The Union of Montana Cambi-Tlaxcala and Paislydio is a state in south western Rennekka. It’s history begins with Tlaxcalan peoples. This civilisation remains mysterious to modern historians but it is believed to have ruled over almost all of modern Paislydio and there are traces of them in other areas of the continent. The first Asuran expedition into the area was conducted by the Newreyan Sir Percival Lancaster in 1513, but no land was claimed. The Midrasian controlled island of Sant Amate was settled by Orthodox Veleazan Alydians persecuted in Veleaz in the 1580s. At the time Rennekka was being extensively settled by Veleazans, and in 1602 a trade dispute led the Veleazan Navy to blockade and attack St. Amate. Midrasia surrendered the island, and Veleaz was quick to establish a colony. Although the Orthodox Veleazans and some Midrasians were tolerated for some time, the Cuirpthean Army expelled them following an attempted rising in 1604. From here the 20,000+ settlers fled the island for mainland Rennekka. They decided to refrain from living under either Midrasian or Veleazan governments, subsequently creating their own state while they moved far inland to the unexplored central lands.

The settlers got on well with the first nativos they encountered, and trade relations were established. The settlers elected a man by the name of Alfredo Gustavara as their first Lider de la Gente (leader of the people.) The settlers named the lands El Propio Pais de Alydian, literally “Alydian’s own country”, but it gradually shortened to simply “Pais de Alydian”. Lider Gustavara oversaw the expansion of the settlement and good relations with natives. An attempt by Veleazan soldiers to take the growing semi-nation in 1610 failed and cultimated in the First Veleazan-Tlaxcalan War between 1610 and 1612. Rebellious elements of the Viceroyalty to the north began supplying the people of Pais de Alydian with guns and building supplies, prompting a shift to more modern architecture by 1620. In 1621, Gustavara signed the treaty of Ciudad Maria (Ciudad Maria being the main settlement of the state) with Tlaxcalan Emperor Teotezultan to officially create the Empire vassal nation of Iztac Tlali, although all the citizens of Iztac Tlalli continued to the call the area Pais de Alydian, or sometimes, Paisalydian. This name was first used in a document on the Treaty in 1621. Gustavara became a hero of the people and was hailed leader until his death of malaria in 1630. There was much mourning even among natives. Ciudad Maria was renamed Gustavara in 1631 by the new Lider, the only plantation owner in Paisalydian, John Cambi. Cambi facilitated the first slave shipments into the area, doing
Business with Midrasians sailing through the Rennekkan Channel. Cambi was seen as a businessman rather than a leader, and he gradually undid the native relations formed by Gustavara, sparking the First Treaty War with the empire following his “declaration of independence” in 1634. The war was a success but Cambi became very unpopular. A revolution against him occurred in March 1635, and the twenty year peace in the area came to an abrupt end.

Cambi fled to the Viceroyalty where he tried to gain support for a war in the south. He promised Veleaz that the lands were in fact prosperous, and that the existing settlements had successfully cultivated rich lands for planting. The Veleazan government pledged guns and supplies to Cambi who then bought and promised freed to around 1200 slaves throughout the year, on the condition that they fought for him first. He also hired 500 trained colonial mercenaries to train the Ejercito Negro as the slave troops came to be known. In September, by time of which Paisalydian had reorganised under a democratic government, Cambi led his invasion, taking Gustavara by December. Many battles were fought with the colonial militias but by February Cambi once again controlled Paislydian. From here, he decided to instead of establishing a new regime, set out to conquer the entire Tlaxcalan Empire, which had been cracking in recent years. For this Cambi secures the support of Viceroyalty soldiers and by 1638 had completely defeated the empire. Subsequently, the area was split in two and absorbed into Veleaz as the autonomous Captaincy-General of Montana de Cambi, and the Viceroyal Territory of Pais de Alydian. It remained this way until a bloody war in the Viceroyalty.

Under Cambi’s control, the Captaincy-General established many plantations and mines to suck out the resources. Cambi did indeed free his Ejercito Negro and used them a force to terrorise nativos that would not cooperate with his plutocratic policies. He refrained from using black slaves in fear the Ejercito Negro might turn on him, instead enslaving whole villages of natives and selling some of them around the world for a personal profit. Veleaz decided that the terrible conditions under Cambi could lead to a rebellion of nativos, and in 1647 dismissed Cambi. At first he was outraged but he was promised a noble title back in his homeland. He was made Marquis of (Veleazan area) and became Marquis Cambi. He enjoyed a life of luxury but saw an opportunity to make even more money when a war rose up in the Viceroyalty in the (1660s?). He went to sell guns and supplies to both sides but was eventually exposed for this, and his own soldiers murdered him in 1668.

The period between 1670 and 1700 are poorly documented in Paisalydian. Many statements from the time indicate nativos retook control but documents from the Viceroyalty say that the area became a stronghold for Veleazan control. Both options explain the invasion by New Veleaz in 1703. The area was captured and later became part of the Confederation. The poverty and ruin of the confederation prompted the Montana de Cambi region to secede in 1734. Various wars were fought in the region as its economy slowly declined. Famine and other problems broke out and a widespread anti-Confederation sentiment. When in the 1780s the Confederation fell, Montana de Cambi was barely under its control. Montana de Cambi became a republic in 1788, and proceeded to invade Pais Alydian and the remaining Tlaxcalan lands. It was around this time that Martin Merriman, a Newreyan priest turned explorer arrived in Montana de Cambi. He became famous as a preacher and businessman, ending slavery on his banana plantation and establishing paid, voluntary work. During this time he preached Altdianism peacefully to the Tlaxcalan people, and was a key figure in the founding of the Church of Pais Alydian in 1791. Merriman became known as “Santa Martin de Dorado”, or Saint Martin the Golden. He was called this for his “golden heart”, and became he most famous man in the republic for his ideas. He was elected President in 1794 but tragically died from an assassin’s bullet on December 19th 1794. What became known as the Black Christmas occurred, where mourning replaces celebration on the 25th.

Montana de Cambi established a revolutionary economic system based of the plantation of Merriman. This created an economy in which workers were paid for services and slavery was effectively abolished in most of the country. Due to the rather large difference between the new system and John Cambi, the republic was renamed the Federative Republic of Pais Alydio in 1803. the nation prospered until a violent series of famines and storms struck the country in 1811. The economy crashed and in order to maintain feasible finances the government re introduced slavery and was quick to dismantle the Merriman system in order to save the country. Pais Alydio fractured into small states which warred and ultimately collapsed through the course of the 1810s. In 1819, a young Domingo Luiso, who was actually the great great great grand nephew of John Cambi himself, rose to power in the country of Costa Coca. The small and barely functioning nation soon created an organised military using Negros under the command of Luiso. He declared himself Caudillo of Costa Coca and proceeded to invade the many other neighbouring states, including Gran Montana, Illanur, Merriman and the 2nd Tlaxcalan “Empire”. By 1824 most of modern San Martin was under Luiso’s control. He declared the Empire of Tierra Luiso, and styled himself Emperor. At first his rule was prosperous but his narcissism got in the way of his policies, and he disbanded parliament and wiped out his opposition in 1827. His unpopularity among powerful figures in the Empire led to a Salinas backed coup against him in early 1828, in which the Emperor was executed. The entire country was swallowed piece by piece by The Confederation by 1840.

As signs of the Confederation coming to an end in the 1890s became obvious, the inhabitants of the Costa Coca and Tlaxcala Proper began rooting for independence from the government far north. The Provincial Government of Montana Cambi failed to contain the protesters and revolts and in 1894 the Republic of the Tlaxcala Coast. The loss of this hugely beneficial economic region contributed to the ultimate downfall of the Second Confederation in 1897. The provinces of Montana Cambi and Paislydio separately declared independence and then went to war on separate sides of the Great War, with the Kingdom of Paislydio siding with the Concordat; the United Provinces of Montana Cambi fighting with the Grand Alliance. The large presence of Midrasians in Paislydio resulted in the 1899 Revolution in Paislydio; the country had been winning a costly war against Montana Cambi, however Mydros rose up against the Royalists in June 1899 and toppled the King, prompting peace between the two states. By conditions of the Millennial Treaty the nation of Paislydio would cease to exist and be absorbed into Montana Cambi; the federal republic style of the United Provinces was adopted across the nation now called the United Federacy of Montana Cambi and Paislydio. Tlaxcala Coast experienced serious economic problems and in 1902 the government collapsed and for the first time in history, an organized nation encompassing all of modern San Martin would be born.

A Republican government in the style of Montana de Cambi would then be set up; The First Federative Republic of San Martin. The Republic experienced many economic problems and buckled under enormous war debts and continuing rivalry between Paislydians and Montanos. Meanwhile Tlaxcalan natives would begin the nation's politics to send their message. Thus the Native Rights Movement would be born. At the time Natives with at least one full Veleazo grandparent would be allowed to run for the office of Representative only. No person with native blood could vote, directly own land, or run for positions like Governor, Mayor, Municipal Councilor, and President. Much racial controversy plagued the "Dark Decade", 1906-1916. In these ten years the office of President was held by 14 different people. There was no confidence in the government and numerous coups took place; by 1915 the people were considerably fed up with the weak and cracking governments. Socialism was festering, and many were concerned that the Reds would lead the revolution against the Republic. In response to this people began turning to a man called Iturbide Altiqo. Altiqo was a former Representative and demagogue who claimed to be a descendant of Domingo Luiso. This was never proven. He often broadcasted messages of ultranationalism, a fierce stance against Antoni, Panjero, Vidoria, and Sierra Plata, a stance against negros and nativos, a stance against socialism, a stance against Asura, and more proto-Fascistic views. Altiqo attempted to run for President in 1916, but his arrest was ordered by the current government. This prompted protests and soon riots, and Altiqo was broken out of imprisonment. He then proceeded to lead a popular revolution against the government. It took little time for the government to capitulate and Altiqo declared himself President and set about forming a new government.

Altiqo was expected to form a powerful dictatorship and re-invigorate the country, which, for a brief time, he did. On January 18th 1917 Altiqo signed an act declaring the Grand Provinces of Montana-Tlaxcala and Paislydio. Altiqo was a Paislydian who had fought on the Royal side of the Great War and he began discriminating on a national level against Montanos. His support slowly dwindled as he enforced policies stripping Montanos and Nativos of their rights one by one. He enjoyed great support in Paislydio, particularly under former members of the "Nobility" of 1895-1899, who had primarily been planters and businessmen. Under pressure from them he passed an act completely banning elections in July 1918. This brought an end to the brief democracy of San Martin. This prompted further frustration, especially among Tlaxcalans who were effectively back to slavery along with Negros. The Tlaxcalan Rebellion of 1918-1919 was costly to Altiqo's Provinces and left him with a depleted military and large debt to Montano business. With this Altiqo was recorded to have lost his stability, and on March 15th 1919 declared the Second Empire of San Martin. This empire was, in its first few months, already a disaster. Altiqo attempted to fund a company which would take on board government debt in exchange for shares but it collapsed, leaving the financial situation even worse. He have huge grants to Paislydian businessman and disregarded infrastructure or the economy as he waged local wars against rebels and secessionists. Promptly his regime began to buckle and the country was invaded by Panjero after Emperor Iturbide personally ordered a nationwide "Genocide of the Northerners", which involved killing off immigrants from other Rennekkan states. The program was stopped following the Empire's surrender to Panjero in January 1921. Altiqo was deposed, and the Montanos reformed the Republic of San Martin, but Altiqo fled to Paislydio where his small remaining support base assisted him creating the Second Kingdom of Paislydio. King Iturbide was surprisingly much more successful in running this state; the economy was kept stable and rebellious sentiment was virtually wiped out. The Republic of San Martin to the west was considering making peace with the Kingdom; this resulted in the San Martin coup d'etat of 1922. The pacifist President was replaced with a Panjeran puppet, who inspired an anti-Paislydio stance across the nation.

Years went on and both states stabilized and succeded, with the Kingdom under Iturbide continuing to win the support of working classes. However, war brewed between the two states. (Sorry that I need to rush this section, my computer is about to die.)
Altiqo was assassinated in 1926 and a Montana-Panjero invasion went ahead almost instantly. Royalist forces fought to the last, with what was expected to be a two week annexation ending up being a 36 month full blown war. After years of instability, the people of the newly unified San Martin in 1929 demanded something better, a more stable state with better human living conditions and economic figures. This support gradually came with surrounding states and later Asura. The Republic was fierce in its war against socialists, with all Socialist movements being banned in 1933, and the ideology as a whole being illegalized by 1935. The Republic's military was expanded and the economy was modernized by away of Asuran intervention in the Crisis of 1928. Midrasian and Newreyan culture was introduced and the Midrasian Paislydians gradually revamped their original culture throughout the country.

Geography and climate of nation: Going south a colder, more mountainous area will be found; Fridgarian winds often sail in and cause cold temperatures and sometimes snow. Pushing north or west humidity rises and we find a climate similar to Amazon Peru or Ecuador, with mainly tropical forests or plains.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): A slowly growing economy, this nation may soon rise to compete with its neighbours, although living conditions aren’t great and I would not call this a regional power.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce GDP per capita and land size.

The name stuck and was solidifed when the Atresci province of the Fiorentine Empire was established when they conquered the region. When the empire fell the land was redivided into various petty kingdoms but they were reconquered and unified over a period of around 500 years, beginning in the 14th century and ending in 1858 when the Atrescan Constitution was established by Niccolo III, previously Duke of Satesia, which crowned him as King of Atresca. Unlike many of its Asuran counterparts, the rule of monarchy went largely without controversy as their power was reigned in by Niccolo's daughter, Queen Andrea, following the conclusion of the Great War in 1899 (which Atresca fought on the winning side of), and were made to look like a more humble and less extravagant monarchy. As such, no republican revolution or widespread movement ever gained traction in Atresca, although during the reign of the FSR many left-wing parties were established that called for the abolition of the monarchy. In modern times, Atresca is still a powerful nation that projects global influence, and a member of the CDN, Cyningburgh Pact and Asuran Community.

The Western part of the nation is dominated by mountious regions with a high snowline, if there is any at all. This region is prone to geological activity including frequent earthquakes and occasional volcanic eruptions. Most of the northern regions are tropical climates with year round warm weather while the southern most portions of the nation are subtropical. Cyclones are rare but have occasionally hit the East and Northern-Western Coastal regions.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Regional power in Rennekka and the Colombian Sea with a strong military and economy, though the federal nature of the state will reduce some of the resources to managing interstate issues. Additionally, the Mountainous western coastline and limited East coast accesses to the ocean will limit power projection. As the nations more western regions are highly susceptible to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, this will similarly cause issues during conflicts.

Geography and climate of nation: On Teyer's coasts it is moderate in temperature and weather while some tropical biomes exist in certain areas. As you journey to the west-center more the land begins to slowly dry out ,on the other side of the mountain range that divides the nation, interior a sandy sub-sahara like environment littered with vast ranch territories and rural lifestyles. A modern frontier. So sparsely populated and loosely held onto by the Teye government that they are nothing but territories and quite self governing. The Teye culture the reason they hold onto as being a part of the Republic. On the other side of the mountain range you will find a much more wet environment heavily populated and modern. Highways, bridges, cities all dotting the rivers and the coasts of the nation. The infastructure and popuation leads these areas to be official states. Designated parts of Teyer since older times, yet the Teye culture is almost a minority here. Immigration, modern secularism has taken its toll on the nations modern half, many beginning to sever ties with old traditions and turn to the modern, left ideas of the new age.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure?: Teyer has a good population. However it is majorly located on the coasts of the nation. The dynamic between each side of the Eagle Mountains can lead to trouble with communication, connections, and sometimes deep conflicts between the people from very different degrees of life. Teyer is strong in stability, success, and national identity. While some choose to go down a path away from the old Teyer many still stand united and deeply protective of their ways of life and the identity that is Teyer.

If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Whatever the problem that is presented to me I will adjust accordingly. The first thing that you always do is cut funding to whatever field the problem may be present in. Military, healthcare, transportation etc. Depends on the problem and whether it was pushed OOCly or IC.

Watching the bronzed man in the dazzling general's uniform read away at the papers the diplomat had recently presented to him. A request from President Dillons to send a lend lease to the small, island nation of Dasa de Copulda a few miles of the coast of Jackson Isles. The room was quite shabby, them being in some bunker away from the frontlines of the small civil war that had engulfed the tropical paradise. The Generalissimo was a stout man, black combed hair and a bushy mustache that rested under his pointed nose and piercing brown eyes that ran over the paper clenched firmly in his hand like small brown gophers scuttling about. A tall, much more burly man stood behind the velvet high backed chair the dictator sat in. Wearing an olive uniform and holding an AK-47. His facial features lost from the sight of Micheal under an old helmet and worn sunglasses. The silence went on. The diplomat quietly scratching at the white collar of his fine suit and eyeing the clock behind the Generalissimo and his guard. The room was a concrete room, a long elegant table and seats occupying the center over a fine looking red rug. While the diplomat nervously stared ahead at the same painting for yet another time, another one of those small tremors shook the ceiling, the sound of a very far off explosion emitting. Mr. Armanas barely flinched. Already growing deathly used to the artillery shells that battered and scorched the land not far away. The only change in mood affected by the shell was the ever so slight rocking of the overhanging lamp. Before it reverted back to its normal sway as if nothing happened...It dragged on. Mr. Armanas was ready for an answer, Teyer demanded one. And here was this scrawny dictator, silently mocking him with the time it took to read a single piece of paper. As a diplomat you learn to be patient, yet he was still human. The Generalissimo was knocking on the limit of Armana's time when he would finally set the paper down on the table's surface. The sound of paper moving seeming to echo within the room, and the diplomat breathed a mental sigh of relief. Because the Generalissimo seemed to approve? No, just the fact that he was finally able to leave this barren, depressing bunker and maybe even this hellhole of an island itself. The Generalissimo looked at Mr. Armanas, his face as stoic as ever when he eventually spoke. Voice just as monotone and dead as the man's expression. "I will take the deal, senor Armanas." .

The Tawhangata people are a Seiranesian people believed to have migrated from the Kawanaka archipelago around the 11th century. They settled along the south east coast and rivers of Savai establishing their own tribal federations (iwi) which would often seek to increase their power by warring with other iwi or seeking out new land across the seas.

Contact with the Asurans in the late 18th century saw a great boom in this culture of war. Tribes began an arms race against each other to gain the upper hand in the next battle as muskets, cannons and other western weaponry became more widespread. The Ngati Tairoa iwi allied themselves more closely with the Liidurians selling a large plot of land near the settlement of Paparaki to them and sending many young men to be educated in Liiduria.

The increasing presence of Liiduria in Akauroa saw a new movement through the tribes calling for unity. Te Kaihou one of the young men who had returned from Liiduria knew that the only way his people could survive was by uniting under a King. His efforts were eventually successful and in 1829 the United Tribes of Akauroa was formed by the southern and central iwi, while the north remained independent. In 1836 under the threat of war Akauroa became a Protectorate under Liiduria, the northern iwi while technically included in the treaty remained in open rebellion until 1842 when it became a separate protectorate.

In the 1950s, with rising nationalism and the decline of colonialism the United Tribes were given full independence. In the present day Akauroa is a developing nation, there has been a focus on shifting the largely agrarian economy to one based on manufactured goods. Tensions between the iwi are still strained but are generally able to be smoothed out whenever a neutral monarch is elected to the throne.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): The peoples and lands that would come to comprise the Alydian Commonwealth of Nzere remained fractious, warlike, and scarcely documented until an Atrescan explorer by the name of Velthurio Vulca establishd a permanent trading colony along the northwestern coast in 1398. This city, called Istria, would become the epicenter of subsequent colonial administrations. By 1522, under the reign of Henri III of Midrasia, the colony and its surrounding hinterlands had come securely into the Midrasian sphere of influence. In 1525, Ghislain de Pueyrredón, First Viceroy of Istrie, assumed his post and began a vigorous campaign to stamp out piracy and enlarge the principal port. In 1531, Pueyrredón changed the name of his capital to New Argois in homage to his boyhood home, though the surrounding territories have been called Istria even to the present day. While de Vuillermoz had a strong personal dislike for the Duke of Alpiens, his reluctance to intervene on behalf of Louis VII may have been tied to long-lingering resentment over his exile, imposed by the boy-king's father, or his desire to profit on speculation of sugarcane prices - scholars remain torn. Nonetheless Jauffre Devreux's deposition of the monarchy provoked ubiquitous disquiet among both the Orthodox planters and Puritan freeholders, who dreaded that social upheavel in Midrasia might incite ikhoboka rebellions in the colony. These fears were realized when in 1628 an Ezikanyo freedman by the name of Jean-Luc Gola led a rebellion that oversaw the destruction of no less than ten percent of all homesteads scattered across the eastern desmenses.

Incensed, Hauquet de Vuillermoz brutally suppressed the ikhoboka, having Jean-Luc Gola hanged, drawn, and quartered in New Argois in a display of violence that shocked even veteran gaolers and soldiers. A year later, in 1630, de Vuillermoz petitioned the newly established consular government to grant Istrie independence. This request was categorically denied, prompting de Vuillermoz to organize an army consisting of planters' sons and ikhoboka. Upon the arrival of red coats in New Argois, the ikhoboka mutinied and turned over the de Vuillermoz and their masters to the newly appointed Midrasian governor. The next century and a half witnessed growing expansion of colonial borders and, in some cases, limited representation for Puritans and mixed-raced people, who, while still often confronted with systematic discrimination, began to comprise a class of small farmers and yeomen.

When Jean-Jacques Devreux dissolved Parliament in 1784, republican sentiments, in place among the Ezikanyo since the ousting of de Vuillermoz, flared into the Nzere Revolution. Led by Tibèri Kamanda, who would later become the First President of the Nzere Commonwealth, the Patriots would seize effective control of the country, excluding New Argois and a few islands, by 1792. Kamanda managed to wittle down a Midrasian army sent to suppress the popular uprising in 1791, defeating the Midrasians decisively at the Battle of Alindao. Tibèri Kamanda would serve as president for two consecutive four year terms, leaving office in 1800 and dying three years later on his small farmstead.

The young republic maintained a policy of strict neutrality and protectionism throughout the nineteenth century, prioritizing expansion to the east, industrialization, and the construction of modern infrastructure and institutions over involvement in Asuran and Vestrin affairs. The country twice repulsed Asuran expeditions to subjugate it and suffered through a ten year civil war beginning in 1854 over slavery, which would be effectively abolished in 1863. Another spat of violence took place following the Great War, from 1899 to 1906, called the Social War, fought between conservative rural interests known as the Blancs and urban liberal interests known as the Rouges. Largely with the assistance of the Midrasians, the Rouges emerged triumphant, introducing an expanded franchise, national banking, and a outward-looking commercial policy that emphasized the export of textiles and factory equipment over the export of sugar and beef. Throughout the twentieth century, Nzere remained neatly aligned with Midrasia and other democratic nations and began exerting its status as a regional hegemon. Civil rights movements through the 1970's and 1980's saw greater freedoms extended to indigenous people with the election of Faria Mandanda, the nation's first indigenous president, being elected in 1994.

Geography and climate of nation: The western states are dominated by flat, rolling grasslands and large metropolises, with a climate varying between temperate, tropical, and semi-arid. Terrain tends towards marshiness around deltas and on some coastlines, with mangroves growing in abundance in more tropical locations. The Tawhangata people are a Seiranesian people believed to have migrated from the Kawanaka archipelago around the 11th century. They settled along the south east coast and rivers of Savai establishing their own tribal federations (iwi) which would often seek to increase their power by warring with other iwi or seeking out new land across the seas.

Contact with the Asurans in the late 18th century saw a great boom in this culture of war. Tribes began an arms race against each other to gain the upper hand in the next battle as muskets, cannons and other western weaponry became more widespread. The Ngati Tairoa iwi allied themselves more closely with the Liidurians selling a large plot of land near the settlement of Paparaki to them and sending many young men to be educated in Liiduria.

The increasing presence of Liiduria in Akauroa saw a new movement through the tribes calling for unity. Te Kaihou one of the young men who had returned from Liiduria knew that the only way his people could survive was by uniting under a King. His efforts were eventually successful and in 1829 the United Tribes of Akauroa was formed by the southern and central iwi, while the north remained independent. In 1836 under the threat of war Akauroa became a Protectorate under Liiduria, the northern iwi while technically included in the treaty remained in open rebellion until 1842 when it became a separate protectorate.

In the 1950s, with rising nationalism and the decline of colonialism the United Tribes were given full independence. In the present day Akauroa is a developing nation, there has been a focus on shifting the largely agrarian economy to one based on manufactured goods. Tensions between the iwi are still strained but are generally able to be smoothed out whenever a neutral monarch is elected to the throne.

The geography and climate of Akauroa is widely varied. In the north and west the Kāwekaweka and Rakiwera ranges mark the nation’s borders. Akauroa’s three main rivers start in said hills, the Awanui, Waihoro and the Pukorio, serving as important routes of travel to the rugged interior of the country. The north is largely tropical with rainforests covering much of the inland while in the south the weather is much fairer with temperate rainforests covering the land between open river plains.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses):
Akauroa is still very much a developing nation, and hence it would most likely act as a small regional and cultural power, very much in the shadow of it’s more advanced neighbours. With ever increasing industrialisation it may grow into a larger power but that still a ways off.

If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce the HDI and GDP if needed.

I'm going to require a map claim for this role. Whilst I am very much open to the idea of a counter-balance to the existing western-european dominated status-quo I am quite weary of adding a nation in African cultural region with such a considerably high gdp compared to its neighbours. Perhaps the strength of the nation could be tweaked to reflect a powerful nation within international geopolitics, but also one that's emerging strength is perhaps drawn from its human resources than its outright economic power? I feel this needs to be discussed more on the discord.

At the moment, Alemannia (our spot for Germanic cultures) does not have any nations, so we’ve definitely got room for a Gothic nation! Additionally the landlocked space in Asura is still available, although it probably wouldn’t be suitable for a Germanic culture.

Two of these islands, Guþenia and Uterria, were primarily inhabited by Guþian tribes, while the third, Hrandelica, was primarily inhabited by Hrandel tribes. In the late 1st century CE, Guþenia and Uterria were united by Valamir, forming the Guþian kingdom.

In the 4th century AD, Alydian missionaries arrived in Guþia from Fiorentine Empire. One of these missionaries, St Tiberius, settled in Guþia and married a Guþian woman. His son, Wulfila, continued his father's missionary work and created an entire new alphabet for the Guþians, who previously had no system of writing, for the purpose of translating the Caudex into Guþian. The system of writing was quickly adopted by the Guþian king & nobility, who were attempting to modernize the country to distance itself from its "barbarian" tribal roots. By the mid-fifth century, The kingdom had fully abandoned paganism and adopted Alydianism as its official religion.

In 420 CE, Guþian king Alaric III sent his brother þeodoric, a monk, on a mission to proselytize to Godigisel, king of the Hrandels, in an attempt to convert the Hrandels to Alydianism. Godigisel, who had no interest in the religion, asked þeodoric to leave. When he refused to leave after Godigisel's repeated attempts to make him, þeodoric was imprisoned and executed. Alaric, upon hearing this news became enraged and declared war on Godigisel. The result was a brutal five-year conflict in which Hrandelica was finally subjugated, uniting the Guþian Isles.

Alaric drafted 5,000 men into the war, in addition to the 7,000 troops of the already existing Guþian military. The force of 12,000 soldiers arrived on the coast of Hrandelica by ship, and initially were very successful in their battles. Godigisel, realizing the Guþian troops far outnumbered his, came up with a new strategy: in the dead of night, a group of scouts entered the Guþian camps when all the soldiers were sleeping, and burned the ships upon which they had arrived to prevent them from leaving the Island. Godigisel then blockaded it. Although the Guþians still outnumbered the Hrandel troops, repeated attacks exhausted and diminished the Guþian army, and because of the blockade, they were unable to send for reinforcements. By 521, less than 5,000 troops of the original 12,000-strong troops remained. Godisigel sent a messenger to Alaric, urging him to abandon the attack if he wished his force to return home safely. Alaric refused, as he had a navy that was equally as strong as Godisigel's, as well as 7,000 reserve troops, and felt he had a chance at winning the war.

Alaric sent his navy to launch a second attack on Hrandelica, this time with him leading it. He won a naval battle against Godisigel, ending the blockade after weakening his navy. Nevertheless, it was a Pyrrhic victory, and Alaric suffered severe losses in doing so. Alaric, however, managed to capture and occupy a large portion of the Island, before finally reaching the capital of Hostria. Alaric began sieging the city, which lasted three years. Because of the length of the siege, the food supply was nearly diminished, and many of the defenders starved to death, and those who survived were forced to resort to cannibalism. Realizing he had no hope of winning the siege, Godisigel sent a messenger to the Guþian camps, inviting the besiegers in the city to negotiate the terms of surrender.

During negotiations, however, Alaric was filled with a burning desire for revenge for the death of his brother, and soon brandished a knife he had been hiding in his cloak, and stabbed Godisigel in the heart, killing him. The people of Hostria, enraged that their king had been killed, massacred much of the Guþian troops. Alaric, and a few of his loyal retainers, managed to escape, returning to Guþia. Alaric then launched a third and final invasion of Hrandelica, which took approximately a year. Alaric won this invasion easily, as Godisigel had left no heir when he died, throwing Hrandelica into chaos. Finally, the three Guþian isles were united. The Hrandel nobles who survived the war were allowed to keep their positions if they converted to Alydianism, and soon the Hrandels were fully converted to the religion. However, the Hrandel culture and language still remained intact, as it does today.

In the late 8th and early 9th centuries, Guþia gradually began to adopt feudalism, and although the king still retained much power and had the most power of anyone in the kingdom, the nobles also gradually began to gain more power in the kingdom, making Guþia more bureaucratic in nature, though still absolutist.

In the 10th century, Trúathist missionaries from Glanodel began to preach in Guþia, and the religion quickly became popular among the nobles and common people. However, the Guþian royal family remained steadfast Alydians. The king of Guþia, Fritigern VII, became worried by the spread of Trúathi, which he saw as a threat to his rule. This was because for centuries, the kings of Guþia had claimed a divine right to rule, and the spread of a new religion was threatening this. As a result, Fritigern outlawed Trúathi in 968. Those who followed the religion were branded as heretics, stripped of all noble titles, and burned at the stake. Fredebal IV, duke of Hrandelica, revolted against the king the following year in response, and in war that lasted less than a year, overthrew him. Fredebal then made himself king, and began persecuting Alydians.

In 1049, the Alydian Pontiff declared a crusade against Guþia, because of the nations persecution of Alydians. The Crusade lasted four years and was successful. Robert FitzAlbert, son of an Alydian Newreyan noble, was proclaimed the new king of Guþia, and began to purge all Trúathists from the realm. As a result, many Trúathists converted to Alydianism to prevent being killed. Robert was the founder of the house FitzAlbert, which started off as a Newreyan house but gradually adopted Guþian culture & language.

In 1648, King Alaric XII abolished the feudal system, as he wished to preserve the monarchy in Guþia by reforming the government, afraid the monarchy might have a similar fate to that of Midrasia. However, Guþia was still absolutist and Elitist, with the Nobility and royal family having more power and a higher standard of living than the common folk. Also around this time, Guþia began to get involved in the international slave trade, and many of the nations blacks and East Majulans are descended from slaves, although Guþia did not have any colonies of its own. This all ended in 1820, with the June revolution. In June of 1820, a revolution, led by Count Valamir of Hannara, overthrew the corrupt king þeodoric X, his second cousin twice removed, and he was elected king Valamir V of Guþia. Valamir reformed Guþia into a Constitutional Elective monarchy, legalized homosexuality, established the Office of prime minister, as well as dividing the government into three branches: the executive, the legislative, and judicial, each which regulated each other, preventing any one of them from gaining too much power. He also abolished the slave trade in 1824, and slavery in 1827.

Guþia stayed neutral in the First Great war, but joined Cyningburgh Pact in 1926, and as a result joined the Second Great war in 1936. Following the conclusion of the war, Guþia's military was greatly weakened, as it remains to this day, but has somewhat improved.

Robert FitzAlbert, son of an Alydian Newreyan noble, was proclaimed the new king of Guþia, and began to purge all Trúathists from the realm. As a result, many Trúathists converted to Alydianism to prevent being killed. Robert was the founder of the house FitzAlbert, which started off as a Newreyan house but gradually adopted Guþian culture & language.

In 1648, King Alaric XII abolished the feudal system, as he wished to preserve the monarchy in Guþia by reforming the government, afraid the monarchy might have a similar fate to that of Midrasia. However, Guþia was still absolutist and Elitist, with the Nobility and royal family having more power and a higher standard of living than the common folk. Also around this time, Guþia began to get involved in the international slave trade, and many of the nations blacks and East Majulans are descended from slaves, although Guþia did not have any colonies of its own. This all ended in 1820, with the June revolution. In June of 1820, a revolution, led by Count Valamir of Hannara, overthrew the corrupt king þeodoric X, his second cousin twice removed, and he was elected king Valamir V of Guþia. Valamir reformed Guþia into a Constitutional Elective monarchy, legalized homosexuality, established the Office of prime minister, as well as dividing the government into three branches: the executive, the legislative, and judicial, each which regulated each other, preventing any one of them from gaining too much power. He also abolished the slave trade in 1824, and slavery in 1827.

Guþia stayed neutral in the First Great war, but joined Cyningburgh Pact in 1926, and as a result joined the Second Great war in 1936. Following the conclusion of the war, Guþia's military was greatly weakened, as it remains to this day, but has somewhat improved.

Weak military.
High taxation, leading to some unrest within the populace.
Strict government regulation of businesses, very little economic freedom.

This looks interesting. I just have a couple of questions. Is a Greek nation fine for that peninsula south of Veleaz? And what is the general activity requirement here?

That is precisely where a Greek nation would be best suited, actually! As for the activity requirement, we do most of our chatter and conceptualising on Discord while our main worldbuilding outlet is IIWiki. Forumside RP is definitely a bonus, but you won't be kicked out if you don't participate.

Glosmynd used to be a number of small medieval duchies and kingdoms until they were mostly conquered by Wradhia between 1350 and 1400. Since then Glosmynd hasn't been independent. During the Wradhian occupation, the Glosmynd culture was heavily influenced by the Wradhian one that in late 17th century more people spoke Wradhian than Glosmyndic. The second half of the 18th century marked the age of the Glosmynd national awakening and a a growing interest in the Glosmyind language in intellectual circles. By then the Glosmynd language was spoken by barely 10% of the population and could only be found in isolated communities in the countryside. Many intellectuals ventured into these enclaves and learned their supposed native tongue. The Glosmyndic separatist movement had a number of small rebellions in both the 17th and 18th centuries but the most important one was in 1847 which is known as the Glosmynd Uprising. The Glosmynd nationalists proclaimed an independent republic and started a war which lasted for 8 year which saw Glosmynd gain a broad autonomy withing Wradhia. After the Great War and the turmoil in its aftermath Glosmynd proclaimed independence for the second time and waged a war of independence which ended in Glosmynd becoming a fully independent state.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Ionland for most of its existence has been led by a monarch of many types. One of the biggest events which drastically changed Ionland was the expansion and merging of various different ethnic groups in neighboring areas into Ionite territory. In the 17th and 18th century Ionland attempted various means of expansion abroad to make itself an empire. But due to the campaigns abroad there was a stagnation domestically in the 19th and early 20th century. There has been a minor share of internal struggle in Ionland, the biggest of which happened in 1914 when the Ionite War of Succession and Republican Revolt broke out which led to the rise of the Rominski Dynasty which has led Ionland for the past 100 years. Geography and climate of nation: Most areas of Ionland are flatlands with cities and suburbs although some regions in Ionland are scattered with mountain ranges and miles upon miles of forest. The climate of Ionland is generally cold weather.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Ionland is generally isolationist when it comes to foreign wars and crisises but while Ionland strays from sending its soldiers abroad Ionland likes to build upon its renown through its sports program by sending its national hockey and football teams abroad on tournaments. Ionland's two major weaknesses are its diplomatic worth. Due to the highly controversial nature of the monarchy in Ionland abroad, foreign nations find it hard to work with Ionland on things (kinda like a real world Putin). Also due to the lack of recent military activity, the military of Ionland lacks proper deployment abilities.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Id lower my military's effectiveness, make them abit more prone to blunders like leaks and not state of the art equipment. I'd also lower the diplomatic effectiveness of my nation making Ionland's voice in the international community not well regarded.

Government type: Authoritarian Democracy. A system of government in which a leader(s) is democratically elected by the people, and is bestowed strong executive powers and a few privileges of an authoritarian government. In Encessia the president holds the power to dissolve Parliament, command the military, control the economy to an extent, suspend freedoms when deemed needed and issue executive orders that must be followed. However all these actions are kept in check by the Parliament and a High Court.

Brief background of nation: Former colonies of the Commonwealth who broke away in a brief revolutionary war during the turbulent times of 1837. Over the years the nation expanded and grew west, settling shaky peaces with natives via war or peace. As it grew it modernized with the rest of the world. Immigrants coming from across the seas to take part in Encessia's great industrial growth and vast development throughout the years. It became a trade power in its area and formed a functioning government with a very strong economy. The only exception being its untamed Western portion from around 1850-1910. During the Great Wars it aided the Allies through troops and lend leases. Even joining their side officially near the middle of the wars. It continued to thrive throughout the years, suffering a short civil conflict and brief lived socialist republic during the 1970's after an event dubbed 'The Red Wave' where a vast movement of socialists upset with the sluggy economy deficit and so called corruption in the presidency initiated a coup. After Encessia recovered and the democracy restored it went on to a brief war in the islands south of the mainland during the rise of a vicious dictator and occupied a group of islands known as 'The Cook Islands' that remain under its rule to this day. Currently, the government is undergoing reforms after the murder of a libertarian and great president known as Michael Armanas. Political turmoil followed, until Ron Newharon was elected into office quite hastily and managed to calm the shouts under an iron hand. However, some are greatly against his rise to power, and tensions still run high.

Geography and climate of nation: Varies across the nation. In the northwest the climate is much more dry and arid across the mountains. In the far west and far southwest the climate is more tropical and humid. Along the coast the climate is coastal humid. Further northeast it is colder, and higher altitude. Eveywhere in between is mild biomes and climates.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): A very well-off, developed nation with an average-funded military and functioning democracy with authoritarian elements. As seen however, a few flaws in the system have made it moderately prone to government uproot and changing ideals of a varying population. Internally however these problems have been kept under control by a very adept and highly-funded police force.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce the economy strength, police force.

Roleplay sample: Ron Newharon, president of Encessia stood before the wooden podium, his hands gripping the sided edges and his eyes looking out to the expecting crowd all sat in the vast auditorium. Some clapping, some holding signs that supported his cause, some simply silent and waiting. A small bit of nervousness overcame him when he caught sight of the few Parliament members in the front row. Sticking out as fine dressed, older gentlemen with cold eyes. Among them he saw Conner Vancian, Parliament chairman watching him with an apathetic look. Mr. Newharon's rival, and most likely his biggest critic of whatever he would say at this speech here in Grantsville. Behind the audience the black lenses and bulky builds of the many media cameras, all zoomed in on him. Adding to the subtle pressure. As the cheering died down, Newharon would grab his sleek back microphone attached to the podium and clear his throat. The speech officially beginning with a small gesture out to the crowd...

"Grantsville. It's an honor to be here..." (Short and sweet. So the reading isn't too much.)
