The first computer was the CACFGP (Cantonese Accounting Computer For General Purposes), built in 1950 and located at the Royal Cantonese University. While, as it's name implies, it was mostly made for mathematics and accounting, it could do a lot more, and was considered one of the most advanced computers of it's time. It was one of the first computers to do away with punched cards, and instead used a system of tape cartridges for all of it's storage. It is one of the oldest computers still in existence.

What operating system does your government use? Windows 7 and SUSE Enterprise Linux. The government formerly used Solaris, and before that, NeXTSTEP. Both were UNIX-based operating systems that were phased out in favour of the more common Windows operating system in 2008. Government servers were switched to SUSE Linux in 2010.

MSX computers were popular due to their large library of games and software, with BASIC-based computers like the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, and CCM 800 being popular alternatives, mostly due to their lower prices.
