I've heard that scoring highly on the ASVAB or whatever will let you have a choice of what career you'll have, it's just that you can't choose your location, only list prefs for that. Definitely asking the recruiter about that though.

Here is how it works:

1) Go to MEPS.
2) ASVAB. If you score high enough they will make you do more tests.
3) Medical things.
4) Talk to a guy. He pulls up a big list of things you can sign for on his computer and gives you shipping dates. You can usually tell him if you have a specific job in mind and he'll be able to see if there's a need for that type of personnel at the time or sometime in the future. No promises you will get the job you want but they are generally accommodating and try to see if they can make it work, so have several jobs in mind when you go.
5) You sign your contract for 2-6 years, depending on your job and branch, and you're done. It's actually an 8-year contract because the Individual Ready Reserve, but that's kind of whatever.
6) You get a shipping date where you're supposed to go the recruiter's office and you're taken to basic training in a bus or van, or whatever.

And if they don't have what I want available, I can simply say I'll check back in a few weeks and refuse to sign on?

I'm working on the idea of a 12-hour ration whose main objective is to sustain an infantryman or other combat personnel within the first hours of expeditionary warfare.

RCIRs would be carried within the IFV or APC (Or not at all), however the idea behind this ration would be simple to eat but be energy dense to maintain peak performance over 12 hours, with the ability maintain peak and near-peak performance for a period of time upto 72 hours. I'd like to make it as dense as possible, however I'd like to also to make it not dumb like a paste or whatever since that would fuck with your digestive system or increase your water intake.

I'd like to draw allot of inspiration from something like first strike, but with even less need for water.

I'm thinking like oral glucose, caffeine gum, candy, etc.

Also these rations will be issued with whatever amphetamines I'll give to dudes who are going to fight so they can be 110% better.

Aims are easy to consume, out of hand, energy dense foods for use during extended fighting to re energize soldiers.

2x Isotonic Beverage Mix, 400ml, mix in pouch. Resealable. Separate formula closer to hypotonic quality for warm weather environments.

What are some local foods then, even snack foods? It would be worth it to go a little bulkier and add in minor touches from home in that regard. I include some fortified barley snack bread and meat/fish/chick pea/garlic paste in my assault rations for that reason. The bulk of the assault rations are still candy and bars like soldier fuel or whatever, but there is always that little bit of home.

As an aside, I know you're doing the frog thing, is it metropolitan France or any of the colonials?
