Because the Boquense use the Julian calendar, Christmas is celebrated on the night of January 7 of the Gregorian calendar. During the night, people usually sing Christmas carols and pray in front of the manger. At midnight or midday, believers go to Masses to remember the baby Jesus. Firecrackers, fireworks and other pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited. The most consumed dishes are turkey, chicken and lamb. Orthodox Christians avoid eating red meats, dairy products or eggs during Christmas dinner. It is customary for children to give them envelopes with money (it is customary to give 12 drachmas, symbolizing the twelve apostles). At midnight, the head of the family raises a glass of wine and exclaims: Christ is Born! to which all the guests respond Glory to Him!

Statecapistan wrote:We have our own twist to it, yes. It is a national holiday and known to most as just a Winter Solstice celebration. However, it is the few times the religious are allowed to congregate as we are a state atheist nation, and so you'll see our Christians celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, Jews Hanukkah, those of African heritage Kwanzaa, pagans with their various traditions celebrating Yule and others... it is a very good arrangement and it's a national holiday for the government employees as well.

Which means you'd see high-ranking officials partying with Statecapistani citizens. It brings trust and unity. Happy holidays from Statecapistan to every nation in the world!

Yes Christos celebrates Christmas, along with any other festivities during the month of December. We refer to all the festivities as The Holliday Season.

During the Holliday season a national Santa is chosen for the nation. He represents the Holliday season. His successor is chosen when the National Santa Claus decides to retire or passes away.

On christmas day, Leader stays home and eats with her family. Other gyozians do the same, and lost of people eat dumplings. People who don't celebrate it get a day off of work/school, and it is odd, but many take out resturants are open and will give out food half off.
