"Hum, someone pointed me to this forum and I thought I'd try to get some ideas of what this place is truly like from the source itself!

Now then, what does one do to have fun in a place like Kyoki Chudoku? What do you guys and gals do to pass the time?

I have my suspicions and while I thought about trying to suger-coat such questions, I'm going to be blunt. Are blood sports still a thing in Kyoki Chudoku? If not, I want to know what made you people think twice about it. If so, why? Why the need? Is it a form of punishment? What's the cultural significance of such a type of sport?

Of course, as an actress, I must ask this. What do you admire in any form of entertainment? What do you look for when admiring a piece of art, regardless of medium?

Just watch, someone’s going to complain about it being propaganda anyway. But I’m happy to answer your questions.

Now then, what does one do to have fun in a place like Kyoki Chudoku? What do you guys and gals do to pass the time?

That’s a very broad question. Of course, there is an understanding that productivity is important, especially during the rebuilding effort- though that’s been finished for a bit now. Kyoki Chudoku does have music, games, animations, and plenty of other media. Movies tend to be either animated- we have a lot of animations- or historical in nature. You have some people who like watching through Nightmare footage, and an awful lot of people who’d rather not be reminded of it.

Speaking of which, music is a tricky subject. In Sangaku District people aren’t so bothered, but anywhere else...well, it’s never played publicly if it has lyrics in it. It’s a necessary measure to prevent psychotic breakdowns. One recently popular thing is theatre drama. Gikochinai loves that. She’s not an actress with great emotional range, but she doesn’t really have to be.

There’s animations in general. Again, much of Gikochinai’s work. Of course, we’re careful what is permitted to be shown, and we don’t allow foreign imports for the most part. But there’s still plenty of options. A lot of gory stuff, and then an equally large amount of stuff that basically exists to be a sweet and safe as possible because sometimes all people want is a distraction.

Aside from media, there’s all the usual things...except sports. We don’t really...have those. Not properly, anyway. I think people came up with ideas in the veteran centres, but it’s all their work. Nothing official. Speaking of which, veteran centres are where you’ll find all the things like drinking and smoking and people stabbing themselves to keep score of their kill counts. If it keeps them calm, they’re allowed that much.

We don’t have blood sports here. Not unless you count those times Hanabi gets rioters to kill each other in detention centres because it’s ironic punishment. Public executions, sure. But not blood sports. We don’t want massive tides of bloodthirsty citizens after all. Suffering is punishment, and it’s lot easier to just torture people in prisons than to have massive shows about it every time. We have better things to spend our resources on than that.

Of course, as an actress, I must ask this. What do you admire in any form of entertainment? What do you look for when admiring a piece of art, regardless of medium?"

Me, personally? It depends. Sometimes I just want a distraction. I’m usually one for fantasy in those cases. It’s a reminder of simpler times. But in works of meaning, what I really want...I just want something interesting to think about. A character that has more meaning than driving a plot forward or heck, even a painting that at least has more to offer than “look its abstract”. I’m not an artist, I’m not an art critic either, I watch entertainment to be, well, entertained.

I do also have a soft spot for brutal displays on deserving traitors, though it’s never as satisfying as doing it yourself. Still. Better than nothing.

You know, I’m not sitting in a doom fortress keeping count of how many vaguely international moral regulations I’ve broken today or anything. If most of the world can’t even agree what half of the things count as, how am I supposed know? I’d be offended if I could be bother sparing your question any more brain cells than I’ve already wasted on it.

Say, you're kinda wacky, aye? Have you ever had a professional looked at you? Like, on a couch, asking you questions such as, "How does that make you feel?", "And what do we do when X happens?", "Why are you in my office? This is a Sunday. You're not supposed to be here. Wait, please, put down the knife. Aozora, I have a wife and kids. Please, don't."

I don't mean this offensively - take it as my own pseudo-professional interest.

I get this kind of question a lot for some reason. Granted, most don’t put it so eloquently. They just ask “are you crazy” or “are you insane” or “are you a madwoman”. Not anyone that knows me in person, mind. Just the ones who think they’re safe because they’re asking across the internet. But you know what? Since it comes up so much, fine. I’ll give a real detailed answer.

Naosu- my head of medical affairs, and indeed personal physician- gives me regular examinations in times of significant stress. I admit, I’ve not always been especially lucid. There have been some points in my life where I confess to having been not entirely sane, maybe. But I’m going to make a notable distinction here between insanity and sadism. It’s important to note. Insanity just means not being sane- in a clinical sense, mental illness. Now I think a lot of people are insane in a general sense- any democratic leader, for example- but in the medical sense, they’re just idiots. Well, mostly. Well, sort of. Sometimes.

Look, the point I’m getting at is this. I know what it’s like to be insane. And I know I’m not insane. Insanity is when everything is incoherent. When you’re seeing things that aren’t there and can’t tell reality from imagination. That’s true insanity right there. I don’t have that anymore. What I have is sadism. I like the suffering of others. Sometimes. When I get carried away. The truth is, I’ve made many efforts not to indulge cruelty personally. It’s cathartic, but it’s...well. It’s like an addiction. You can’t keep feeding it whenever you want just because you feel nice. It’s dangerous. And I know where that path leads...

I do have measures in place for if I am psychologically compromised. I have measures for hallucinations if they come up again. I don’t talk about my problems because nobody else is going to understand them that doesn’t have them. Kyoki Chudoku has done very well to advance the treatment of many psychological issues out of necessity. I don’t consider most of my psychology a problem. Sadism? How do you fix that beyond restraint? A desire to control? Is that a bad thing for a tyrant, if not applied too intensely? Trauma? You watch half your nation get killed, then you’re qualified to tell me how I should cope with it.

Wait, you’re a terrorist. I suppose you’ll understand sooner or later after all. Well, have fun with that when the day comes.
