Ever since the repulsion of the Islamic conquerors in 642AD, Islam has been a forbidden religion in Annuna, and all Muslims ordered to be expelled under the threat of execution. Most Muslims heeded the words of the Pharaoh, packed up and left. Those that refused were dragged into the streets and publicly beheaded, and the bodies burnt upon pyres. Since 642AD, there has continually been no recorded Muslim population in the Kingdom, and many Annunans still have a deep-seated enmity towards the Islamic faith which can only owe to the attempted Islamisation of the realm many centuries ago.

Officially the Royal Commonwealth has a secular government in the form of a semi-constitutional monarchy, and has seen non-radical Muslims elected into its government, mainly among the unicameral Assembly of Provincial Representatives.
