Onza wrote:Hey there, and thanks for applying.

As you work on fleshing out your application, allow me to call attention to the following factors:

 • Your proposed GDPPC is far too high for our standards. I would suggest bringing it down to ~$40k for a very wealthy nation and ~$25k for an average economic power.
 • I can appreciate the small nation you are aiming for, but if you wanted to counteract slashing your GDPPC by growing your population, I'm not opposed.
 • This is more of a pointer: as you flesh out your national background, I recommend reaching out to your soon-to-be neighbors and ironing out some details with them.

Let me know if there's anything I can help you with.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that I successfully applied for that area a long time ago, but since it's a tiny peninsula I'll let him have it, provided he cooperates with the mods.

I'd appreciate that very much, thanks :)

Herg, thank you for pointing this out. It can sometimes be tedious keeping up with where people have applied for. I'll PM you with more info.

No worries whatsoever pertaining to the GDPPC. Aeia's "averages" are quite different from that of the real world, and this isn't always widely advertised, so I understand where for many it would seem sufficient to simply borrow from an IRL nation. I'm okay with $35k.

Belad, I'm happy to accept your multi. I think you've met the criteria with your work on your main nation. However -- and this is why I included Bril -- I know you were applying for Bril's old spot. Is there another space in Asura that you would be willing to move your nation to? Feel free to message me with any concerns.

Also, Bril, welcome back. You're accepted again.

Naharin,

My apologies in the delay to the response to your application. Without further ado, allow me to add some comments.

I think you've done a good job of fleshing out Naharin. I don't think you're claiming a particularly powerful role with your new multi (as evidenced by the low GDPPC), but I think the nation you're working to create would be quite significant given that it will consist of a relatively huge number of people. I was going to suggest reducing the population, but on further thought I think it's appropriate for the region. Thus, I'm going to go ahead and accept you. Keep an eye on the thread for when another mod gets by to do the same.

Also a reminder for the recently activated Mid, my claim was changed to a large area north of the Vezmazzia area to the east of UVSS, and west of Motsvara. Essentially draw a line from the top of Motsvara, west to the UVSS and south of there is Daskoviland. Major cities are Sarilau, Isikorus, Miyakan, Brandtholm, Lerrzene, and Nyvasto. Thanks. Also, my population for re-affirmation is 58,000,000.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):

A former Colonial Nation of hergemoth, this nation was founded when a handful of Charter companies in Private Stock Ventures received a royal Charter to set up colonies in land that had been claimed by the king but had never been fully settled. This started the nation's history as a export Colony based on profit.

Needing to rapidly make the colony profitable in order to justify the investment by the private individuals and pay their dues to the king for their Royal charger the original colonists quickly Enslaved the indigenous native population and began to build an Economy based on resource extraction.

Gaining their independence during The Hectic 19th century the Young Nation maintain slavery until the late 19th century but merely replaced it with systems of sharecropping and other forms of nearly slave labor but still denied the workers their daily bread.

Rich and wealthy landowners and foreign corporate interests grew wealthy off the nation's Bountiful harvests and huge Mineral Wealth well the citizens felt almost no benefit from the Nations exports.

This combined with the Accord conditions slowly led to be radicalization of the workers in the nation. They began to organize piece by piece into industrial syndicates and cooperatives. Sparked by four and agitation and Revolutions in their neighbor a general strike finally crippled the economy and attempts by the ruling regime to end the dispute using force was quickly crushed forcing those loyal to the government to retreat to the urban centers where the revolution became of violent struggle that damaged many of the Great cities.

Now the new revolutionary Republic is ready to engage on a course of modernization and self strengthening to bring the wealth of their Nation to the people

Map claim (Imgur):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1onA ... p=drivesdk

Geography and climate of nation:

Located on the southwest coast of Vestrim. The northern border of the nation is marked by a steep mountain range with the majority of the countries population and agriculture living in between the mountains and the ocean with several powerful Rivers providing natural irrigation and transportation systems.

The western edge of a nation is occupied by a Rocky and hilly peninsula.

The temperature is notably warmer than other areas at that part of the globe due to the mountains blocking cold air blowing from the north and allowing the warm Ocean Breeze to keep the temperature warm during the winter months.

The Western Peninsula lacking any such protection drops down significantly in temperature with heavy snowfall affecting those communities based in the mountains and Hills during the winter months.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses):

Politically weak, economically underdeveloped militarily crippled, technologically behind, this unstable Republic emerging from the violent overthrow of capitalism would most likely be swallowed up anywhere else in the world. Thankfully it is amongst friends.

Sharing cultural links to ovandera, the two states have an ideological and historical basis for friendship, with wobia falling under the heavy influence of her much bigger and stronger cousin.

Thankfully the young state is blessed with fertile fields and geological surveys suggest even greater mineral wells to supplement the nation's traditionally export-based economy.

And while her professional military forces are disorganized if not almost completely non-existent the mountainous terrain of the northern part of the country has created a strong tradition of hunters who have gained International prominence as Sharpshooters, and sportsman.

If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?:

Lowering the population as well as lowering the available natural resources. Adding separatist groups and counterrevolution further destabilizing the tenuous political situation.

How did you hear about Aeia? just found it when looking at RP regons

Roleplay sample (Optional, though required for claiming a more powerful role):

Of all the days it could have rained why did it have to be this one?

This was the only thought that could pass through Adolph's head as his I slowly tracked across the dimly-lit Skyliners of Hafen bay.

Watching the capital city of there new People's Republic the doused in Flames. Hearing A Million Raindrops continually batter the ancient trading post, now heart of a Nation.

The young man of just 26 reached into the pocket of his waistcoat slowly pulling out the crumpled packet of cigarettes he delicately hid away for moments like this.

Moments of calm in the chaos that had been the last few years of his life.

Going from an organizer for the student syndicate at his university, too rabble-rousing provocateur during the general strike, and now a low-ranking member of the new provisional government sitting in the office once occupied by a high-ranking member of the old regime.

As he finally ignite in the cigarette in sucked in the toxic smoke, Adolf was finally able to look past the rain into the chaotic streets below. Even with the weather people were still celebrating.

The citizens of this new nation we're celebrating the only way free people know how. By singing proudly and loudly singing the most beautiful song ever sung.

Even from his perch high above the city streets he could still clearly hear every syllable spoken only broken by the thunderous crackles of lightning igniting the sky

The all-too-familiar words of the internationally, words that until now could only be song and quiet Huddle's and secret rooms we're now belowing out on every street corner in the capital. Adolph knew this celebration must be happening in every City and town and forgotten Shack in this country.

Every river valley in the nation must be ringing like a bell with that beautiful sound. Every bar and every boat. And certainly the dark and Dangerous Mines where the workers had first fought back against the bourgeoisie. Every one of those dangerous dark tombs dug to rip out the nation's natural wealth and sell it for the profit must be filled with music.

The thought of it all made Adolf smile from ear-to-ear as he sucked in the last huff of his cigarette.

Turning around to head back to the main office where his fellow workers were beginning the process of rearranging the furniture to facilitate the debates that would determine the makeup of the new government, the young man soon found himself staring into a pair of old and weary eyes. Looking at a woman who's old brown skin had the texture of a raisin. And who's fragile thin lips seem to be put into a permanent smile.

“ now what are you doing in here Adolf?”

“ mother Malinche!” the young man shouted instantly flicking his cigarette away and standing up straight. Adjusting his crooked glasses and pulling down his waistcoat to straighten it up

The old woman Shackled as she walked forward tapping her walking stick against the ground as she moved over to the window

“ you should be out there celebrating child. This Revolution was won by people like you” the triumphant matriarch said turning her attention back up towards the tall skinny man

“ its….not my scene" the young man said calmly as he turned his attention away from the woman who had given 80 years of her life to get the nation to this point.

But as his eyes were turned towards the ground he felt that skinny hand on his shoulder

“ Adolf dear, I can understand why you are so hesitant”

Adolf slowly looked up at the old sage

“ you...you do"

She nodded series that warm maternal smile that she had become known for pointing up at him as her hand returns to her ancient wooden walking stick

“ yes. You don't feel like you're worthy. Like you haven't earned this spot in our new government. Well let me strike such negative thoughts from your mind. Boy what you did with organizing and radicalizing the Student Union was essential. Just as important as the miners strike and the peasant farmers refusing to send food to the army"

She motioned for him to walk with her as the pair began to head towards the door. A new confidence smile replacing the uncertain looked on the man's face as he flicked his cigarette into an empty Waste Paper bin.

“ now, we better get to work. Winning a revolution with the East part. Now we have to build a society to live up to the values of it”

Postby Barratistan » Fri Sep 07, 2018 2:49 pm

IC nation name:Republic of Oàgadishu
Capital:Mengistu
Government type:
RP population:30mil
Ethnic Group(s):Predominatly Somali, minorities would be planned according to lore
Language(s):Somali, Arabic and former colonial overlord's language
IIWiki:Wiki page
Brief Background:
The country gained it's formal independence in 1959 via coup d'état with the assistance of left-leaning students and syndicates, officially the country taking with the international communist side. The RCC emphasized on gearing up the military with the help of her patron power while getting herself involved into global petroleum politics, much of the revenue was spent besides the military; importing large amounts of food as the country was landlocked and didn't posses enough land to feed the population.

Near the mid-70's, her multi-ethnic neighboring country was of impeding collapse after overthrowing the local royal government in a violent coup but the country collapsed as rebellions spurred up. Oàgaden was ordered to intervene to save the communist regime but bad blood over price fixing on food imports made the RCC unmovable to intervene in the nation's favour as the provinces on the south contained predominately ethnic Oagadistis which the government sought to liberate and at the same time fix her aging food supply problem and other economic problems. Foreign troops stationed inside the country tried to overthrow the government triggering the infamous War of the Camps, the government won with sheer cunning but most of all thanks to a good amount of luck: breaking down relationships with most of the 'left-leaning' world, fearing her former allies might stabilize her neighbor intervention was greenlighted.

The war started in 1978, was short and victorious(ending 1981 officially, 1983 unofficially) but brutal as the armed forces alone suffered hundreds of thousands of dead. A mark still felt for generations losing such a large amount of men to the battlefield. A few years later fanatical Irsadists tried to lead a revolution against the government but it was brutally cracked down by government troops using tanks and assault helicopters on her own cities.

The 90's was the decade of major economic reforms but primarily the decade of reconstruction. The new millennium marked the beginning for the first time, a new age for economic prosperity spearheaded by the agriculture sector and newfounded cottage-level industries either as private cooperatives or even clan-owned. Despite democratization and openness policies pursued, human rights abuses continue as the regime wanted to ensure it's longlevity has launched a series of anti-corruption witch-hunts not even high level officials have escaped and those found guilty executed.

The future of the country is uncertain as the government is forced keeping troops in neighboring countries in peacekeeping operations to keep violence away from internal borders at the cost of roughly 1k troops annually with many citizens hating it despite formal professionalization and better pay. The country is also not getting along with most of her neighbors which has costed in trade and loss of economic opportunity and even sanctions on maintaining the occupation of the "Liberated Zone" of the western parts of the country.

Map claim:I was told Mehrsia would be removed from the map, I want that coastal area as part of my lore as it internationally unrecognized annexed area after a large war
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses):
Although there have been doctrinal and training reforms in-par with the rest of the world, most the equipment is aging as few nations trade military equipment(due to sanctions for the Liberated Zone issue) forcing creating a small industry of local-made weapons such light-motorized utility vehicles or long-range artillery but it's not enough as the armored corps and the air forces are in bad shape. The military is fairly experienced due to extensive peacekeeping missions and counter-insurgency operations against indigenous terrorist organizations.

Diplomatically as said, Oàgaden is fairly isolated, most nations although keep diplomatic missions but either not on embassy level or services need to be referred elsewhere. Most if not all do not recognize the annexation of the Liberated Zone.

Oàgaden is part of the Second World in broad terms economically, the countries largest exports are agricultural products such world's top exporter of coffee and largest florist industry and emerging consumer brands exports: particularly shoes by the Clan Tigray owned firms and having fairly modest oil revenues that mostly concentrated on sovereign wealth funds for purchase of agricultural machinery as part of its mechanization program. Most of the infrastructure is fairly new since the 90's so the "prosperity" is very recent yet there is a severe loss of economic as foreign investments are rare due to the proximity being on a volatile region and sanctions of such acts.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?:
Adding further discotent and strain to the military for it's high annual casualties in this bad neighborhood

IC nation name: Republic of La Cayuna (commonly misspelt La Cuyana)
Capital: San Reinaso
Government type: Constitutional presidential republic: with elements of kleptocratic rule.
RP population: 20-25 million
Ethnic Group(s): Veleazan 40%, Native 20%, Black 20%, Newreyan 20%
Language(s): Veleazan, Newreyan, Diachorian, Midrasian, Nordic
GDP per capita (USD): 19,598
HDI: 0.869
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):
The area around lake Yacuuian had been inhabited by Natives until around 1300 when Northern Diachorics arrived and created a widespread empire with gold reserves, jungles, and beaches. Discovered by ((Columbus) in 1495, there were interests in the unclaimed territory by smaller Asurian states, but the natives were puzzled with the arrival of whites. In 1510s, Veleaz stoked a claim and took over the shorelines, settlers slowly expanding inwards to the nation. Midrasian and Newreyans were also arriving in this time.

Natives were split between those who believed Asurians were gods or divines, and those who mistrusted them. Veleazans conquistadors began ransacking towns in which skeptic natives resided, and slowly the grip on the area became greater, with expansion into Vidoria to the south. Newreyan settlements became numerous as anti-Veleaz natives seeked and ally. By 1600 the entire area was under Veleazan control but the Newreyan presence further inland meant an angry minority protected by the Newreyan government who nationalized the colonies eventually.

A short war between Veleaz, Newrey and the natives basically migrated inland while Asurans fought it out across Rennekka. Eventually the Newreyans were annexed by Veleaz, and large amounts of Arabkekh slaves were shipped in. A rebellion by slaves in 1805 led to revolutionary tension against Veleaz, and in 1809 a war of independence began. It failed, but Veleaz sadly sacrificed the territory in 1820 after mounting pressure. Governments changed and shuffled along with borders for decades, until in 1881 the Newreyans, together with natives rose up, forming a new, ethnic nation. Numbers of Natives and Newreyans increased, but the nation lost in the Great War and ended in 1900. La Cayuna was then reformed. It was a democratic republic until the 60s and 70s when military juntas and drug cartels rose. The Third Republic was declared after civil war in 1997.
Map claim (Imgur): Generally a large area, bordering Vidoria, to the north of Vidoria.

Geography and climate of nation: Tropical, mainly rainforested inland and sunny palm beaches. Mountainous in some places.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): A significant drug business and will play the role of like Chile or Dominican Rep. with a slowly rising economy, but struggling social conditions
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: I'm not sure.

IC nation name: South Burmondsy, officially the Democratic Republic of Nanto
Capital: Kyūkyō
Government type: Federal semi‑presidential republic
RP population: 12,255,033 (out of Burmondsy's total population of 18,382,550*)
Ethnic Group(s): Nantojin (Ashiharan), other aborigine/native groups tbd
Language(s): Ashihran, Nantogo (Hachijo dialect), native/aborigine tbd
GDP per capita (USD): $38,501 (I'm flexible on this so suggestions are welcome)
HDI: 0.841
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Briefly here; South Burmondsy is a democratic republic in South Catai, having been so since 19xx when the monarchy were deposed after a war with Ashihara saw them lose the islands of Kitajima and Toiyama**. The Republic of Chishima was set up, though it was internationally unrecognised until it reformed into the Republic of Nanto, and later the Democratic Republic of Nanto. It has since been a multi-party democracy, though the various branches of the Nationalist Party (Kokuminto) have dominated the nation politically. While most often known as South Burmondsy, it rejects this name in favour of Nanto, the Ashiharan name for Burmondsy.

Ashiharan migration to the island of Burmondsy began during the Middle Ages, largely by private enterprises seeking to gain new resources and exploit native labour, and by the Ashiharan government seeing the place as an opportunity to exile political opponents and criminals. With Ashihara's collapse in the early modern era** Burmondsy and the surrounding isles, including Kitajima and Toiyama, became a short-lived oligarchic republic until the arrival of nobles from Ashiharan who created the Kingdom of Chishima. The ruling dynasty eventually split into two courts, northern and southern, and the southern, ruling Burmondsy, was eventually conquered by Newrey after losing other territories to other Asuran powers, though later they were able to reclaim most of the south of the isle before reunifying with the northern court.***
Map claim (Imgur): Owned | Claimed

Geography and climate of nation: Subtropical island, most cities arranged on the coast with mountainous interior
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Far smaller, in population, land and economy, than most Cataian states, Nanto likely relies upon existing alliances and power-structures to remain safe and secure while surrounded by states it is unfriendly with.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce pop. or more likely GDP

How did you hear about Aeia? Am already Aeian
What other nations do you use on NS? None
Roleplay sample (Optional, though required for claiming a more powerful role):

Any other info you wish to add (Optional):*means this'll depend on Newrey, and **means this'll depend on Lunas ***depends on Newrey and Mid

Ovandera | Multi Application | Wàhngjāu

Postby Ovandera » Tue Sep 11, 2018 6:25 am

IC nation name: 宏周 | Wàhngjāu
Capital: 天陽 | Tīnyèuhng
Government type: Unitary Parliamentary Republic
RP population: 225,624,000
Ethnic Group(s): Yen/Yèhn 殷 (Jau 周, Song 宋, with a Qyredine (Xin 昕) minority), alongside a minority of different Catai ethnicities
Language(s): Zhou/Jāu/Jau (Cantonese), Song (Hakka), Xin (Mandarin)
GDP per capita (USD): $24,500
HDI: 0.876

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): The countries “modern” history begins roughly around the year 1534 after the Sáu (首) Dynasty established itself apart from the steadily collapsing Maengtau polity. Economically destitute from almost a decade of civil war, the Jau government would become one of the first East-Catai countries to actively seek out formal trade ties with established western powers, a policy that would continue on to the modern day. A mixture of an emboldened Imperial Asuran identity as well as unfair trade practices would bring this early Empire into direct conflict with the Aquidish Empire who, in 1632, would formally declare war on Wàhngjāu, managing to score a humiliating victory against the Jāu, seizing the Islands of Cheuiluhk (翠綠) and Daaihlābā (大喇叭), as well as several major port cities in 1635. The effects of this defeat would permanently alter the countries history, as in 1643 the Capital would play host to the fifth mass uprising in only three decades — the Aquidish victory soon became the final nail in the coffin for the rapidly decaying Empire, and on December 2nd, 1644, the newly formed National Diet (国民议会) would establish the Wàhngjāu “Republic” (共和国) — literally “Common Peace”. The Republic would fight a second war over their territorial loss with the Aquidish Empire, and in 1657 after a third conflict, it would formally reclaim the occupied cities as well as Cheuiluhk and Daaihlābā Islands.

Although conflict would inevitably spill over onto Wàhngjāu, it's first great threat would be in 1934 when war broke out between the Republic and it's eastern neighbor Qyred. Qyredine forces would spill into the countries northeastern prefecture, with the fiercest fighting taking place in Gintaap (建塔), only being completely driven out in 1946. This was only the latest happening in a series of events raging over Yidao in the mid-1900's, a series of conflicts which would end up simultaneously scarring and defining the era. It would be how the Jāu would respond to these various conflicts, however, that would permanently shift the countries history.

In 1929, backed by General Wáhn Chèuhng (尹翔), the Military High Command and Internal Security Bureau (内部安全局), a Secret-Service Agency developed before the war, would stage a Coup D'etat against Government, reimplementing itself as the premier Legislative and Executive authority within the country. Unlike most traditional Junta however, the new assortment of Generals and Directors leading the country would reorganize themselves into the Gwokfòhngwái (國防委), or Committee for National Defense, a formalized Bureaucratic Stratocracy. Under the new Regime, the Mining and Manufacturing industries would be nationalized and heavily funded, the Committee would also reorganize the tax code and land holdings and several major infrastructure projects would be put underway. The Coup was a long-time coming, a string of disagreements between leading Generals and ISB Directors, and the National Diet and Haauhjéung, or Chief Minister, or Júng Chèuhng (總長), over the possibility of formal war, as well as arguments over industrial quota and supplies oriented toward the military eventually drove the founders of the Committee to action, their plans being properly realized several years later.

When war did inevitably break out however, a series of major miscalculations would allow Qyredine troops to occupy the three northeastern-most prefecture of Wùhbāk (湖北), Sāannàahm (山南), and Bóusāi (堡西) before their advance was finally halted in April, 1935. The War itself would last another 6 years, although a Jāu-Qyredine front would be reopened in 1946.

The Modern State would come about formally in 1968 when the Gwokfòhngwái officially handed power back to a reformed National Diet under the leadership of Chief Minister Héui Gihnwàhng (许健宏). Reincorporating and reforming many of the institutions of the previous Regime, the newly established Republic would be quickly dominated by the Nationalist Solidarity Council (Gwokmàhn Tyùhngit Pìhngyíh Wúi | 國民团结評議會), a once Direct-Action organization turned political party who's political dominance has yet to be truly challenged.

Geography and climate of nation: Wahngjau has a relatively steady cool sub-tropical climate, particularly in the countries geographic core; it most resembles the Yangtze River Basin, with the massive eastward flowing Hāksā River (黑沙河) and it’s several major tributaries splitting much of the country. The northernmost regions, being located at generally higher elevations than the south, experience cooler weather while the Southern coasts are much warmer, with equatorial winds blowing up from the ocean.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): In comparison to other nations (particularly my previous one, Ovandera) Wàhngjāu is an economic powerhouse; The Economy has developed a diverse array of major industries, chief among them being Consumer and Industrial Technology, Mass Transit (Rail and Air), and of course, Major Manufacturing. The country also has developed a rapidly expanding import queue, focusing primarily on Automobiles and Luxury Goods. The countries economic strength has also allowed the Government to divert its own assets toward developing a first-rate Public Services department, rivaling Asuran countries in Public Transportation (The Yahtlèuhng [日梁] Bullet Train being a particular achievement) and actively competing with Sükhbaatar and Ajerrin for one of the worlds best education systems

This strength however, has also lead to several major issues. The government in Tīnyèuhng is highly centralized —having reincorporated many of the institutions of the previous “Committee of National Defense”— and much of the countries most recent years of growth have been due to state involvement, with there being a plethora of State-Industries and State-owned or influenced companies driving the economy. This system of State Capitalism has been driven primarily by the manufacturing industry; however, as the country has modernized this economic system has become progressively more unsustainable.

Currently Tīnyèuhng has been seeking to export itself abroad, using a mixture of State and Private companies to build markets in its neighbors and across the globe to fuel the countries growing post-industrial attitude. This itself comes with major issues as the Government has found difficulty fostering good relations with its neighbor Qyred due to the heavy Cotri influences in the Qyredine government being distrustful or antagonistic toward the government in Tīnyèuhng. Issue has also been found further north, with the ongoing conflict against the “State of Truth” —officially classified by Wàhngjāu as an “Illegal Insurgency”— putting immediate stand-by’s on further economic endeavors into Eastern Yidao.

Domestic issues also put pressure on Tīnyèuhng to begin acting when it can as soon as it can; there currently is an enormous disparity between the growing Middle Class, located along the coast and in urban areas across the country, and the more rural agrarian lower-classes. The Government maintains open channels with the populace, most notably for construction and longterm projects however this has often led to clashes between either party. Corruption is also a major fear of the current administration, with the State Bureaucracy being compacted tightly into Tīnyèuhng however this hasn't prevented scandal from growing outside of the Capital.

If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Lower the population or lower its economic strength; a more interesting approach would be to implement the onset of economic damage from a failure to decentralize and adapt to the increasingly post-industrial economy.

He was alone in his bedchamber, and while his eyes were closed he was no more asleep than he was heretical. How many times had he laid awake like this? Focusing on his breath, his heartbeat, listening for the slightest sound. He shifted slightly, his long white beard tugging on his chin, when was the last time he’d truly left the Palace-Temple; after all in his age, he’d could barely fathom to move without aid. How many years has he done this, led a nation, a faith forward?

It was no matter, he’d never felt this before. Every night for countless decades he’d rest assured, with grace of God he’d rested with knowledge of his nations security. For the first time in almost a century, the Ahnsijn felt alone. There was no Comfort of the warmth of God.

His eyes, aged and wizened, fluttered open and in a voice, near in shock, simply stated: “He’s fading…”

Ixthenpijn, Ahkmaur River

Tkiir stood over the river, it’s blue shimmer just barely now illuminating his face, blocked by a thick black substance coating its surface; he was there only a day ago when the first Expeditionary force to the Frontier arrived back in Ixaleft, he could only think of what did something like that. Those within the Grotto-City had tried to rid themselves of the substance in the water, the Expeditionary Soldiers informing them that it was this very substance that polluted the underrivers in between Ixthenpijn and the Frontier-Hold of Abyan. They tried to bury it, but the substance spread disease to whoever touched it; they tried to hold it back but it flooded through the canals of the city in waves; finally they tried burning it but it filled the air with a toxic fume faster than could be blown away by the natural cavern air-currents.

The clang of a bell tore him from his thoughts and he drew his blade, out of the corner of his eye he saw practically every other soul on the docks doing the same, dawning looks of both pride and fear. Looking out, he just saw up the river before the grotto bled into the outer caverns. It took him a moment, but soon he heard it… sound of water was getting louder. Suddenly, the source of the noise flashed in the distance, brightened as it pushed the black substance out of the way, allowing the natural river’s shine to cut through. It was a small boat, much to Tkiir’s surprise, but the man a’front rang his bell with a fury.

The water behind him exploded, a dark shape lashing out like a whip, a vertical maw and concentric rows of teeth slammed into him, pulling him off his vessel. A bone-chilling scream echoed through the cavern.

The Priests eyes were wild in the firelight, scanning maddeningly over the sorry excuse for guards standing groggily before him. Shadows danced along the wide cavern chamber from braziers running the length of the rough rock walls, cool air flowing in from the archway in the cavern-wall behind him; The click of a lock and he looked up, the grand doors of the Palace, a gallant stone structure carved directly into this cavernous enclave, slid open into the walls revealing 6 Soldiers and a woman wearing the distinct uniform of a General-grade within the Priest-Caste.
“And?” he shouted, “What of the boy?!”

The woman shook her head, walking down the stone steps toward him, “Gone, his bedroom seems to have been ransacked, and none of the guards we’ve found were stationed in the Eastern wing near it.”

“Damnit unto Xathii,” Glancing toward the soldiers in front of him, the guards they’d found during the first sweep, “These men are to be tried for Heresy against the Church.” Turning around to another platoon of soldiers behind him, “Sweep the area and send a message to General Vkain Al’tchakohd, the Urcilāo must be found!”

Kyasii Cavalrymen glinted under the soft blue light of the M’tchnesk Fungi, riders standing tall in their saddles, Khopesh blades raised. Their K’kasa mounts, Moth-like equine analogues, stood read to charge; behind them two ranks of Ach’mult Reapers waited to start a secondary assault, wide pincers hanging just below the saddles of the cavalry. Ahead, 4 Hanzein Squadron-Independencies scouted along the river, metal armor sparkling. Across the battlefield, Yrutan Heretics crouched behind their fortifications —a scroll, a black ink stone, and a line of bronze styli— knowing they stood no chance against the might of Asil. But a row of Yrutan abominations loomed behind them, ready to devour any who dared retreat.

The attack had almost begun when Va’el Il-Axao Mtchan, Urcilāo of the Greater Asilic Ahnsijnate and the Kyasii Faith, thought he heard someone outside his door… He took a soft step toward his bed, a mattress placed into an ornate stone basin—then froze in place, listening hard. The b’kahp, a garden-variety lichen, stirred in a soft breeze along the balcony outside, but otherwise the cavern from his vantage was silent. His chief instructors were in Arcthaur, after all, in attendance with the Curate, and the servant-grades wouldn't dare disturb his sleep. Va’el turned back to his desk and began to move the cavalry forward, grinning as the battle neared its climax.

The Ach’mult walkers had completed their assault, and it was time for the tin k’kasa to finish off the hilariously outnumbered Heretic archers. It had taken most of his sleep-cycle to set up the attack, using a military-tactics scroll borrowed from his Instructors study. After all it, it seemed only fair to have some fun while his instructors were off watching marches and ceremony. He'd begged to be taken along, to see the glinting ranks of soldiers striding past in real life, to feel the rumble of chariots through his boots, and stare upon the the massive Ach’mult Reapers and Land-striders. The Priests of coursed denied it, claiming something along the lines of his studies being more important than militaristic fervor.

The last tin cavalry unit had just crashed into the final enemy lines when the soft sound again came from the hall: jingling, like a ring of keys. Va’el turned, peering at the gap beneath his bed chamber's double doors, wide fibrous constructs with bronze metal plates. Shadows shifted along the sliver of natural fungal light, and he heard the hiss of whispers. Someone was outside; Silent in his bare feet, he swiftly crossed the cold stone floor, sliding into his bed just as the slid open. The boy closed his eyes, wondering which of the servants was checking on him.

Fungal low-light spilled into the room as the doors opened and someone slipped silently inside. The figure paused, staring at Va’el for a moment, then crept toward his dresser, a ring of ornate hexagonal cubicles carved into the wall opposite his bed. he heard the click of an open lock, the wooden rasp of a drawer sliding open. His heart was racing, none of the servants would dare steal from him…but what if the intruder were something worse than a thief? Then he heard it, a soft, gentle click. Then another, two more! There were other figures outside, resorting to echolocation rather than light. Another figure came through the door, boots clomping, a sword-hilts metal clips jingling like keys on a ring. The figure tromped straight toward his bed before stopping and smacking his boot on the ground twice;

“Your holiness,” he started in a low voice, “it’s time to wake.”

Va’el let out a sigh of relief, he knew the voice well; General Vkain Al’tchakohd, commander of the third Hanzein Legion of the Ahnsijnate had been assigned to him to instruct him on basic military maneuvers.

“The young master has been awake long before we arrived,” Ithrunes Ksaomit’s low voice said, the man pointed to Va’el’s desk, “playing a bit of soldier? A bit of advice, Your Holiness, when pretending to be asleep, it is advisable to better control one's breath.' Va’el sat up with a scowl, eyes flashing to the first figure near his dresser. His Writings Teacher had an annoying knack for seeing through his wide array of deceptions.

“Both of you, what's the meaning of this? Did I miss the gong?”

“Erm, well no Your Holiness, we woke you early as to make good time.” Vkain stated flatly

“Good time? General, where are we going?”

“Erm,” the Man shifted and glanced at Ithrunes; the Priest let out a sigh before speaking, “Young Master we’re moving to Shdant’il-amuraōt, 20km from the Arcthaur.”

“Shdan…Why there…”

He was cut off by Ithrunes, the Priest was noticeably becoming impatient, “Your Holiness if i’m to explain the full story now it’d defeat the purpose of us waking you so early, now lets go.” Tossing him a silk green tunic, with formal golden stitching signature of the Upper-Caste, alongside a pair of formal pants, Ithrunes ushered Vkain outside with him to what Va’el presumed must’ve been a full entourage awaiting him outside. Taking only a moment to gather and put on his clothes he quickly opened the sliding doors to the hallway. Lit a gentle blue-green by the M’tchnesk, an egg-shaped mushroom, he found himself surrounded by four figures: the first two he recognized as Ithrunes and Vkain, but accompanying them were T’kanha Vaodain Jtsa and Aesh Saod Bfilmutzet — his technical and mathematics instructors.

Without a word the group of five moved quickly down the hall, barefeet moving near-silently across the smooth stone floor. There’d been a noticeable lack of Guardsmen as they reached the entrance hall illuminated by a single Brazier in the center of the room. Taking a moment to put on footwear, the group exited the building into a small cavern, a row of braziers on either side of the wall leading toward a Gateway opposite the building which’d been carved directly into the Cavern. The small Enclave housed the Palace Va’el had lived in for the past 8 years of his life, training for his new position. Outside waited nothing but a small carriage and its rider, two six legged insects strapped to the construct tapped their tarsus against the rocky earth — Ai’zaan, given away by telltale soft white fur and feathered antenna.

In moments they were on their way, passing through the rocky corridors of the underground. They’d been travelling for what seemed to be an hour before Va’el felt something was wrong. Maybe it was his grogginess, but he didn’t remember it taking this long to reach the Thaur-Cavern. And not one of the others had spoken a word since leaving the Palace. Adjusting his collar he coughed slightly; “I’d’ve thought we would’ve reached the central cavern by now?”

“We’re taking a backroad, Your Holiness, the Path East is blocked by a Military Convoy.” stated Vkain, flatly, the man looking out the window.

“East? Shdant’il and the Arcthaur are toward the South are they not?” Something was wrong.

Vkain paled and was met with a glare from Ithrunes; In a soft voice spoke, “I-eh, suppose you’re right Young Master…”

“Vkain.” The air hung still as stone, “Where are we going?”

Ithrunes cut the poor man off before he could say anything more, “That is not for you to know right now, Your Holiness.” he stated sternly

“Ithrunes by the power vested in me I demand you tell..” he was cut off by his master: “Be silent,” Ithrunes hissed, “this is for your own safety.”

“My Safety?!”

“Did I say speak again? Keep your voice low. Did we not warn you about the dangers of your position? Have you forgotten your birth?”

Va’el had not forgotten, he’d been born a Middle-Grade Scribe. A Legislature. They’d called for his execution after Ithrunes proposed him as a candidate for Urcilāo. He knew that they’d tried to have him killed formally before his initiation, but they’d never try such a stunt after he was chosen as Urcilāo. Would they? “Th-thats impossible,” he stuttered, “my birth has nothing to do with this, it’s my fate that’s been decided.”

“Are you blind, child?” interjected T’kanha, the woman silencing both of them, “Urcilāo you know full well that no position but Ahnsijn is beyond the Priesthood. I’m happy to explain on the way but please remain quiet until we reach Nquesk.”

Nquesk? They were heading to the surface?!

“With any luck, we’ll be halfway to Lexidus by the time they catch on to us.

Amón almost felt sorry for the creature standing before him, a strange amalgamation of what could only be described as a snake-pit and a woman. Yet, this was coming from a man who crossed the dreaded Mire’s of Asil on the back of a tree-sized spider, so he wasn’t completely surprised when it started talking, almost. The creature, It, was equally dressed in quite the outfit; Her accent was odd, yes, but distinctly Quijainic evident by her pronunciation and vocabulary. She was accompanied by a Lexidian-woman with light grey hair and dressed in Blue, who was introduced as “Chief Merchant” of what he could only assume was the Lexidian equivalent of the Consulate Guilds. Turning to meet the group, he immediately flashed a smile, best to hide his thoughts for now, before doing a slight bow.

“It’s an honor to meet you,” he started, hoping that the creature obviously acting as a translator could understand him despite his dialect, “I was simply looking for a few of my fellow associates, first time on a formal expedition after all.” pausing for a moment to construct himself, he started again; “Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Amón al-Hasiid, Captain of..”

He patted his pockets for a moment before pulling out a thick bronze disk with golden edges; on it were engraved two columns sprouting from a wide trapezoidal base, each column bore 7 —what the squidspawn could only assume where— names in the Kajic alphabet, with the base reading “CONSULATE-PASSPORT”. With these, the center of the medallion exhibiting a strange Diamond-symbol from which sprouted an array of sunbeams running beneath the two columns.

“of the Western Expeditionary Initiative sent on behest of the 6 Consulate Cities; if you’d like to accompany me to my Wagon i’m sure we could have a far more civil conversation away from the crowd?”

Waiting just a moment, Amón turned around and started heading for a cluster of wagons in a circle away from the main hub; upon reaching it he turned left into a squat structure, more of a tent than a carriage but with wheels the size of boulders. Upon entering, the two Lexidians were seated opposite him, split between a small swing-down desk. Hanging from the walls, however, was what easily caught their attention: Scrolls. Similar to the ones they’d seen in the de-facto marketplace only this time open, revealing a treasure trove of foreign symbols, most strangely however, was that they seemed to not be written from side to side, but down. Pulling out a black stone filled with what they assumed was ink, Amón drew a Brush out of a small compartment and began writing;

“Now, to begin with, are there any laws that we should take into account when traversing Lexidus, that or paperwork that’d need to be sorted out here?”

The Grotto-City didn’t have time to react before gusts of dark haze choked the air, and the Yrutan Hordes came crashing down. The dark substance soon followed, choking the light and life out of the river, forcing what soldiers remained to fight in either firelight or in complete darkness. The screams did help in this regard, as most Veiamarr echolocate from a young age, having a constant source of reverberating sound provided ample information in their limited combat against the enemy.

They attacked with swift, brutal, precision; and the guardsmen were tasked with a slew of brand new creatures acting as the fore-guard of the Yrutan Invasion. They were in and of themselves enormous, rivaling in size an Aoxia’a or Vytex easily, with blotchy scales of black, green, and purple. Four legs on either side of their enormous, reptilian hides, and colossal tails almost as long as the necks of the first creatures-encountered. Their worst aspect, by far however, had to be their heads. Stout, thick necks supporting into an armored skull shaped almost like a kite, but instead of a colorful tail flapping in the breeze, it was tipped with a long, black beak, twin mandibles on either side. Four eyes in total staring ominously and furiously at its prey.

It was only minutes before the first gates into the caverns making up the land-portion of Ixaleft cracked open, and a horde of yet another beast charged in. These were smaller, resembling something akin to an albino spider roughly the size of a dog, with large, poisonous spines running along its back. Just as quickly as the gates had cracked were the remaining interior Ixaleft Guardsmen overrun, slaughtered by the onset of a totally unknown enemy.

Kosa woke from a daze by the sound of splintering metal, the octagonal room around him coming into sharp focus. The Commander had been in stuck here for the past week since the failure of the First Expedition to Abyan and the Frontier Colonies. Shifting on his mat, one of 15 others running around the room, the entrance door slid open with a start, and a mix of scribes and guards came rushing in. Barely speaking Kosa and other members of the sick-bay were taken to their feet, and rushed outside.

His thoughts were too sluggish to resist, leaning on one of the guards Kosa and the other Veiamarr of Ixaleft found themselves rushing through the side-corridors. Why were they taking such a long route? His answer came, loudly, when a stone column behind them exploded. Out of the corner of his eye what looked like a tail slammed against the smooth city wall. Kosa’s eyes widened before he winced as purple lighting crackled along hallway and the smell of Ozone filled his nose. A low roar boomed through the cavern as they entered into the quaternary hall, all before one of the guards slammed its twin gate-doors shut.

“W-whats..happening?” He stammered, he felt as if he’d done nothing but drink for the past 6 months. He received no answer as the opposing gate doors slid open, the Scribes leading their motley crew toward the inner docks. The roars of something monstrous echoed through the chamber, the river ran dark with the same substance he’d seen on the expedition. Ahead a slim boat lay docked in harbor, one of four other similarly sized fishing vessels, only this one was much longer, better suited for river travel.

The last thing he remembered was lying back down, a thin cloak being lain over him before he dipped out of consciousness.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

The soft rocking of the boat and Kosa slowly drifted back into reality. Tiny pinpricks of light dotted the cavern ceiling, a tight system reminding him of Ixaleft. Ixaleft. They’d evacuated hadn’t they? Where was he? He sat up with a start to gather surroundings, catching the attention of the scribes. The scribes; they were the ones that got him out of the Sick bay; but why, where were they going? As the rest of his surroundings came into view, it painted a grim picture. They were on a small, thin boat, a messenger craft; the bough curving up into an ornate torch, its fire blazing in the relative darkness. The craft was only equipped with six oars, each manned by guards; him and several others from the sick bay were on the floor near the center.

It took a moment but it quickly dawned on him; it was dark. It’s not as if they’d hit a thinner cave, and it wasn’t as if Kosa was really reliant on sight, but the sudden shock of seeing no natural light was striking to say the least. All that remained were small lichens on the ceiling providing small dots of blue, hardly anything compared to the grandiose rivers he’d seen since birth. Shifting again, he shook his head, he was parched.

“Where are we?” he asked no one

It was one of the scribes, a young woman near the stern, who answered; “We, er, we had to evacuate the city, do you remember that much?”

He blinked in confusion, how much did he remember? “You woke me up; ehrm, then we ran from something.” he froze, remembering the blazing flash of purple, “There was Magic, wasn’t there?”

The scribes all look askance; “Yes.” she responded quietly

He sighed, leaning back; As a Warrior-Caste he’d seen magic before; Heretics along the frontier corrupted in their sleep by the whispers of Yrutas. But it’d always been small, minor, contained. What kind of magic could pollute the rivers, poison the air, and conjure unfathomable beasts? Such was the power of the Gods apparently.

Cool cavern air brushed across his wizened face and he smiled as the long familiar sight came into view. The dazzling city lights below him, the blue-green shine of the rivers cutting through the dark forests speckled with ever so tiny pricks of light. Torchlight dancing across the stones of the temple below his balcony. Even from this height he could see it all, the city bustle of mid-cycle — Everyone must be awake at this point. Scribes attending their duties, Laborers transporting their goods and wares. Smaller temples, tall Ziggurat, lay around the 8 corners of the city; in the distance he could just see a group of flying animals in the distance. Far above him stood the Cavern ceiling; he smiled again, no matter how high he built he was always humbled by God, no matter how distant they may be.

Perhaps if he’d expanded the base? No that’d’ve damaged the Tomb; he grimaced with the thought. Regardless, this temple was the largest in Asil. Axthen’imlaaz, High Temple of the Authority, a vast 4-piece Ziggurat-Pyramid, huge banners of the Authority draped along each corner; its gold-plated pinnacle gleaming above him. Volthazaan, Capitol of Asil, Holy Land of the Kyasii, stood below him, one of the largest, if not the largest in the world, if only counting the population.

He often wondered what cities were like on the surface; could they, primitive and heathenous as they were, even form large settlements? As far as he knew the Rohzai former-nomad’s biggest settlements were ones he had built so in all probability the answer was no. A soft voice called out behind him.

“You called, your Grand Holiness?”

The Ahnsijn turned around, his old features clearly pronounced in the torchlight of the balcony. He rested heavily on an ornate bronze cane, long, dark-green clothing draped over his body beneath an ornate purple robe. The Vydix, a ceremonial headdress of the Ahnsijn, crowned his head — a tall, pyramidal crown made of a mixture of gold and purple-cloth, metal flowing down the back of his head and over his shoulders, molded around his collar bone.

“Zyain’dricka; it’s good to see you.” She was a member of the Curate, one of its senior members at that, having been their at his coronation.

“Is there something you wished, your Holiness?”

“Please, cease the formalities, I lack the time at this point.” He coughed slightly, “I called to tell you something.”

“Your Grand…Ahnsijn?”

“That you truly are a friend and ally;” She looked at him, puzzled

“I-I thank you and think the same of you,” She paused, narrowing her eyes, “is something wrong Ahnsijn?”

“Did I make the right choice?”

“Ahnsijn?”

“To build this, all of this,” he turned around, gesturing to the city below, “To continue the previous Ahnsijn’s work; too continue to look inward, too ignore the outside world as she did.”

“Ahnsijn, you yourself just gestured to your accomplishments; Asil has reached a level of wealth unattainable without your actions.” she moved next too him; “Look out there, yours is a legacy written in more than just stone; you changed the face of the underground!”

“Yet the enemy is at our door yet again, and this time unlike the border skirmishes I fought against. We are unprepared, so if they were coming regardless did I make the right choices?”

“My friend, listen too yourself, they’ve yet to even penetrate Ixthenpijn from what we’ve heard, we —you— still have time to prepare, to rally your people!”

He turned back around, slowly, before looking down slightly and smiling; “I’m afraid not, old friend,” he coughed, “No, no not this time. It seems that my years have finally caught up with me.”

The blood drained from her face, her eyes widened yet she remained expressionless. “Come with me,” the old man in front of her said as he began to slowly walk away from the balcony into the room behind them. It was large, held up by an array of well-carved pillars. The pair moved near silently, barefoot, across the glossy smooth stones beneath them toward a circular indent in the center of a room lined with cushions. The pair sat in silence for a few moments, the old man gazing around him in a mixture of pleasure, complacency, and remorse.

Shifting closer too her, the old man took her right hand into his, patting it fondly; “I wonder how I’ll see the world next.” he said in a soft voice. Leaning back, he breathed out slowly, closing his eyes. Zyain sat motionless; taking his hand she put two fingers on his wrist, but she already knew the answer.

The 315th Ahnsijn was dead.

After a moment of fiddling his hand closed around the thin metal disc below his heart, spinning it tightened the internal wiring keeping his protective cloak, a mixture of the reptilian Aurak Leather and metal plating together. The two-pound mask, a leather hood with a pointed tip and a metal-glass faceplate, fit snugly over his long ears as he tied it’s straps to the metal pins of his Cloaks collar. Finally the gloves, two thick Gauntlets, pieces of clockwork and ornate symbols running along the surface, a triangular metal plate on the back of either palm.

“Baraum! Open the damn windows it’s stuffy enough in here without the masks.” Shykoen barked, his voiced muffled by the leather hood.

There was less of a reply, and more of a slightly annoyed followed by the sliding of oiled metal-on-stone as the thick Asilic-Bronze plates covering the trapezoidal windows. In a moment, a thin stream of soft, blue and green light to enter the room, although they did no better to illuminate it than the braziers in each of it’s four corners. In comparison to most, it was farely large, with a sizable portion of land allocated toward the whole facility — Sadly, though, since a series of Centralization plans, most alchemical facilities had been moved further to the north. By this point, she was nothing more than a scientific and religious outpost for the surrounding region, built only because her land was non-arable and right along the frontier “border” (if the unguarded wilderness could even be considered a border).

There were four of them Baraum and Shykoen who were natives to the Zoulmekt Thaur, alongside Miikāfn from the north (Halthaum to be exact), and finally Vyklōp, a former representative of the Ahkmaur Governance — Having lost his position after the Exams. But they all now shared the same positions as members of the Priest-Caste, they were a company of State Alchemists of the Authority. This was clear from their surroundings, the room was covered in alchemical ingredients, from a variety of metal and clockwork devices, to countless scrolls stuffed away in hexagonal cubicles carved into the stone walls, and in the center, a Zaaden Circle adorned with Asilic Runes. Shykoen grinned beneath his heavy protection mask, his heart racing in anticipation.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

It was only two years ago when he received the first vision, if one could even call it that. He remembered the event clearly too: he’d newly been assigned to this remote and damn-near desolate outpost, all but abandoned after it was decided that the location was simply too remote to be of immediate use. So there he stayed, working on maths and documenting local wildlife for any signs of differentiation from Interior-Species. Then he found himself outside.

He felt the soft, warm air caress his skin, as if a weight had been lifted off of him. He knew he was outside, but never remembered leaving the complex, he was surrounded by the uncut stones of the cavern floor, the thick lichenous mosses that squelched and cracked underfoot, and the thin, wire-like bushes with stalks lined with glowing blue scales. But it was the light that stuck out too him, the blues and greens natural to Asil danced away as the light around him prickled purple, magnificent hues colorizing the world around him. He remembered how is eyes gleamed in wonder as the energies long discussed in the debate halls of the Temple became visual entities too him. A manifestation of God.

He thought he’d gone mad at first, but as he regained himself over those long first few weeks after his first connection, reality burned its way into his mind. He grew too see them more often, flashes of colors around him, flowing like water or smoke through the stalks, vines and externalities of the undergrounds Flora. A myriad, a rainbow of colors, but the one too always stand out; a thick, royal purple. It wasn’t just visuals either, it was as if his mind wasn’t his own, concepts and equations flowed into him all too naturally. At night he saw distinct Zaaden Circles, and specialized equipment previously unknown too him. It was like he was being called out too, to accomplish something, to reach out and take Aēl offered him.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

It was in his head, the world that God promised him — they never believed him, they never could believe him. But he knew it was there, he saw it, it was real and so close. It was so tangible.

Shykoen’s face burned and paled as their mockery and anger intensified; the others at the complex were enraged when they saw what he’d begun to delve into. Untested alchemical research, borderline heretical behavior. They cried out that a madness had taken hold of him and they shunned him for some time until he finally learned to hide the gifts God was giving too him. He would have his time, he sung too himself, he trusted in Aēl not too lead him astray.

That’s when he arrived, Miikāfn; he was small statured overall, a generally confused looking man, but he was curious. He had a love for biology, that much was clear, but he had an all too real knack for reading too far into people’s thoughts. He remembered their first conversation, Miikāfn looking confused, nervous even as he reached into the bronze chest next too his bed, retrieving long hidden scrolls filled with the diagrams he’d drawn.

Three tools, alongside countless equations, was the first to be lain bare before this man he knew very little about — The Hammer and Dagger, to properly Flay the influx of energy, the two Catalyst-bands to concentrate it. He remembered his hand quivering as he reached in to pull out that of most offense: A singular scroll outlining something the others found horrible. A Dodecagonal Zaaden Circle, with 6 Hexagonal Sub-Circles lining it’s exterior.

He remembered his heart fluttering as he saw the wild-eyed grin on his new friends face — this, now this was Alchemy.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Miikāfn was the first to join him, then one of those who’d mocked him of all people — a young woman named Baraum. She herself was brilliant, but hadn’t managed to pass the State Exam with a high enough grade to get her out of Abyan, instead opting to study in Zoulmekt for a little while and thus found herself here. Although while he couldn’t deny her skill in Chemistry and Math, he had to admit that her knowledge and understanding of Alchemy was lackluster at best; she was leagues below State-Ready material.

After Baraum the final member to join their growing Ihlkap —An Asilic term for “Council”, “Club”, or “Society”— was an older man by the name of Vyklōp. To call him eccentric was an understatement, but someone of his Caste could afford to be a little uncultured. Although too be perfectly honest nobody knew, or at least talked about, what got him landed in a Frontier position of all places. But Miikāfn seemed to trust the old man, it didn’t help that he had a knack for rather impressive and convincing speeches, and it wasn’t long until they had a growing group of 34 Disciples from the complex and surrounding area.

And that was the four of them, it didn’t take long from their too route out the more undesirable members of the Temple-Compound and by that point 3 of 5 of the available Alchemists — Vyklōp, Baraum, and himself— were on their side so it wasn’t as if their situation was dire. They even had all the equipment they needed already there, 34mg of Sulfur, 18g of Salt, 12g of combine-powder…everything accept the Zaaden Circle that is.

Shykoen smiled at Baraum’s remark, this really seemed too good to be true.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

His heart raced and he breathed in, the warm air of the mask stuffing his nose as Baraum handed him the Flaying Device and the four of them took positions around the Circle and began the pre-reaction check. It was huge, taking up most of the central hall where they had had to set it up, bronze bowls placed at each of the corners of the Dodecahedron and the circle around it, a series of other smaller devices were centered in each of the 6 outer sub circles. A single stone pillar, almost waist height, was at the center of the entire structure, a small circle marked the top of the hollow center. The vessel filled to the brim with a mixture of a deep red liquid. Nearly two years of work and they were finally here. The First step into a new age.

After Baraum had finished the checks, each of them took their places inside the Zaaden Circle, their disciples taking standing positions around them; Baraum and Miikāfn raised the two Catalyst-Bands, bronze circles inlaid with calligraphic text, the men and women outside of the circle raised both of their hands, making a diamond with their connected Thumb and First-Fingers, and in response, he and Vyklōp raised their tools — it was the two flaying devices that had taken the most time to make, and if it hadn’t been for Zoulmekt having a proper Forge, there wouldn’t be any devices to begin with. The Catalyst Bands only had to be re-enscripted but they had to forge the Devices from scratch. The first device was a large, bronze hammer resembling a warhammer with two flat faces centered by a long metal handle. Two circular metal plates rested on either side of the Eye of the piece, carved with flashing blue symbols. The other device was similar in appearance to a short-sword, with a heightened, cage-like rain-guard reaching up toward a dull blade as thick as his fist, it too bearing blue inscriptions.

He breathed in again, and the process began — it started with a starting flash as the Bands catalyzed the reaction, soft blue light emitting from the rims of each of them. There was a slight pause, his heart raced; they’d worked tirelessly for two years, they couldn’t fail at this point, could they? Everything lay still, there was barely a sound apart from high wine of the Catalyst-Bands, similar to oil being set alight. They were so close…

There was a waive of shock as the Zaaden circle at their feet began to glow; flashes of blue energy beginning to circle around them — the twin Devices began to sparkle with electricity as a definitive sphere of light formed around the four of them. Shykoen began to step forward, clasping the hilt of the Flaying Device

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

They could see it too…Shykoen laughed a little bit as the others began to step back, enraptured by what they started too see around them. The Purple hue took hold of the entire cavern, the backs of their skulls tickled, warmth trading over their chests as they took their first steps. Each thought was another flash of light, a deep blue or a bright red coloring every sound. The high cavern ceiling and walls, meters apart from each other, seemed to warp, breath, in and out with them. Euphoria enveloped every thought.

They smiled, so soft smiles; the man on the floor shaking violently. He’d yelled when he saw what was happening, he screamed all kinds of heresy and hate. Small red droplets fell from his mouth in slow-motion into a growing puddle around him. Flashes of purple swam through it, the deep red pool; it was sad, yes, and avoidable. But it was okay, that they knew, God was here now. Death was soft, and calm now. His dying was beautiful.

Their lips, the great horde of them now, never quivered as Zoulmekt grew in the distance; purple hues danced around their eyes as they sang their songs to God. The men didn’t like it. Four lines of them charged to fight for their city, Asilic-Bronze Swords waiving in the air. One grew near, his teeth bared, Shykoens hand closed around his helmet and he felt warmth flood his mind. It didn’t take long for them to reach the interior of the city, still some fools resisted — purple lightning cracked onto the stone, mens smiles never wavering.

His smile only grew as the Compound where he’d worked for so long now grew in the distance. He cocked his head to the side as the two men outside drew their swords too meet them. The air was slow around him, purple hues dancing just under his eyes. Their eyes rolled white as they collapsed, the large bronze doors of the compound melted at his touch. It was sad; but God was here now.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Shykoen took another step toward the Vessel in the center of the Zaaden Circle. The room was still in anticipation, no other sound escaped it’s silence apart from the soft hum of the Catalyst-Bands. He looked up for only a moment, a frown forming on his face as the sound of shouts echoed outside. Cracks of electricity were suddenly silenced and he took another step forward, the vessel just below the tip of the Flaying-Device in his hands.

He plunged it into the core of the Vessel, and a flash of purple shone through he room. The circle at their feet shifted hues, as did the sphere of light and zephyrs of energy that new shone throughout the grand hall. The top layer of powder reacted instantly too the dull blade, melting and liquidizing into a thick, dark red substance. His eyes locked on the doorway as it burst open and shouts from the outside entered the room. Strange, it was only mild annoyance that he felt as the view of four of his disciples dead outside came too him, followed by the dark bodies of Vvain Warrior-Caste charging into the hallway. Vyklōp payed their shouts to cease no mind, and his hammer struck the pommel of the first Device.

The Warriors still outside stopped for a moment, the caverns around them starting to shake. The Compound in front exploded, and was quickly engulfed in purple flames. The ground below them cracked and churned, and they were engulfed in smoke.
Any other info you wish to add (Optional): My first nation, Ovandera, I more started to explore the ideology, but in practice this has drastically hindered what I was capable of doing with the country, my hope with Wàhngjāu is that in playing from a perspective that forces me to actively seek out international actions (be them hostile or diplomatic) in the name of Economic security, I and the region will get a better roleplay experience and regional canon while also allowing me to experiment with ways to better utilize Ovandera.

We apologize for taking so long in approving your request but from what we've seen, we like it. One thing we'd have to note though is your population should be reflected in your RP. 12 million in such a small space lends to RP opportunities. Urban vs suburban vs farming. High rises vs. shanti towns. What happens when people die? You've got 12 million in a tight place. We'd love to hear how you deal with it... unless you want to lower your population to accommodate your dream nation.

I'm happy to lower the population to anything acceptable, I'm not set on it and was trying to find something that indicated that it was small (in comparison to its neighbours which as based on Asian demographics tend to have higher than average populations) but still had enough of a population to have enough of a 'voice' in its surrounding region.

For an explanation, I'd imagined the island of Burmondsy to be relatively mountainous (at least in the interior), as partly shown by my map in the sandbox, with most of the population living in larger cities such as Kyukyo, Asuka, Koya and Nakai, as well as the plains of Kuroitsu. As it's rather urban with limited farming space I imagined it'd need to import a good deal of food, which would require it to make friends and allies outside of its immediate area considering its bad relations with Newrey and Ashihara. As for urban planning it's not really my forte, but I had based Nanto off the smaller 'Asian Tigers' (i.e. Signapore, Taiwan) and so I'd likely follow their patterns in terms of urban and economical development.

IC nation name: In Steorratunge officially called Steorrna cynewīse, "Steorrna Commonwealth.” Ytemestland and Ytemestness, "farthest land," are traditional names in Steorratunge. Foreigners (and occassionally natives) will typically call it Steorrnaland, similar to the Deutschland/Germany dichotomy. People are referred to as Steorra in the singular and Steorrna in the plural. Sterra is the adjectivial form.
Capital: Ēadiġehæfen, "Blessedhaven," colloquially called sēo Hæfen, and most often, Hæfen.
Government type: Ytemestland is a parliamentary republic with elements of direct democracy. Despite being a republic, Ytemestland retains a system of hereditary peers, ealdormen, who are delegated religious and cultural functions.

The parliament is called the Miċelþing. The upper house, the Witenaġemōt, is composed of hereditary nobility, members of the academia (typically appointed representatives of a university) and clergy who are elected by the laypriests. The original function of the Witenaġemōt was to advise the monarch and to approve the collection of taxes. Governments may not usually be formed in the Witenaġemōt, but it can govern in itself in cases of failure in the lower house.

The lower house, the Eallfolcġemot, is composed of the elected representatives of the people. The Eallfolcġemot evolved from a yearly national gathering held during the fourth week of July, where the ruler(s) would distribute rewards, lands, settle the highest judicial trials and collect taxes, along with various other administrative functions (a la the Alþing in Iceland.) Regular people could come to petition the government at this assembly. This is still the case, any citizen backed by a petition signed by 500 voters can come to petition the government during the traditional fourth week of July. The largest political party in the Eallfolcġemot will traditionally elect its leader as the Hēahþegen, or Prime Minister.

The Sterra system of direct democracy is quite strong. It is a historical tradition which has been in place since the Settlement. There are no provincial divisions, only municipal scīre, subdivided into Hundreds. Scīre are served by assemblies, called Folcġemot, and Hundreds are served by Underfolcġemot. These sub-legislative bodies establish laws in the community, are delegated portfolios by the Eallfolcġemot and are presided over by Lawspeakers. Any voter within the demesne of the Folcġemot or Underfolcġemot may attend, participate in and vote on proceedings. They are also responsible for coordinating elections to the Eallfolcġemot and for holding frequent referenda. They are also responsible for the election of various officials, such as the scīrgerefa and the rēfa.
RP population: 5,517,887
Ethnic Group(s): Steorrna are the primary inhabitants of Ytemestland, forming 92.7% of the population. Due to a highly strict immigration regime, and geographical remoteness it has been difficult for large quantities of people to immigrate. Most immigrants are from other nearby Asuran nations, a sizeable minority is from Arabekh.
Language(s): Steorratunge, or Old English, is the primary language of Ytemestland. There is a strong and influential language purity movement in Ytemestland, due to this the language has been resistant to loanwords and most change since the Settlement. Modern day Steorrna can almost perfectly (with footnotes of course) understand the ancient poetry, talu, that was recorded over 800-years-ago.
GDP per capita (USD): US$46,342/capita. This and the population figure were taken from Finland.
HDI: 0.920
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): I would want to flesh out this history with the whole group, but here is the overarching structure I have in my head. The Steorrna migrate from somewhere in Asura (perhaps they were a sister tribe of the inhabitants of Newrey?), potentially during a Migration Period-like event or fleeing defeat in some conflict or famine. They come to an uninhabited island and establish a republic, with a similar society and government to Saga-age Iceland.

After a massive volcanic eruption in the early Middle Ages, a period known as the Anarchy begins. The parliamentary system is destroyed and replaced with a monarchy. Due to popular resentment the King reconvenes the parliament, albeit with a diminished role. The monarchy retains significant power but is constantly in conflict with the nobility and the parliament, who are usually backed by large segments of the population due to the importance of loyalty and local connections in Sterra culture.

Ytemestland was converted to Alydianism in the Early Middle Ages, in this process two distinct Alydian traditions evolved within Ytemestland, the High and Low. High Sterra Alydianism was the official faith of the elite and the nation, and was kept in full communion with the Orthodox Church. Low Sterra Alydianism was syncretic with the traditional pagan faith of the Steorrna, and was practiced among the laity. This version of the Faith absorbed traditional Sterra deities and used them in place of the Eight Manifestations of God. It also retained several pagan concepts, the most important and notable being holy groves, idol worship and offerings (usually in the form of valuables) to the gods.

In a period of national awakening, the lay-clergy began to advocate for the elevation of the more popular Low Alydianism to the national faith. A divide between conservative and reformist groups in the Orthodox Church lead to the Civil War, culminating in the deposition of the monarchy and the reinstatement of the Commonwealth and the establishment of the Reformed Church.

A coalition of various other Asuran monarchies intervene with the intent to restore the Monarchy and traditional religion. The new government manages to repel the invaders, but Ytemestland is forced to concede several minor overseas possessions it has acquired, effectively barring Ytemestland from participating in Imperialism. From then on it takes a position of neutrality, and focuses inward. Ytemestland does participate in the Great War as co-belligerent. The period after the Great War sees the left-wing and (slightly) nationalist Sterra Labour Party takes control of the Eallfolcġemot and the introduction of social democracy, with "Sterra charateristics".
Map claim (Imgur): Edreland's spot. There was talk of it being redesigned, if so my preference would be for it to be reduced to just one island (with a few islets around it) and moved farther north.

Geography and climate of nation: I'm thinking the climate will be similar to that of Northern England, very mountainous, with large forested areas, wolds and moors. Ytemestland is very cool and rainy, the Ocean serves to mediate the winters. Large areas of land have been cleared for farming, but there still remain large amounts of untamed land.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Ytemestland acts as a minor middle power. With a strong economy and stable government it will seek to advance humanitarian causes abroad, but due to its populations position of wealth and slight propensity to nationalism and neutrality it will actively resist integration into the Asuran Community. Ytemestland will not have a large army, but as a maritime country it will have a well developed and highly skilled (though not particularly large) navy. The government of Ytemestland is avowedly environmentalist, and will seek to advance those concerns. It will act more as an international mediator than participant.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: I'm happy to do it in any way! I think have a slightly unstable government would be interesting. I can also reduce the GDP per capita and the HDI.

How did you hear about Aeia? I got a telegram I think when I re-founded.
What other nations do you use on NS? None.
Roleplay sample (Optional, though required for claiming a more powerful role): None currently.

Any other info you wish to add (Optional): Nope.

Government type: Constitutional monarchy
RP population: 31,245,000
Ethnic Group(s): various High Alemanic and Low Alemanic groups
Language(s): Tewthon (similar to Standard German), Sigairish, Falian
GDP per capita (USD): 21,200
HDI: 0.788
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):

The Kingdom of Tewthony is landlocked between Brenzhem, Kavalerilant, Beoshire and Tyronova. First mentioned as such in the Middle Ages, Tewthony has historically been made up of several states. It wasn’t until the 18th century for the country to get united. Up until industrialization kicked in, the economy had been agriculture-based, though the country developed into a mostly industrialized one, mostly during the 19th and early 20th centuries. During the Great War, internal instabilities grew, which errupted into the Valley War (named after the industrialized valley it started in) in the 1910s which ended in a victory for the government troops. Having been an absolute monarchy for centuries, it is a constitutional monarchy since the civil war in 1925-1927. Lately, the country is experiencing changes to the economy, namely deindustrialization as the mining industry is increasingly becoming smaller and the service sector is becoming more dominant.

The main natural resources are black coal, iron and to some extent wood. As the mining industy is shrinking, the nation now increasingly imports raw materials. Tewthony’s main exports include machinery, food and to some degree, raw materials, the latter also being amongst the main imports.

Map claim (Imgur):

Geography and climate of nation: The centre of the nation is relatively flat, with mountains along parts of the western border and to the east of Sigairen.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): The location could be seen as important, though it would probably have been a weakness for much of the country’s history as the many smaller states would have been vulnerable to outside invasions. To this day, there would still be a lot of regionalism, which might cause separatism. The economy is probably a strength and so are the natural resources.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reducing the GDP/capita, population, even more regionalism. Perhaps, the economy could also be struggling.

Currently your GDP nominal stands at an estimated 662.4 billion. For the most part your GDP is fine, however your population is a bit high. While I am not opposed to this, it makes your country greater than or equal to other countries than other non-landlocked countries that would potentially border you, minus Tyronova. For reference, I'd reduce this population to about less than 30 million people. As a second note, Tewthony doesn't really sound German nor a country name, which a different person pointed out to me which I felt necessary to mention here. I am not going to require a change in name but what I am going to do is to heavily suggest that you change the name. Sigarish and Falian okay by me, but Tewthony is recommended to change. Other than that, I do not see any other problems, and give my first acceptance.

RP population: 10,161,797
Ethnic Group(s): Nordic, Scandinavian, Native, Other
Language(s): Rosenian

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):

In 52 CE Human Settlers first arrived on the Island nation from Asura. They landed at Port Azure named after the continent of Asura. They regarded the nation as Mountainous with a humid temperature. They had imported Cows and Sheep which provided them with Food. They remained relatively uninterrupted for many years establishing a Monarchy and exploring the island. They were first contacted by a Lhedwinic Nation Who mapped down the island and left shortly after. This nation is unknown and remains disputed between nationals. The Island Nation was visited mainly by merchants and trades for the next few centuries. By 1832 the Island was taken by the United Kingdom of Lhedwin. During the Great War the Nation declared independence on December 18th 1899 and appealed for help. They achieved their independence shortly after. They Remained Neutral trying to build up the Nation forming a healthy Democracy. During this time a wildly controversial act was put forward stating all Parents must have a Minimum of 2 children. This was great for the population but was repealed during the Early 2000s. The Nation has since tried to integrate into Asuran Politics and build relationships around the world.

Geography and climate of nation: The Eastern Coast is comprised of steep snow capped mountains while it is Flat Plains and Rolling hills in the Centre and South. The West is a collection of small Islands and lakes. In the North the arctic temperature means that the land is inhospitable.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): The Nation is an Island and shares no Borders with neighbors and has a functioning Navy. Due to it’s position however it has very few natural resources.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce the GDP OR population.

How did you hear about Aeia? I heard about it when I was searching for a new Region
What other nations do you use on NS? This one only.
Roleplay sample (Optional, though required for claiming a more powerful role):

SVT 1:Coverage of the Socialdemokratiska Party conference

"Good evening we are on the final day of the Social DemokratistaParty Conference in Korasburg where Party Candidate Hopefuls will battle It out the stage. Party Candidate Front Runner Christina Androgus the incumbent Home Secretary is predicted to win by a 5 point margin between her nearest competitor Nathan Johansson the MP for lower Rosenburg. Earlier Today Prime Minister Skjœrdhan publicly announced his support for Androgus along with 42.6% of all SDP Party Members.

Christina Androgus: 42.6%
Nathan Johannson: 38.9%
Paul Skartiskia: 10.8%
Andrew Nillson Boycot: 3.1%
Undecided: 4.9%

The undecided vote shot up dramatically yesterday after Karl Karllson Former Speaker of the House was embroiled in a Scandal that forced him to resign. We now go live to the Debate in the Hall. with our correspondant Markus Hughen

"Good evening Ms Androgus, Mr Johannson and Mr Skartiskia. You each will be asked a series of Questions voted on by the Public. By the end of this 1 hour segment the results will be announced.

The First Question is for Nathan Johannson on the issue of Immigration. Due to your Open Borders approach what will your plan be if there is a sudden influx of Immigrants?"

"Well thank you first of all Markus. To answer your question Immigration is a key strategy to boosting our Economy and Quality of life. In the next 10 to 20 years we will see our Native Citizen Average Age hit 62 higher then it has ever been. With young immigrants entering our nation we can survive the next Decades and provide shelter to those fleeing Poverty and War. Unlike Androgus I care about our Citizens. Past, Present and Future. Her Heartless policies would ruin our nation and would ultimately lead to our collapse."

"Thank you Mr Johannson. Your time is up. Now to you Mrs Androgus. Can you explain your Immigration Policies."

"Thank you Markus. My Immigration policies put Security at the top. Security is of upmost importance-

Suddenly a man rushes toward the stage. He puts out a pistol and begins to fire at Androgus. He fired off two shots before being subdued. Androgus collapses in a pool of blood as Security rush into the hall.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Essentially, the island chain was split up between various kingdoms, city-states, and small, quarelling island countries. It was in lace when the island were discovered by (Midrasians), in the 1490s/early 1500s. The growing presence of (Europeans) in the islands, caused the empire to buckle and collapse as it was divided by disease and western influence. Midrasia then colonized the post-empire islands. They controlled the islands for several centuries, until the demand to control the colony became too stressful with Rennque and Savai, and the islands were occupied/or taken by Newrey and the (mid 18th century.) The change in ownership led to larger rebel movements and Midrasian and Newreyan trade companies grew stronger over the islands. Newrey continued to control the islands until the 1950s, when they were forced to give the area independence, however Midrasia retained a small portion of the islands of Renneque.
