IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:

The islands of Cordosia, or Halaso Noroko as the islands were previously known by the indigenous population, were at one point home to a number of native maritime states. The largest of which was the Kingdom of Bian Malali (lit. two rapids) which was consolidated around the fortified coastal city of Himebishi. The Malalian kings expanded their rule throughout the Cordosian isles, conquering and absorbing other smaller entities and tribes. Due to the location of the isles and the agricultural resources native to the island the Malalian Kingdom become a center of economic activity in the western North Thalassan Ocean. The Malalian state began to decline in the 1400s, eventually culminating in the Great Revolt of 1402. The Great Revolt saw the uprising of the lower castes of society as well as conquered and repressed peoples from the eastern half of the Cordosian isles. This revolt and the following instability would eventually lead to the Malalian Kingdom’s collapse. The period between the collapse of the Bian Malali and the arrival of Belisarian settlers saw the Cordosian isles ruled by a number of local governing entities, focused around larger settlements and relatively isolated from foreign affairs.

The first Belisarian voyage to Cordosia arrived in 1512 with the arrival of Latin explorers. The settlement of Placidia (alternatively spelled as Plácidia) was one of the first permanent Belisarian settlements on the island and became an important center of commerce in North Thalassan trade. The colonial era saw the further expansion of Belisarian, predominantly Latin, settlements throughout the Cordosian Isles. The Cordosian economy was primarily fueled by the trade of sugar, tobacco, and other new world cash crops. Over time, the fusion of the native Malalian culture and Latin / southern Belisarian settlers lead to the emergence of a distinct society, culture, and language which differed from the Romance peoples of the Belisarian continent. The growing divide between the two societies, compounded with the desire for political change, eventually culminated in the Cordosian War of Independence in 1819. The islands secured their independence on July, 9th 1822 and formed a democratic republic.

The post-Independence era saw Cordosia set about on the path to modernization and transitioning away from a largely agricultural based economy. This was not without issue, of course. Though the republic was growing steadily throughout the latter half of the 19th century the divide between rich and poor grew seemingly exponentially. The republic saw the formation of a plutocratic oligarchy, consolidated around the wealthy upper urban class. Tensions boiled over in 1905 leading to a series of conflicts between the various factions in the Democratic Republic known as the Cordosian Civil War. The Civil War lasted until 1918 and saw the rise and fall of a number of provisional governments. The Treaty of San Vicente in 1918 saw the emergence of a coalition government between the once opposed National Revolutionary Front and the Popular Catholic Party and an end to open hostilities. The two factions merged under President Françisco Sosa, developing a post-colonial socialist ideology unique to Cordosia known as “Soberanism” (derived from Cordosian, soberanía meaning sovereignty). The Popular Revolutionary Party adopted this ideology, a fusion of revolutionary socialism, Christian democracy, and anti-imperialist thought, and set about enshrining its ideals into the constitution. Under Sosa the Cordosian Republic underwent a period of transformation, seeing the creation of strong workers unions and sweeping land reform. The Popular Revolutionary Party has maintained political hegemony into the modern day, largely due to the legacy of the success during the early years of the party. However, the dominance of the PRP has been challenged in recent years. The New Labor Party emerged as a strong contender to the PRP in the 1990s, running on a platform of market socialism and social liberalism.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?:
Mexican Spanish, Italian, Latin, K'iche', Arawak.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?:
Ethnically diverse, the majority of the population identifies as Mestizo. Following the Mestizo population there is a significant Afro-Caribbean (unsure what to call the regional equivalent at the moment). In certain areas there are still significant minority communities of native K’iche’ and Arawak peoples. In addition, there are minority immigrant communities which arrived during the several waves of immigration from 1790 - 1870.
d) What are the major religions among your population?:
Predominantly Fabrian Catholic.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?:
Definitely a smaller role, however potentially serving as a point of interest in the Pond. It would potentially be beneficial for the larger powers to influence Cordosia for economic and strategic purposes. However in the grand scheme of things I don’t see Cordosia being a huge player, perhaps more concerned with getting what they want through soft power and trade.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.):
The Cordosian Revolutionary Armed Forces is largely a self defense force which is tasked with the defense of the Cordosian Isles. The CRAF consists of a total of 192,000 men and women (92,000 active and 100,000 reserve)
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures:
Cordosia has a few innate strengths. It has a decent sized population, is an island country, and is relatively wealthy. However it has a number of key weaknesses. It is surrounded by much larger, more powerful nations which has led to a more nuanced approach to foreign policy, again focused on soft power as opposed to military force. Cordosia also lacks certain resources (such as petroleum and some precious metals) which the country relies on imports for. The political situation as of 2018 in Cordosia is also a major flashpoint, the decline of the traditionally dominant PRP and the growing popularity of alternative parties could be disastrous for the nation’s political process if the PRP responds in a repressive / undemocratic manner.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?
Yes. Either through reducing population, GDPPC, or by adding more resources the country is dependent on for in terms of imports.

IC Geographical/resource

c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $37,739.44
d) Nation's type of government: Federal Presidential Republic.
e) Nation's head of state: David Clark.
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): David Clark.

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Quiet, beautiful, colorful. Platerdam is a small power with a strong economy; developing and growing in several industrial and technological sectors. A rising country with a very high standard of living, it upholds a social security and universal health care system, environmental protection, and a tuition-free university education.

Of course, this didn't came off easy. Platerdam was colonized in 1722. After a series of unsuccessful uprisings, Platerdam, under the leadership of Thomas Avery, declared independence on May 8th, 1802. This began the Platerdammer War of Independence. Sovereignty was only attained after Christopher Bowers Booth, aided by Chester Mathis and Ezekiel Clements, won the Battle of Dalelry on February 14, 1804. The colors of the colonial Platerdammmer flag were gold and red: the gold stands for land wealth and the red for the blood shed by the heroes of independence.

In 1899, Matthias Quigly, assisted by his friend Elbert Hershey, seized power in Plata, marching an army from his base in Dalelry. Quigly defaulted on Platerdam's considerable foreign debts and declined to pay compensation to foreigners caught up in Platerdam's civil wars. This led to the Platerdammer Crisis of 1902–1903, in which several countries imposed a naval blockade of several months before international arbitration at the new Permanent Court of Arbitration was agreed. In 1908, another dispute broke out, which was resolved when Quigly left for medical treatment in a foreign country and was promptly overthrown by Elbert Hershey.

Hershey remained the most powerful man in Platerdam until his death in 1935, although at times he ceded the presidency to others. The dictatorship system largely continued under Sam Callahan, but from 1941, under Sam Callahan, was relaxed. Callahan granted a range of reforms, including the legalisation of all political parties.

The election of Wesley Farrell in 1973 coincided with the 1973 world crisis, in which Platerdam's income exploded as prices soared. This led to massive increases in public spending, but also increases in external debts, which continued into the 1980s when the collapse of prices during the 1980s crippled the Platerdammers economy. As the government started to devalue the currency in February 1983 to face its financial obligations, Platerdammers' real standards of living fell dramatically. A number of failed economic policies and increasing corruption in government led to rising poverty and crime, worsening social indicators, and increased political instability.

Economic crises in the 1980s and 1990s led to a political crisis in which hundreds died in the riots of 1989 and two attempted coups d'état in 1992, the ambient didn't looked good for Platerdam. Several socialist movements were starting to rise and the government was losing balance. In 1999, Jeremy Mays was elected as president and influenced the government to fix the Platerdammer crisis, by disbanding all the civil movements and keeping the goal of maintaining a strong economy.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: English and Italian.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Detailed chart.
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Detailed chart.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: A quiet small nation. Completely neutral on wars and conflicts until we're attacked directly. Participant in diplomatic issues with a right-wing ideology, aids countries in crisis.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): Platerdam doesn't approve the use of violence in any ways against other countries. That being said, the world is not perfect and Platerdam has been involved in several private conflicts. Platerdam haves a small military (approx. 4% of the national population. 475,827 in total). Useful for small wars.

It's divided by:
  • Federal Army, headed by the Marshal of the Federal Armies.
  • Federal Navy, headed by the Admiral of the Federal Fleet.
  • Federal Air Force, headed by the Marshal of the Federal Air Force.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures:

Platerdam's peaceful nature makes it difficult to affect the regional powers.

Our biggest weakness is our small military, only useful for small conflicts. But, not useful in a great war. It definitely won't be able to overthrow a powerful country.

Platerdam's investment goes to Education, we believe that the greatest warriors uses words instead of swords. Diplomacy is our greatest strength, we can be able to form good relationships with powerful countries.

Our economy is currently rising from a crisis, so, it's not strong. Our current investments goes to Technology and Book Publishing. Our economy could easily crash down to rubble in a second.

h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Stopping to invest in Culture and Education.

IC Geographical/resource

6: Roleplay history

I don't RP a lot. Mostly because I'm lazy. But, here is a extract of a private conflict I had in my old region a few months ago.

''Air Defence Forces Headquarters - 05:58 - Monday, March 26
In two minutes, Operation Prodigy will be initiated

-A**hole commies, thinking they can attack peace and freedom, I'm going to enjoy so much when those bombs hit.- said Capt. McCourtney, while he observed the preparation of the H-77C missile.

The missile was reserved years ago for a moment like this, since the Accitanian war. With the Spainard/Germania conflict solved, the national defence forces could finally focus on Asturiosia. Platerdam has warned countries to prepare their armies, just in case Asturiosia decided to bring their tyranny internationally. But, this isn't a ''I told you so'' moment... is more like an: ''Holy crap, we were right''.

-What do you think, Sergeant?- asked McCourtney, to Sgt- Harris, a national war hero that fought in many recent conflicts. It was clear they needed his aid in the Operation Prodigy.

-Commies gettin' what they deserve. I think it's a marvel.- said the Sergeant, while a few chuckles from him and from the people in the room were heard due to the smug commentary.

The chuckles were stopped due to the imminent launch alert. Ten Mississippi, Nine Mississippi, Eight Mississippi, the countdown started, the screen displayed the countdown, it was a classified issue, so, no National Broadcastings yet. Three Mississippi, Two Mississippi, One Mississippi.

Zero Mississippi.

The moment has come; It's 06:00 am, most platerdammers are waking up, the national flag is risen in the parliament. And as soon, as the national anthem started to sound in the national radio, the missile was launched. Platerdam saw the H-77C missile fly through the air, while hearing the notes of their beautiful anthem.

Platerdam's participation in the Asturiosian conflict has begun.''

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: The Republican Imperium of Greater Ertolia (Imperial Ertolia)
b) Nation's IC population: 45,650,000 - 54,750,000 (Depends on how I end up splitting up the population in the province creation but in that range)
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: 32,000 - 37,000 (Same as Population and depends on what the population ends up, also within that range)
d) Nation's type of government: Monarchical Confederation; Tripartite State with a Council of 3 Princes acting as Executive, and Fully Elected Lower House of Parliament and Partially Election Upper House of Parliament.
e) Nation's head of state:
Juliana Auken-Iselia I, Grand Duchess of (State to be Named)
Nicolas Kelira IV, Prince of (State to be Named)
Alexio Peratta II, Prince of (State to be Named)
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): (Same as Head of State)

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:
Greater Ertolia is an Ethnically divided Confederation of three technically Sovereign but effectively Unified Monarchies. The history of the nation is roughly summarized in a series of bloody wars largely fought between the Grand Duchy of Ghrenel in North and Eastern Ertolia, and the Principalities of Alvir-Velca in the East and Isvere in the South.

The Modern Age of Ertolia meanwhile is highlighted by the largest and most deadly of all these wars, with no clear victor and the toll taken on the population and the economies of all three states involved the leaders of the three states would come together to form a treaty to lay down the foundation and framework that has lead to the three into an open alliance and Quasi-Unification that has since brought peace to the Ertolians.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Undecided; will heavily depend on neighboring nations and other factors (like who ends up having history in the area and what nations end up being immigrant forces in the area)

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Two main groups with neither having a Majority. The first and more populous is a more standard Nordic People mainly focused in the Eastern and Southern Principalities. The second being a more custom people (The Ghantar where suggested as a possibility) focused mainly around the Grand Duchy of the North and West.

d) What are the major religions among your population?: Will partially depend on what religions have already been established and where, but I do have an idea for a modernized pagan religion focused in the South.

e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Impossible to determine, would require more information of the already established nations on the map.

f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): ~246,500 Manpower & ~39 Billion (NSD) Budget.
Like most of the nations that I have developed. It has a larger military with significant capacity in both manpower and equipment, but decentralized lead and funded on the State Level instead of at the Imperial Level. With no real central command it has the ability to project its power if it weren't for the petty bickering and infighting between the different Monarchs of the Grand Duchy and Principalities. Non-the-less the Military Forces of the three has a common structure with a Land Army, Navy, and Marine Force with an Airforce that is almost entirely devolved into the Navy and Army.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: No significant strength in any main area. With a Moderate Population Size, Economic Output, and Military Power but being able to bring little of it to bare due to its internal divisions and political instability.

h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? Would require discussion.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: Hydrogen Fuel Cells, and other Green Tech.
b) What does your nation need to import?: Consumer Goods, Foodstuff, etc
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: Grains, Some Foodstuff.
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? Pink nation northeast of Caprica

Regional history
a) Were you recommended to Ajax?: Technically, no.

General information
a) Time on Nationstates: One day.
b) Previous regions:
  • The West Pacific (current).
c) Other nations:
  • N/A

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: Nordurheim
b) Nation's IC population: 5.233 million
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $70,812.48
d) Nation's type of government: Sort of an elected monarchy, where the constituencies are ruled by dukes, free cities, guild masters, etc. They "elect" the monarch by siding with him/her and keeping the monarch in power. It is also democratic because the rulers of the constituencies are responsible to democratically elected councils that can remove them from power if they have to.
e) Nation's head of state: King Harald Thordúrsson
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): N/A

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Nordurheim is a Nordic country that has existed for centuries, drawing upon a history stretching back into millennia. It is composed of various constituent states, ranging from duchies and principalties to free cities and guild cities. Historically, these cities operated on their own, paying tribute and working together for protection with a King or similar authoritative figure. Commonly, these kings would go to war with each other and with other countries, but eventually, one king came to rule the entire island. Such has been the tradition for centuries, so the constituent states could not imagine propping up a rival king to split Nordurheim again.

Today, these states have democratically elected councils as a result of a popular uprising against several oppressive regimes across the country, and the King made changes to the national government, declaring that Nordurheim would have more democracy. That democracy only goes as far as the states, though, since the King holds power absolutely. However, the King can be deposed if enough states withdraw their support, in which case the King will get the message and put up a suitable successor that the states will agree to. This hasn't happened in over a century.

The country itself is made up of several regions, with the shoreline region surrounding the island with a short break where fjords are present. In the center, there are mountains, with elevations varying from giant hills to respectable near-alpine ranges. There are forest patches in the south of the nation, but most places are barren in the north. The north coast is frozen much of the year, and in the summer, it is an ideal place for tourists to come and see the giant icebergs floating by.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Norwegian, Icelandic, other Old Norse descendant languages.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Mainly Norse, some immigrant populations if possible, in the free cities and guild cities.
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Various pagan religions, maybe Christianity in some places. Some minority religions can be present.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: No idea, I'm just here for the fun!
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The military would be focused on keeping its seas safe and its borders secure. Due to the old fragmented history of Nordurheim, the constituencies of the country have their own defense forces, but the King has a standing army, navy, air force, etc., and can call upon the constituent defense forces if it is needed. The total (trained) manpower would be in the hundreds of thousands, but only a healthy portion of that would be active at any given time. The budget given to these armed forces is of course dependent on the constituent states, although the King allots several tens of billions to the national force.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Nordurheim will be part of NATA, and come to the defense of its allies. A communist state is about to invade one of ours, so it will try to protect the attacked nation.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I would do what is needed after discussing with you guys. Probably reduce the military or economy.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: petroleum and petroleum products, machinery and equipment, metals, chemicals, ships, fish
b) What does your nation need to import?: machinery and equipment, chemicals, metals, foodstuffs
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: Some foodstuffs (animal and fish based), machinery and industrial equipment as well as wood based products.
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? Above Ghant and FAS, on an island, preferably one big enough to have mountains.

Regional history
a) Were you recommended to Ajax?: No.

c) Other nations:
  • Kalumba

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: The Republic of Kalumba
b) Nation's IC population: 25,000,000
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $5,500
d) Nation's type of government: Parlimentary Democracy
e) Nation's head of state: President Derrick Chimpota
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable):

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Kalumba is a mismatch of a state forged from two distinctly separate nations Mocambique and Kentanga a Portuguese and French run state in Scipia. I don't know who would be the Portuguese or Spanish style state but I think Vannois was ok to be the origin of my French religious dissidents. For a rough outline of the early history of Kalumba my IIWiki article has a good overview which can be amended to suit the region. But after the end of white rule the two nations united under a charismatic yet deeply flawed military leader who oversaw and end of democracy for about 20 years. It was then reintroduced but is tightly controlled by the strongman.

As a poor and still developing nation Kalumba is still open to exploitation by richer and more powerful states but is starting to forge an identity as an independent Scipian state aligned with stronger Scipian powers to reduce foreign influence on their shared continent. The economy is developing to a level where reliance on foreign aid is reduced however a long running Hita insurgency backed by communist powers still threatens the stability of the nation and a return to poverty is highly possible.

http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Kalumba

I'm not great at writing short summaries so I hope the IIWiki article will give a better summary.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: French, Portuguese, Uhali, Hita, English, Ba'Tsongan
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Uhali, Hita, Ba'Tsongan, Whites
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Christian probably split into Catholic equivalent and Albans then native animistic beliefs
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: I'm not really sure if I'm honest Kalumba is rather small and weak compared to most nations and has plenty of internal problems which combined with a lack of power projection leave it rather focused on internal affairs. But I imagine that Kalumba would be a focus for international aid and the like as well as exploitation of natural resources.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The navy and air force would be nothing to write home about probably equipped with a few patrol boats and some outdated jets of dubious air worthiness. The army would be better equipped but not exactly to modern standards. The only real security threat is internal communist dissidents so more towards he light infantry side of things instead of conventional warfare.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Kalumba may have some large reserves of copper along with precious minerals and metals so could potential mess with the global supply chain of such things but beyond that Kalumba doesn't affect regional power structures.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I could deal with halving the GDPPC if it was needed without radically affecting the nation concept.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: Copper, Gold, Gemstones, some timber and beef products
b) What does your nation need to import?: Manufactured goods, farming equipment and other heavy machinery for mining etc, oil, foodstuffs
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: Very little due to corruption and chronic mismanagement of the nations resources
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? That bit jutting out the right hand side of Scipia would be about right

b) Nation's IC population: 132,997,111
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $19,973
d) Nation's type of government: Single party socialist state
e) Nation's head of state: First Secretary Georg von Carstein
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): First Minister Teresa Fehrenbach

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: The first socialist state in Ajax, it is a large and resilient state in northern central Belisaria. It has been a single-party socialist state since the August Revolution in August 1918 and has seen much trial and tribulation, including the utterly devastating Second Lio-Vannoisian War, internal unrest, minority uprisings in the east, but also great success and transformation. Major economic and social reforms from the early 1970s until recently have dramatically improved standards of living, wealth and national economic power. While not as internationalist and revolutionary as previous, Liothidia seeks to enhance its national power to ensure its survival and a safe haven for socialism, as such it will support numerous states; socialist and non-socialist alike if enhances Liothidia’s influence and causes chaos for its geopolitical rivals.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: German, Danish, French and Polish
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Germanic, Danish, Polish, Sorbian, French
d) What are the major religions among your population?: State atheism, Catholicism and Protestantism
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Being a major counter-balance to the BC, the protector and patron of Estoni, Rietumark and other resistance states.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The People’s Revolutionary Army consists of several branches; the Ground Forces, Air Force, Navy, People’s Revolutionary Combatant Group, the Luftsturmkorps and the People’s State Police. Combined (except the PSP) the PRA has 886,000 active personnel and 1.56 million reservists. Since 1990 it has undergone a major transistion and reform, reverting to a brigade system, new equipment, new vehicles, new training doctrines and a focus on new technologies including communications, cyberwarfare and anti-satellite weapons. The two unique branches are the Luftsturmkorps (Air Assault Corps), which is a distinct airborne troop force dedicated to interventions in the near-abroad. The other is the People’s Revolutionary Combatant Group, which is both a civil-party movement and an armed militia dedicated to protecting the Party-State and can be used in regular military operations.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: While its population would be the largest in Belisaria, it should be noted that since 2000, there has been a slow but steady decline in the birthrate to the level that effectively puts in Liothidia in stagnancy regarding population growth; merely growing by the low thousands. Economically, it is weaker than the established capitalist-monarchical-democratic powers, but still retains a solid economic base. Its economy is driven by labour intensive manufacturing, mining, chemicals and engineering. Being export led offers its own vulnerabilities. Militarily, Liothidia is strong and may well be able to hold its own against certain powers and nations on a one-to-one basis. Though smaller than historically, the PRA is well trained, disciplined and armed, but often cumbersome.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: I would reduce the size or capabilities of the PRA, economically and demographically, Liothidia is strong but has weaknesses and flaws, that may negate its nature.

b) Previous regions:
IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: Siverian League of Freely Associated Communities (Shortform: Siverian League; Map Label: Siveria)
b) Nation's IC population: 24,000,000
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $38,450
d) Nation's type of government: Direct democratic commonwealth of voluntarily associated syndicates, communities, and communes
e) Nation's head of state: Co-Commissary Tsviata Čisek (R)
Co-Commissary Atka Sadlyuvok (C)
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Same as above

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Siveria
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Slavonic is the lingua franca of Siveria. The language is a zonal constructed language first developed during the early 1800s as a proposed lingua franca for Eastern Belisaria by Siverian linguist Kiprijan Bahuševič.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Siverians are the largest ethnic group, speculated to encompass roughly 93% of Siveria’s population. Minority ethnic groups present in the League are Rabinovskans, Nekulturnyans, Rhynovians, and Liothidian Poles.
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Atheism/Agnosticism is the predominant belief, followed closely by Deism (here meaning believers in a supreme being but unaffiliated with any organised religion). “Traditional” religions include Catholicism and Orthodoxy, competing with a small, but growing, revivalist pagan movement.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Siveria is conceptually my NS baby and it needs a home. Its role will be fairly insignificant as it should be overshadowed by Liothidia and Nekulturnya.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The People's Self-Defence Forces is the primary armed force of the Siverian League, and is tasked first and foremost with the protection of Siveria's sovereignty, people and territorial integrity. The PSDF is made up of the People's Self-Defence Forces Army, People’s Self-Defence Forces Navy, and the People's Self-Defence Forces Air Force. The command-in-chief of the People's Self-Defence Forces is the Commissary of the Siverian League, presently Tsviata Čisek and Atka Sadlyuvok. The professional head of People's Self-Defence Forces is the Chairman of the People's Defence Committee, whom advises the civilian government on military matters.

The Directorate of Self-Defence is the civil body tasked with the control and oversight of the People's Self-Defence Forces and the means by which the civilian government and military communicate. The Director of Self-Defence is a member of the Executive Directorate, and reports to the Commissary with information provided by the People's Defence Committee.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Siveria finds itself in a peculiar position as it is sandwiched between Liothidia and Nekulturnya. To offset the predatory nature of both, Siveria aims to build strategic ties with its immediate neighbours, chiefly Rhynovia and Rabinovska, to try to act as a deterrent of invasion from either Liothidia and Nekulturnya.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I would reduce the population.

    Sovereign Charter
    and others

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: the Confederacy of the Seven Nations
b) Nation's IC population: 101.9 million
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: 26,319.2 Lire per capita; 3.1T total
d) Nation's type of government: confederal parliamentary republic
e) Nation's head of state: the Grand Council
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): the Grand Council

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: The Seven Nations is a confederation of seven Nations, each having their own Nation Guard, National Council and such. Each Nation also reserves the right to leave the Confederation but such a notion can only be activated if over 85% of both of the National Council's chambers members agree, after which a Nation-wide referendum is to occur. Interestingly, the Seven Nations is the only country in the world to have it's legislative chambers divided by gender, wherein the female chambers can draft legislation and the men's chambers can approve it. Historically, the Seven Nations have been in conflict with Latin and it's Belfrasian holdings, with wars erupting regularly, with one or two conflicts occurring each century. In the 20th century, two wars were fought between Belfras and the Seven Nations, namely the first war being a war from 1887-1900 instigated by the Seven Nations to recover the historic "Hydastas-Kannis Line" territories, laying north of Hydastas and west of Kannis. However, Latin intervention in the war and unexpected Belfrasian vigorous fighting led to an peace treaty in 1900 wherein the Belfrasian Federation and the Seven Nations promised to respect each others' territorial independence, with the latter rescinding any future and at the time, current, claim on the territory. Either way, war erupted again in 1946 when the Seven Nations revisited their territorial claims and invaded the Belfrasian Federation, seeing that their main ally, the Latin Empire was struck by civil war. The war ended in 1949 as both sides, tired of fighting and conflict, signed a peace treaty. While peace was achieved, scars between the both nations still exist and border skirmishes and battles have historically occurred. While peace is relatively stable, there is always fear of a reignited conflict over territory, influence and other concerns.

http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Confederacy_of_the_Seven_Nations There's some information about it's founding however I have neglected the page so far. The story of the founding is mostly accurate, however the arrival of Latin would be not met with war. It would be met with border skirmishes which would establish permanent relations, but war would occur in 1301-1310 wherein the Seven Nations would successfully resist Latin but would lose territory. Here is a brief timeline.

1260: Founding of the Seven Nations
1268: Initial contact with the Latium with minor skirmishes among the border, Latium missionaries enter the Seven Nations, formal relations established.
1268-1281: First Mourning Wars Period - local epidemics lead to multiple waves of mourning wars, destroying or assimilating neighboring cultures.
1301-1310: Second Norumbian Crusade - Latium uses the lynching of a missionary as excuse for crusade against the Seven Nations. While the war is not as brutal and the Seven Nations lose territories (parts of territories that now comprise Belfras) and some more. The Seven Nations manage to stave off the crusade and the Latin sign a peace.
1302-1327: Second Mourning Wars Period - post-crusade situation leads to a wave of mourning wars, destroying or assimilating neighboring cultures.
1378: Republic of Nahullo is established and joins the Confederation after treaty with Ghantish northern chieftains.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Haunodese, Ghantish and others.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Haunodese, Ghantish, Belfrasian.
d) What are the major religions among your population?:

The Haunodese religion is very complicated and has numerous divisions but it is mainly the belief of the first people to walk on Ajax, called the First Woman. Following her birth of two male twins, the twins fought until the older twin was beaten and retreated and was confined to the "dark areas of the world" to control destructive creatures and the night while his other twin who won created "all that is right and righteous". Divisions of the religion incorporate other theories on the relationship between these two, others saying that one was the Creator and his brother was Tree, who created predators and disease while the Creator created the "good". The Haunodese religion also believes in deities and such, believing in a spiritual flow that flowed all things and if people were respectful to nature, then the spiritual flow would bring good. It is said that there exists the "Great Spirit" which is to be the creator of everything, the land, the nature, the seas and the First Woman. Most of the Haunodese population follows the Haunodese religion (to be had a formal name later), while most of the other population is either atheist, Christian or follows Ghantish paganism, which is followed by most of the Ghantish populations in the north.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Well, I see the Seven Nations acting as a sort of antagonistic state to Belfras.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The Seven Nations is a volunteer based military with 470,000 active members and around 300,000 reserve personnel. It is compromised of four branches, the Air Force, the Navy and the Army, which is the largest branch of all and receives most funding. The objective of the Armed Forces of the Seven Nations is to ensure the territorial independence of the Seven Nations. The Seven Nations also has another trained reserve/active reserve of soldiers from the Nations enlisted in their Nation Guard, but it is expected that in war time the Nation Guard is to assist civilians with evacuation and supply and to fight only defensively and can also be used in high profile law enforcement missions and situations where a state of emergency is enacted.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: The Seven Nations would be a regional power in Norumbia which is antagonistic and sort of a counterweight to Belfras directly, harnessing imperialistic ambition against the Belfrasian Federation. As such, relations with Latin and other Belisarian monarchies might not be as great. However, it is possible that the Nations would have good relations with the Mutul. The economy would be rather powerful and diversified. The military would be focused on Belfras to deter invasion and to pose a significant threat to Belfras. I would like to point out at the same time I'm not creating my country to be some sort of world police or whatever, but at the same time I don't want to be shut down out of roleplay outside of Norumbia because of no political ties or commitments to other countries. It is possible that the Seven Nations attempt to exercise their influence around Norumbia and perhaps in Oxidentale. But I can assure that influence is not all-out military intervention or invasion. If anyone has questions about this I'd like to discuss.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I would most likely discuss with the region, I will adjust to what people say to a reasonable amount to what others think is acceptable.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: oil, industrial goods, machinery, certain military equipment and others
b) What does your nation need to import?: the nation needs to import certain agricultural production that survives in only different climates and environments than the ones on the Seven Nations, needs to import some military equipment and other things.
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: certain military equipment, agricultural production such as corn, bean and squash and others, most likely has other things the country is self sufficient on.
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? I've discussed with Latin and he knows.

Regional history
a) Were you recommended to Ajax?: No.

General information
a) Time on Nationstates: Too damned long.
b) Previous regions:
c) Other nations:

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: Republic of Zhuodo (Zhuo: 週地 共和國, zaudei gungwogwok)
b) Nation's IC population: 401,224,131
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $1,900 (nominal), $7,291 (PPP)
d) Nation's type of government: Unitary neo-legalist popular socialist republic with elements of e-democracy
e) Nation's head of state: President Sun Shi Zulong
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Chief Minister Yuen Tai

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: At the centre of ancient civilisations, modern day Zhoudo is often lauded as "the future of the Third World". Despite a low GDP reltive to population - and thus, a low average income - the state maintains a profoundly high score on the Human Development Index; a state known commonly as the "Zhou model" by academics. The state ranks highly in literacy, and manages to maintain near-first world levels of social development, with Zhou living as long as Belisarians, and maintaining a birthrate lower than many Norumbrian nations.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Zhuo is the most widely spoken language, and is spoken by roughly 87% of the population as a first language; close to 97% of the population speak it as a second language. Akian, Jhurkid and Ullerian are spoken by minorities in the north. Standard Latin is well-known as a lingua franca and language of commerce, and is taught as a second language in most schools. Other minority languages include Xian and Song.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Zhou are the largest, and dominant, ethnic group. Minorities include the Islamic Hae, the Akians, Jhurkid and Ullerians. Fabrian Zhou also form a significant minority.
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Pending further discussion, but likely Confucianism [not technically a religion] and ancient Zhou ancestor worship. Fabrianism also maintains a presence.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Zhoudo should act as a rising power within Ochran; and due to it's unique socioeconomic development - low GDP but high HDI - it should act as an influential model for other Third World/developing countries. As such, despite it's larger population, it's real strength would not be in military might or even economic might - though both would be relatively substantial, given the higher population - but instead in influence and soft power. With a presumed "detente" with it's former colonial overlords - Zhoudo can also act as a link between Belisaria and Ochran.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): Volunteer army hosting 500,000 active, professional soldiery. Far larger core of reservists numbering close to a million. Largely equipped with Belisarian weaponry, but Zhoudo has also begun to produce it's own equipment. The navy is critically underfunded, numbering only a few coastal defence ships.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Zhoudo's strength is, essentially, the strength of the Kerala model; it is able to provide a high quality of life for it's citizenry while remaining a low-income nation. It's weaknesses also stem from this; it has a low industrial sector and remains reliant on Belisarian imports for much of it's modern equipment.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? Cut the pop, cut the GDP p/c further.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting?: Rice remains a major export, but health professionals also rank highly. Zhoudo is beginning to enter the world stage as a manufacturer, also.
b) What does your nation need to import?: Fuels, manufactured goods, machinery; all that good stuff.
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: Food production, particularly rice; the Zhou diet is bland, but following the May 1st Uprising enough food has begun to be produced to prevent the cyclical starvation of the old regime.
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map?: here

Regional history
a) Were you recommended to Ajax?: Sorta, by Prem.

6: Roleplay history There's a long list.

d) Nation's type of government: Oligarchical Republic
e) Nation's head of state: Consul Orson Sedki
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Co-Consul Cyril Wassef

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Kashromi is a beautiful land plagued by troubles. Loyalties within Kashromi runs deep, with religious conflicts between the Akhmim who practice Alban Christianity and the pagan religion of the Akhmim, with the social division between the two only exacerbating the problem. Additionally, the existence of the Thebaic (the inhabitants of Kashromi before the Akhmim arrived) see numerous southern secessionist movements against the Kashromi State, admittedly not helped by the harsh crackdowns against these people undertaken by the government.

Likewise, the government is corrupt, with only land owning men over the age of 32 being eligible to stand for election, with lavish amounts of money spent every few years as the Senate attempts to gain votes for their leaders to assume the title of Consul, all of this money coming from the already shrunken budget. Fortunately, all men over the age of 21 are eligible to vote, allowing for some degree of democratic freedom. It's reliance on its connection to the sea for its economic advancement has led to the decline of numerous population centres in the interior, the biggest threat of this being that the interior is where the majority of Kashromi's crops originate from, posing a dangerous risk to the food supply.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Latin, Coptic, Greek
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: The Akhmim (Copts), Thebaic (Levantines), Tarsasans
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Alban Christianity, Fabrian Christianity, Native Akhmim religions
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: I like to see Kahromi become a cause for concern on the international stage
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The Kashromi military is no cause for celebration in Scipia, existing and serving largely in a defence capacity in Kashromi. The largest branch would be the Army, whos largest branch is charged with the policing of the less populated interior regions and Thebaic inhabited areas, while the Navy is the second largest, serving to defend the coast as opposed to launching intercontinental attacks. The air force is the smallest of the branches, largely comprised of helicopters and a handful of fixed-wing aircraft.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Kashromi's largest strength is its defence, with its military maintaining multiple operations in how to defend Kashromi should it come under attack, while economically, its proximity to the wealthier states allows it to trade easier with such economically beneficial states.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? Most anything

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: Kashromi is a large exporter or just about any sandstone and marble, while also a large producer of multiple types of glasses. Kashromi's long history has also allowed it to develop a booming trade on historic items discovered within Kashromi and its coasts. It also exports bauxite, iron, aluminium and coal.
b) What does your nation need to import?: Kashromi, while being home to numerous metal, lacks the ability to refine much of them into alloyed states, so it's reliant on outside nations to export refined metals to them. It's also cursed with lacking any oil reserves, having to important all of its oil.
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: Agriculture remains its largest industry, with the south being home to fertilising rivers and thus providing much of the nation's food. It also constructs many of its stone buildings.

IC National information

b) Nation's IC population: 51,202,572
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $14,540 (PP) $5,292 (nominal)
d) Nation's type of government: Unitary semi-presidential republic under a dominant-party system
e) Nation's head of state: President Fadil Berxwedan
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Premier Siyabend Öcalan

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Iotopha overthrew its monarchy in 1920, and established a communist regime, loosely based off of Mazdakism. The People’s Republic of Iotopha collapsed in 1986, and was replaced a new regime promising democracy and freedom. This new regime quickly took on many of the existing power structures, and has continually been hampered by growing corruption. Iotopha is semi-presidential republic under a dominant-party system, which along with tactics to silence the opposition and influential business and political figures, further hinders the spread of democracy in the country. The country saw a sale of its state-owned enterprises following the 1986 government transition, however, today the state controls nearly 60% of state industries.

The country’s official language is Iotophan (a Kurdish dialect), though Jhilam (a Punjuabi dialect) is the second most spoken language in the county. Ethnic groups within Iotopha also mirror this breakdown, but I’ll probably add in some smaller minorities as things progress. The largest religion is Zoroastrian, and while there is not state faith, it holds a favored position that other religions don’t enjoy.

It is still burdened by a relatively high unemployment rate and poverty, and with high income inequality.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Kurdish and Punjabi
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Kurdish and Punjabi, with some minority groups to be implemented based on surrounding area
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Zoroastrianism, with minority followings in Islam, various Christian sects, Judaism, and local religions
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Iotopha could probably seen as a potential rising nation in its immediate area; however, it is hampered by a number of domestic factors such as corruption.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): Probably spending around 2.4% of GDP. Branches include the Army, Navy and Air Force, with Army being the largest branch and likely the most influential. Active personnel tentatively around 400,000. Likely a recent focus on technology, including cyberwarfare capabilities, though generally lagging behind the major powers of the region. Given its proposed location, it’s navy will also play a significant role in patrolling the Ozeros Sea.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Iotopha will probably take a pragmatic, realist approach to regional politics, but due to its problems with corruption, unemployment, etc., it won’t be able to play as large a role in greatly impacting much outside of its immediate area.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? Open to suggestions

f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Premier Wei Khojin

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Chagadalai is a technocratic republic strongly influenced by the reforms of of the Tsurushiman Enlightenment. During the rapid expansion of the East Ochran Technate (under the de facto leadership of Tsurushima) Chagadalai, then a monarchy, was reformed into a republic and then again into a directorial republic, ousting the royal family. The remnants of the monarchy, which still has strong support in the old royal capital of Tara and tribal authorities, remains a government in exile in Arkoenn.

The tension between the Tsurushiman-aligned republicans, who currently hold the upper hand, and the monarchists under the aegis of Arkoenn, has erupted into civil war on two occasion since the republican reforms of the late 19th century. During the first civil war, a prominent relation of the royal family attempted a coup in Jetsun (the republican capital), but was pacified by Tsurushiman peacekeepers. The first war limited the political activities of tribal organizations, especially by preventing tribal leaders from holding public office or endorsing candidates for office. A second civil war occured in the mid 20th century during the early years of the Karsid Dynasty; a claimant to the throne took up residence in the royal palace at Tara and began to build a government. The palace, which was a national park, was stormed by republican troops after the claimant attempted to implement a ban on blasphemy. The fighting eventually spilled out of the palace and Tara was greatly damaged. Since then various claimants have appeared, some thought to be sponsored by the Karsids, but they have been arrested without widespread violence.

Chagadalai became the exclusive entrepot of the silk market during the rise of the Guatama Empire in Benaajab, which limited the Southern route to Sinhai as well as the sea route. Though the Guatama Empire eventually collapsed, Chagadalai’s status as the city of the silk remained unimpeachable. The Khans issued a paper currency which could be redeemed for a set weight of silk and set up enormous warehouses to stockpile and control the supply of silk. During the construction of the Trans-Ochran railroad, the Khan’s control of overland trade was greatly threatened, but political instability in Arkoenn and the nationalization of Arkoennite section of the railroad allowed Jetsun to remain the world’s central silk marketplace.

The importance of Jetsun became intensified when it became the Ochran’s first commodities exchange. During the trade reforms of the Harmonious Covenant, the Jetsun Trade Commission became the primary commodities exchange for all Ochran, making them one of the centers of Ochran finance.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Mongolian is the official language, spoken fluently by roughly 72% of the nation's inhabitants. Other languages include Tungusic, spoken primarily by nomadic tribes, and Sinitic languages spoken by economic migrants.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Mongolians, Manchus and other Tungusic peoples, Han Chinese.
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Hinduism, traditional steppe shamanism ("Tengrism"), and Buddhism among others
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Chagadalai is the commodities capital of Ochran and the flashpoint between the Tsurushiman and Arkoennite political spheres. Historically, Chagadalai is the birthplace of the Bayarid Empire, which is the largest land-empire in history. The Bayarids encompassed the majority of Ochran and extended westward up to the Velikoslavian frontier.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The armed forces are overseen by the National Director of Defense and are supplied primarily by Tsurushiman arms manufacturers, which also supply military advisors and training.

There is also a loosely organized paramilitary organization called the Kheshig which is known to support the return of the monarchy.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Chagadalai's position along the Jade Road has made the nation a historical financial power in Ochran. In the contemporary age, Chagadalai is at the forefront for the clashing political spheres of the progressive East Ochran Technante and the reactionary Arkoennite Empire.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? We don't really see how Chagadalai could be interpreted as "too powerful."

e) Nation's head of state:
Grand Duke Tomás Alexander

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:
The Grand Noble Republic is a relatively new state, tracing its roots back to the civil war between the Reese to the south in 1699. Initially apart of Sante Reeze, Caripe gained its independence during the war in 1705 and subsequently founded the Noble Republic, ruled by a three Grand Dukes formerly of their southern neighbor. Caripe quickly attempted to industrialize and compete with its southern neighbors but in doing so reduced its general population to poverty via over taxation. Today, the GNRC is a major exporter of phosphorous. Being the only source of such a resource on the continent, it has become vital for neighboring powers to trade with Caripe in order to acquire phosphates for agriculture. This has made the ruling families very rich but reduced the local population to poverty.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?:
Reese
Panare
Uruak
Bari
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?:
Reese
Mutulese
Kyamucan
d) What are the major religions among your population?:
Reeze religion
Fabian catholic
Mutulese paganism
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?:
GNRC will be moving in to fill the role of Kust. It is going to be a threat to Sante Reese aligned with Deseret on its northern border. It’s impoverished population will serve as a vehicle for crime and corruption. As one of the sole available sources of phosphorus for phosphate production in farming, the GNRC has set itself in a favorable position where it cannot be easily invaded or annexed.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.):
The Most Noble Armed Forces are one of the largest per capita in the area. With significant support and equipment provided by Deseret, a larger than average budget and percentage of the population serve in the military in order to counter the threat of the Reeze to the south. With Little available local industry, the GNRC buys significant amounts of equipment from foreign sources and has one state run armaments developer who purchases and modifies foreign equipment
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures:
The sole strength of the GNRC is its significant phosphorus deposits. Significant global exports of the mineral, specifically Deseret who buys it in vast quantities, keeps the government of the GNRC wealthy at the expense of the population who sees very little of the wealth. The three ruling families have amassed vast fortunes and can spend it on a sizable military force to defend the GNRC, putting it in a unique position on Oxidential.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?
I could reduce the population. The state itself is already very poor.

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:

The Imperial State of Bahktar is a constitutional monarchy located in eastern Scipia bordering Tarsas. Bahktar is one of the cradles of civilization and nowdays, a democratic constitutional monarchy.
Historically, it has been associated with the four larger tribal associations that ruled Bahktar ever since. Sajar and Zarathrustan early tribes resided on the western seabord, while the Japhic tribes arrived from Ochran and settled on the eastern seaboard. Kaxudan tribes dominated most of the countries’ interior. Bahktar history can mainly be divided into wider and larger categories, the first one being the Kaxudan Golden Age wherein the Ancient Kaxudan Empire was formed.
During this time, Bexirdism, the main religion of Bahktar also came into existence and spread throughout the area, which ended with the disappearance of the Kaxudan Lake and subsequent decline of the Ancient Kaxudan Empire.

Succeeding the Kaxudan Golden Age came the Zarathrustan Golden Age wherein during the vacuum following the collapse of the Ancient Kaxudan Empire, the Serhken Empire was formed on the western seaboard which then proceeded to grow to the power of the Ancient Kaxudan one.
This was followed by the Fragmented Era, wherein the Serhken Empire lost it’s influence and collapsed in on itself due to revolt and war. This era ended after the arrival of the Teispid Empire which conquered all of north-eastern Scipia, absorbing it by conquering the comparatively weak, smaller Empires.
With the collapse of the Teispid Empire in 250BC, Haxharkun III, the Satrapy of Sajar, a chieftain of the Sajar province of the Teispid Empire, seized his opportunity and conquered vast swathes of land with his army, forming the Haxharkun Empire. Many cultural and governmental aspects were learnt from the Teispid and Haxharkun III could sustain his holdings and was able to build an Empire.

With people unsure of his faith in Bexirdism, which also spun conspiracy theories and plots to overthrow his reign, Haxharkun Emperor, Kaxh II, declares the Haxharkun Empire, the Bexirdrate of Bahktar, meaning “The Bexirdi Land of the Lake”, convincing his population that he is a true believer in Bexirdism, with reference to the Kaxudan Lake which was one of the “Great Misfortunes” This is the first time that the word “Bahktar” comes into existence. Ever since 178 when Kaxh II declared the Bexidrate of Bahktar, Bahktar has been the name used for the territories and it’s inhabitants.
In 562, Latin arrival to the Bexidrate of Bahktar soon resulted in the conquest of the lands by the Latin. In 954 after Islamic forces invading eastern Scipia results in a withdrawal of the Latin Empire. At this time, Arga I declared the Hellenic Empire in Tarsas, while the Bexidrate of Bahktar was declared by Urxe I in Bahktar.

Continued invasions by Islamic forces cause Urxe I and Emperor Arga I to seek a unification of their realms. Urxe I had no sons, only daughters, and the marriage to Arga I in 967 meant he would inherit the thrones of both Bahktar and the Hellenic Empire. In 975, Urxe I died and Emperor Arga I also received the title of King of Bahktar, uniting the two countries completely. Over time, the Islamic campaign into eastern Scipia was defeated by the combined forces of the Bahktaric and Hellenic armies.

Bahktar remained apart of the Hellenic Empire for the time being. In 1304, a crusade launched by Latin, Vannois and Lihndos saw the establishment of multiple crusader kingdoms of the western seaboard of Bahktar. The last one of these crusader kingdoms fell in 1543.
Bahktar remained the same apart of the Hellenic Empire until a compromise in 1830 between Bahktaric nobility and royal family and the Hellenic Empire to avert a collapse of the Empire all-together due to the seccession of Marad, Talakh, Bahktar secession would have spelled doom for the Empire. The agreement formed the Hellenic-Bahktaric Empire which reformed the Hellenic Empire as a dual monarchy between Tarsas and Bahktar.
Bahktar remained apart of the Hellenic-Bahktaric Empire until King Pexadi Erza Asxadli came to the throne after the death of his father, King Erza Azhad Asxadli in 1980.

The rule of Erza Azhad Asxadli almost brought violent revolution in to fruition, with protests ravaging the country and martial law in force, with Diocetus II, Erza Azhad Asxadli’s Tarsan counterpart being ready to send in the Tarsan Army to reassert control. However, the death of Erza resulted in his much-more liberal and compromising son, Pexadi, coming to the throne in 1980, which resulted in reform and promise of democratic election to an nation which had previously been an autocratic, absolute monarchy. With the appointment of an interim government led by opposition figures, the dual monarchy almost went to war with itself as Diocetus II saw Pexadi’s liberal reform as a threat to the survival of the Hellenic-Bahktaric Empire. However, the death of Diocetus II resulted in his son, Marcus II taking the throne, after which tensions were defused and the dual monarchy peacefully separated, with two independent monarchies taking it’s place.

Since 1980, Bahktar has been a constitutional monarchy emphasising freedom of religion, speech and assembly. It maintains a cordial relationship with Tarsas and it’s allies throughout Scipia.

Nowdays it’s political scene is dominated by a contrast of more right and more centrist-left political parties. While maintaining a multi-party system, the dominant political parties of Bahktar are the Revolutionary Democratic Party, a center-right political party dominant in Bahktaric politics since the 1980s, and the Bahktaric Equality Party, a left-leaning political party that has, since the 2000s been an important player in Bahktaric politics, challenging the Revolutionary Democratic Party ever since. The Bahktaric Equality Party also advocates for a different foreign policy which would be focused on mending relations with socialist nations to provide greater trade and investment benefits for Bahktar. The Bahktaric Equality Party also sees strong Bahktaric alignment to Tarsas as detrimental for Bahktar itself and it’s progress.

Bahktar’s national religion is Bexirdism but it remains a secular nation with no religious interference in government. Bexirdism is centered around the belief that there is a consciousness of the universe, named the Ozaya, which controls everything and created multiple gods to observe Ajax. Wars surrounding the Kaxudan Lake between multiple tribes supposedly led to the God of Lakes, God Bahk, to go travel to the Ozaya to speak with it, saying that he has witnessed terrible horrors being committed by the people. God Bahk had asked Ozaya to punish and to correct the Bahktaric people. Ozaya, taking in mind Bahk’s recommendation, decided that he is right, and order all Gods on Ajax to descend upon Bahktar to monitor the people living there and them only. The Gods were to punish wrongdoing and to reward good deeds in their respective category.

God Bahk is said to have informed the Bahktaric of what will happen by appearing one day in the city of Arjuz, residing on the edge of the Kaxudan Lake, stating to the villagers that they are the most right of the right, but others exist and the most wrong of the wrong is causing sorrow and terror. Explaining his arrival and reason, he said that the next day, a divine message will fall upon the people of Bahktar. As his punishment, he announced to the villagers that the lake which is the lifeline of the Ancient Kaxudan Empire will disappear.

Supposedly the next day, twenty slabs of stone, “Bexirdi Rocks” had appeared on the edge of Arjuz, closest to the Kaxudan Lake, with tenets of Bexirdisim inscripted on them with the notification of the “Great Punishment” that God Bahk will deliver - he will make sure that the lake will disappear and that if the people were to remain as bad in the future, similar “punishments” will be delivered, be they small to individual people or be they large punishments which bring about the destruction of Empires. God Bahk is not the only God as there are other ones who monitor other aspects of life, the most important ones being God of Faith, God Rad and the God of Sun and the Dark, God Ihhat. The first punishment has since remained the most important punishment in the religion and retains very important significance, which is why Kaxh II changed the name of his nation to convince his people he has faith in Bexirdism. Legend also says that God Bahk promised that if enough sins are repented and wrongdoings corrected, the lake may return one day, which is why God Bahk remains one of the central gods of Bexirdism.

While Bahktar is certainly not a theocratic reģime, Bexirdism is an important part of Bahktar and it’s idea, with most in Bahktar accepting Bexirdism as an uniquely Bahktaric religion. It is unknown if the Bexirdi Rocks ever mentioned of an instance wherein the gods could leave Bahktar. Many assume that the punishment onto the Bahktaric - oversight by the gods - is permanent and everlasting.

Bahktar takes pride in the thousands year tradition of the Bahktaric monarchy, embracing the identity and idea of the Haxharkun Sajar which ruled over most of far eastern Scipia. The King of Bahktar, while a figurehead, reserves executive powers to dissolve the nations’ parliament, along with powers to instate martial law.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?:

Bahktaric is the main and official language of Bahktar, however, Latin and Tarsan is taught in schools as a secondary and third language respectively, with most of the population atleast bilingual.

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?:

Bahktar is mainly inhabited by Bahktar which compose approximately 89% of the population, however, the largest minority group, Tarsans, compose approximately 6% of the population.

d) What are the major religions among your population?:

Bexirdism is the largest religion of Bahktar, however, Tarsan paganism is followed by some Bahktar and by the Tarsan community in Bahktar. Christianity retains some popularity on the western seaboard due to the existence of crusader kingdoms throughout the 14th and 16th centuries. Islam also is a religion that is practiced by some Bahktar, but it is a minor religion.

e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?:

Considering that when re-apping Bahktar I wanted Bahktar to have some more “weight” to say so, Bahktar would most likely align with Tarsas’ Scipian wing, while maintaining friendly/neutral relations with most Belisarian nations.
I would like there, if possible, to be some sort of problems in relationship with Iothopa, with the possibility of tension with Arkoenn in some way, although I’m not quite sure yet. What I am sure is that Bahktar would have cordial relations with Tarsas and neutral relations with most socialist nations, although having moreso negative ones with totalitarian Belisarian socialist republics such as Estoni and Rietumimark.

In regards to Scipia, Bahktar is, most likely, supportive of Abalessa and unfriendly to Nahlia.
Bahktar is interested in preserving a status quo in Scipia to prevent radical Islamist and socialist reģimes from accomplishing their goals which would undermine and in the long run, potentially threaten the existence of a democratic constitutional monarchy in Bahktar.

f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.):

The Bahkaric Imperial Armed Forces are divided into the Imperial Air Force, the Imperial Navy and the Imperial Army, all in total consisting of 130,000 men & women.
The Armed Forces inherited most of it’s equipment from the splitting of the Hellenic-Bahktaric Empire and it’s army consists mainly of upgraded equipment from the 80s to modern standards. It’s main arms provider is Tarsas, with Bahktar also domestically producing some of it’s equipment for the army.
The Imperial Army maintains a defensive posture as it has signed a defensive agreement with Tarsas, as such it maintains one incase of amphibious invasion or other unforeseen circumstances. The Imperial Army has some units deployed overseas.

The Imperial Air Force and Navy are the two most important branches of Bahktar, their mission being to protect the airspace and waterways of Bahktar. The Imperial Navy co operates with Tarsas with keeping the straits open and free from piracy. The Imperial Navy is also responsible for defense of Bahktaric territorial waters and routinely conducts exercises with Tarsas.
The Imperial Air Force is responsible for the protection of the airspace of Bahktar. Some parts of the Armed Forces have been deployed on foreign, friendly soil. I am not sure of the size of the Armed Forces, but their size will be reasonable after I will be able to discuss with more military-savvy people.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures:

Bahktar is aligned with Tarsas and as such it is attempting to maintain the current status quo which exists in Scipia and is being challenged by other Scipian countries. Bahktar maintains a defensive alliance with Tarsas. It is, perhaps possible, that Bahktar has deployed and stationed military units in other countries friendly to Bahktar to defend them and to deter invasion from said perceived hostile countries which may challenge the status quo currently in Scipia.

h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I’m not sure, that’s up to decide in discussion with the region.

Reapp for Siveria

General information
a) Time on Nationstates: November, 2009
b) Previous regions:
IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: Glorious Empire of All Under the Blue Sky/Great Siveria
b) Nation's IC population: 97,477,000
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: $3,450
d) Nation's type of government: Imperial republic (Hybrid Monarchical autocracy under a parliamentary system)
e) Nation's head of state: Empress (will come up with a better name once in the region) Prorokiljubiti V Shishmanova
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Same as above

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: The area of Siveria has been inhabited by modern humans since the Neolithic Era. These indigenous peoples would clash with the expanding Terter and Kun steppe peoples. Eventually, these groups would conquer much of eastern Siveria and form the Polovtsid civilisation. Slavic groups would migrate beginning in the 6th century, moving north from the Rhynovia and Nekulturnya to Siveria. During this migration, the Banate of Selakovina would be established in the city of the same, becoming the first recognised Siverian polity. Over the coming centuries, Selakovina would expand its territory to encompass the northern regions of modern day Siveria, and upon the declaration of the Edict of Trnjak in 831, Ban Symeonu II declared himself to be Ban of Siveria. The Banate of Siveria would, over the course of the next two centuries, solidify itself as an early East Belisarian power and geopolitical rival to the various principalities in Nekulturnya and Rhynovia. Siverian suzerainty would begin to crumble as the Bayarids from Chagadalai began to make incursions along the Banate’s eastern frontier. Wishing to secure Siveria’s status as an independent kingdom, Ban Ljubomir V willingly submitted to Bayarid rule in 1050 CE. From a period beginning in 1057 until 1118, the Banate of Siveria became a tributary of the Bayarid Empire and formed a vital component of Bayarid control over Eastern Belisaria. Under Bayarid control, Siveria saw immense territorial gains and a centralisation of local power through the creation of walled cities. The death of Bayar Khan in 1118 formally ended Siverian submission to the Bayarid Empire as the Banate of Siveria, known as the [TBD Golden Horde Analogue] became functionally independent of Bayarid control in Chagadalai.

Officially, Siveria is an Imperial republic under the complete authority of the emperor, who is considered both the temporal and spiritual ruler of Great Siveria. The emperor is selected by a vote of majority from the Grand Jury of the Censures and serves for a period of 10 years. Due to the on-going Siverian Restoration undertaken by Prorokiljubiti V as a result of [the Nuclear War Nek has], the term limit is suspended until further notice. The Grand Jury of the Censures serves a role analogous to both a judiciary and upper house of the legislature due to the entwining of both religious law and governance. A civilian legislative body, the Imperial Debates, serves in a role analogous to a lower house and is made up of elected civilians who serve four year terms. Political parties are banned in Siveria and instead unofficial factions take their place. Censorates, formed by the leading scholars in the Grand Jury of the Censures, function similarly to government ministries, assist the emperor in the day-to-day running of the empire.
b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: A TBD Slavic language
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Siverians are the largest ethnic group, speculated to encompass roughly 63% of Siveria’s population. Minority ethnic groups present in the League are Nekulturnyans, Rhynovians, and [Steppe peoples].
d) What are the major religions among your population?: A TBD dualistic, iconoclastic religion characterised by semi-codified ancestor worship, nature worship, and the involvement of various divinations.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Frenemy of Nek. Hopefully Siveria would assist in “shaking up” the current geopolitics of Belisaria, at the very least by somewhat threatening BC associated states like Rhynovia and Nekor. Siveria is also a Bayarid Empire successor claimant with possible revanchist aspirations of what is viewed to be “historical Bayarid territory.”
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): The military makes use of the stereotypical Soviet/Yugoslav weaponry and technology. The military is fairly poor in terms of training as the large military doubles as a construction force for state rebuilding projects. That being said, the large size of the military would be enough to still act as a deterrent even with its questionable quality. Prince-Generals and other aristocrats still formally lead many formations and as such so-called “Arab Army Syndrome” exists.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Siveria’s economy, while still rebuilding, is rapidly growing and is expected to reach pre-war levels by 2020. The military, while of dubious quality, is still large and would pose a threat to its immediate neighbours.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I would reduce the population.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: Zinc, cobalt, copper, bauxite, silicon, cheap industrial goods
b) What does your nation need to import?: Industrial equipment, heavy machinery, military equipment, foodstuffs, petroleum and natural gas, rare earth elements/metals, cars, medicaments, fertilizers and other chemical goods.
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: TBD
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... _claim.png

Regional history
a) Were you recommended to Ajax?: No

6: Roleplay history Already in it

Note: I would be willing to reduce things pertaining to Kadaria (population and the nation’s size) as a caveat to maintaining Siveria’s app integrity.

f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Prime Minister Marco Roman

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: The Kingdom is a small kingdom on the southern coast of Belisaria with a rich, though troubled history. Originally a frontier of ancient Latium, it was populated by a combination of Gothic tribes that intermixed with Latins, Greeks and other southern Belisarian peoples. It occupied a crossroad position that allowed it to be a hub of trade during the late antiquity period. The name Garza originated from the presence of Herons, which were known to flock to those lands in days of old.

Garza grew into a Duchy of the old Latin Empire, with the first ducal dynasty having been so recognized in the 8th century CE under Rodrigo I of the House of Rodriguez (so named after Rodrigo). These Dukes were loyal vassals of the Latin Emperors, and for their service were eventually elevated to Lords Palatine (while retaining their hereditary Ducal rights). This continued up until the Latin Civil War that resulted in the separation of several polities from imperial suzerainty, of which Garza was but one. At this point Garza became a self-proclaimed kingdom under King Hernan I of the House of Hernandez (referred to as the Liberator, and who was heir of the Rodriguez dynasty through the female line), and has remained sovereign ever since.

Garza was able to sustain a unique and separate identity through the development of its own language, Garzan, which has a unique and complex history. The Garzan language evolved from Vulgar Latin, which had developed in Garza in antiquity. Previously, several pre-Latin languages (also called Paleogarzan languages)—unrelated to Latin were spoken in Garza, including various Gothic languages.

The first documents to show traces of what is today regarded as the precursor of modern Garzan are from 1st millennium CE. Throughout the Middle Ages and into the modern era, the most important influences on the Garzan lexicon came from neighboring languages such as Audonian, Greek and Arabic.

Through their own language, a complex network of medieval alliances and a total devotion to the Fabrian Catholic Church, Garza was able to maintain its independence and grow and prosper as a coastal kingdom focused on trade and mercantilism. The Kingdom changed hands a few more times, passing at one time into a Personal Union with the Latin Emperors upon the extinction of the House of Hernandez, and then ending the Personal Union as a result of the usurpation of Ferdinand I "the Traitor" of the House of Vasquez.

Due to the historical importance of the merchant class in Garza, various uprisings have plagued the country's history. The death of King Philip III, the last of the Vasquez Dynasty prompted a bitter Civil War that prompted the rise of a military dictatorship led by General Jose "Red Jose" Duran, who ruled the short-lived Garzan Free State which lasted from 1803 until 1804. The Free State was overthrown by Alfonso of the House of Valdez, who restored the kingdom as Alfonso IV as the principal heir of Philip III. The House of Valdez rules Garza to this day, but not without interruption.

Unfortunately for Garza, the struggle to maintain relevancy into the 20th century was real. The power of the Fabrian Catholic Church was so dominant in ordinary life that national laws tended to reflect church doctrine, and the wealth divide between common peoples and the upper / noble classes was stark. This fermented leftist / socialist sentiments in Garza that grew especially strong in the latter half of the 20th century. This, combined with a series of corrupt monarchs and right-wing governments eventually led to the Garzan Revolution in 2008.

So severe was the Garzan Revolution that it culminated in an event known as Martes Rojo. During this event, several children and grandchildren of King Alfonso VI were attacked in their homes by revolutionaries, and reportedly beaten, raped and murdered, before the bodies were dragged through the streets of Ciudad Garza and hung upside down in the city square, displayed on public television for all the world to see. The international reaction and backlash was so great that the ill-fated Republic of Garza was almost doomed to failure, being regarded as a pariah state.

Indeed, the Socialist Republic of Garza only lasted for five years, until its collapse in 2013. A provisional government restored the monarchy under King Diego IV (Alfonso VI's grandson) via national referendum, and since then the nation has taken on the form of a Parliamentary Constitutional monarchy, that struggles to reconcile its strong catholic identity with progressive social values.

This Constitution having been proposed to the Cortes in cooperation with His Catholic Majesty, Diego IV, by the Grace of God, King of Free Garza, as well as His Catholic Majesty’s Government, it is now hereby instituted by the same for the good of the commonweal known as the Restored Kingdom of Free Garza. is the following decreed as part of said

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Garzans (Spanish)
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Fabrian Catholic
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: A "non-aligned" presence in Southern Belisaria that struggles with class strife and socialist tendencies while under the nominal rule of a constitutional monarch (so some more regional royal marriage fodder)
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): Size TBD at the discretion of regional administration. Army, Navy, (Ch)air Force, etc.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: The primary strengths of Garza might be in its GDP / social services that it can provide due to having a lower population. This would strengthen the Fabrian Catholic sphere undoubtedly, though at the same time would likely not be a member of the BC as a result of what might be considered "regime instability" due to the recent Revolution.
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? By weakening exports and reducing the population / GDP as would be deemed necessary by regional administration.

c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: 25k
d) Nation's type of government: Constitutional Monarchy
e) Nation's head of state: The Nyo Ulo Ayo
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): The Olari, "High Speaker", Temidare Seyi

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:
Tulura wasn't always united; for much of it's pre-modern history the land was rife with warfare and economic competition. It was composed of various princely city-states, famous in their competition and ferosity in war(The Age of Oba's), the Tuluran states remained independent, uniting under a 'War Confederation' when the time came to defend against foreign threats. With the introduction of advanced firearms from foreign traders, the Tuluran city-states would showdown in an intensive civil war which would ultimately unite the country under one formittable empire.

Today, Tulura is in the midst of rising from a transitional revolutionary military government, which had overthrown the old failing imperial order and commenced a more unitary government, using the Matriarch(the Nyo Ulo) as a pawn to do so. This was during a high period of nationalism and liberalism within the country. Ultimately, the provisional government began making serious change after the Blood River Revolution against the corrupt junta, that had seemingly stagnated and entered a civil war itself, and began turning power over slowly the Constitutional Assembly Front which established a formal government and crushed any dissidents through persuasion of the military.

The government today is organized in a parlaimentary fashion, with a bicameral legislature of Elders(elderly wise people) at the top, and a council of Youth(council of young people of varying age ranges) at the bottom. The Elders go on to elect a head of government(the 'Utogish' - Grand Minister) with the ceremonial approval of the Nyo Ulo, every 4 years, with 2 term limits.

The Tuluran government is naturally moderate in many views, as it is arbituarily organized constitutionally to represent most views of every group within the country.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: Low Orymeji is comprised of many mutually understandable dialects, very localized minority languages also exist, depending on the region you're in they're used interchangeably with Low Orymeji. High Orymeji is a liturgical language known across the nation only for a few phrases and ceremonial chants/singing, commonly spoken fluently among the Priesthood however.
c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Ethnic divisions run along regional language lines in Tulura, though all of these groups are generalized under the Tuluran Bantu(subject to IC change) umbrella and identify as such. Nationalism and ethno-religious unity has mostly erased hard ethnic divisions.
d) What are the major religions among your population?: Many synchetized versions of outside religions exist together in the country, that merged with local animist, shamanistic and pantheist beliefs. Most Tulurans believe in the pantheon and practice local rituals. The dominant state belief system, which the monarchy and governmental institutions chariot, is Kanitheism.
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Being a strong regional power (or attempting to) and being influential diplomatically in other parts of the world through soft power. Not afraid to compete and with a history of feeling imposed on, the nation can be rather competitive or defensive, outside actions usually come about to secure trade.
f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): variety of up-to-date domestic and licensed equipment, the main goal is defense mostly while retaining limited, discreet and special intervention capability. In total the military is about 75k in size with 1/3rd as active duty. There is a total of 2 branches, army and navy with their own airforces and sub-branches(logistics, cyberspace, etc). This can all change depending on the stance and circumstances of neighbors or overseas powers.
g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Tulura has developed a strong economy(with the setback of being very volatile and high inequality) based on liberal free market values and boast a diverse selection of many resources such as gold, copper, natural gas, salt and bauxite. It's economic sustainability lies within maintaining former power structures which has allowed mercantile longevity; a broad balance of democratic reform. Tulura is home to a few finished luxury products it enjoys exporting, such as coffee and other foods. As i’m unsure of existing power structure i’m not really sure how i can go about critically constructing much other strengths until i get a feel for things. Broadly summed up: long standing strong institutions and ethnic unity, bountiful natural resources, sustainable developed but small population
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? any way asked as long as it’s not drastically nation altering idea-wise. I left plenty vague so i can adapt however needed :)

Central Yarura River Valley

Hundreds of heavy boots vigorously stamped the mud in running succession with a pattering splash, soldier’s wheezing breaths worked at a high rate through the thick tropical humidity, fog had weaved through the air before their path. Mere spectres of men, approaching in dispersed formations before descending upon their foreseen enemy, said not a word, they’re demeanor hollow and focused down their path.

Finally, ahead of them was their target, an isolated outpost on the edge of the valley that sat atop a superior hill. It swooned from the rolling mist, negligent to its surroundings as no soldiers stood guard. The disguised soldiers, clad in deep green tropical camouflage, moved stealthily to their positions. A strike which had been planned for months was now presented to them. Automatic weapons fired at a dizzying rapid rate at a dangerously close range from seemingly all directions in the form of abrupt pops, kicking clouds of dust into the air as bullets struck walls. The helpless, poorly ragtag enemy scrambled in confusion but it was too late before the irregulars infiltrated their perimeter.

Many raised their hands high in the air, their rifles let go to a hard muddy thud in the ground. The prowling predators paid no attention to their proposition of surrender, unleashing a hail of lead upon any man and women in any form.

By the time more Pontuan soldiers were rounded up from hiding or retreating, the metallic scent of blood had permeated the air, cutting through the crisp Pontuan outdoors. Lined on their knees, with their hands bound, the young teens and adults trembled in a fit of fright. Some begged, but were quickly shut up by brute Talchali, a language of blunt consonants and sounds coming from the back of the throat, which hacked through the atmosphere with offense to the ears.

“Round up all the captives?” Qikol asked, approaching with an overtly masculine stride. “Right, behead the whores and lets get on.” he ordered after his men gave a nodding confirmation. Immediately, each irregular took a sharp machete, reared it back and threw it with blunt force towards the Pontuan’s necks. Each gasped desperately for air through the blood-gurgling wounds made in their necks, as their bodies stiffened with dying shock and squirmed to the ground.

“There’s another outpost several clicks north, we’ll move through the tunnels along the range.” Qikol explained to his awaiting subordinates. “Move out.”

Today was the day, the Coronation of Mopul’s Obasa, a sacred spiritual and monarchical figure that the people loved dearly. This time was sacred, the new Obasa was a young woman, full of energy and beloved around the nation. Times were changing however, the young becoming Queen was outspoken and liberal, much to the dismay of the Tuldayi throne, and the aging conservative government was growing more divided by the day, from social issues to Pontua.

The sacred Oasis of Chima was the pivotal setting to begin the rites of ascension, for those who were chosen to succeed the Taldayi Throne. When the future young Queen Satha arrived from her cross-country pilgrimage, a tradition beset by her predecessors, she told to walk into the frigged oasis waters up to her knees, to the small island in the midst of the shallow lake.

A gentle waterfall, cascading down the crevices of the rocky formation which overlooked the venue, fed the small lake which the future queen slowly stepped in. The pure, illuminated water frigidly kissing her feet, symbolized a great deal of importance to the Taldayi Throne. The Oasis of Chima was well known as a great spiritual site of heritage for all the Mopulese people. Satha remembered the legends she was told of this location, a thousand times over, however only now did she fully realize it’s secluded beauty, seemingly overwhelming her as she approached the rocky island.

A Priestess followed closely behind, holding her hand to the Queen’s back, guiding her along the jagged underwater surface of the lake.

When they finally reached the islet, Satha was told to kneel at the massive stone which stood at its center, engraved with various hieroglyphs one could barely make out. She bent her head down and prayed, feeling an electric energy from the onlooking crowd which sung in a low vibrato of hymns. The Priestess lifted Satha’s head, placing her palm over the Queen’s face, holding it there she recited a priestly prayer; a droning out-of-tune repetition of beautifully construed words. Suddenly, as the Priestess lifted her hand, a small sharp blade dug deep into her face. Satha quivered in the pain, but showed no resentment for it. There she was on her knees before a Priestess, who etched in the Queen's face elaborate designs. In the finishing touches, the Priestess wiped away the blood drowning the Queen’s face, and drizzled an herbal healing oil that smelled of flowers over the scars.

Only the Obasa has these unique facial scars, given to them to signify their status above society. Most noble families of Mopul have scaring across their bodies, given through different stages of life, but none on their faces. Satha was now the marked one, though her body was consumed with scars, now was her face. The elaborate structure of the healing, bleeding scars was impressive, depicting Orymeji Script within dotted lines and slashes. The symbol for the stars she was born under was carved on her left cheek, and on the right, the emblem of Emeji, Mopul’s duel spirit deity.

The Priestess, chanting with the crowd under her breath, brought over a golden cup dipped into the waters of the lake. “Drink” she insisted, holding the cup to Satha’s mouth. “Finally, it is done, I bestow the Mansara name upon you.” the Queen rose, now headed back to shore, a great smile wide around her face, reminded of the journey her father took.

From the Oasis, the rest of the Queen-Obasa’s journey would be on foot, surrounded now by an elaborately dressed troupe royal guard. In front, and from the flanks, Koran Palace vehicles would surround her at walking pace. The cameras would begin to snap on, set up at various points along the route. Millions of TV’s across the country were tuned in, families gathered on holiday watching Satha’s journey from Queen to Obasa. The Streets of the capital, Emdara, were lined with rambunctious thousands, pounding drums, a few singing, chanting and reaching out for the future Obasa of Mopul. Satha’s face was still drizzling with blood as she walked down the street, nearly covering her entire face in rivers of blood.

Satha attempted to maintain her strict posture, as she remembered seeing old film of her father’s final walk down these vary streets. However an inkling of rebellious fire slipped through, she no longer could remain stoic, she was one of the youngest Queen’s in centuries and she would revitalize what she saw as a drab, traditional institution. Her face was still in pain, but she couldn't help but feel energized and happy in the moment. Her guard and security nearly panicked, but devoutly followed the heir as she swept off from side to side of the street; touching the people, shaking their hands, many simply wanted to touch her. She presented a vibrant smile, continuing along the predefined route. Flowers were thrown along her path, as she reached the hill leading up to Sundala Temple, the largest of its kind in the country.

The grand adobe Temple overlooked the entire city, stretching upward with two great towers that dominated the skyline. The main atrium of the Temple was dome-shaped and smooth, Around the temple was vast gardens and public parks, full of statues and ponds. Each building in the city, the closer one got to the Temple, was as venerable as the last. Murals dotted the park everywhere.

A special box area was reserved for worldly delegations, other seperate areas were reserved for Queen Therese, the Thane of Skaw, High Lord Vladik and Serene Oçedrí, all who got personally greeted by Satha as she passed. “It is my greatest honor.” she said, somewhat shaking the Ilionic delegation’s hands with mild contempt as she passed the non-royal VIP area in the garden. She found the absolute monarchs interesting, though did not linger around them too often for appearances, rather bowing at them in respect. “I look forward to seeing you all at the banquet.” she finalized, before continuing on her way. Dried blood still apparent on her face but she was still composed.

When Satha finally approached the Temple, she could hear the monks singing inside, as clear as the excited crowds. Priest and Priestesses welcomed her in, a shaman soon accompanied them. As she entered the Temple, the smell of incense intensified, and the crowds outside quieted down, awaiting their Obasa to return. The ongoings, the sacred ceremony within the temple, were kept mostly secret. For a what seemed like a millenia, no one was allowed in, and no one had even an inkling of what was happening in it. It would be three hours until she would rise again.

Satha was at down on a rug, and given an herbal drink of something that tasted awful. All she knew was that the shaman had sprinkled ashes in it, representing her predecessors. “Do you see them?” the Head Seer stepped in, Anu Adesi; the Head Seer being the leader a theocratic Council of Arbiters. A strong religious figure, subservient to the Obasa. “Your ancestors.” Anu inquired further, “Do you see them?” Satha had gone into a daze, answering partially. The next few hours were ritual superstitious repetition, as Satha’s body, but her face, was washed in water, soaps and oils. When she became entirely aware she was still in somewhat in a daze, the hallucinogenic herbs has transported her to what seemed another place. The ritual dances, with the constituent Kings and Chiefs watching, brought the illusions of spirits to her eyes.

Finally, as she rose in traditional attire, Head Seer Adesi kissed her atop the forehead, and afixed three golden rings around her neck. The rings were elaborately engraved with Ikeshi script. Priestess were at his side, dressing her in bracelets, and sandals. Adesi then dipped a single finder in a bowl of white paint, brushing his finger down Satha’s nose, and decorating lines all over her face. “Don’t worry, this is also healing property.” He then back away, kneeling at her feet, then kissing them. “Obasa Mansara.” he quietly uttered. The rest of the Kings and Chief present the room, watching the ceremony unfold, stood up and kneeled as well, Re-iterating the Head Seer’s words. “Obasa Mansara.” It was done, Mopul has a new Obasa.

As the everyone shuffled out of the ceremonial room, the Head Seer, a soft spoken man, graciously smiled at the Queen, saying, “You may have limited power, you may wish you had that power someday. But you are the essence, the pure essence and moral of the nation. You represent all of our institutions and wealth. You represent something more the squabble of politics and the people. There is much more than happens than you are aware of, you will learn, you will progress. You are the bastion which this country calls upon in crisis, and i fear that will be soon. You are the judge, higher than me and all the other Arbiters, your successors and Emeji lives through you, young one. Be prepared.” With that said, the old man began to walk out the corridors of the Temple, raising his arms and waving as the crowd cheered in his presence.

Slowly, Satha made her way out Sundala Temple, slowly arising from it’s smokey confines. The crowd had burst in a sudden roar, piercing the Queen’s ears, making her skin quiver in adrenaline. She did not smile, for a brief moment she felt changed, feeling to have had a spiritual experience. Now she was stoic, and stood tall with her chin high, trying to maintain a superior presence. She didn’t look back when she entered the Temple, but now, she realized the pure awe of the thousands who cheered before her. The streets danced with music as a motorcade awaited her at the bottom of the Temple steps. As each constituent lord passed down the steps, they kneeled on both knees and kissed her fit, bowing before heading down. Foreign delegations were looked at to kneel as well.

The Head Seer held hands with Satha, as they stepped down together. Following the way of the Kings and Chiefs.

The crowd suddenly held steady; as the Obasa approached their way down the Temple steps, each person bowed with one knee, some people kissed the ground, in love of the Obasa’s cult.

The royal motorcade drove off, now with the crowd cheering “Obasa! Obasa! Obasa!” Satha waved from it’s open top until they left the crowded streets, sitting back down with a tired sigh. “Take me home.” she said, preparing herself for the banquet tonight. The burning of the fresh scars had subsided and she’s have until tonight, when they would further heal.

As they arrived at the venue of Koran Palace, Satha felt a calming relief, until the banquet was soon to start. The palace was located on the countryside outskirts of Emdara. Some royal delegations had the honor of staying on the palace’s ground, as Koran maintained a vast array of small manor’s to accommodate many. Other, minor delegations would be escorted from their stay within the city, from the airport, embassies or hotels.

The Head of Government, Chief Minister Shukara Mugwa, was one of the first to arrive prematurely. She was to greet the incoming delegates and local lords, internal and external diplomacy at work.

f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): House of Representatives

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:
Staroslava, also known as Kristoslava depending on who you're asking, is a federal republic located in Eastern Belisaria bordering [TBD]. It spans [TBD, preferably many] km^2 and is primarily comprised of densely forested hills and mountains with the occasional grassy plains. It's population of 14.3 million is ethnically and religiously divided between the old native pagan tribes, orthodox Velikoslavian settlers and peoples of mixed heritage. Due to historical conflicts and rivalries, these peoples live largely in opposition with eachother, the pagans residing in the hilly countryside and the christians within the fertile valleys and plains. This division also defines the 7 states which currently comprise the federation. The nation's federal capital of Krasnograd, located in the autonomous Capitol District, has a population of 900,000 and is home to the largest community of the ethnically mixed 'Christo-Pagans'.

The Staroslavan economy is largely undeveloped and poor, with the majority of citizens working in the agricultural and timber sector despite the nation being rich in untapped ore and natural gas. Also, while unofficial and technically illegal, the nation's criminal organizations run massive drug, human and weapon trafficking enterprises with little opposition from the corrupt government which often recieves a cut from the gains.

On the previously touched topic of ethnic composition, Staroslava is home to rampant infighting and guerrilla warfare between various militias, making tourism and foreign trade a rare occurance, as well as splitting anything that could be called the nation's armed forces.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?:
The official language of Staroslava is Staroslavan, although a large number of countryside pagans also speak their ancestral tongues.

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?:
The Staroslavan people can be divided into Velikoslavian settlers from the middle ages, pagan natives and people of mixed ancestry.

d) What are the major religions among your population?:
Religions within the country are practically the same as the ethnic composition, with the Veliksolavian descendants adhering to Christian Orthodoxy, the pagans adhering to... paganism and the rest following a hybrid faith between the two.

e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?:
I see Staroslava fulfilling the role that many poor nations do; a center for criminal, rebel and terrorist activity, with much eploitation of the nation's populace and resources by foreign corporations and governments.

f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.):
As previously mentioned, the nation's ongoing ethnic violence prevents the existence of a well organized military, although one technically exists. The Federal Army is divided into the Federal Ground Force, Federal Navy Force and Federal Air Force, which have a combined personnel count of 12,000. Counting the Federal Police, this number rises to 20,000.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures:
While currently unstable, Staroslava has untapped resources and, should it's hating people be united, has the potential to become highly influential due to it's natural gas reserves. Potentially it could even become a terrorist or drug state.

h) If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?
Can't go into the negatives, bub.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting:
Officially, Staroslava exports timber. Unofficially, it exports drugs and human resources.

b) What does your nation need to import?:
Electronics and most things built by factory.

c) What is your country self sufficient on?:
Timber, food and cute girls.

d) What is your preferred location on the regional map?
Eastern Belisaria.

Regional history
a) Were you recommended to Ajax?:
No. I randomly found it while browsing iiwiki.

d) Nation's type of government: Unitary Presidential Republic (Illiberal Democracy)
e) Nation's head of state: President Charles Anderson
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): N/A

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation:

Geography: (note: the country is likely the size of Algeria, possibly Argentina at the maximum.)
The Northern Coastal region features carboniferous forests, rocky beaches, and abundant fishing opportunities. Small towns dot the landscape, which model the Belisarian colonial history from which they come. Most of this region is populated by white ultraconservatives with lineages that trace back to Belisarian families. Its economy thrives on the timber and seafood industries, although the working seasons are relatively short due to the region's temperamental weather, which is either warm and sunny in the summer or cold, windy, and rain-blasted for the rest of the year.
To the south lies the Central Region, which hosts much of the country's population, and has the largest share of immigrant-descended people from the early 20th century. As a result, the country's biggest metropolitan areas are within this region, as well as much of the technological, banking, and other service industries. The geography is not unforgiving, although it does not lend itself to agricultural farming. Most rural farms in this area focus on livestock and hardy plants that can survive here. The Central Region does get some of the harsh weather that the Northern Coastal region receives, and often enjoys a more seasonal climate.
Continuing southward, there lies the Great Lakes region. As the name indicates, it is home to many lakes, some of which dwarf all others. In Concordia's history, this region was the breadbasket of the country, but that has since changed to become its manufacturing center. The series of canals that crisscross the land powered the industrial revolution and now serve as vital shipping lanes between industrial centers and the global markets. Labor unions and higher ethnic diversity are strong in this region, serving as the base of Concordia's liberal movements. Weather here is wetter and snowier on account of the lake-effects, but also is measurably warmer than the rest of the country during the summers.
Returning to the north, the terrain gets more rocky to the west of the Northern Coast, and eventually becomes the Stirling Mountains, named after the famed pioneer Arden Stirling's immense land claim which was left undisputed for centuries. These mountains are little more than glorified hills, reaching heights of only 1,000 to 1,500 feet high. Despite their short size, the elevation changes and strong winds are what makes this terrain unforgiving, and for much of Concordia's history, the Stirling Mountains were regarded as not worth the cost in traversing and settling.
South of the Stirlings lies Concordia's new breadbasket, the Plains. Many of the country's staple crops are grown here, such as corn, wheat, soybeans, potatoes, to name a few. Not much exists here, aside from vast flatlands of farms and small towns that dot the countryside. This region was traditionally home to many conservatives, but green policies have gained traction after decades of trouble with pollution from mining operations in the neighboring mountain ranges.
To the west of the Plains and across a wide valley from the Stirlings are the Gray Mountains, a much larger and taller range compared to their eastern neighbors. These mountains are more easily traversed, despite their large size, as they have many wide valleys in between which lie towns and cities. Up in the mountains are mines of ores and coal, the production of which has increased tenfold in the past few decades, causing a rise in pollution. The Gray Mountains get their name from the fog that flows through them in the early mornings, although a competing explanation points to a particular group of mountains that have no vegetation thus exposing the gray rock.

History:
Concordia was settled by indigenous populations in prehistorical times, which eventually civilized into empires that interacted with the Kayamuca in Belfras and the Pond. However, these peoples were sidelined by the new arrivals from Latium during their Belfrasian Crusade, as some crusaders elected to stay in Norumbria and rule over those lands. Small duchies, kingdoms, and rival Houses fought among one another for the centuries that followed until the Arthuristans arrived. The newcomers quickly took over, enforcing their culture and language upon the locals, both indigenous and Latins.
Uneasy peace separated multiple wars, which in themselves lasted decades. One war would pit all people against one another, not only Latins against Arthuristans, but also Latins against Latins and Arthuristans against Arthuristans. This war devastated the polities of Norumbria north of Belfras, necessitating a more concrete, lasting peace. A Concord (agreement) was created in the city of Carrock during the mid-1800s that would establish a central government to rule over all people fairly and equally, by the people and for the people so that no king of one group would oppress the others. This country was named Caprica, but was later renamed.
Nearly a century would pass during Caprica's peace, but resentments and rivalries still simmered, waiting for the chance to gain the upper hand if there was ever another conflict. They got their chance in the early 1900s, when rival political parties engaged in open warfare against one another in the capital city, which quickly spread through the country like wildfire. Nearly a decade of war resulted, with attempted interventions from the international community. The Arthuristan-descended factions won out, and quickly moved to reestablish the Concord, with a few key modifications. In order to maintain legitimacy, they maintained the democratic system that had existed thus far, but introduced new institutions that would allow their dominance for decades to come, creating a form of illiberal democracy. To mark the restoration of the Concord, the Arthuristan factions renamed Caprica to Concordia. Since then, the differences between Latins and Arthuristans have mellowed, and after nearly a century since Concordia's civil war, the major social groups have settled into familiar positions and patterns. However, non-white immigrant populations threaten to reintroduce the same dynamic that had existed between Latins and Arthuristans.

Politics:
Concordia is a largely conservative nation, dominated by English-speaking peoples. The Latin and Indigenous descended populations are excluded from many political functions — done by subtle institutional oppression and outright public discrimination. There is a heavy white-nationalist sentiment among the conservative wings in Concordian politics, reinforcing the exclusion of non-Arthuristan peoples.
Immigration policy is restrictive, as a result, although it had been relaxed in the 60's and 70's to allow for migrant and foreign workers to find work and revitalize the industrial power of the Great Lakes region. The presence of immigrants from this time period poses a threat to Concordian white hegemony, and the liberal factions often hail from the Great Lakes. Concordia faces illegal immigration problems from the south, as the Concordia-Belfras border policies are lax enough for foreigners to cross over and find work in the industrial regions.
International politics, while important to Concordians, often takes a backseat to domestic affairs. The people would rather that the government focus on domestic issues such as pollution, immigration, economic policy, and social issues rather than international affairs involving NATA, BC, the Pond, and other organizations and nations. However, the increasing volatility of certain areas opens new opportunities for Concordian interests, so there is potential for involvement.
There is potential for conflict with Belfras on another front, as there may be established history concerning the northwest province(s) of Belfras that Concordia could try to lay claim on.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?: The national and official language is English, although minority languages are spoken in some cities and regions such as Latin, indigenous languages, and other immigrant languages. Official policy is that all business be conducted in English, and that non-English speech is banned from public places, but in majority-minority areas this policy is often flouted.

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?: Concordia is composed of mainly Anglo-Saxons that are descended from Arthurista, although there remains a large population of Latins and indigenous peoples, as well as recent arrivals of immigrant workers from Belisaria, Scipia, and Oxidentale. The split is around 73% Anglo-Saxon, 16% Latin, 6% indigenous, and the rest being classified as "other".

d) What are the major religions among your population?: Concordia guarantees the freedom of religion among its citizens, and has a strict separation of Church and State. However, agnostic social structures often oppress organized religious beliefs altogether, and churches are often targeted for discrimination and violence.

e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Concordia is a rising player in the international sphere, but does not specifically aim to be a policymaker in its own right just yet. Tensions between NATA and the BC (?) might be a good place for Concordia to stake its claim on the international stage. Concordia may have aspirations to the North Thalassan. The country is a destination for international migrants looking for a better life, which explains its constant problems with immigration policy and enforcement.

f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.): Domestic defense forces likely dominate military spending, although power projection may become a policy position that is becoming more popular. I'll need assistance from the military experts of Ajax to come up with a detailed overview on this. (I would say the military would model something like the UK, France, Germany — modern but not bloated like the US or China. We could go the Israel route here too.)

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: The strengths of the nation are coming from its modernization programs, and the establishment of new infrastructure that ought to revitalize its economic sectors across the country. Its weaknesses lie in its stubbornness in maintaining national homogeneity and hegemony — beginning to restrict immigration that would otherwise only serve to strengthen their economic sectors. Lastly, the environmental challenges that Concordia faces due to its modernization and industrial resource extraction and manufacturing are looming large. It must solve these problems, or face a devastating change to its wildlife and agricultural capability.

h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? I’m not sure — the standard response is probably to curb population and GDPPC numbers, but I hope they are acceptable enough. I’m very willing to work with region members again to create a concept that is acceptable to everyone.

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.
a) What does your nation excel in exporting: Steel, wood, computer technologies (mainly hardware, though a software sector is growing with investment), raw ores and coal. Limited foodstuff exports, but there may be some kinds of product that can be abundant enough to make it to international market. Seafoods, probably.
b) What does your nation need to import?: Various fruits and vegetables to supplement local growth — mainly warm-climate produce that can’t grow in Concordia. Medical technologies, heavy machinery and equipment, and various other things of that line. Oil and natural gases, too.
c) What is your country self sufficient on?: Basic foodstuffs, wood, metals, chemicals, and anything else it exports.
d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? Map claim, edited to add more Belfras-Border.

a) Were you recommended to Ajax?: Former Resident.

a) Time on Nationstates: 14 years
b) Previous regions: 1000 Islands, Cornellian Empire
  • Example
c) Other nations: The Vorindun, Late Roman Empire, Malacanos, United Valik
  • Example

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: The Imperial Fatherland of the Vorindun
b) Nation's IC population: 55 million
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: 12,000
d) Nation's type of government: Executive Monarchy
e) Nation's head of state: Kaiser Alois I
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): Minister-President Vidiges Odoacer

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: It is an executive monarchy and empire composed of multiple ethnic populations and diverse languages and religions.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?:

Latin, German, Gothic are the principal languages of the three largest ethnic groups, aka nationalities, among the population. There is a smaller percentage that are native speakers of the indigenous language, a dialect of Frisian (Dutch). Many Jews speak Yiddish and Hebrew as well, while many Ostmarkers speak Allamunnic instead.

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?:

Latin Sulpicians, Germans, Goths, Olweans, Jews, Frisians. Frisians are the indigenous population of New Vorindun. The Ostmarkers are a minority group that was welcomed into the place under the last Republic and have continued to be welcome there in spite of the return of the House of Handelhoff to power. The Ostmarkers were heavily enslaved during the Fatherland Front era, but were liberated in large numbers when the abolitionist Kaiser Karl I seized the throne in a hard-fought victory spearheaded by defections in the Imperial Marines to his ranks.

Vorindun's Jewish population also welcomed "Karl the Liberator" in his victory that overthrew the far-right Fatherland Front in the bloodiest war ever fought on Vorindun soil. Many Jews were targeted by the Fatherland Front in anti-Semitic pogroms because of their refusal to convert to Christianity. Karl's plural, open society policies, since continued by Kaiser Alois, have continued to win favor from the Jewish minority there.

The Frisians, another group, this one indigenous, were persecuted repeatedly by the Fatherland Front and Karl's policies, continued under Alois, and their rights to equality under the law, religious freedom, and cultural autonomy, have improved in the past six years.

d) What are the major religions among your population?: Arian Christianity, Paganism, Lutheranism, Catholicism, Alban Christianity, Judaism, Calvinism
e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?:

It will principally perform the function of providing a more multi-ethnic, multi-national state with a healthy mixture of cultures. It will provide many opportunities for capital investment in a country under post-war development and reconstruction. It will also show RP opportunities for demonstrating the power of a domestic industrial policy not unlike the New Deal, but under the influence of a more conservative brand of paternalism. It will also add some strength to the NATA bloc and an alliance or partnership for another, sister-state preparing to join the region.

f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.):

This is a battle-hardened, professional standing army, organized on a legionary system, with 5,000 men per legion. Currently has one hundred fifty thousand troops per the regular army, seventy thousand officers and seamen per the navy (organized along more German lines), thirty thousand officers and airmen, and ten thousand marines (organized on a regimental command structure instead of legionary). Currently has one hundred thousand army reservists, another hundred thousand Landswehr (organized by divisional principles rather than legionary), twenty thousand naval reservists, ten thousand air reservists, and ten thousand marine reservists.

Due to the expenses of the National Reconstruction Policy (NRP) for the past six years, only recently has there been any opportunity to advance possible procurement of more advanced weaponry, so equipment is not as modern as would be desirable, but Kaiser Alois anticipates this improving in the near future.

g) Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: strengths are coal, lumber, and steel, beef, beer, wheat, and herring, as well as a highly disciplined military, would affect things by strengthening NATA
h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?
shave some population off

IC Geographical/resource
General lists, we don't expect you to know all the details before joining and getting a map place.

a) What does your nation excel in exporting:

Vorindun's typically more favorable to growth of root crops such as potatoes toward the northern provinces, which are colder and rockier terrain, versus wheat and cereal crops in the southern provinces, beer and hops are all plentiful and available for export purposes. Vorindun is also a major producer of coal and steel, with many plants and mills, though the former is in steady decline. Vorindun is also a serious catcher of herring and operates many canneries for fish and produces a great deal of beef and dairy products for exportation, as well as beer bottling and brewing. The National Reconstruction Policy (NRP) has strengthened Vorindun's industrial base and rebuilt much of the infrastructure required for international trade.

b) What does your nation need to import?:

Vorindun's climate is woefully lacking in vineyards, especially in the North, as well as orchards, along with rice, maize corn, and most other vegetables. These would need to be imported consistently and on a large scale, as would tobacco, sugar, cotton, dyes, and other such warm-climate cash crops. Oil, natural gas, plastics, and finished goods will have to be imported due to low production of these in Vorindun.

c) What is your country self sufficient on?:

Vorindun has a substantial beehive industry and is more than self-sufficient than in this field, as it is with tanning and chicken coop industries. It is also a significant location for many extra-regional tourists from Olwe and encourages eco-tourism in its less polluted provinces. It further holds major festivals known for drawing tourists, such as Oktoberfest, and it is a popular destination for its public baths for those seeking better hygiene and therapy.

d) What is your preferred location on the regional map? northern Ajax, not specific yet

General information
a) Time on Nationstates: Way too long (let's just say I'm 30 and I've been on NS for half my life)
b) Previous regions: Too many to list
c) Other nations:
  • Ghant
  • Nekulturnya
(there's more but that aught to do it for now)

IC National information
a) Nation's IC name: The Kingdom of Vorindeum
b) Nation's IC population: 15 million (roughly)
c) Nation's IC GDP per capita: TBD at the discretion of regional administration
d) Nation's type of government: Absolute Monarchy
e) Nation's head of state: King Albert I
f) Nation's head of gov’t (if applicable): First Minister Aoric Beuca

IC National information
a) Brief description of your nation: Vorindeum is an island kingdom off of the northern coast of Belisaria populated by the Vorindese, descendants of Gothic peoples that settled the island in antiquity. In fact, the word “Vorin” refers to the ancient tribe of Gothic peoples that inhabited northern Belisaria, and would form the root of the names of both Vorindeum and Vorindun, two nations that would have a greatly intertwined history over the centuries to come.

While Gothic peoples had originally been fairly widespread in central and northern Belisaria at one time, they were largely displaced by Germanic peoples on the continent, though they remained numerous in Vorindeum. While they were largely able to resist the tide of Germanic and eventually Latinic peoples, perhaps it was inevitable that they would eventually become subjugated in some fashion by continental Belisarian powers, which they were by the Vorindun.

Indeed, continental Vorindun was a dynamic kingdom with vast territory, abundant resources and a large population capable of conducting warfare and building industry, so the smaller, less populous and colder Vorindeum fell under their yoke while at the same time maintaining a distinct and proud identity. Despite some tensions, Vorindeum was largely allowed to govern itself provided it maintained basic laws and carried out directives from Vorindun, the latter having to be wary of conflict with Ottonia, Audonia and Liothidia.

Beginning in the 19th century, calls for independence began to intensify, though any serious movement towards sovereignty was limited due to the overwhelming power of Vorindun. In fact, it was only when Vorindun began to experience domestic upheaval that serious calls for independence began, backed by action. Following several revolutions in Vorindun governmental overthrows in that country during the 20th century, the Magister Militum of Vorindeum, Aulus Lexus, declared independence while the Senate of Vorindeum crowned him king.

Following a short war against the Second Vorindun Republic, Vorindeum won its independence and Aulus Lexus ruled as king. He began an aggressive period of diplomacy, trade and military expansion in order to protect Vorindeum’s sovereignty and ensure that its interests were satisfied and its needs were met. These policies were continued by his son and successor Claudius Lexus.

During the reign of the Lexus dynasty in the 20th century, a few trends began to develop. The first is that Vorindeum was far more stable than Vorindun, the former having been successfully able to maintain its independence and grow and prosper as a sovereign state. Secondly, Vorindeum was able to capitalize on north sea oil reserves that allowed it to accelerate economic growth and maintain a formidable fleet. Lastly, Vorindeum having always been a fairly conservative nation, began to drift further to the right politically in reaction to the leftism found in Liothidia, to the point that Vorindeum was practically fascist.

However, trouble was on the horizon as the Lexus dynasty was limited in its ability to produce heirs. As such, Claudius Lexus only had one child, Septimus Lexus, who succeeded his father as king. King Septimus, despite marrying, was unable to produce an heir before he became terminally ill. A succession crisis loomed in Vorindeum, as the Lexus dynasty was doomed to become extinct upon Septimus’s death, and the various noble and senatorial houses began feuding to become his heir.

Septimus, recognizing the need for a king who could unite the country and keep the squabbling factions at bay, looked outside Vorindeum to find the right successor. He settled on Prince Albert of Ghant, second son of Emperor Albert I of Ghant. Prince Albert had previously served as Prince Regent of Ghant from 1997 until January 2006 for his nephew Emperor Nathan IV, and had a reputation for being hard but fair, a shrewd governor and capable administrator, though also leaning to the hard right politically. The Vorindese Senate found him acceptable, and upon Septimus’s death in 2015, Prince Albert was offered the crown, which he accepted.

Albert since his accession has been far more pragmatic than initially expected. The king, while supporting the one-party state, has promoted primary and secondary education programs and allowing certain subjects that had been banned under the Lexus dynasty to be instructed at University, including feminist theory, leftism studies and cultural studies, while also ensuring that citizens in good standing have their basic rights protected by the state. Unfortunately, the lack of heirs continues to be a problem, as Albert’s son from his first marriage renounced any rights he has to the throne, leaving only the King’s feeble young daughter Adela as his only heir.

b) What languages are spoken in your nation?:

Gothic is the principal language among the nation, spoken by default among the common people of Vorindeum. However, German is the default language of the nobility, while Latin is also common among the senatorial ranks.

c) What ethnic groups are present in your nation?:

The predominant ethnicity in Vorindum is Vorindese, which is Gothic in origin. Saxon Germans and Latin Suplicians form sizable minorities. Unlike in Vorindun, the historic populations of Allamunnae, Ostmarkers and Ommelanders were negligible due to the island’s remoteness, while Jews were historically persecuted to such an extent that only recently have Jews taken up residency in Vorindeum, though rampant anti-Semitism remains prevalent.

d) What are the major religions among your population?: The Vorindese Arian Church is the largest church in Vorindeum, though both the Lutheran and Catholic Churches maintain sizable minorities.

e) What role do you see your nation fulfilling within the region?: Vorindeum is distinct in that it is fundamentally a far-right, almost fascist nation in Belisaria with a strong opposition to leftism, liberal democracy and free trade. As such, it is in the unique position of being politically opposed to Liothidia, the Belisarian Community and the Northern Ajax Treaty Association. However for the sake of realpolitik, Vorindeum is willing to accommodate any faction temporarily as a means of advancing its own self-interests.

f) Briefly describe your nation’s military (including size, role, branches, etc.):

h)If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so? Reduce the population, weaken the strength of the navy and reduce access to far northern oil reserves.
