In this dark age people once were slaves to fancy magical devices that ran there entire lives. Teachers and other people also tell kids of tales where people from long ago could do what they wanted to without the government telling them what to do. These and other stories are treated as horror stories and warnings to kids and young people that if they don't obey the Emperor and the Imperial Government they to would be enslaved by magical powers and forced to do things they do not want to do.

Yuwen Empire is FULL of ghost stories.

The most famous ones involved the "Wu Tou Li Quei" or Beheading Ghost (Wu Tou Li = Beheading, Quei = Ghost). He's a headless horseman who goes around on horseback with a razor sharp glaive, beheading anyone who saw him at night. Legend has it that he was a famous General in the Yuwen army named Prince Yuwen Saladin who was wrongfully accused of trying to start a coup to overthrow the government during the reign of his uncle, Emperor Yuwen Chengizhan. As a result, he was beheaded and this is why he's headless. Fortunately the Wu Tou Li Quei only comes out to roam the streets of Yuwen Empire between 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. Yuwen Timezone. Therefore, everyone who's indoors or not on the streets during that time is safe.

It's said that if a person offers prayers, food and hell money to the Wu Tou Li Quei during the Hungry Ghost Festival that occured every year on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month of the Yuwen Calendar, they'll avoid being beheaded if they encountered the Wu Tou Li Quei.

Of course, they don't know that many of the stories originated from actual alchemical accidents and experiments-gone-wrong, but they'll notice it as soon as they pick up a history textbook. As much of Aeritanian history is untranslatable, most textbooks have plenty of room to detail the factual incidents to dissuade students from attempting something similar. Imaginative youngsters, naturally, took them to their extreme, and now they circulate as the boogeymen of Aeritania.

Here are a few:

Antas Castle, in Themyscira, is the most haunted single structure in Atlantis. Here are a list of some of the paranormal sightings of the castle so far:

• Ghostly planes can be seen in the skies, only to disappear mid-air.

• Anti-aircraft guns will move by themselves.

• Inside the chapel, mass in Latin can be heard, even if no one is in there.

• A woman can be seen jumping off a window to the ground below, only to leave no trace on supposed impact.

The town of Buzan, in Obis province, is the most haunted town in Atlantis. This town was the site of the deadliest battle during the Atlantean civil war. Sometimes, the ghosts of soldiers, be they flickering lights or full-on apparitions, can be seen, either in formation or fighting. The sounds of volley fire, cannon fire, cavalry charges, melee combat, shouting (be it of orders or anything else) and/or crying can be heard.

The most haunted areas of the town are the bridges, where the bloodiest and most crucial parts of the Battle of Buzan occured. It is in here where the paranormal sightings are most plentiful, and arguably most vivid.

Despite this, the most famous ghost of the town could be found not on any of the bridges, but near the now abandoned Church of St Paul, near the old well. This ghost is of a young woman named Lyla, who supposedly jumped into the well a century after the war, after her father forbade her relationship with a poorer man. Her ghost can be found weeping by the well, or jumping into it. Rumour has it that her remains can still be found inside the well.

The town of Mina Lodbrok, in South Ragnvald province, is located almost completely underground, with the reason being that this was (and, to an extent, still is) a mining complex taken to the next level. Somewhere deep within the town lies a large and beautiful cavern called the Chamber. The Chamber is known for its crystalline stalactites and its body of water, and is a tourist attraction, particularly for tripsters.

This chamber is known for paranormal happenings, which include:

• isolated cold drafts and chills down spines

• isolated whispers

• apparitions of miners

• isolated sounds of a girl weeping

• associated with the previous, the apparition of a young girl weeping
