Does your nation provide housing for its citizens?

In idoits we provide government housing for the poorer people. They pay a $5 iCoin (idoits coins. The i stands for the nation's name) rent which must be payed once a month. These people have the choice to get government housing but they also must qualify for this. They must submit a income report and they must submit their bills. In these houses you get the bare essentials and if something breaks, they have to fix it or have a government worker come in and fix it. You must pay 30 iCoins for the government worker.

They pay because we didn't want to put all the cost on the tax payers. There's enough people using the government housing that the revenue from it pays for most of it and the tax payers only pay $500 iCoins in their yearly tax payments.

Maxatopias government provides houses for every citizen. If you get exactly how much you can afford based off of your state economy income. So if you're poor you can only pay for a one bedroom or a two bedroom house. So you get exactly that.

Social housing is considered one of the essential components of the Crylantian welfare state, as well as affordable electricity, universal healthcare and free education. It was instituted by one of the first referenda in the independent Crylantian Federation; the 1943 referendum On the establishment of affordable housing which was passed in a large majority and proposed by Socialist Party Director for Finace Gaius Septimus. It set out an ambitious program where the government built large estates of houses, especially in the towns of Hasselbro, Østbergen, Vestby and Plagam Collis, which were to be rented from the government by individuals struggling to get housing to live in for affordable rates, and in an effort to reduce social deprivation. The housing developments in question were designed to be decent places to live in; parks were set up in the middle of the estates to try and improve the local aura.

The policy has largely been a success, and while it has seen some cuts, such as efforts in the 1980's to sell off some "excess supply" and to give some renters of social housing the opportunity to buy their housing, the original model largely still stands, and has been expanded upon in some circumstances, such as the building of apartment blocks within some of the major cities to add to the collection of social housing.

If a citizen is unable to provide housing for him or herself, they and people who live with them receive government assistance until they can support themselves again.

As the right to housing is considered part of the 'right to general welfare' that is constitutionally guaranteed for all citizens, the Gandoorese government does provide housing to citizens of Gandoor.

There are two forms of housing provided by the government:
The first are public high-rises intended for low-income residents. These high-rises have little to no rental fees. (Under the current law, monthly rental cost for an apartment in a public high rise cannot be greater than 90 GDY and any rental cost is waived for residents who have been employed for three months or more)

The second form is manufactured houses, which are intended for middle-income residents. Manufactured houses currently come in twelve different variations, which have updated and changed in the decades since the first manufactured public houses were used in 1950, and are considered the Gandoorese equivalent to suburbs. The rental costs for manufactured housing can vary depending on the amount of people living in the house, but it has a minimum rental cost (for one person) of 120 GDY monthly and a maximum rental cost of 350 GDY monthly.

To those that are homeless and under the poverty line. If they chose to sell them, they have to specify their new home's location and disclose and the amount, which will be added as a part of their income.

The right to accommodation is an integral part of the Bill of Rights, the final section of the Lex Praecipuum, or Principal Law, the first document of the five total which make up the Imperial Charter.

All housing in Kirislavia is state-owned. Rent for lower-quality housing is cheap enough to be affordable on the universal basic income, while those of higher income can choose to rent better, more expensive accommodations.

Obviously. The right to free state housing for every Imperial citizen is enshrined in the Statutes.

Depending on one's rank and renown, the quality of that housing can differ hugely. For most ordinary citizens, it is merely a shared dormitory room or at best a small individual apartment in a cramped hive-city hab block. More distinguished and qualified Sidhae earn the privilege of residing in more spacious private apartments. It takes, however, a truly distinguished status to earn a luxury penthouse apartment or a personal estate.

Citizens are responsible for maintaining their assigned living quarters with their own efforts and expense, only contacting public services when the problem is beyond their skills to fix. Those honored with personal estates are also fully responsible for their upkeep, seeing how these are luxury residences outside the direct jurisdiction of Urban Development Administration that usually manages the maintenance of residential areas. Usually this is not a problem, since anyone ranking and distinguished enough to earn a personal estate usually has sufficient income for the task. Those who are struggling to pay for upkeep often resort to doing some economic activity on their estates, such as operating a winery or whatever else the local environment and the Imperium's restrictive laws on private enterprise allows. The possibilities are also greatly varied by the size of the estate itself - lesser Sidhae who have only recently managed to earn widespread renown will often have to make do with estates not much greater than a typical sub-urban house of earlier ages, while famous politicians and military commanders with a long record of distinction will often own luxurious palaces with huge country-sized landholds on multiple worlds. In this latter case, the social expectation and unwritten rule is that some form of useful economic activity take place on these landholds to make their existence useful to broader society.

Whatever residence a Sidh may hold, it is never his private property. While his right to privacy is respected somewhat within the bounds of his home, any and all real estate is and remains state property, so that even the most distinguished Sidh cannot feel fully secure about his luxury palace. Neglected or misused property can be confiscated and redistributed, the resident merely holding rights of exclusive use, which can be revoked if the state authorities deem it necessary.
Freedom doesn't mean being able to do as one please, but rather not to do as one doesn't please.

A fool sees religion as the truth. A smart man sees religion as a lie. A ruler sees religion as a useful tool.

During the communist years, the government provided all housing. Housing was ranked in quality from A1 (best) to F3 (worst). Housing could be obtained by paying money to the government or receiving a housing voucher, usually from a state owned company or government job. Since the end of communism, the system still exists in apartment housing, but private companies can also develop and sell land. Much of the government owned single family homes were either sold off to a landlord or sold to their occupants. Most luxury residences are privately owned, and most apartment complexes (quality C1-F3), remain in government ownership.

There are government owned apartments that are cheaper than ordinary ones and serve as way for poorer people to acquire shelter. To make sure no one lies, applicants must report and verify their income so that no one who make more than income bracket can acquire one. This is to insure space for those who truly need it, and those who are financially better off can afford and probably want better places to live anyway.

Zeloxians are provided free housing even if it isn't luxurious. It is one of the few things a state constantly at war with genocidal, slaver, and greater good mentality neighbors can provide.

The "free housing" talked about is merely crowded apartments however.

Rich- mansions (16% flat tax)
Middle class (high)- condos (10% flat tax)
Middle class (true)- simple house with a white picket fence (5-10%) tax
Middle class (low)- apartments (5% flat tax)
Poor- one room housing (2% flat tax)
Homeless- tiny homes (2% flat tax And they are rent exempt since they pay taxes)

All complete with valid addresses and federal funded natural disaster insurance for the tiny homes. No one is homless as such a thing is illegal. There is also a Federal Bureau of Wealth you must sign up with to be registered as poor. The only reason why we are able to do this is because the rich pay a constitutional maximum of 16% of their crowns to the 4 Hemispheric Commonwealths of the Martian Empire.

In the People's Republic of Zhouran, citizens can either own a house, rent a house or build their own house. Compared to other wealthy first-world nations, real-estate pricing in the country is one of the lowest and most affordable in the world. Free-housing is NOT provided in Zhouran.

Currently, the home ownership rate in Zhouran is 94.7%, one of the highest in the world.

Alizeria had a comprehensive social housing scheme between 1931 and 2014 run by the Ministry of Housing.

As part of that scheme, the government would regularly build houses, funding the construction from low interest loans and ensure that those who lived in state houses (if eligible to do so) were not charged more than a quarter of their income on their weekly rent.

From the 1950s onwards, a scheme that would allow tenants to buy their homes was introduced, in order to allow low and middle income people the chance to become property owners, however state housing continued to be built and used for low income tenants.

In 2014, the state housing scheme was virtually abolished as part of a series of radical freemarket reforms known as "Ashtonomics". The government introduced market rents for tenants of state houses (leading to massive rent rises for those who lived in "affluent" areas such as central Krostuk).

The home building scheme was stopped, with the government choosing to subsidise private construction companies through tax breaks rather than fund building projects itself, and much of the housing stock was privatised but sold to investors and land developers - rather than to tenants who were simply booted out.

The government then replaced social housing with an extra benefit, the "housing subsidy" which would be paid directly to landlords supposedly to reduce the cost of rent for those on low incomes - but ultimately allowing rent levels to be set by the market (and often above market prices due to government subsidies encouraging landlords to raise rent levels.)

The result of these reforms has seen homelessness in Alizeria rise to its highest level in a century, while rents, house prices and living costs in the cities have all grown exponentially - although it has created a new class of nouveau riche property owners, who were once middle class but became millionaires due to the sudden rise in property values.
