The military government, increasingly unpopular on the mainland and faced with the prospect of international intervention against Aikawa, is replaced by the Pacifist faction that begins peace talks with both sides. Although granting independence to both movements, the government decides to hold on to some of its Savai holdings as the area is primarily inhabited by the mainland Aikawans rather than the Misainese alongside economic concerns. With the military government ousted the subsequent task for Aikawa has been to repair its international image committing itself to a policy of peace and democracy.

The military of Aikawa is strictly for defensive purposes where any increase of the military's power is met with heavy protest. Diplomatically Aikawa struggles from its past as even its closest country Misai seeks reassurances from other countries.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): The MFAC represents a political locus for the anti-authoritarian left, and intends to be an example of a functional and peaceful decolonized society. Mannatiua was capable during the Cold War of generally being able to align towards the left without sacrificing its political autonomy, thanks to shrewd diplomacy, as well as demand for mineral exports (especially coal, copper, and iron) that fueled an outlet to the world economy and spurred local development, which picked up from the 1960s onwards up until the 1990s, where after the breakdown of the Eastern Bloc, foreign investment plateaued without having a political balancing act it was capable of playing. The 21st Century has seen the MFAC focus more on domestic and regional affairs, as well as in the ongoing Chawpisuyu Revolt.

The Kingdom of Theinvan (named meaning the Heavenly Van - in reference to the predominant ethnic group the Van people) is a unitary constitutional monarchy, headed by the incumbent Empress Phạm Tu Minh and Chancellor Lê Công Lập. The majority of tangible political power is vested in the nation's bicameral parliamentary legislature, the Nhatban, and the Chancellory of State Affairs - marking clear divisions between the meritocratic civil parliamentary government and the ceremonial organs of power such as the Imperial House of Thienvan. Traditional methods of beurcratic appointment through examinations is still common practice in the largely unelected upper house (the House of Scholars), whereas the lower house of the legislature is elected by popular vote. Though the civil government is elected through democratic means, the realm of parliamentary politics has been relatively dominated by the center-right wing to right-wing political coalition; the "To Văn Hợpbáo" (TVH, Great Van Conference) since the 1970s.

Theinvan emerged as a unified political 'state' under the first Van Dynasty in 995 AD. Previously, political power was diffused amongst local units of organizations centered around coastal settlements in a mandala model. The unified Theinvan state would wax and wane, existing in different forms as occasional internal issues of succession would spawn various secondary and contender Dynasties. Far reaching reforms in the 12th century would see that more political power was vested in the unlanded and neutrally perceived scholar-bureaucrats as well as other various reforms which sought to create a more centralized, Imperial government. Following reforms, Thienvan would become more of a regional secondary power - primarily benefiting off of commerce and trade due to its geographical position and focus on expansion of maritime trading routes.

Eventual amicable trade with Western civilizations would lead to a diffusion of ideas and the import of new technology new materials resources. This would have a more profound impact on Thienvanese society in the 18th and 19th centuries. In response to a heavy focus on modernization and industrialization the Quaymui Uprising would occur in 1883 as a reactionary movement against perceived submission to foreign global powers. The Quaymui Uprising and subsequent reactionary movements would be successfully quelled, leading to successful unhindered industrialization.

(strengths/weaknesses): I could see Thienvan being somewhat of a regional power; economically it is strong but there could be military limitations placed on it for balance reasons if need be. Weakness can be the need for import of needed resources such as oil, internal issues brought up over historically discriminated minority groups (especially in the more forested, rural regions)
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: I would reduce population first, I'd like to keep the GDPPC / HDI somewhat on the medium-high / higher side.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): During antiquity, Liiduria came into extensive contact with the Fiorentine Empire (or its replacement(s)) due to the notable presence of amber along its northern shores. This led to considerable cross-cultural contamination and early spread of Alydianism (or its replacement) to the area. For the most part, Liiduria persisted through most of the early middle ages as a group of disparate, feuding tribes — however, the combined threat of Rodavian expansion to the south and Aleian expansion in the west served as the impetus for the lowlanders (Madalikrahvas) and highlanders (Mägismaarahvas) to put aside their differences and temporarily unify in 1087. This later resulted in the creation of the Sadamic League in 1093, which grew to dominate much of Northern Asuran trade and became the dominant Liidurian polity; the earlier union between the highlanders and lowlanders in the remainder of the country soon broke apart.

(strengths/weaknesses): The new and improved Liiduria™ is intended to surpass its original role as a minor power and become a major player in the new Asuran liberal democratic order. Historical conflicts with neighbouring Rodavia would serve as conflict within the CPIS, while Liiduria’s continuing control of Anlaufhafen and its self-appointed role as the “policeman of the Gulf” would allow it to remain at odds with the Casia-Presavia axis in the south. Its primary weakness would be that it has a trade-oriented economy, which means that it is highly dependent on the flow of trade through the Strait of Edressder. It also has a relatively low population (compared to other players on the Asuran scene) but this is partially offset by its high focus on arms manufacturing.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): In 1925ish, the Casian Empire collapses, then Granica (historical Ahrland) is split between Casia and Presavia. Most of Granica goes to Presavia. Initially, the minority is marginalized. A few decades in, circumstances improve. There will be agitation and early unrest that is largely subdued. That could result in some deportations, not mass tho, mostly of suspected agitators and those with ties to them. Ethnic Presavians move in as well, make it messier. A few decades later, the Ahr Alemannians are given some special statuses. Perhaps some sort of devolution (I am thinking it is Chechnia style - aka absolute puppet governor in place). This works until like the 1980s? Presavia begins to want a tighter leash on Ahrland, the number of ethnic Alemmanians has steadily declined and Presvians are now a comfy like 30% of the pop or so (maybe more). Presavia and Casia also explore reunification around this time. That causes a lot of problems in Ahrland, ethnic separatists begin to agitate. A low intensity insurgency begins but it is mostly contained. CPIS is not pleased with this either and looks for ways to derail reunification. The Ahrland Insurgency can begin in the early/mid 90s, CPIS can intervene. This goes for about a year and a half or so, which eventually results in modern Ahrland coming under the jurisdication of the !United Nations. This causes a pretty significant political and economic seperation from Presavia. This all precedes the declaration of independence, which comes in the mid-2000s. Around the time Presavia and Casia look again towards potential reunification, Ahrland with tacit support from CPIS looks to derail that once again, so around 2005 it declares independence but Presavia is limited in what it can do as there are CPIS peacekeepers in Ahrland. Around 15 or so years after the DoI, Presavia and Casia are once again ready to seriously explore reunification. So this also sets up Ahrland, which is governed by libdems who are very pro-CPIS, and CPIS to try and derail it again.

Commonly seen as the "rebelious" lhedwinic nation. It sparked many separatists moventes during the UKL and even after it. Nowadays, it is a regional power with good influence in both Lhedwin and north Asura. On a general continental scope, Valmut tend to work together with the LC. The nations geography is rather tricky and hard, which limited most of the development to the southern region, and most of the country's economy depending on maritime business like fishing and shipping.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Initially inhabited by Hilyic (Finnic) peoples, as the Pergalean Empire comes to dominate mainland Western Asura, the Finnic tribes in the mainland part of Crylante, and to a lesser extent those in Nausikaa, fall under the sphere of influence of the Empire: while none of Crylante was officially part of the Empire, the tribes of mainland Crylante became foederati, with many serving in the Empire's army in exchange for subsidisation and trade with the Empire, and as cultural exchange happened between ex-soldiers that returned to the area and as many tribes granted the right to settle in their territory to Pergalean landowners, a common dialect of the Pergalean language made its way into significant portions of Crylante, albeit one that picked up Finnic influence as the early Finnish spoken in Nausikaa picked up Pergalean influences, laying the groundwork for the Lilledic culture.

Ultimately as the Pergalean Empire declined, the tribes broke free from the Foederati, but the clear Pergalean influence on their culture stayed strong as the language stayed prominent, usurping early Finnish in many places. However, the tribes would be challenged heavily in the 9th century as Nordic peoples from Valmut and Ackermark flooded into and invaded much of the territory, overthrowing the Hilyic-Lilledic tribes and establishing Nordic petty kingdoms in their place, spreading their religious beliefs to the region. Many of the newly-formed petty kingdoms on the eastern coast became involved in !Viking raids. The extent to which Hilyic-Lilledic culture was usurped by the Nordic culture varied: while in the eastern regions it was almost entirely usurped, it managed to survive in more western regions which saw less absolute domination, albeit taking on heavy influence from Nordic culture as the early Lilledic language took on a heavy Nordic influence and substrate.

In one of these western areas which saw less outright domination, the city of Sønderburg was founded in the early 9th century and quickly grew in influence, with the Duchy of Sønderburg forming around it as a petty kingdom and soon coming to dominate much of the western fringe of mainland Crylante through vassalage, conquest and regal election. As its power increased, it became the predominant power in modern Crylante, managing to establish control over the eastern, Nordic-dominated petty kingdoms through similar methods as their power declined, albeit failing to take control of some of the more northerly petty kingdoms. It would then consolidate its patchwork of territories into a feudal elective monarchy under the leadership of Duke Magnus I. Successive rulers would launch campaigns to take control of Nausikaa and the rest of the eastern fringes, and while these campaigns were largely initially successful, control over Nausikaa quickly receded to the Lilledic-built city of Neisinnet.

In the 14th century the throne of the Duchy would come to be occupied by the King of neighbouring Ackermark, establishing a personal union known as the Vinberg Union which came to be the dominant power over Lhedwin, as well as a significant power within Northern Asura at large, subjugating significant proportions of Valmut and Tavostia to its rule and launching a more successful invasion of Nausikaa, incorporating it officially with the rest of Crylante. However, over time, successive military defeats and tensions between Crylantian and Ackermarker nobles led to its decline, and as multiple conquests were receded the union collapsed as Crylantian nobles rejected the re-election of the dynasty, re-establishing a new Crylantian state controlling most of the mainland and the Neisinnet-adjacent areas of Nausikaa after significant conflict with Ackermark. The rest of Nausikaa makes up the Confederation of Särmäki, which is governed from the city of Isomuuri

The new Crylantian state would eventually come to establish itself as a hereditary monarchy power-sharing with a noble/burgher senate, and would see significant prosperity as the Sadamic League's holds in Nebligen and Sønderburg became its major Atlantic-facing ports, yet as the amount of profit Crylante saw from these decreased and a slew of bad harvests whipped up discontent, around the turn of the 19th century the nation became gripped by revolt which culminated in the brief declaration of a republic before said republic submits to the !Napoleon-esque figure that emerges nearby as the Lhedwinic Empire comes into being and soon after launches a successful invasion of Nausikaa. While initially the Empire is somewhat tolerant of the multi-ethnic nature of Lhedwin and recognises Lilledic and Nausikaan culture, increasingly during its existence the pan-Lhedwinic nationalism it advocates becomes increasingly centred on Nordic identity and eventually linguistic uniformity, which causes ire amongst many Lilledic and Nausikaan inhabitants.

When, in the early 20th century, the Lhedwinic Empire is significantly weakened by economic decline and loss in continental war, Lilledic and Nausikaan separatism takes off in both reformist and revolutionary forms, eventually leading to the breakoff of both Lilledel and Nausikaa as they unify into the newly-formed Republic of Crylante, an explicitly bilingual state, with its capital in Sønderburg. However, the predominately Nordic-speaking eastern areas, now known as Rigjord, remain part of the Lhedwinic Empire's Dano-Norwegian rump state before its further collapse soon after leads to these areas being incorporated into the republic. However, the Republic sees many problems as, despite the persistence of a pan-Crylantian nationalism opposed to Lhedwinic nationalism, significant pillarisation and polarisation between its three cultural communities remains rampant and politics becomes turbulent. This leads to the eventual restructuring into the modern-day Federation, with power sharing baked into the constitution, in the early 1940s at the hands of reformist socialist Gåje Settem, who serves as the first primus inter pares President of the Crylantian Federation as a member of the executive council.

Modern-day Crylante is a fairly small player on the international stage, yet marks a significant voice of dissent within the liberal democratic bloc as its pacifistic liberal internationalism conflicts with the more interventionist attitudes of the bloc as a whole, especially of interventions seeking to divide illiberal countries into ethnic-based states - it notably criticised the way the CPIS handled the breakup of the Polarchy. In terms of domestic politics, the power-sharing principles remain, with Settem's Socialist Party being the state's largest and governing in a power-sharing agreement with market-liberals, agrarian-conservatives and religious humanists, albeit this agreement has been criticised for many for leading to a bland, centrist consensus-based politics and as such many outfits criticising it from all sides of the spectrum have emerged. Economically the nation is structured as a decentralised social democracy with emphasis on services, luxury goods production and agriculture, and socially it has been noted for progressive attitudes towards gender equality and LGBT rights, yet tensions between the three communities remain strong, the nation has suffered from a chauvinistic, xenophobic approach to foreign immigration and religious influences remain strong in many spheres leading to some despair. If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Crylante's original form has often been criticised, rightly or wrongly, for being overly utopian, and part of that is arguably my fault for not displaying flaws relating to cultural pillarisation, domestic political dissent, problems with strong religious influence in certain areas and with chauvinistic and xenophobic attitudes to increased migration, which I intent to explore much further in the post-reboot iteration: one of the reasons I want to stick with the concept is specifically because of my self-perceived failure to properly address these flaws of a supposedly utopian society in its previous iteration. I would be open to making cuts to population, GDPpc, HDI etc, but worth noting the latter two have taken small cuts from its original form. If talking about its international role, as I mentioned I feel it is a small power which does not particularly need to be reduced further.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Phelakom is perhaps the greatest safe haven of the world. Located at the crossroads of !Africa and !South America, Phelakom has seen many peoples migrate to it over the ages. The original inhabitants of Phelakom were the Nuksiliku tribes. Today they are primarily found in the sparsely inhabited borderlands between the taiga and arctic. They used to live in better lands, but years of migration and their own nomadic lifestyle have led them to vacate the northlands for the remote southlands. Many herd deer and hunt seals as their ancestors once did. The next migrants to the region were the Dhaina. They came in long oceangoing canoes over the course of decades and quickly established several city-states on northern Indawo. At the time the Dhaina arrived in northern Indawo, the Nuksiliku were pushing into what is now Deor Mawr. The Dhaina city-states were thalassocratic in nature and lived fairly peacefully with the native Nuksiliku. The peaceful coexistence between these peoples came to an end when a wave of conquerors sailed from the northeast. Riding galleys instead of canoes, these coal-black men quickly overran the Dhaina. The conquerors were the Abinti and they established a kingdom over the Dhaina and brought in many of their own people. The Abinti Kingdom in turn faced invasion from their rivals in their homeland, the bronze-skinned Elikinte. The two races established several kingdoms that warred and fell. The Dhaina and Nuksiliku rebelled in the south and formed their own confederation. Over time borders began to solidify and war faded away to trade and cooperation. What was once intercine warfare became only the occasional war per generation.

For two hundred years this was the status quo. During this era massive migration from !Africa occurred bringing many Elikinte, Abinti, and a new group the Mentshn. The Mentshn established a few wealthy city-states that specialized in metalworking and trade. The peace was broken when yet another group, the Sympi, arrived and swiftly conquered several Abinti and Elikinte princedoms. The savage barbarity of the Sympi, and their far superior firearms compared to the native nations led to many defeats. Yet the pressures of these foreign invaders did force all the nations of Phelakom to work together to throw them out. After a decade of war, the Sympi were pushed back to their initial conquests and peace was declared. A new confederation was formed out of the war-forged alliance. Dhaina and Nuksiliku, Abinti and Elikinte, Sympi and Mentshn. All would get an equal say in the confederation that governed their realms. Over time the confederation coalesced into a republic, adding organs of state. Several rebellions occurred and were shattered in time. The far ranging colonies in Deoer Mawr were slowly brought back into the fold. For many years the vast fleet of the Phelakom guarded her shores with ships of wood and men of iron. It wasn't until the Continental War that the power of the Phelakom really broke. The rebellious factions used a new type of ironclad ship, supplied by the Camrians, that devastates the Phelakom Fleet. With Camrian support the rebels are able to launch several successful pushes into confederate territory. However, their small numbers soon led to them losing the ability to push deeper and they were routed in time. However the destruction of the Great Fleet by this new type of ship plus years of war in the heartland wrecked the economy and left the nation vulnerable to other powers. Camria claimed Deoer Mawr as their protectorate not long after, only returning it some 6 decades past.

After that, the country entered a decline from like 1840-1920. In 1920 a coup overthrew the Assembly and installed a Senate and Grand Council. The powers of the state were expanded and vast industrial reforms were made. The economy decline of the drop in value of naval stores was soon replaced with the boom caused by the discovery of REMs, Oil, Steel, Coal, and multiple other natural resources. Though many were hard to access, advances in technology have opened the country to greater expansion. Due to it's island nature, the country has long focused on its navy and its air force. The current state could be described as a dominant party democracy, as the Continenalist Coalition holds all the reigns of power. Ill add more and change shit when people start history building.

Geography and climate of nation: Predominantly oceanic climate, with some temparate rainforest in the west. The country is bounded by fierce mountains to the south, coastline to the north and west, and hilly lands to the east, which historically provided defensible boundaries. Much of the country's core is flat, with the exception of the rugged south and east. The middle inland is temperate and ideal for farmland, leading to the rise of large cities, particularly along the navigable major rivers.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Camria fits as major power in Asura, albeit perhaps somewhat eclipsed by Mirisia. Much like France to Germany, Camria is a strong regional player with a major world economy, although it can be argued it is past its heighday (the late modern period), but still retains a great degree of diplomatic sway, economic influence and ultimately prestige, while also being a major pillar of the !EU. Ultimately, much of its power is derived from the !EU, within which it commands great influence. Camria is a social market high income country, a major drawback of this is that it has a large government expenditure on welfare and high wages whcih make the country less competitive to foreign counterparts.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Though once a Jurenian city on the Strait of Edressder, Rudalis soon came under the influence of Sadamic merchants who utilised the city for trade into Leonica. Over time the merchant population pushed for much greater autonomy from the Jurenian crown which over-time saw the city drift away into the sphere of the League. After a brief war in the 11th century, the city was granted independence as the Free Sadamic City of Väravapea. The city remained within the league for many centuries acting as a gatekeeper on the Strait of Edressder instituting a toll against merchant ships passing through not belonging to the league and acting as one of the main ports of distribution for the League's goods from overseas. In 1639 with the vassalisation of the League, the city was officially annexed by Liiduria causing considerable controversy among the population of the city and the Jurenian Kingdom (and potentially leading to war). Despite this, the city would reach its zenith during the 18th century under Liidurian rule. Following the Great War the city was granted autonomy and its popular monarchy restored. Over time the city drifted towards greater independence and de-Liidurification though continues to maintain many economic and political ties such as a currency union. The city underwent a decline in the 1960s as trade across the Gulf of Leonica declined and the advent of container shipping led to widespread unemployment among dockworkers. Nevertheless, Rudalis found economic relief by establishing itself as a corporate tax haven through BEPS schemes which exploit the city's unique relationship with both Liiduria and the Asuran Community. Despite calls for re-unification with either Jurenia or Liiduria, Rudalians maintain a proud independent civic identity which balances the city's two main cultural influences.

Geography and climate of nation: Much of Rudalis is urbanised given that it is a city-state, however, it retains some rural farmland within its southern headland. Much of the territory is flatlands, though the terrain is more hilly in the southern headland. In terms of climate, Rudalis sits within the furthest northern reaches of the humid continental climate.

(strengths/weaknesses): Rudalis is a relatively insignificant nation, though is a point of tension for Jurenian-Liidurian interaction as well as for its status as a corporate tax haven. Whilst not a full member of the Asuran Community, Rudalis retains a number of economic, judicial, and political agreements with the bloc.

  • Culture: Considering its history, it is relatively hard to measure the percentage of foreigners among the current population. When we speak about ancestry, about 15 to 30% of the population claim to have at least some foreign ancestry, with the most common being Asuran and Cataian. Such a proportion is a result of waves of immigration, first from Asura in the 19th and early 20th century under the rule of the UKL, and later due to immigration from Southeast Catai into Melasia. The most common ancestries named are former Lhedwinian states from Asura (I can add others but I'll need to speak with the community) and countries like Tuchan and Kasiwanthay. The natives themselves are separated into numerous different subgroups. The biggest of them are Javan and Indonesian, which also have their own autonomous territories within the country. Other, smaller communities include Malaysian, Thai, and Melanesian cultures, however, they only get representation on a regional and national level via political parties, but have not received their autonomous regions like the first two. The country does not have a state religion, and has a fairly big number of people identifying as atheists compared to the regional average, at 15.6%. The two religions with most followers are Truathi (is subject to change depending on what Lhedwin players suggest) and whichever religion ends up being dominant in southeastern Catai and Savai.

  • Country Overview:
    It is confirmed that various tribes have moved from Catai into the Melasian archipelago as early as 2200 BCE. The first documented civilizations date from the 1800 BCE. As suggested by its geographical location, the islands of modern-day Melasia played a vital role in ancient and medieval naval trade between the east and the west. During the late middle ages it could have been conquered by its northern continental neighbours, and in general I imagine its medieval society being heavily influenced by the two nations to its north. Until the 19th century the area was never unified under one flag, with parts of the islands in strategic locations being owned by more powerful Cataian empires, with the rest of modern-day Melasia being divided among various feudals, tribal alliances and isolated communities.

    The lack of centralisation and the strategic location made the islands an important target for the colonial powers from Asura. While the general idea is that the land was unified under UKL flag in the early 19th century, various smaller forts, cities and colonies might have been present ever since the discovery of the islands (I am only for this development, but it heavily depends on the plans of the current colonial powers, if players are interested they are free to pace historic claims). The decentralised islands were an easy target for early 19th century UKL colonists. While some feudals tried to resist the Asuran colonisation, others backed the Asurans up. As a result, the UKL decided to keep the loyal feudals as regents: the colony was divided into numerous districts, and the loyal feudals were given the ability to form district militias out of natives, where low-rank command posts were once again given to natives. Districts altogether formed several administrative regions (which gave the country its current internal borders between various federal bodies), and the regions formed one entity, known as Lhedwinic Melasia? Savai? Southeastern Catai? (we need a cooler name than just Savai or Melasia, idk, just a thought). Local feudals could climb the bureaucratic ladder only as high as the district level, beyond which only Asurans could be given posts and titles.

    During the Great War, in order to help the UKL, Melasia, which had no more than 3-4% of Asuran population at the time, was forced to send citizens, including natives, to Asura. Exactly at this time would national identification rise the first tensions between colonizators and natives: native soldiers were often mistreated on the frontlines, and there was clear discrimination, however, due to the lack of Asuran commanders, and the conditions on the Asuran frontlines which often required quick unit formations, and the general unwill of UKL military officials to spend time and people on organising the arriving Melasians, there were numerous cases when significant army formations, including one division, were formed completely out of natives and under native command: Melasians were receiving medals and honour on par with Asurans for their actions in the war. The result of such a rise of national identity led to the first anti-colonist uprisings after the war. As a result, the Metropole was forced to create the first legislative body that would represent the natives: the Council of Lhedwinic Melasia was formed, which comprised of 50 seats, with 10 being given to representatives of native peoples. Soon, another reform was passed from the metropole that would lower the power of the colonial governor and pass it to the Council, on par with rising the number of seats in it. Reforms were made to centralise the state, remove the old colonial system and turn the state into unitary republic. In order to still have control, UKL decided to form a presidential republic, where the most power would be given to the president, ofc with him being under the control of the former metropole. As a result of these reforms, the colony was given increased autonomy from UKL, at least on paper. While the Council, which would be renamed Senate in the following years, served some major legislative functions and could be elected by some of the natives, with the new presidential system it lost the power it had once installed after the war. The president himself could only be elected by native Asurans and their families, people without confirmed Asuran ancestry could not vote on presidential elections. Pretty expected is that this system slowly became an authoritarian regime.


    In the 40s and 50s the country would explore the Melasian sea, finding one of the biggest oil reserves in Catai at the time, building an economy from the export of petroleum, in addition to the historical rubber that made the colony rich in the past. The authoritarian regime would fall after a revolution in the late 1960s, caused, above all, by a huge oil price drop and a financial crisis within the country that would leave its economy devastated (a bonus of a nature disaster is also an option, the country is located in seismically-active area), and another reform of the legislative bodies, and, above all, the Senate, which saw a drop of seats reserved for natives and some edits in the constitution of the country regarding who could vote on legislative elections. The resulted revolution would put a democratic government to power, transform the state to a federation, giving some ethnicities a degree of autonomy and rising the rights of natives to vote, on par with getting rid of the presidential system in favour of a new parliamentary one, and enormous economic reforms in the next 20 years would slowly turn Melasia into the regional power it is today.
  • Geography and climate of nation: Since the geography of the region is pretty much determined at this point, there is not much to say here: island chain situated on the equator, with an expected climate. Generally no high mountains. Landmass dominated by tropical jungles. Pretty diverse wildlife, with a lot of rare and endemic species.
  • Economy: The nation is planned as part of the libdem bloc, and will serve as balance the southeastern Catai. Melasian economy was historically built on the rich oil reserves in the Melasian sea to the north, and the various natural resources in the mainland. Since various economic reforms and a financial crisis in the 1960s and 1970s, the country slowly transitioned to a modern service-based economy, one of the strongest in the region. Currently, the country is an exporter of consumer electronics, has developed industrial sector, with main focus on heavy industry and industrial machinery, automotive industry, tourism, and natural resources export, mainly petroleum, rubber and palm oil. The country will serve as initiator of various economic alliances in the region and will generally try to create a sphere of economic influence, mostly visible in its labour outsource agreements with southeast Catai nations, and will engage in various regional forums and agreements, often acting as a forerunner. The country suffers from high income inequality compared to other libdem states. Melasia is still linked economically to its former Asuran colonizers.
  • Strengths and weaknesses: the strengths of the nation are obvious: a developed, stable economy and a free democratic government. Melasia is relatively rich on some important resources, most notably rubber. Another important strength is the geographical location, which gave the country the condition to develop as an important power. From weaknesses, I can name difficult terrain in the inland, huge diversity between ethnic groups in the country.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):Alucia was formed in the aftermath of the collapse of the Pergalean Empire, from which it originated. Having spent many decades in slow decline, the Arab War and subsequent invasion was the final nail in the coffin. Rapid expansion by the Arab invaders led to much of Alucia falling under Arab rule, with the next few centuries being spent keeping the native population under control, eventually leading to relative cultural assimilation between the two, with the two main religions resulting in being the two main identifiers of loyalty. The 16th century saw the nation reach the zenith of its power, before beginning a downwards spiral of discontent and becoming a pawn of the larger Asuran powers. This was compunded in the nation's defeat in the Great War, which lit the match of discontent between the Alydian and !Muslim populations, both blaming the other for their defeat, leading to a bitter 3 year civil war that ended with the overthrow of the long-lasting Emir and the establishment of the Confessional Republic. The 20th century saw the nation utilise its position to become a significant player in the world of international shipping and becoming economically successful, before joining the AC in the 1980s.

(strengths/weaknesses): Alucia often acts as second fiddle to the dominant power of Asura, supporting its decisions as a way to ensure Asuran unity in the face of international opposition, however Alucia being a racially mixed country has left it largely as a boogeyman by the more conservative nations, using any misfortune as a weapon to extol the dangers of multiculturalism, hence its exclusion fro the AC for several decades. Alucia's government is also slow compared to others, as an established Commission exists to ensure that passed legislation is not targetting one of the two religions unfairly, which quickly leads to it being accused as bias towards the other. This in turn has led to a wide range of religions being socially accepted and tolerated, but largely ignored by the government in favour of placating the larger two.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Cennara was a part of the Pergalean Empire and later other empires that developed in the South Asur region. It has been conquered routinely and integrated into various empires originating from neighboring regions. The first Cennaran entity was the Houna Sultanate, which spanned much of coastal Bahra and held territories in neighboring North Majula and Sifar. The Houna Sultanate is a modern name, while the contemporary name for the empire was the Sultanate of the !Arabs. Various successor sultanates existed in different capacities after its collapse. Its territories were also annexed by other empires in the region. Cennara was colonized by Miricia in the 1870s and came under majority Mirician control by the late 1880s. Several coastal cities and forts were held by Camria (and additional Asuran nations if desired) held a strip of coastal territory along the eastern coastline. It was given independence during the 20th century. For most of its history, Cennara remained economically backwards and development was concentrated in the main colonial cities. After a brief civil war in the 1960s between the central government and various tribal groups, the current monarch came to power. He has ruled since the 1960s and plays an important role in Cennaran politics and society. The monarch's powers were curbed in the 1980s and a more parliamentary system began to develop. Tensions with non-Arab groups continued and spiraled into insurgency starting in the early 2000s. A military coup against a reformist government in 2015 has elevated the power of the military. The government continues to fight insurgents, remains supportive and protective of the monarchy, and continues alignment with Miricia (Pending appropriate re-jigging to fit developing geopolitics, this is flexible).

Geography and climate of nation: The northern coastline has a standard Mediterranean climate. Rivers define much of the country, creating fertile regions along their banks. Most of the population resides on the northern coast or along the riverbanks. The inland regions in the east and west are defined by deserts. A large mountain range runs along much of the southern border. These areas are home to many of the African groups that live within Cennara.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Cennara is aligned with Miricia, though their ties had been slipping under the last democratic government which sought more favorable relations with competing powers. The 2015 coup saw a reversal of that policy and Cennara ended attempts to warm relations with Tuchan. Cennara also maintains favorable economic ties with additional Asuran nations. Separatist groups active in the south of the country provide opportunities for other nations to interfere with Cennara and to back rebels that oppose the Mirician-aligned, military government.

As a note, I am happy to change alignment and effectively reverse its geopolitical alignment. Whatever is deemed more interesting and better fits with the developing set-up.

Benefits from the Pontifical War ending with the unwritten rule that the Emperor has to be from a second-rate state from being the origin of several emperors, most notably the final one. Lenian independence is granted and guaranteed by the Statute of Senna dissolving the empire, as a compensation to the last emperor. Hopefully occupied during the "Great War", nowadays is a minor member of the Asuran Community.

The rest of the country outside the depression is mostly mountains. Temperate oceanic climate around the lake, humid continental climate in the mountain valleys, and polar climate in the mountains.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Historically often dominated by neighbouring powers, Nampukay developed its power along the Nampu river from which its name comes. With the advent of colonialisation, the Nampukayese kingdom was subjugated as a vassal of Camria. The colonisers suppressed local culture, in particular the local Zohist clergy who formed a key part of the local societal structures. The city of Mungkhang, already a major port city, became one of the largest and most important jewels of the empire's crwon. As anti-colonial uprisings began across catai, the Democratic Front of Nampukayese Peasants and Workers began to fight for a communalist and agrarian nationalist movement. To try stop this, Camria released the Kingdom of Nampukay in 1951 and backed up a western-friendly junta government. During a six year civil war, the DFNPK fought a guerilla uprising against the royalist government. Finding a strong support base in the rural peasantry, the DFNPK dropped their ideological goals of traditional communism in favour of a more religious and traditional communal state. By 1958, the royalist government's control was limited to Mungkhang and the surrounding environs, and on the 6th of June the city was finally taken by the revolutionaries. Since then, Nampukay has been a single party state with little interaction with the outside world. This lasted until 1998, when reforms were begun to try to open Nampukay up to the outside world in order to better develop living conditions. This led to Nampukay coming under economic domination from Tuchan.

Geography and climate of nation: The main island, Aonibike, is largely hilly and mountainous. The southern coast of the island has many sandy beaches, whilst the western coast has a shoreline with many mangrove forests. The north, meanwhile, is swampy with many lagoons. The majority of the population live by the coast in towns such as the capital, Nikutoru, as the island's interior consists mostly of hilly, dense tropical rainforests not entirely suitable for human habitation. There are several volcanic islands and islets that are part of the territory. The country has a hot, humid tropical climate.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Teinainano is a small nation in Savai that is marked with many problems such as inter-tribal violence and a multitude of environmental issues. This has the potential to allow for worldbuilding events with other nations in Savai as such things can be the concern of a Savaian regional organization with things like peacekeeping etc. Teinainano will be heavily invested in any regional organization in Savai too

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Taliana is a federalised parliamentary constitutional monarchy located in Northern Rennekka. Taliana was first settled by humans in around 10,000 BC, where migrants crossed into the modern-day country from a land bridge that existed at the time with Vestrim. This land bridge became submerged a few thousand years later, and the area developed a unique indigenous culture that split into many different clans, the most dominant being the Watani. The country was originally colonised by Camrians in the 18th century, and the area soon became a part of the larger Camrian Empire. Taliana became increasingly autonomous during the 19th century, however the territory was still considered a Camrian colony until the mid 20th century, where Camria agreed to withdraw from Taliana subject to numerous conditions, such as maintaining the Camrian monarchy and maintaining close ties with the Camrian government. As a result, the current federal system was initiated by the Talianan constitution, which set out that the country would be divided into states governed by a federal government that consisted of two houses of legislature, an executive branch headed by a Prime Minister and a Governor General that would act on behalf of the Camrian Monarch in signing legislation into law.

Geography and climate of nation: Despite being a large nation, Taliana's population is mostly confined to its northeastern core, near the capital of Wausen and other large cities. The rest of the country is generally considered sparse, with the south of the nation being confined to rainforest and monsoon-like regions which have little to no population density and a harsh, warm climate. The areas in the north, however, have similar tendencies to the south, although are more resemblent of savannah or even a semi-arid landscape in areas with less rainfall. The islands are somewhat populated, but are more akin to rural grassland farming communities and as a result are much less populated than the northern core.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Taliana is rich in natural resources and well developed, however is cut off from its cultural post-colonial allies in Asura geographically and as a result relies on culturally different nations for the majority of its trade. Despite having decent infrastructure, the size of Taliana and its barrenness make natural resources somewhat difficult to obtain.

And so from the ashes of the two nations, a new nation came to power. A nation where business ruled the government and the poor were left in the sewers to die.

Brief background of nation:
Initially a bunch of disorganized !Latvian tribes who were conquered by !Germanic crusaders from the south around the High Middle Ages. Although they converted, they revolted soon after under the leadership of what was effectively the local auxiliary branch of the crusaders, inspired by St. Aurelija of Tudone, who is considered the patron saint and founding mother of the country. These Knights of St. Aurelija lost their true military power by the end of the Middle Ages but remained a powerful organization and kingmaker in the region. By the Renaissance they had assembled into numerous city-states and principalities which feuded both individually and collectively with each other and surrounding powers, tied loosely together by the Sadamic League, they bristled under Liidurian and Tavostian influence, eventually uniting into a cohesive state to resist a foreign invasion in the 17th century and becoming a very minor colonial power known for its navigators and merchants. Post-18th century history is basically unwritten aside from a few republican revolutions and reforms.

In modern times the government is an elective federal semi-constitutional monarchy led by a Prince-Commander (elected from a among a number of noble families outlined in the original 17th century unification) who presides over an extremely devolved federal structure containing both republics and principalities. However, despite the Prince-Commander's sweeping powers in comparison to the other constitutional monarchies of Asura, he is greatly limited by the de facto authority of local democratic councils (called seimas) throughout the country which carry out the majority of governance. It possesses a highly developed service-manufacturing economy based primarily around tourism, shipbuilding, shipping, information technology, consulting, and petroleum, with prominent fishing, dairy, and defense industries as well. An unusual aspect of this economy is a very high land value tax (ranging from 50-90% depending on the locale) and the general lack of a conventional finance or real estate industry. Its military is small but well-equipped, possessing a small number of helicopter carriers that are geared around amphibious and air-assault operations, used to bring a hard-power element to its many otherwise soft-power foreign interests.

The country is historically extremely religious, having a national church which is steeped in a tradition of hermeticism and syncreticism. In modern times, a form of religious law mandating certain customs is still common throughout the country, although the government is quite secular in practice and this religious law has very little, if any, actual legal power. Conscription exists in the form of either military service or volunteer work. One of the most notable aspects of the political system is the Rose of Kresla, a special legal status which is conferred upon individuals, allowing them to hold positions in government above a state level. Roses are also a physical badge bestowed upon recipients. The Rose is conferred by the Adelaster House, an institution based in Kresla and answering to the legislature, composed of specialists and bureaucrats selected in various manners as to attempt to either prevent or else mitigate political bias. Individuals can request their own consideration or be recommended by any other citizen, and are evaluated based on a holistic analysis of a whole range of factors from educational and technical qualifications, to military/civil service, to character references, and so on. A Rose lasts for life, but can be revoked by the Adelaster House upon learning of certain "shameful or unsatisfactory behaviors", such as corruption, adultery, intolerance, or illegal drug use, although it can be reacquired at a later point.

Geography and climate of nation:
Occupies a strategic position between the Lhedwinic Channel, Northern Sea, and Strait of Edressder, although much of that strategic coastline is subarctic and thus sparsely inhabited, as is the northern third of the country in general. The population is heavily urbanized along the eastern and southwestern coasts, while the interior is primarily rural with few major population centers. All of these locations possess comparatively temperate oceanic and humid continental climates. The coastline is generally quite rocky with hundreds of small islands and even more smaller islets, particularly in the Lhedwinic Channel. Terrain is quite hilly and craggy in the west and south, gradually flattening towards the west coast and turning into rocky taiga in the north.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure?:
A middle power that focuses on diplomatic channels, but also utilizes a small, yet potent, navy and flexible army to support a Great Power. They'll likely seek to sit in the pocket of a major player in the Asuran Council and try to use their own soft power and support of that nation as a means of nudging member states into supporting ideologically-charged aid programs and "just wars" abroad. Independent foreign adventures using "volunteers" and NGOs to influence nations abroad aren't out of the question.

Make it less militant; reduce the GDP per capita and HDI; turn it into a less developed economy, based on Eastern European agricultural-manufacturing economies instead of a Northern European service-manufacturing economy.

Note; Recognised ethnic groups are given their own legislative powers and autonomous regions, while unrecognised ones are not given that.
  • Mebou (Songhai) - Mebou is the largest ethnic group in Rutenga, comprising roughly 40% of the population. They dominate the north of the nation, as well as the capital city. They are a very religiously diverse ethnicity; In the Northwest they follow the Arabekhi Islam-esque religion, while in the East, Zohism would be more common. And of course, as a result of colonialism, Alydianist communities would be scattered across Rutenga, especially in urban centers, thus many Mebou in the capital city or other urbanised areas may very well follow Alydianism as well.
  • Agko (Chadic) - There would be a small minority of nomadic Agko groups around the Northwest border. These people would be nearly homogenous followers of !Islam. They would likely face a level of discrimination by Rutengan society as a whole, and efforts would be made to keep them out of their historical nomadic areas, being labelled foreigners.
  • Irneku (Kanuri) - The Irneku minority would be small, and centered around the large lake in the north, however, unlike Chadic, they would be a recognised group with their own province(s) and devolved powers. They would be followers, primarily, of Alydianism, and inhabit both their native provinces, as well as comprising a significant minority in the capital city.
  • Ubar (Benue-Congo) - The Ubar are one of multiple Benue-Congo minorities. The majority of Benue-Congo people in the world live in Rutenga, and the Ubar are the largest group of Benue-Congo peoples living in Rutenga. They would largely be split between Zohism and indigenous beliefs, while perhaps small numbers could be followers of Obia, due to close proximity to Bantu groups related to much of Odo's population. The Ubar are a recognised ethnic group.
  • Dige (Benue-Congo) - Dige would be the other large Benue-Congo minority in Rutenga. Unlike the Ubar, however, they are not followers of Zohism; They would almost entirely be followers of indigenous beliefs, as their place deep in the rainforest has made conversion attempts rare and unfruitful. However, despite this, some Dige people would be followers of a heavily syncretisised version of Alydianism. They would be a recognised ethnic group.
  • Xuddoaga (Adamawa-Ubangi) - The Xuddoaga people would be the primary Adamawa-Ubangi people group in Rutenga. They are faithful followers of Zohism, and they live on the cusp between the rainforests in the south, and the savannahs in the north. They are a recognised ethnic group.
  • Dintu (Central Bantu) - The Dintu people would be the second largest ethnic group in Rutenga, comprising much of the southern part of Rutenga. Unlike the rest of Rutenga, they write their language using the Vai Script, native to Odo. They are largely followers of Obia, with some smaller numbers following Zohism.

    Note that this isn't all the ethnic groups I plan to have in Rutenga - Rutenga will be an incredibly diverse nation, however, these will be the largest and most important ethnic groups. The reason I have not included a Bantoid ethnic group in this listing is that they are very small - and I imagine they are, perhaps, the least developed of them all, to the point where uncontacted tribes exist in Rutenga.
Language(s): The native languages of the Mebou, Xuddoaga and Dintu peoples would be the primary spoken languages of Rutenga. There would be many official languages, as the languages of each recognised ethnic group would have official status. As a result of colonialism, and as a result of the incredibly diverse languages, Brithenig would be a lingua franca for Federal administrative uses and would retain official status as well.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):
The area that Rutenga now lies in was originally inhabited by hundreds of different tribes, all different. Fighting and trading were common among the tribes, but for most of human history, there was no unifying state of Rutenga. Instead, Rutenga has always been tribes, small towns, and the occasional Kingdom based around a small city. Kingdoms, tribes, and towns would not only trade within themselves, but were in many cases deeply interconnected with the !Transaharan Trade, thus trading with both the Wangara League, as well as Arabekh.

This trade lead to the first great Kingdom - the Kingdom of Mebou, in 1188, which sought to unify the widespread Mebou people of the North. It largely achieved that goal, as well as conquering some of the Kanuri Peoples - thus pushing their ethnic boundaries back and expanding the influence of the Mebou. The Kingdom of Mebou would remain around in one form or another until the early 15th Century - playing its own part in the First Majulan Radiance. The City of N'geza was founded under the Kingdom of Mebou, in the 13th Century.

By the time of the Second Majulan Radiance, Rutenga had once again returned to a relatively splintered state, but one that was much more peaceful than before - though not without conflict. Small kingdoms and chiefdoms dotted the Southern landscape, but none grew to dominate a large swathe of Rutenga as the Mebou Kingdom once did. The north, however, came under the control of the Aghiri Empire, as the Mebou Territory. N'geza experienced growth during this time as a hub for Central Majulan Trade.

With the eventual collapse of the Aghiri Empire, Rutenga slowly but surely came under the control of the Camrian South Majula Company - introducing Brithenig and Alydianism. Rutenga was split into two sub-territories, Mebouland and Dintuland, whos borders would one day come to form the borders of modern day Rutenga. A century later, following the lead of the rebelling Southerners, the Mebou royalty who still remained stirred up a rebellion against their Camrian rulers - taking the Mebouland Province, and convincing the royalty of Dintuland to allow them to enter, thus unifying the two territories into one state. Upon seizure of the two territories, the Kingdom of Mebouland and Dintuland was declared, with two monarchs reigning over their respective territories.

In the 1960s, as Umunna begins to take hold in the large bordering country of Odo, Rutengan people began organising - unionising, protesting, as they're inspired by the actions to their Southwest. Rutenga eventually enters into a horrible, bloody civil conflict, with dozens of groups fighting for control, independence, and power; the conflict lasts roughly from 1965 to 1973. Beginning in 1971, Odo begins intervening to bring an end to the Rutengan Civil War - throwing their weight behing the People's Revolutionary Liberation Front, who, with Odo support, are able to capture N'geza from Warlords, and slowly but surely establish their control over Rutenga's borders.

In 1973, as the war dies down, a new Constitution is drafted; Two Legislatures will represent the different facets of Rutengan society. The National Assembly, a partisan legislature elected via Proportional Voting; and the Council of Rutenga, a non-partisan legislature in which the recognised ethnicities of Rutenga elect representatives to represent their interests in this Chamber.

The new constituion also establish Umunna as a guiding philosophy and ideology for Rutenga; separate elections for each of the seats, with term limits of six years; as well as the Presidency, which is nominated by the National Assembly, and must be approved by the Council of Rutenga, and is voted in or out every six years after Legislative elections.

"Autonomous Regions" are established; more of Rutenga is under the control of Autonomous Regions than not, and Autonomous Regions are set aside for governance by the indigenous ethnic groups of the area. Finally, the requirement of unions is set in the constitution - that any workplace with a workforce greater than 12 people, must have a union, not influenced by the employer or manager, that works to represent its people.

Geography and climate of nation: As per the regional climate map, the Sorth of Rutenga would be dominated by a dry-wet Savannah; transitioning down to a tropical rainforest in the South.

(strengths/weaknesses): Rutenga exists as a nation comfortably in Odo's sphere of influence; the two nations exist as quite close allies, and their foreign policy nearly always aligns. This may alienate it from relations with nations, at times.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):
The Republic of Azuria is a democratic, parliamentary republic located in Western Catai. The country itself is known as one of the oldest countries with one of the oldest cultures in the world having a history which goes back all the way to antiquity.

End of the Second Millenium BCE - 630 BCE
In ancient times, the Azurians first settled in the fertile valleys of the Ishtar river. The first kingdoms and city states that were formed by the Azuran tribes were short lived due to the constant fighting between them, and soon Azurian fell under the dominance of their TBA Empire. Under Adurnarseh, the Azurian tribes rebelled in an alliance, and freed themselves from foreign rule. Adurnarseh became the first king of the unified tribes and thus was born the firs Azurian state, better known as the Kingdom of the Ishtar valley. The process of unification was slow, the king wasn't recognised by all as a sovereign. So began the series of conflicts known as the Azurian wars which led to the stabilization and complete unification of the newly founded kingdom.

630 BCE - 600 BCE
During the reign of Haxamanish the Wise, who was the great great grandchild of Adurnarseh I, the Unifier, the Ishtar Valley Kingdom did not expand much. Instead Haxamanish's rule was remembered not for conquests but for his reforms. Haxamanish understood that his expanding kingdom, in order to survive, needed laws and a precise hierarchical structure of the system of the kingdom. He wrote the first Azurian codex, founded The Assembly of the Elders (Bzrguan), a body comprised of war veterans, scholars, geographers, diplomats, religious figures, and elders, as a group of advisors which would help him strengthen his rule and expand the empire in the future. Apart from that he also started the reform of the army. Unfortunately Haxamanish fell ill and died at a young age, never finishing. Nevertheless, his reforms were continued by the Assembly of the Elders, which ruled in the name of his son who was too young. This period is known as Bzrguan shkewfh, or the Bzrguan blooming. The Assembly, took most of the power and continued to rule the country even after the king was capable of handling affairs of his own. Fearing that the legacy of his father might be destroyed, the Elders controlled the king, others started seeking their own benefits.

600 BCE - 400 BCE
For the next two centuries the power of Ishtar kings was limited and the country was ruled by the elders. This period is nowadays called the Azuran proto-republic. The Ishtar Valley state expanded, and became a dominant power in the region expanding its influence rapidly. The Assembly grew, from an unofficial body of advisors made by Haxamanish the Wise, to an institution at times more respected that the kings themselves. The rule of Adurnarseh III was a period of internal conflict. The young king wanted to reclaim the power his ancestors and so he rebelled. The Adurnarseh rebellion was quickly crushed and the position of king was abolished in the favour of the head of the Assembly, Husraw. Husraw reformed the assembly and made it into a body elected by the nobles and influential families. After his death his position was continued to be called the Husraw in his honour.

400 BCE - 121 BCE
The perion of Husrawdom itself was marked with new administration changes, the division of the country into 'lands' controlled by emissaries of the Assembly and the Hursaws, who were responsible for leading the regional administration, appointment of and organisation of courts, collection of taxes etc. Along with them a military governor was present whose responsibility was maintaining and commanding garrisoned forces and the recruitment of soldiers for the Husrawite armies. The nature of this rule later led to the Azuran civil wars.

121 BCE - 118 BCE (civil war); 118 BCE - 76 BCE (reconquering period)
Due to disputes and power struggles within the Assembly, it disintegrated with many proclaiming themselves Husraws. Another factor was the appearance of Arshanism. Arshanism was a small cult which gained a great following within country. The factors which pushed Azurans into was was not just political but also religious, where some adhered to the Old Pagan faith while others flocked to Arsshanism. The Ishtar valley state disintegrated into 6 different states claiming to be the legitimate ones. Arshanism itself started to expand rapidly among Azurans, mostly because it was a different interpretation of the Pagan faith of Azurans and due to the fact that the priests of the old religion became corrupted. One of the leaders of the warring factions was Chosores the Pious. He himself was a general in the army and a converted Ashanist. Seeing the rapid spread of the new faith, he quickly proclaimed himself the protector of all "True believers" which made may flock to his side and starting a crusade like war, ultimately ending in his victory over the other factions. The Arshanist Empire of Azuria was formed, and it quickly went back to reconquering the territories lost in the civil wars. This reconquering period lasted for a long time as the land was devastated by the civil war, and it outlived Chosores.

76 BCE - 4th century CE
During this period the Azurian Empire turned towards maintaining its own borders, conversion of its population to Arshanism and expanding its trading influence. As a bridge between East and the West, Azurian Kings had a relatively stable flow of money throughout their lands, making their country not only stable but rich. This is known as the The rule of Golden Emperors due to the golden jewelry they wore, though this period was overshadowed by a series of religions wars directed at stopping the spread of Zohism coming from the east.

Medieval ages and the fall and rise of the Azurian Empire
By the start of the medieval times the Azurian Empire started looking westwards and started a series of incursions towards the West, bringing them in contact with Leonics and Sayamians (possible wars with them). The stagnation of the country and the continuous wars in the East led to the collapse of the Empire and the spread of Zohism. The cultural influence of Zohism led to the spread of Tuchanese and the change of the old Azurian script in favour of the Tuchanese one. Due to the resurgence of the Azurian national identity, Zohism never completely took hold of the country, but remained a dominant religion in the east. This religious divide brought also a division within the nation. When finally freed from Zohist rule, the Azurians reestablished their empire, but only in the west while the east remained firmly under the control of Zohism. Later on, the east itself became an independent but rival state. Both were attacked by the migrating Shaquyar and Karadag tribes which afterwards settled in the northwest of modern day Azuria, forming briefly their own states until being conquered by the Arshanist Empire. The Empire mostly was at war with its eastern Zohist counterpart for most of the medieval times, finally reconquering it by the end of the 13th century. Unfortunately, not all of the Zohist East was reconquered as large parts fell under the influence of the TBA kingdom/empire, and were never reclaimed.

Early Modern Period
By the early 1500s Azuran Emperors started a series of reforms mainly centered on culture. The Arshanist Emperors ruled over a country with a majority of Zohists which threatened their rule, along with that Tuchanese Azurian dialect was becoming much more dominant. Because of this the Emperors ordered the formation of a new alphabet for the Azurian language based on the old one from the ancient times. The Pharnabazos alphabet was created in 1521, named after the Emperor Pharnabazos V who himself was involved with the creation of the script. His rule was marked by systematic repression of the Tuchanese influence. He successfully created a rift between Zohists by supporting a sect of Zohism which was mainly practiced by Zohist Azurans. This resulted in the conflicts amongs Zohists in Azuria which led to the eventual expulsion of Tuchanese settlers as well as the complete reassertion of Azurian identity. Over the course of years his heirs continued the process of Arhsanisation which returned the status of majority to the Arshanist population. This of course cause turmoil and tensions withing the Empire, as well as a few rebellions made by Zohists. Interestingly enough, other religions, such as those of the Shahquyar and Karadagians were tolerated. The reign of Oxyathres II was marked with the end of civil strife. He introduce religious tolerance, dropped Arshanism as the official religion and allowed Zohists practice their religion, participate in political affairs and serve in the Imperial Army. Some of the greatest generals and diplomats of his grandson Oxyathres III and his great grandson Pharnabazos VII were in fact Zohists. These reforms practically ended the period of the Arshanist Empire and moved Azura towards reconciliation and prosperity. The 18th century has seen Azuria fight yet again to reclaim its eastern lands as well as several expeditions to its northern territories. There were some attempts to establish colonies in Arrabekh but most failed. Only by the end of the 18th century has Azuria established a stable colony, which was later lost in a war with TBA.

20th century
The Azurian Empire entered the 1900s as a defeated empire, crippled by its opponents, humiliated and had a failing economy. Political elites demanded reform of the imperial system, political clubs were formed. The first ones were formed by liberals and socialists both of which wanted more political freedom. The political situation only worsened, and culminated with the Red Rebellion in Shhrsvad, the capital itself. This brought the country on the brink of civil war. Emperor Oxyathres V abdicated in favour of his son Orasmyn II who immediately allowed the forming of the first national assembly and the writing of the first constitution. A new political force emerged, the Imperialist Party which was formed by the loyalists of Oxzathres V, and who opposed the new liberal reforms. The power struggle only worsened by the years, with the forming of the pro-Zohist parties and pro-Arhsanist parties as well as minority parties. The liberal reforms only calmed the nation briefly, but by 1930s there were paramilitary units of political parties brawling in the streets, strikes and asassination attempts at government officials. The country was again on the brink of civil war. Led by general Feraydoon Kadivar, a group of millitary officers made a coup on the eve of the 21st February 1929. They arrested the Emperor and made him abdicate in favour of his ten year old son. This outraged many, liberals, socialists, separatists and zohists. The Azurian civil war started with the proclamation of the Azurian Federated Peoples Republic, on March 3rd. The joint declaration was signed by all the opponents of the new regime. The war itself lasted for three years and was won by the putschist forces. From 1929 until 1951, general Feraydoon Kadivar ruled Azuria with an iron fist, proclaiming himself as regent. With his sudden death in 1951, the son of Orasmyn II, Oxzathres VI was proclaimed Emperor. He continued to rule the country with an iron fist but was not tyriannical as general Kadivar. Political opponents were released yet they were still closely monitored. The rule of the young Emperor is remembered as a benevolent one with Azurian economy booming and people living in relative prosperity. He was succeeded in 1979 by Orasmyn III who sought to surpass his fathers legacy. He was the last emperor to rule Azuria. In 1985 an economic crisis hit Azuria with hundreds of thousands loosing their job. Strikes sparked across the country again. In a vain attempt to hide this new situation, Orasmyn III declared war on Azura's eastern neighbour TBA in 1992, proclaiming the second reconquering of the lost territories. This sparked massive outrage in the Zohist community and thousands deserted the army. The war ended in a stalemate and a peace treaty was signed quickly enough before the Azurian army collapsed completely due to mass desertions which were attributed to massive losses ensured by Orasmyn's commanding skills as he himself commanded the army contrary to the advice of his military staff. Facing massive protests and a new civil war looming, Orasmyn III abdicated and left the country. On June 22nd 1994, on the day of the abdication of the Emperor, the Republic of Azuria was proclaimed.

Today, Azuria has again a stable economy, it has recovered from the economic crash it had, but religious, ethnic and political tensions are still very high. The country is home to three bitter rival parties, the pro-Zohist party, the colaition of leftist parties and the Nationalist party. Along with that separatist parties are present. The current ruling liberal party has barely succeeded in forming a government making a coalition with separatist parties of the northwest and with some conservative and social democratic parties. Only one seat is making a difference.

(strengths/weaknesses): The country itself is developed, with a strong industry, the oil one in particular which is the main bulwark of the economy. The country is influential in the region. However, due to the political situation the country is divided and very unstable even with a good standard of living. Protests are very common and strikes too sometimes. From the outside the country may look as an economical, diplomatic and a military force, but on the inside it is as fragile as and elephant on glass legs.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: I'd reduce the economic, diplomatic and the military influence/strength I guess

Brief background of nation:
After the Pergeleans abandoned Northern Asura, a vast power vacuum emerged, from which rose several petty kingdoms that had major influence over regional affairs. As consolidation of a national identity became more and more common, in 786 CE, King Aldrich, derived from the house of Helecroft, had negotiated and signed diplomatic armistices, which designated much of the now-modern state to him. He would become the first King of Wescaster, as well as being head of an identity that lasts until the present day. The country would then go a period of modernisation in the early 15th century, under the reign of Eustace the Great. Small colonies had been set up during this period, yet they were very unsuccessful. By the mid 18th century, the beginning of the Industrial Revolution had set Wescaster on the international stage at the time, as immigration from various parts of Asura would be at its highest point. Wescaster was considered a regional, secondary power. During the Great War, the currently pacifist government had instituted a strict policy of neutrality, and Wescaster had become less and less expansionist with the turn of the century.
Nowadays, Wescaster is a fledgling monarchy, and a major participant in international events, and close ties with other nations had internally strengthened the Government. A active, laissez-faire capitalist nation, it is both ethnically and politically diverse, with several parties that have debated and interacted with the socio-economic sphere.
