Carolinum (also known as Carolina, Magna Carolina, Magnum Carolinum, Imperium Carolinum, the Carolean Empire, among other names) is a fascist state located in and around the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. The nation was founded sometime in the late 5th century by a Germanic warrior named Karl, and was briefly a powerful merchant republic from the late 13th century to the early 20th century, and has been a fascist state since 1927. Augusta Aemilia Aurelia is the ruling Carolina Regina (male version: Carolus Rex). The main language is Carolean Latin and the Carolean Christian Church is the dominate religion.

Carolean Latin combines the various incarnations of the Latin language over the years into a single Latin variant. The language almost incorporates elements of other Romance languages, primarily Italian and Spanish but also hints of Portuguese and French. It typically follows the standard grammar and spelling of Modern Latin with some exceptions. The language is relatively young, having only been created in the 1960s. The language was created primarily due to the need for language conformity as more archaic variants of Latin were often spoken by rural populations while the newer variants were spoken by national institutions and the urban population. The new language was formed as a result and was primarily intended for both populations to be able to learn easily. It as since evolved further to be more similar to the newer Latin variants while adding Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and French influences in order to better assimilate immigrants from those countries.

Carolinum adheres to the economic principles of Carolean Fascism (also known as Othoism), established by Caius Domitius Otho, the founder of both Carolean Fascism and the Carolean Empire. The idea is that important industries relevant to the state are placed under state control while less important industries are given free reign by corporations that are largely independent but also under the watchful eyes of the state to ensure they treat their customers fairly. It also places emphasis on bridging the gap between the social classes to ensure national unity for the betterment of the state.

The goal is a mixture of economic prosperity and equal opportunity in a manner that ultimately benefits the market, the people, and the state alike unlike capitalist individualism or socialist collectivism which solely benefit the first and second, respectively.
