On December the 17th, and as every 4 years, the Gowinian people will elect their president.
The new Parliament will be elected one month after, on January the 21st, 2018.

Presidential Election : Unexpected first results

As every 4 years in December, voting for the election of the Gowinian President has begun yesterday. Voting stations opened at 5:20 PM and the first results came at 9 PM. And they are surprising : as expected, the very popular center-left-wing candidate Thomas Whittington, 44, leader of the Green Party of Freedom, has already approximately half of the total votes, 50%, tremendously surpassing the announced 36% of voting intentions. Patrick Arngilsson, Leftist Mayor of Strunmahrath, comes second, with 25% of votes, almost twice the expected 13.8%. To the general surprise, the right-wing candidate Daniel Lloyd (Change for Gowinia) comes third with 17%, more than twice the 7.2% of voting intentions. The second surprise are the very bad results for President Lord Gaben, second most popular candidate with 21.4% of voting intentions, who is instead extremely unpopular in the beginning of this election, with an estimated 0 to 1%. Voting still runs until Sunday, December 17th, where the definitive results will be annonced in these very columns.

Ballots closed yesterday, December 17th, at 8 PM, in all of Gowinia for the 29th Presidential Election. The election was won by Thomas Whittington (Green Party of Freedom).
Here are the results :

Patrick Arngilsson, 59 (The Left) : 28,7% of votes

Elliot Johnson, 32 (Pirate Party) : 14.3% of votes

Alexandra Lewis, 41 (Centralist Movement) : 9.8% of votes

Lord Gaben, 55, Current President (Democratic Party) : 6.3% of votes

Anne Engdahl, 49 (Alternative Nationalist Party : 3,6% of votes

Daniel Lloyd, 61 (Change For Gowinia) : 2.9% of votes

Alexia Cunningham, 57 (Communist Party) : 0.9% of votes

Thomas Whittington’s investiture is expected to occur on next saturday or sunday, where he will announce the identity of his Prime Minister and Government.

The government of Miami Shores is not surprised at the election results of Gowinia, lol. We are not surprised the two right wing candidates we supported and still support, did so badly in the elections, while the leftist parties and the Center Left Greens of Gowinia did so well.

Daniel Lloyd of Change for Gowinia, real democratic change for Gowinia you can believe in, only got 2.90 % of the votes, and Gowinia nationalist Anne Engdahl of the Alternative Nationalist Party, only got 3.60 % of the votes, what a shame, together the two right wing parties only got 6.50 % of the votes as we expected, lol, real democratic change you can believe in (gulp).
