"Well, the rulin' Council is an exclusive club, where there are two ways to get in.

First: Winnin' presidental elections. By constitution our president must be a Council member, so if someone outside the Council wins the elections, he will automatically become a member of this council.

Second: One must prove himself worthy by passing as serie of hardcore and gruellin' challenges, called "The Refreshing Dance" and become an apprentice, like Casey James, do something heroic and epic for Skyhooked, like First Leader Seth, or be someone of unique capabilites and get noticed by Council, like Bjorn of Steel.

The president is a leader of the Council, so his vote counts as two. That way, he would have more weight, but still can be prevented from abusin' his power by fellow Council members.

Basically, Council hold most power in it's hands, while parmiament has pretty little power, and deals with more trivial matters, and has access to all treasury of Skyhooked.

It may sound like oligarchy. It is. But, there is one thing: Council member must also obey the constitution and all the unwritten rules for the Council. If a council member becomes corrupt and causes harm to the people, they have a right to impeach him or her by a popular referenda. And this member has to obey. The one, who was impeached, will never become a Council member again.

Fun fact: There is an unwritten tradition, where Prime minister is the "only sane man" in the Council. Unlike other members, he is just your boring politican in business suit. Administrator and a diplomat, who goes with all the protocols.

"That's the state itself. While we have free markets, we just don't trust them with such vital thing. During Edgar's regime, electricity and gas were pretty unaffordable luxuries for most, because companies charged enormous prices. "For the sake of internal security, we have Gendarmes, who patrol cities, and Sheriffs, who patrol countryside. There are also Carabiniers, who aid at patrolling more dangerous areas. They are all national. Also, we have local vigilanties, who help to catch criminals."-Gendarme.

"Each major city has it's own. In Skyhooked city, it's the Hub district, where Hub.Inc has it's headquarters. There are largest banks too, so security there is extremely tight. After all, we gotta make sure, that investors can trust us with their money."-Banker

"The oldest bulding, that still stands in Skyhooked is a manor of Christpher Pickman, leader of first colonists, who settled on Enthorean island, our main island. When he settled here, he liked this place so much, that he decided to stay in the colony, and ordered construction of this great building here. "It's about employment. While payment is decent in our parts, and finding job is not too hard, not all young people are able to find jobs, they want. So, not all of them like their jobs. Also, family can be an issue too. To raise children, some sacrifices must be made, you know... So many can have hard time deciding and tend to do that later than sooner. That's why most new parents are over 27 at least."-Local.

"I HATE THEM!!! Seriously... because of them, I have to deal with measels again. Last month, I had seven patients with measels, three patients with rubella, two patients with diptheria, and even one with polio! Good thing, that most of our people are reasonable enough to realize that vaccines are NOT evil, otherwise, we'd be plagued with epidmics and I would have no time for a break. Thanks to that, herd immunity leaves only isolated cases of those diseases.
