Originally, drug possession was punishable with the death penalty. However, due to shifts in public opinion and pressure from international human rights organizations, this stance has slowly changed. As of right now, possession of controlled substances can be punished with a maximum of 2 years in prison.

As for how clean the average citizen would find your cities, they would probably find them to be quite clean, almost on par with Teienshi, but not quite.

Due to our democratic principles, most of us do not hold a high opinion of monarchs with actual power. However, there are many in our population who still hold reverence towards Emperor Akihito and Queen Elizabeth II, even though neither are our official head of state.

Teienshi has many landmarks, but one of the most famous is Teienshi Tower. Located in the prefecture of Hamilton, it is the tallest structure in the city.

Teienshi has a universal healthcare system in which the government covers the majority of medical expenses.

Homosexuality was legalized in 1982, and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation was banned in 2013. In 2015, a new law was passed that allowed transgender people to legally change their gender without surgery. Although same-sex marriage is not recognized yet, one of the official positions of the Party for Liberty, the current ruling party, is to hold a referendum on the issue in the next two years.

While technically allowed, driving a car within Teienshi requires a special permit that is often quite expensive. Furthermore, there are ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) stations located throughout the city, particularly in areas that often experience major traffic congestion. For these reasons, car ownership, though not unheard of, is thought of as a luxury exclusive to the upper classes.

Although we do technically have a space program, it is quite limited. We have domestically built several satellites, mainly for communication purposes, but we have had to collaborate with other space agencies, mainly Japan's JAXA, in order to launch them into space.

Yes, about 8.6% of Teienshi's population is ethnically Chinese, and one prefecture in particular - Little Shanghai - has a majority Chinese population.
