BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Republik af Adelsmaerke (Britannic: The Republic of Adelsmaerke)
Population:
Language(s): Honord, Sølvale, Kronar, Eslovak, Amethian
Main culture/ethnic group: Jermands, Sydlags, Krigans
Capital: Hranafall
Government type: Constitutional republic
Leader(s): President Eilert Lorens Holt
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Republik af Adelsmaerke, or the Republic of Adeslmaerke in the tongue of the British, is an democratic republic nation that is located in northern Sotia, bordering a number of the Amethian states, the State of Tnemrot and Vlachia-Moldau. Originally founded by warrior-exiles, now called the Hvide Prinsers, from the Kingdom of the Eslovaks, the coastal areas of Adelsmaerke where first settled by these three warriors and a band of followers, establishing the Kingdom of Vaggaverǫld on the coastal areas around 1000 AD.

The Kingdom of Vaggaverǫld expanded at the behest of the Three Princes and enjoyed relative prosperity well into the 12th century, when the main line of rulers was extinguished and a bloody succession war known as the War of the Red Ravens, named after the bloodied sigils of the former ruling house, occurred. The war which lasted nearly a decade saw the large former unitary kingdom of Vaggaverǫld shattered into three separate states; Vaggaverǫld, Menheimr, and Efriheimr. The three states would exist as separate entities until through a series of wars between 1680 - 1745, called the Restoration Period, saw the Kingdom of Menheimr reunite the shattered realms through arms of conquest. At the end of the wars, King Jorgen VIII was crowned in an elaborate ceremony in the old capital of Vaggaverold and declared a new kingdom, the Kingdom of Adeslmaerke. This Kingdom would remain unbroken, with the next serious political modification occuring in 1898 when a constitutional hierarchy was established and the powers of the crown diminished.

In modern times, despite being surrounded by the tumultuous states of shattered Amethia and the forgotten near mythical lands of Tnemrot, Adeslmaerke strives to establish a name for itself in the world. It focuses on being a leader of welfare and "good living" for its citizenry while also maintaining its national security both at home and abroad.

Map claim: Proposal A, Proposal B, Proposal C

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What role do you envision yourself playing in international relations?: Adelsmaerke would be focused on regional affairs within northern Sotia, but have limited at best, disinterest in reality with most other regions unless those regions and the stability and influence was connected to those in northern Sotia. The most extreme focus would be on Amethia, and containing and or resolving the situation, as well as keeping a wary eye towards the would be kings in Eslovakia and the mythical denziens of Tnremot.

Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Militarily speaking, Adelsmaerke would produce enough to hold its own in a engaged, sustained military conflict, but would be incapable of taking on the Federated States, the Ruthenians or any other one of the grand powers on Rostil without the help of a network of allies. Military solutions would be sought as a last resort during a diplomatic or internal/international crisis and instead a negotiated solution through economic influence, political prestige or diplomatic skill would be preferred. Because of this preferred policy of the Adelsmaerkan government, the development of a strong, robust economy and diplomatic corps has been paramount since the advent of the 20th century and is still an active goal today, sought out through expansive trade policies, cooperative economic endeavors and joint peacekeeping and natural disaster response operations.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Yes of course.

BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Auseraelia
Population: 25 million
Language(s): AUseraelian(Serbian), Russian, Brittanic
Main culture/ethnic group: Slavic, with some minorities of East Asian.
Capital: Chernychiv
Government type: Marxist-Leninist Socialist Dictatorship
Leader(s): Premier Nathalie
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Уједињене социјалистичке државе Аусераелиа(Britannican: United Socialist States of Auseraelia) is a Socialist Authoritarian state located in Eastern Sotia. The relatively small nation was born from internal conflict in it's predecessor, the Democratic Republic of Auseraelia and Andepon. This nation practices a radical form of Marx's teachings, "Improved" by the first Premier of Auseraelia. This extreme form of Socialism has resulted in a quite ignorant population, practically brainwashed by a propaganda branch of the government. Though over the last few years under leader ship of Premier Nathalie, the tight grasp of power the party had before has started to dwindle. This is caused by leaks of information by a insurrectionist group called "Tempest".
Map claim:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What role do you envision yourself playing in international relations?: A Socialist Dictatorship that ends up falling into a large civil war/Coup, and eventually becoming a more politically sound faction.
Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Auseraelia is a very militaristic country, boasting a relatively powerful army and airforce for its small size. Its navy is rather lacking, their largest ships being a couple of destroyers. Most if not all of the Auseraelian tech is outdated by modern standards due to their extreme ideology. Their Economy is based upon that of Socialist Ideals, meaning most industry in Auseraelia is State-run, all workers in the same profession get paid the same amount of Units. Units, while valuable in Auseraelia, don't exactly translate well in other countries, the reverse is also true. Foreign currency is pretty much not excepted in Auseraelia, and is not convertable to Units.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: I would conform to their suggestions.

OOC STUFF

Roleplay sample:
Frontier Space, Sector I-6

4 Heat signatures suddenly started appearing on scanners, and ever so slightly started to climb. A sudden jump in the heat signatures noted the reactivation of each ships' Zero-Point-Module. The 4 ships sat in the ring, before one started to spike in heat readings, a split second afterwards, the object started moving towards Eichi.

The Hellraiser, Fury-A-class Cruiser

Sariel looked around, it was only a matter of time before the Humanforms in the system noticed their presence, perhaps they already have, he wouldn't know.

"Please tell me our MHD weapons are online."

The Angelic Bridge Officer turned to the Angel, "Our MHD weapons are online, however the shields and the Particle Lance is offline, permanently, and the ZPM is damaged. We are putting out more heat than usual."

Sariel cursed under his breath, then spoke to the Officer, "Ready the MHD weapons, and send the Alheil to set a perimeter, and be prepared to engage any signs of hostile activity, and for the Lord's Sake, get our Framedrive online.

The Officer nodded and turned back to his console. On the outer hull, parts of the surface seemed to start boiling, before moving back to reveal a cluster of 4 Moskit-A fighters, these fighters were probably outnumbered if the ships' readings were correct. The Procurator-class Cruisers were notable, like all confederate ships, for having a vast amount of fighter-craft. The Angels weren't so lucky in their doctrine...

The Alheil, Fury-B-Class Boarding Cruiser.

The Alheil, unlike the other ships, was red. This denoted it's actual purpose, to board other ships in a timely and aggressive fashion. The ships also made good early warning and anti-fighter ships.

A young Sensory officer's console started reporting an energy signature just beyond the Perimeter, the sensors indicated it was just beyond visual range. The Officer turned to the captain of the ship, "We have a Contact sir! Bearing 12 degrees Port!"

The Captain wasn't surprised, "Is it Confederate?"

"No sir, initial scans say that it isn't Confederate, we aren't detecting any Human-Form ZPMs, and it is massive, with two or more smaller readings, possibly strike-craft."

"Sound the Alarm! Action stations now!" ordered the Captain. The ship's lights dimmed, then turned red, and a loud alarm wailed throughout the ship. There was a loud groan, then a charging noise as the ship started diverting power from aux. systems to the MagnetoHydroDynamic Weapons. The Captain knew his ship didn't have the power to fire a Particle Lance, nor did it possess a decent one. He also knew he couldn't launch Moskits, due to the Fury-B not having a Moskit bay like the regular ones do.

"Tell Sariel we have contacts, Non-confederate, do not fire unless given the order to!" yelled the Captain.

The Large red Octahedron shifted, and turned its nose towards the possible hostiles. Anyone would pick up a garbled static burst across multiple frequencies, through the ZPM's bleed-through effect as it fired a transmission.

Postby Auroya » Wed Jul 04, 2018 8:08 am

Hello. It's me.

(though I've reworked Auroya quite a bit since you last saw me ages ago)

BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Imperial Federation of Auroya
Population: Somewhere short of 200 million.
Language(s): Auroyan (and its dialects) is the primary and most widely-spoken language; its dialects are typically separated into several distinct groups: northern, upper, mid, lower, and western.
Main culture/ethnic group: "Auroyan", though this is an umbrella term consisting of a mulitude of sub-ethnicities and regional identities.
Capital: Imketia
Government type: Federal presidential republic (with a highly ceremonial vestigial monarchy, so perhaps "crowned republic")
Leader(s): Empress Cinya Iocir; Chancellor Aozor Akona
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please):
Auroya is a federation, comprising a multitude of states on its home archipelago and several others further afield, the latter being primarily remnants of its attempts at a colonial empire. This federal structure has at its head - de jure, anyway - an ancient monarchy, on the throne of which sits (in the present day) Empress Cinya Iocir. But this is power in name only; the monarchy is a figurehead, politically entirely ceremonial. Auroya is a modern liberal democracy, and the head of the government is a Chancellor, elected by a nationwide vote. This chancellor acts in a role very similar to the US presidency, rather than being based on the British idea of a prime minister. Aside from them, there is a complex tricameral legislature, parts of which have evolved over a very long time and parts of which are much more new and modern, and then there is a judiciary.

Auroya predominantly follows a polytheistic, animist folk religion; a complex and ancient collection of mythology with regional variation, along with a focus on rituals and a diverse and deeply culturally-ingrained set of practices and festivals. This religion is generally referred to by the name Ibutism, and it also incorporates what one would call "magic" - supernatural forces, and the ability to influence them. Auroya being FanT means that these forces are real. Throughout the land, there is a large number of "magical societies" - oftentimes secretive (though not always) organizations dedicated to the understanding of the supernatural. A few of the most ancient have nefarious reputations, and the libraries of the most prestigeous societies are said to hold knowledge of both marvelous things and terrible things which man was not meant to know.

Auroyan culture is deeply interleaved with its religion due to its nature.

The archipelago has seen many stages of unification throughout its long history - though it was never fully unified until the early 20th century - and has historically been home to several powerful states and kingdoms, as well as temporary unions and federations of these. There has always been a vague "Auroyan" identity, but the modern state is the first to be able to lay claim to all of it.

Auroya made attempts at empire-building during the mid-to-late 19th century, and enjoyed a little success; though it was mostly a trade empire, a few of its posessions became settler-colonial efforts, some of which are states of the Imperial Federation today. During this time - as the precursor to the modern Imperial Federation began to integrate the majority of the archipelago - Auroya began to rise to prominence as a regional power, then later in the early 20th century as a world power. It would presumably have gotten involved in a few major wars, depending on what regional history is like; I'll do my best to work it into the regional history.

In terms of its economic doctrine, Auroya employs a fair few libertarian-left wing ideas; employee-run organizations are likely to be common, for example, all operating within a free market - a decentralized market economy (a mixed one, consisting of state-run enterprises, autonomous cooperatives, small-scale private enterprise, etc etc) with a small role for state intervention and macroeconomic planning. Ironically, Auroyans are likely to identify as "free marketeers", though disagreeing with most others on what exactly represents "economic unfreedom". Auroya's economic history is probably... interesting to say the least.

Since the 60s/70s, Auroya has also been running a very extensive space program, with both civilian and military aspects to it, at the cost of dialing back its military power projection capabilities somewhat and transferring resources.

Also, a part of its new military doctrine are ace-combat style flying ships.

Map claim: Here. I'd also like to look, if possible, into picking up a few small colonial remnant possessions around the world, thought I'd prefer to work that out once/if I'm actually in.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What role do you envision yourself playing in international relations?:
Generally, I'd imagine Auroya to be a significant economic and diplomatic power, highly interested in protecting its interests in its region of the world, but reliant on soft power first and miliary options last. It probably seeks to maintain a hegemony in its immediate region, and where possible will cooperate with other powers in furthering its interests.

That said, Auroya's modern military makes power projection and intervention capability (through naval and air assets) one of its priorities, and I expect it'd make use of it now and then. It's also likely to be a highly active participant in various geopolitical organizations and alliances.

Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures:
Well, it'd naturally mean that whatever blocs it associates with grow a little stronger; its various small holdings around the world may also create hostile relations with some states here and there.

Its most significant influence would probably be in its own region of the world, where it would actively seek to make sure that regimes hostile to it or its interests do not thrive. From a historical perspective, its own region of the world may also have quite the history of Auroyan intervention and imperialization.

Auroya would probably also be a leader in space militarization; I'm not sure in what way this would affect regional power structures, since I'm not sure that's a very significant theater.

Economically, Auroya is a powerful, modern, diversified economy; its existence will make the continent it's on more economically important.

If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Dialing back its power projection capabilities to a more appropriate level would be my first call.

IC name: Horsk Republic
Population: 47,000,000
Language(s): Horsk (Slavic), Syrmiac (Turkic), Vorkutan (Uralic), Iglikan (Eskimo)
Main culture/ethnic group: Horsk people (Slavic, cca 70-80% of the population), Syrmiac people (not!Tatars, cca 6% of the population), Vorkutan people (not!Komi), Iglikan people (not!Eskimo) and immigrants in big cities
Capital: Dugoyno
Government type: Federal semi-presidential republic
Leader(s): president Diana Komorowska; prime minister Patrik Stein
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Horsk Republic is a constitutional republic with developed democratic tradition. Very diverse place - south-western islands are mostly rich and urban while the northern island is much poorer and very rural. Southern islands are usually seen as central Horskia due to its historical significance and high population density. Capital city is also located there. South-eastern coast of the larger island have been sparsely populated during most of the history but in the last 50 years that region have developed rapidly and today it is the most liberal part of Horsk republic known for entertainment industry. The interior is still very conservative and rural. Some parts of the country don't even have Internet connection. Relations between Horsk and Syrmiac people are strained and some regions and cities are even segregated in order to prevent conflicts (like in Belfast). Pillarisation is very common. Relations between Horsk people and other minorities (Vorkutan and Iglikan) are mostly good and peaceful.

BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Gorgashia.
Population: 106,500,000.
Language(s): Britannic, Belkan, Northern Gorgashi, Western Plains Gorgashi, Eastern Plains Gorgashi.
Main culture/ethnic group: Northern Gorgashi.
Capital: New Foundation.
Government type: Communalist Confederation (Single-Party Republic).
Leader(s): Frederick Johnson.
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Inhabited by tribes and indigenous bands that trace their histories to around 1,233 BC, Gorgashia traces its etymology to an empire founded by the Northern Gorgashi around around 678 BC, which collapsed due to speculated reasons around 431 BC (the strongest theory is that it was an influential warlord from the indigenous peoples of Bereia that the 'Council of Ivory Crowns' trifled with and saw their kingdoms razed and looted as recompense that saw the empire collapse). Several confederations and conquests saw political organizations of similar size wax and wane over the region, but never to the same scale and size as the first empire. Colonization of the region began around 1637 AD, by a mixture of Britannic colonists and influxes of the Belkan diaspora. By 1689 AD, the entire region had been overtaken by colonists through a mixture of wars and treaties with the indigenous groups. The colonists attempted to acquire independence by force of arms around 1745 AD, named the Bush War after the guerrilla styled methods of the colonists, but the colonists were defeated and put back in line around 1749 AD by Britannic military forces. The economic damage caused by the war made the colony an easy acquisition by Belkan influence around 1766 AD and it was added to the colonial administration of Bereia. Belkan investment and lack of scruples towards exploitation of indigenous groups saw a period of economic development in the Gorgashian region. The Great War (1892 AD to 1896 AD) saw the majority of Gorgashi settlers wage war against Bereian settlers as loyalists to the Belkan Black Sun Party, however, political radicals of the Gorgashi Gemischt communities and leaders of the other Gorgashi Indigenous communities banded together and overtook the loyalist forces while maintaining a strong posture towards Bereian forces to assert themselves as a separate independence movement. The Communalist Confederation was officially established around 1891 AD, after a period of interim government. The 1900s saw flares of conflict between the descendants of Britannic and Belkan settlers and the Indigenous Gorgashi, and attempts by the leading Communalist Alliance Party to economically develop Gorgashia; these ethnic tensions were only partially resolved and economic development projects generated mixed results. The Proteus Impact has resulted in martial law declared, and ethnic tensions flared in several instances due to the economic damages inflicted by the Impact, Bereian military adventurism in other parts of the continent have also generated fears among the government and populace that Gorgashia may be perceived as an 'easy target' and attacked by their ideologically different neighbor.
Map claim: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2szczw1c2knj2 ... m.png?dl=0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What role do you envision yourself playing in international relations?: Bereians and Gorgashi are going to fight a lot. It is going to be great.
Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: It is a significant regional military power with a relatively large army and air force, but middling naval strength. Gorgashia retains a strong mining industry in base minerals and subsequently decently developed heavy and light industry. Agriculture is relatively moderate compared to regional and global averages. Energy production has been an issue in Gorgashia, with most sources of energy either imported or meagerly produced within Gorgashia; the cost of living within Gorgashia is significantly affected by electricity, oil, and gas prices. Tertiary/Service industries were developing within Gorgashia, but are behind most neighbors and formerly rapid development has taken a tailspin to an excruciating slow pace after the Proteus Event. With such an underdeveloped service industry, Gorgashia has lagged behind many nations in regards to recent technological developments. Most nations seeking conflict with Gorgashia can exploit Gorgashia's weak naval forces, lack of access to advanced technologies, and an underdeveloped tertiary sector in the economy. Said nations would likely be wary of Gorgashia's significant ground and air forces, supported by a robust industrial capacity. In short, global superpowers could easily blockade and cripple the regional power to force their agenda if they needed to, regional powers on other continents might have limited means to affect Gorgashia but Gorgashia has limited means to affect them, while regional powers on the same continent as Gorgashia are within the reach of the Gorgashian army and ought to take heed.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Fight me.

Postby Legatia » Wed Jan 01, 2020 2:41 pm

BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Legatian Republic
Population: 144,242,780
Language(s): Latin, English
Main culture/ethnic group: Legatia is made up of 87% ethnic Legatians, roughly analogous to Italians. The other 13% is a wide mix of immigrants, regional neighbors, and others.
Capital: Augusta
Government type: Federal consular (presidential) republic
Leader(s): Consul Lucius Pescennius, elected Consul
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Legatia is a nation with a tradition of republicanism, and believes strongly in the constitutional society that was created after years of bloodshed hundreds of years ago. Legatian civic tradition holds their government very much accountable to their decisions, and at the same time instils a good amount of trust in the steadfast system. Legatia is bordered to the north by Dalnassar and the Caelestes Empire, and to the south by Gorgashia, with whom Legatia maintains a particularly cold relationship and maintains sizable military presence on the borders.
Legatia takes pride in its military, which maintains a sizable blue-water navy centered around carrier battle groups, of which it maintains five: two active on the east coast, one active on the west, and two in reserve. The navy and Marines are key to Legatia's ability to force project, whereas the Army is mostly a force designed to keep the Legatian borders secure, and only deploys abroad in times of sustained war or conflict.
In diplomacy, Legatia attempts to maintain cordial or friendly relations with most nations. It is not averse to being friendly with non-republican nations, but is more averse towards nations it sees as heavily oppressive, or hostile to the interests of the Republic. Legatians are not heavily influenced by magic and hold most of their reverence towards the Legatian Pantheon, though some are devoted to regional deities or are atheistic.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What role do you envision yourself playing in international relations?: Legatia is a potent regional and international player, yet it does not have the weight to claim itself a world power. Its military tradition and steadfastness in its geopolitical relations serve to strengthen its ability to interact with the other nations of the world. However with a reduced sensitivity to magic and some futuristic technologies, Legatia does maintain a mostly conventional military forc.e
Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Legatia is particularly capable of international force-projection which lies in its well-developed and well-funded military. Economically it is really only powerful regionally, as it does not have major weight to push around across the globe with finances.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce the strength of the military, particularly force-projection abilities.

BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Hallowed Empire of Urzin
Population: Densely populated, not sure what would be an acceptable number so I'll just spitball 40 to 50 million?
Language(s): Hallowspeak, Urzinian Standard, Estainian, a few others that are not 'State' languages.
Main culture/ethnic group: Urzinian
Capital: Hallownest
Government type: Meritocratic Elective Monarchy
Leader(s): Empress Begara Den Shiager and The High Council of Urzin
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Once a land ruled by dark gods who bid their servants to conquer the world, only to be justly defeated and fragmented, those that survived fleeing deep beneath the surface, fearful of further retribution being visited upon them. As time went on and society evolved, The people joined together into a new nation they dubbed 'Urzin' or 'Strong Land'. For a time Urzin was largely isolationist, content with focusing on their own development within their large cavern cities, Until recently, as the Council of Urzin now shift's it's focus to the surface world once again. Emergence Day would see a brand new Nation rising from the earth, quickly overpowering what weaker people roamed the lands above their subterranean home and annexing the territory, carving out the initial borders of what would be now known to the world, As the Hallowed Empire of Urzin.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What role do you envision yourself playing in international relations?: I can see a lot of potential roles to fill, An antagonistic Aggressively expansionist Empire if you need a villian, or a potentially powerful Military Ally. Urzin isnt a mustache twirling bad guy nation, nor is it the knight in shining armor hero of the people, they will do what they feel they must in order for whatever they see as a benefit to them.
Critically discuss the strengths of your nation (esp. military & economic) and how they may affect existing regional power structures: Urzin is a new player to the political game and their economy is far from a powerhouse due to very little international trade until recently. Relying entirely on themselves for so long has instilled a very collectivist, industrial sense, All citizens must work to earn their keep. Urzin's history is filled with a lot of strife, both internal and external, so it's military isnt lacking as much as one would think, thought it's also not about to boast having the largest or most powerful military on Rostil, atleast not yet.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Likely nerf the population down to a more acceptable number.

OOC STUFF
How did you hear about Rostil?: My desperate and mighty NEED for Post-Modern Roleplay, and lots of searching
Other NS accounts: The only ones I still care enough to maintain is Auruum and Ravanor
Roleplay sample: It’s not as lengthy as I’d like but I didn’t want to take too many liberties and assume things so I left it open and vague. But I do enjoy writing out news dispatches and so I expect when something properly interesting happens then longer and more fleshed out dispatches will occur.

Age: 26

Anything else to add (optional): I suppose a general TL;DR for the aesthetics I’m going for: Think Locust Horde mixed with the Orcs of Mordor but tone down the genocidal tendencies and make it decently capitalistic and industrial.
What do you, as a player, expect of the Rostil community?: Collaborative Roleplay and Storytelling. Interesting international interactions.

BASIC DETAILS
IC name: Northumbria
Population: 10 million
Language(s): Northumbrian English
Main culture/ethnic group: Northumbrians
Capital: Newcastle
Government type: Democracy
Leader(s): President Alvin Ashleigh (head of state, independent) / Prime Minister Philip Proudfoot (head of government, Northern Independence Party)
Nation description (at least a paragraph, please): Northumbria only relatively recently gained its independence from an English-cultured nation, having undergone a cultural revival in the form of the 'Northumbrian Renaissance'. Although stereotypically a country of collieries and shipyards that has traditionally been hostile to socially progressive politics, the recent victory of the Northern Independence Party in the parliamentary elections points to broader trends in Northumbrian society...
