Post Cool and Useful Facts about your Nation!

Postby Greater Cesnica » Mon Jun 19, 2017 7:59 am

This is in response to a thread titled 'Post Useless Facts about your Nation', which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=386099

I'm making this thread so nations can post useful or cool facts rather.

I have my first fact:

This isn't necessarily useless, but out of 100 deaths in our nation per month, 5 will have sacrificed their lives to save someone else.

Our citizens are heroic to the highest degree.

My citizens are heroic and saintly too.

Heavenly Empress Kaguya can turn into a water dragon, making her really powerful. As for the Heavenly Emperor, he can assume his Celestial form, giving him a pair of angel wings, one white and one black. The wings give him control over light and darkness. After reading this you're probably wondering what Heavenly Empress Somi can turn into. Well, she can't transform, she's totally human.

Rather than wearing rank insignia in the field, the Cosparian Land Forces uses subtle clues ingrained into our infantrymen to distinguish NCOs. For example, while a Private or Lance Corporal will carry a full-length M16A2, a Corporal will typically instead use a Colt M653 or similar carbine. This is done to avoid giving enemy snipers any obvious targets of opportunity.

Finns always travel to Estonia to get cheap alcohol since alcohol is pretty much taxed in Finland and some types are only available to be purchased from a government run store for liquors, brandys etc.
A NS recreation Finland, i will make a factbook in the future, but basically it's just Finland.

Useful for tourists: English is spoken as a lingua franca amongst the citizenry south of the rivers, and French in the north, but most residents in Ville only speak French and English fluently. No need to learn all 8 dialects of Dirlandic unless you consider permanent residence.

"It's Always Sunny In Zhouran":

While the annual sunshine hours in the Zhouranese archipelago varies by exact location, in general Zhouran is known for it's sunny days. The islands of Yili, Tanghan and Gongsun, along with the northern half of Yongjia and the southern tip of Yongkang, receive 2,100–2,300 hours of sunshine per year, while the islands of Yilin, Kangyali, Rongyili, Kang, Kangyi, Nang and Jiayi, as well as the southern half of Yongjia and the majority of Yongkang, receive 2,700–2,900 hours of sunshine per year.

Going to the Beach:

Although the beaches in Zhouran varies by location, most beaches are white-sand beaches accompanied by clear blue water, despite the fact that Zhouran is not a tropical archipelago.

The island of Yili, along with the northern coast of Yongjia, are dominated by beaches that are composed of pebbles, small- to medium-sized cobbles, and occasionally, coarse sand. Generally affected by particularly fierce waves, usually with a long/very-long fetch, the resultant landform is often a steep beach that features stones that typically have an obvious grading of pebbles and/or cobbles, from large to small, with the larger diameter stones usually arrayed at the highest beach elevations. Meanwhile, the islands of Yongkang, Gongsun, Yilin, Kangyali, Tanghan, Rongyili, Kang, Kangyi, Nang and Jiayi, as well as the eastern, southern and western coasts of Yongjia, are dominated by fine/very-fine white-sand beaches with clear turquoise-colored waters.

Mandarin:

Mandarin Zhouranese is a standard variety of Mandarin Chinese that is used as the sole official language of Zhouran. On July 22, 1533, the Ancient Zhouranese language, which dates back to 3,400 BC, was replaced by the Chinese language (which would later be called Mandarin by 1587) as the official language. From July 22, 1533 until July 22, 1933, it was officially called Guanhua (simplified: 官话; traditional: 官話), but since July 22, 1933, Mandarin Zhouranese is officially called Putonghua (simplified: 普通话; traditional: 普通話).

Like other varieties of Chinese, Mandarin Zhouranese is a tonal language with topic-prominent organization and subject–verb–object word order. It has more initial consonants but fewer vowels, final consonants and tones than varieties from Southern China. Mandarin Zhouranese is an analytic language, though with many compound words.

Since July 22, 1533, Zhouranese people began to write in their vernacular dialect in the form of Yulu (simplified: 语录; traditional: 語錄) until July 22, 1933, when it was replaced by Written Vernacular Chinese, which is officially called Baihuawen (simplified: 白话文; traditional: 白話文).

Mandarin Zhouranese uses its own variety of vocabulary and pronunciation called the Zhouranese dialect, which contains some differences from other Mandarin dialects. Even though it is similar to Standard Chinese, the Zhouranese dialect is mainly monotone. Also, the Zhouranese dialect is clearly distinguished by its relatively tonally flat sound as well as its little use of word stress and sentence stress.

As part of Mandarin Zhouranese, Traditional Chinese characters, which was officially called Zhengtizi (simplified: 正体字; traditional: 正體字), was used from July 22, 1533 until February 24, 1957. At the time it became the official writing system in Zhouran, it replaced the Ancient Zhouranese Script, which is estimated to date back to 2,300 BC. Since February 24, 1957, Zhengtizi was replaced by the Simplified Chinese characters, which is officially called the National Simplified Script

From May 17, 1893 until April 21, 1958, the official romanization system for Mandarin Zhouranese was Wade-Giles, which was officially called Wei-toma Pin-yin (simplified: 威妥玛拼音; traditional: 威妥瑪拼音). Since April 21, 1958, the official romanization system for Mandarin Zhouranese is Pinyin, which is officially called Kangyuli Pinyin (simplified: 康玉立拼音; traditional: 康玉立拼音).

Due to a strong emphasis on the use of bayonets for close-quarters fighting, Cosparian-issue M203 grenade launchers have the barrels cut short by approximately 1.5 inches to allow the mounting of a bayonet to M203-equipped M16A2 rifles.

In Fatatatutti, people are encouraged to send their children to the liquor store instead of driving drunk. It is also common practice to call your children to drive you home from the pub.

In Kirislavia, weddings must be officiated by a representative of the Communist Party.

Unlike in many nations, religion may not be mentioned in any way as part of the wedding ceremony. In place of religion, officials usually speak about the family's role within the Party and the importance of serving the communist cause.

Romania was the only communist country in the Warsaw Pact to violently put an end to the country’s communist reign and overthrew the government with force. Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife was executed on Christmas day of 1989.

Gaazikumukh space-naval vessels are engineered in space to such incredible accuracy that there is only a margin of error of %0.06 between ships of the same class and model. However, since mathematics are treated as religion, and giving the job to computers would be "pulling away from the enlightening experience of geometric algebra", all orbital calculations are still performed by hand unless in an emergency

The Cosparian government accepted military aid from both NATO and the Warsaw Pact during the Cold War. Thus, it's not uncommon to see a BMP unloading troops armed with M16s, or a Huey fitted with PK machine guns.

Drug addicts might think Cybertron was a paradise, at least if they managed to come up with the equipment, food, and water needed to survive the environment. That's because here, drugs are seen as nothing but chemical compounds - and most of the compounds are cheap to synthesize. This makes it possible to buy almost any of them by walking into a chemical factory with a few Cubes and a copy of the needed formula.

Since we don't get anything out of drugs unless we can sell them, the hardest part of obtaining them here is buying them in less than industrial quantities. You may have to buy a literal ton of cocaine in order to get some producers to deal with you. In that case, it'll cost you maybe 50 Cubes. That said, it's easier to deal with it in 10-kilo quantities, so it's better to go to a syndicate store if you're into that. The ones once run by the Interplanetary Oil Procurement Corporation are still the best.

~~~~~~~~
Decepticons can also buy literal ICBMs at some syndicate stores. Most of these were swiped out of other planets' arsenals at some point. Of course, they have been unlocked and rooted so buyers can set up their interplanetary bases in proper military style.
Non-Decepticons, alas, are barred from buying any sort of weaponry on Cybertron - with the exception of the counterfeit Walther P-38s commonly sold as "Megatron's old bodies in gun mode." While these Walthers aren't what they're advertised as, they do shoot as well as the ones from the actual Walther factory, and they will give you a great story to tell as to how you got one.
