The Royal Imperial Post is the postal service of Wardland. The RIP has branches and divisions across the Home Islands and the Colonies. Post bound for the Colonies is transported by Royal Imperial Postal Ships (RIPS), which can be both cargo ships and passenger liners, any ship which carries post is classified as a RIPS, or by transport aircraft. In both the Home Islands and the Colonies post is transported by special Postal Trains and barges along rivers to the different branches. Upon reaching a branch it is sorted based on its destination, which can range anywhere from a suburb in a town or city, to an entire county in the Colonies (unlike Counties in the Home Islands, Counties in the Colonies can cover massive stretches of land).

We have the Royal Vallermoorian Postal Service. Only a few forbidden drugs, things such as bombs and the like, and live animals, cannot legally be sent through the postal system.

Companies like DHL, UPS, and FedEx do exist, but the main postal courrier company of Monsone is the government owned Posta Naszionale Monsone, formaly called the Posta Imperijalek Monsone. The PNM was founded aroun 1655 but came into it's current state in 1848 when it's name was made less monarchical. Post is not free, but stamps can be purchase for between F0.05 to F0.25 at any post office in Monsone. Generally the postal system is frighteningly efficient with the average delivery time for a card traveling transcontinetally being two to three days. Most foreign companies are used for deliveries to the outside world since PNM only opperated in Monsone.

Anollasia Post (Turkish: Anolasya Postası; Anollasian: Anolasia Post) is the state-owned postal service and was founded in 1844. Its headquarters are located in the Midtown district of Jefferton. Anollasia Post is the largest postal service and the only one that delivers letters; privately owned postal services only deliver cargo.

The deliverance of letters and packages are done by the Correios, a state-owned company responsible for the postal service of Brazil. For too long the Correios had a monopoly of the postal service, but the market was opened in 1973, during the South American Union, with the creation of the Correo Nacional. The Correo Nacional was closed in 2016 with the end of the South American Union and during the constitutional assembly of 2016-17, the Correios was determined as the national postal service, although it maintained the market open for new companies. The Correios, however, is the only company allowed to deliver letters.

Until 2015 the Imperial Postal Service was a public company that had a monopoly. However the company had been privatized since and its monopoly abolished, though private companies have several obligations to follow to ensure all citizens have equal access.

The Royal North American Post is the biggest postal service in the NAU; it's considered the public option of postal services and it competes with provincial regional postal services and package delivery. It's still the leading postal service in the NAU even after the introduction of private competition in the 1980s.

There are several postal services in Radiatia, but the two largest are TRM and ES Post, both of which are subsidiaries of major corporations. (Government owned postal services were privatised shortly after the fall of communism.)

TRM (Trans Radiatia Mail) is a subsidiary of transportation giant TR (TransRadiatia) who are most well known for running passenger train networks across the Radiatian but who have their hands in all sorts of industries, including post, electricity and telecommunications.

ES Post is a subsidiary of Exegrad Selt - Radiatia's oldest corporation, whose core business has always been logistics. Exegrad Selt actually ran a postal service based in the Exegrad Special Economic Zone during the communist years and became popular at the time as they were able to guarantee that postal mail would be sent and not intercepted by government censors.

(As an aside, government censorship is also the reason why the postal service was so hastily privatised - Radiatians do not feel comfortable with the idea of a state-owned postal service due to how much this was abused in the past.)

While both companies compete in terms of price and quality, the reputation of each is that TRM is cheaper but slower, while ES Post will be more expensive but guaranteed to arrive within a certain time frame.

There are other smaller competitors as well, usually at a state level but these competitors seldom have the national or international mailing capabilities of the main duopoly.

Qaser has one main, state-owned postal company, Postji Kazer (Post Qaser). It has monopoly on delivering official mail, letters. it also does provide parcel services, which are slowly overtaken by private companies such as paQage (read as Package), which, in partnership with convenience stores all around Qaser, allows you to receive your parcel when you're shopping. It is very convenient and easy way which also popularized online shopping, and it is much more cheaper than Postji Kazer services.

Lillorainen has one state-owned postal delivery service, the Federal Post (Lillorainische Bundespost), operating since the unification of the Lillorainian states in 1981, as well as a number of private mail and package services competing with the LBP. The LBP went out of its predecessors, namely, the Lillorainian Post (LP) of the LFR, the Rathenische Staatspost (RSP), the Nessauische Post (NP), the Mangrische Staatspost (MSP), the Fylerische Staatspost (FSP), and the Vedjadingische Post (VP). The official seat of the LBP, as well as the Federal Ministry of Mail, is located in Kerkenich.
Delivery vehicles are yellow and usually have license plates starting with LBP, plus a five-digit number.
In 1983, a national standard for addresses, as well as a national ZIP code system, was introduced:
Line 1: Name of the recipient.
Line 2: Street name and house number.
Line 3: Postal code, municipality, number of postal district.
Example:
    Jan Jansen
    Beispielstrasse 123
    1234 Beispielstadt 56
For deliveries from abroad, "Lillorainen" or "Federation of Lillorainen" is to include in a forth line. As the postal codes clearly distinguish places of the same name (like 3000 Preetz in Rigesöer, as opposed to 6834 Preetz in Vedjading), it is not required, and rather unusual, to include the state or a region in addition to the municipality. If a municipality only has one postal district, it is mandatory to put a 1 behind the municipality's name.

The military mail (Feldpost) uses its own postal code system, with randomized codes for garrisons in order to hide their locations, a relic of the Cold War era.
Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

Madrinet's postal services was provided by the Imperial Reichspost until the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire; with the demise of the Reichspost and Madrinet's independence, the King sought to establish a new postal service which he did with the assistance of Anselmo Cenisçeros, Count of Villaseca. Anselmo had been instrumental in establishing postal routes throughout Italy and Southern Europe, and the Cenisceors family had been involved in logistics throughout southern Europe since at least 1209. Accordingly, the Count was given a monopoly and granted the title Postmaster-General.

In 1851, the King of Madrinet purchased from the Villaseca Company of Couriers the postal privileges of Madrinet for a sum of ƒ1.3 million, thereby nationalising the post office. The newly-founded Royal Madrinetan Communications Corporation was also responsible for the railways and telegraph services, and competition was banned. This arrangement remained until 1951 when private companies were allowed to provide postal services.

There is a national post service, known as the Postje. Letters and government mail are usually transported in this method.

For commercial mail and packages, there are numerous private courier services.

The Lanlike Posttsjinst (abbrev. LPS), referred to as the National Post Service or LPS in English, is a nationalized government service in the Rhedish Republic which handles the transportation of postage and some larger deliveries. The LPS was officially organized in 1839 with the goal of organizing the distribution of postage and mail in the early Republic. The service was seen as an adaptation of the previously existent Royal Colonial Postal Service prior to the Rhedish Revolution. The period between 1839 and following the Revolution saw local agencies or independent couriers handle postal services.

Since 1901 the LPS has been the sole postal service in the nation, handling the transportation of civil letters as well as government and corporate letters. The fulfillment of some package delivery is also carried out by the LPS, though some private delivery fulfillment services exist alongside the LPS. Typically, larger personal packages are handled by private enterprises.

Postby Shikonjima » Sat Jun 13, 2020 5:44 am

The largest mail delivery company in Shikonjima is the state-owned Royal Shikonjimanese Post (until 1988: Imperial Shikonjimanese Post), dating back into the early Fushigi no Jidai era (around 1100 CE). It used to have the monopoly for any form of delivery until 1995, whereupon the market was opened for competitors, especially package delivery.
For a long time, there hasn't been any uniform standard on how to write addresses, since unlike Western countries, streets in Shikonjima are usually not named, so house numbering schemes typically don't follow straight lines, but much rather a block system. Due to various regional traditions which evolved over the time as a result of the different needs local rulers saw for a scheming system (some preferred the use of natural borders for a block, whereas others favored aligning blocks to grid, and so forth), locating an address in another fiefdom was as much confusing for people as sending letters to areas with standards they weren't accustomed to.
For instance, this would be a typical address in the North (romanized):

    Akebono-shuu, Meiyama-to, Nagayama-ku
    7-0-5 Nishi-Hokkouji 1-4
    Tanaka Kenji sama.
In this example, the adress order is: fiefdom (County of Akebono), city (Meiyama), district (Nagayama), house number (7-0-5), block name and number (Nishi-Hokkouji 1-4), name of recipient plus formal address (Mr. Kenji Tanaka).
In the South, however, different traditions have evolved, as visible in the example below:

    Shiratsuyu-shuu, Jikuoka-gun, Oumura-chou
    19-ta 37-bubun Sageto-ku
    Haraguchi Setsuko sama.
In this example, the fiefdom (County of Shiratsuyu) is named first as well, but instead of the city's name, a district name is used, followed by a town's name, due to the differences in subdivisions. The address refers to the 19th house in the 37th section of the city district of Sageto.

In the late 1990s, the introduction of a national postcode system was proposed, in order to solve this confusion and allow a standardized automated reading and distribution process for the entire country. For these purposes, the registries of the Counties, Baronies, and Dependencies were taken together, with all addresses being catalogued in a unified registry. Fur the purpose of possible expansion of settlements, the entire country was subdivided into small squares, allowing for further addresses being assigned under a new system. Throughout the 2000s, the system assumed shape, with all addresses having an eight-digit code consisting of numbers and (Latin) letters, with the first two letters being for the fiefdom or territory (except for Nashinya, the capital, which only starts with N), with several codes for each, which are not always matching the name of the territory (Akebono primarily uses UB instead of AB, for instance). This code system was called Juushobangou, 'address code', and adopted into legislation in 2009. In 2020, the system was extended to the Duchies of the Ferinan-Archipelago upon their Reincorporation.
Due to the squarish nature of the subdivision for the purpose of this system, the non-straight fiefdom borders, as well as possible surveying errors, it is possible, that an address immediately close to a fiefdom border may not have the area code of the fiefdom it is actually located in.
With that code, each of which can be looked up online in order to locate a specific address, the use of formal addresses as in the example above is no longer necessary (yet still possible and fairly usual, as visible below, but the Juushobangou must necessarily be included), and the default address order got changed towards a Western standard, even though it can be still written in the traditional manner as long as the Juushobangou is included.
The address of the examples above under the Juushobangou system would look as follows:

    Tanaka Kenji sama
    Nishi-Hokkouji 14-705
    Meiyama, Akebono
    UB18TZ6Y.

    Haraguchi Setsuko sama
    Sageto 19-37 Oumura-chou
    Jikuoka, Shiratsuyu
    SC60X37N.

While there is no government-sponsored postal service in the Royal Isles, Shalotte is home to a remarkably efficient, volunteer-led postal service, which has existed in some form or another for over 600 years.

Members of each settlement - often farmers, merchants, or other individuals prone to travelling between settlements anyway, but sometimes people who volunteer specifically to carry mail - volunteer to deliver letters and small parcels from their home villages to nearby settlements, then collect mail intended for their own settlements and carry it back upon their return.

Each settlement has a designated 'halfway house' where mail intended for more distant settlements is deposited, to be carried on the next leg of its journey by that settlement's volunteer on their next trip in that direction. Neighbouring volunteers hold regular meetings with each other to coordinate their activities.

Despite its informal and wholly voluntary nature, it is considered to be a valuable community service which its volunteers take seriously, and most of the time mail is able to cross the entire archipelago via their network within the space of around a week.

There are usually no charges for posting mail or small parcels, but larger deliveries may need to be pre-arranged specially, and if there are likely to be unreasonable expenses they will usually be paid by the poster.

Beyond that, the Domnaeni's Executors famously hand-deliver all of their (and the Domnaeni's personal) mail through their own mechanisms, for instance. The Gaeltyn maintains a small cadre of mail-runners for their own formal document deliveries, and some of the larger family businesses based in Alauna occasionally prefer to arrange private mail delivery rather than rely upon the volunteer service. None of these are available to the general public, however.

Postes Septentrionales is the only allowed postal service for standard courrier such as envelopes. Postes Septentrionales also delivers big packages. It is known in English as Northern Post and in Polish as Poczta Polnocna.

There's two private services for big packages: Wieczorkowski Falardeau and NordEx.

Wieczorkowski Falardeau: it was founded by Henryk Wieczorkowski and Guillaume Falardeau as a banking company and a postal service. To this date, the banking branch is still in operations and the postal service only delivers big packages.

NordEx: Is a postal service only and only delivers big packages.

The primary method of transporting mail, including resources and communication, throughout Dark Star Tower is through the DST's vast built-in network of wormholes, chutes, non-sentient machines, and other methods to ensure that mail arrives quickly, safely, and accurately. Suspicious mail is returned to the sender, with darkly humorous results.

The Thermodolian National Postal Service is the sole mail carrier in all of Thermodolia with the exception of the republics and commonwealths which can have their own mail carriers.

Most of the mail is transferred by plane or rail for long haul trips. Semi-Trucks and Vans carry the mail on the medium haul, while postals vans and mail carriers use the last leg.

While Mail carriers are strictly a government operation the delivery of packages is open to anyone

Letters and parcels are carried predominantly by railway, although horse-drawn or motorised mail coaches are used where post offices are located at a distance from railway stations. Delivery of letters is to the door by postmen who usually walk or use a bicycle. Very rural postmen who have long rounds may have the use of a horse-drawn or motorised vehicle but this is rare.

Postmen wear a dark green jacket with red collar and cuffs, dark green trousers, and dark green peaked cap, all trimmed in red.
