanct. In 1996, the Queen proclaimed the the Kingdom will transition to a complete democracy in the next 20 years to enhance its integration into the changing political landscape of Maredoratica. Numerous political and civil reforms were taken in this time frame, most prominent being the gradual increase in the number of non official seats in the Parliament. By 2015, a year prior to the historic announcement of the first nation wide elections, non official members formed 50% of the strength of the Parliament being elected at regular time intervals. In 2016, the Queen finally announced first Nation wide elections, limiting her role to that of a constitutional monarch.
